Goldie A. Mays Herdman, 95, of Buffalo died May 30, 2000, in SunBridge Nusing Home after a long illness.
She was a homemaker and a member of Otter Branch United Methodist Church, Buffalo, and Hometown Senior Citizens. She waa a lifelong resident of Putnam County.
Surviving: daughters, Rose Martin of Buffalo, Barbara Whittington of Bryan, Ohio and Ruby Ann Legg of Pioneer, Ohio; sister, Florence Maser of Buffalo; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Service was held June 3, 2000 at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with the Rev. Bud Hatfield officiating. Burial was in Walker Chapel Cemetery, Robertsburg.
Lewis D. Craddock Jr.
Lewis D. “Buzzy” Craddock Jr., 50, of Eleanor died June 3, 2000, in Memorial Division, CAMC, after a long illness.
He was a native of Poca, a former employee of C&O Motors, St. Albans, and a member of Midway United Methodist Church.
Surviving: wife, Linda; daughters, Gretchen Craddock, Julie Brooks and Jacquelyn Craddock, all of Eleanor; father, Lewis D. Craddock Sr. of Poca; sisters, Joyce Purdy of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jan Hudson of Quinby, South Carolina, and Debbie Grant of Winfield.
Service was held June 5, 2000 at Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, with Pastor Kenneth Coon officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House.
Margaret E. Loudin
Margaret Eloise Loudin, 73, of Buffalo died June 1, 2000, at home after a short illness.
She was a homemaker and retired owner/operator of Loudin's Upholstery Shop.
Surviving: husband, William G. Loudin; daughters, Anita Lynn Loudin of Red House, Patricia Ann Loudin of Buffalo, and Pamela Jean Fenton of Eleanor; sons, William Gray II of Wallback, Robert Lee of Oak Hill, Florida, and Thomas Edward of Charleston; sisters, Ester Holland of Spencer, Hazel Reed and jenny Duncan, both of South Charleston, and Janet Harrison of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Jack Dean of South Charleston; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Kline E. Leggett
Kline E. Leggett, of Milton, WV, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his home following a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 31, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Rev. James Sheets officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Kline was born in Auburn, W.Va., on May 27, 1922. He was a son of the late Wallace E. and Gladys I. Sheets Leggett. Kline was also preceded in death by his brother, Ervin Leggett. He was a member of the Milton Baptist Church and retired from C&P Telephone Co. with 43 years of service. Kline was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Mary Calhoun Leggett; four children and their spouses, John and Jo Ann Leggett of Summersville, W.Va., Jarrel and Valerie Leggett of Milton, Janet and Ron Lowery of Valdosta, Ga, and Joy and Jack Phillips of Ashland, Ky.; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Crane of Greenwood, W.Va and a sister-in-law, Ruth Leggett of Burgettstown, Pa. The family wished to especially thank the St. Mary’s Hospital Home Health for their care and special love over the past few months.

Mrs. Ruth Ellen Patterson Gibson, 61, of Ona, W.Va., passed away Sunday, May 28, 2000, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 31, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Paul R. Meadows officiating. Burial in Milton Cemetery. Ruth was born in Huntington on Nov. 8, 1938. She was a daughter of the late Harry and Katherine Gwinn Patterson. Ruth was retired from the C&O Hospital and Huntington Hospital after many years of service. She was a 1956 graduate of Huntington High School. Ruth was the beloved wife of Jimmie D. Gibson; the dear mother of Joyce Geer and husband, Frank, of West Chester, Ohio; dear grandmother of Jamie Lynn and Stephanie Jo Geer, both of Huntington; loving sister of Joann Tipton and husband, Virgil, of Waterford, Mich.; dear aunt of Linda Hubarth and Vivian Lucas, both of Waterford, and Harry Tipton of South Point, Ohio; and very special and dear cousins, Rudy and Lester Camp of Huntington, W.Va. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She loved and cared for everyone.

Frederick F. “Freddie” Blake, 78, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Glenwood, husband of Audrey Clagg Blake, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at home. He was retired from United Transportation. Survivors include two sons, Kennith Blake of Columbus and Gary Blake of Groveport, Ohio. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Dallas Hobert Graley, 77, of Hurricane died May 21, 2000, in Memorial Division, CAMC.
He was a retired Kanawha Valley real estate agent, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Hurricane Bible Church and VFW Post 6418, St. Albans.

Effie A. McCoy, 80, of Poca died May 21, 2000, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Surviving: daughters, Effie Willis of Charleston, Nina Beller and Ladonna Spiller, both of Red House, Joyce Powell of Florida, and Virginia Spaulding of Eleanor; son, John of St. Albans; 41 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-granchildren.

He was a disabled laborer, a former employee of Southwestern Engineering and was a Protestant.

She was a lifelong resident of Hometown and was a homemaker.

He was retired from US Steel, Pittsburgh, was a former employee of the West Virginia Department of Highways, attended 26th Street Baptist Church, Huntington, and was a member of Masonic Lodge 53, Huntington, Scottish Rite Bodies and Beni Kedem Shrine, Charleston.
Surviving: wife, Hazel Marie Booth; daughters, Jo Ann Booth Frye of Huntington and Patricia L. Gunn of Chesapeake, Virginia; sons, Dannie L. of Huntington and R. Eddie of Hurricane; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Clyde Benton Frye Jr.
Clyde Benton Frye Jr., 57, of Barboursville, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 27, 2000, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by Rev. Danny Ross and Rev. James Dailey. Burial in Oaklawn Memorial Park. He was born August 14,1942, in Cabell County, a son of the late Clyde Frye Sr. and Eunice Stamper Frye. He was an employee of Aristech Corporation, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Upper Smith Creek United Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Renee Frye; and one brother, Freddie Frye. He is survived by his wife, Mauna Gue Frye; one daughter and son-in-law, Paula Denise and Melvin Hudnall of Hurricane; one son Chris Frye at home; one sister, Shirley Foster of Scott Depot; five brothers, Larry and Bill Frye, both of Huntington, Roger and Kenny Frye, both of Barboursville, and Jerry Frye of Proctorville, Ohio; and one granddaughter, Lauren Renee Hudnall. The family would like to express their appreciation to all of the employees of Aristech, for their kindness and generosity during his illness.

Sara F. Thomas, 84, of Barboursville, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in St. Mary’s Hospital. Private services were held Friday, May 26, 2000. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, W.Va. She was born Oct. 11, 1915, in Hinton, W.Va, a daughter of the late Frank A. and Laura L. Richmond Martin. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, the Degree of Honor Lodge and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Thomas, and two sisters, Kathryn Martin Robrecht and Nedra Martin. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Laura (Susie) and Bill Hess of Barboursville; and one granddaughter, Laura Beth Hess.
