Raymond C. Wilson
Raymond C. Wilson, 66, of West Hamlin, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, September 4, 2000, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, September 7, 2000, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by Pastor Joey Ferguson and James Jobe. Burial in Enon Cemetery. He was born August 18, 1934, in Lincoln County, a son of the late Irwin and Eunice Pridemore Wilson. He was retired from Lambert Construction and Equipment, Ona, W.Va. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Midkiff, and was a member of Carpenters Local 302 for 41 years. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Edward Wilson and Delmar Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Ida Huffman Wilson; one son and daughter-in-law, Glenn Ray and Kathy Wilson of Scott Depot; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Charles “Chuck” and Natalie Dyer of West Hamlin; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Deanna “Dee” and J.W. Dick of Huntington; two grandchildren, Tyler Ray and Courtney Wilson of Scott Depot; one sister, Lois Pack of Salt Rock; one brother, Hersel Wilson of Huntington; father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles and Cloie Huffman of Huntington; a sister-in-law, Bertha Wilson of West Hamlin; many loving nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County.

Vivyan L. Porter
Vivyan L. Porter, 88, of Barboursville, died Monday, September 4, 2000, at the Inn at Wyngate. Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 8, 2000, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Dwight Barker. Burial in Spring Valley Memorial Gardens. She was born April 17, 1912, in Waco, Texas, a daughter of the late Milton and Unity Pyle Spickard. She was retired from Huntington State Hospital and was a member of New Life Church. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Payne. She is survived by four granddaughters, Cindy S. Gibbs of Charleston, Vickie G. Moore of Barboursville, Deborah L. Harrison of Tigart, Ore., and Jeannie Edwards of the Virgin Islands; one grandson, Jamie Edwards of Tampa, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Adam Moore, Timothy Miller and Christie Karbowski; and four great-great-grandchildren. Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Lester C. “Short” Harbour
Lester C. “Short” Harbour, 82, of Culloden, departed from this life to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 7, 2000, at his home. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, September 10, 2000, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Bill Davis and Minister Pete Davidson officiating. Burial in Culloden Cemetery. He was born on June 4, 1918, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Luid and Virgie Nimmo Harbour. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Elsworth and Winfred Harbour. “Short” was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired member of IBEW Local 317, where he was a journeyman lineman for 36 years, and a longtime supervisor for Pritchard Electric Company. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Pauline L. Clark Harbour; one daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Bill Lawson of Grandbury, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Sha Harbour of Barboursville, Allan and Paula Harbour of Gastonia, N.C., and Stephen and Kimberly Harbour of Huntington; one brother, Arlen Harbour of Cross Lanes; five grandchildren, Mark Lawson, Shane Lawson, Leslie Harbour, Matt Harbour and Andy Harbour, two great-grandchildren, Andrew Lawson and Haley Zerkle; special cousin, Charlotte Woods; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Huntington, P.O. Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709.

Ruby Mary Setliff
Ruby Mary Setliff, 95, of Ona, W.Va, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at Milton Funeral Home with Rev. Dallas Peyton officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. She was born April 12, 1905, in Ona, W.Va, a daughter of the late George Franklin and Ollie Belle McCrosky Reynolds. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ben E. Setliff. Survivors include one daughter and beloved son-in-law, Sonja and David Jolley of Huntington; one granddaughter, Angela Jarrell; two great-grandchildren, Kristy Jarrell and William E. “B. J.” and Carrie Jarrell; and one great-great-grandchild, Erica Dawn Jarrell.

Lillian Adkins
Lillian Adkins, 75, of Barboursville, passed away Sept. 9, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Jeff Sizemore. Burial in Adkins cemetery. She was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late Jordan and Louella Mae Jeffers Brock. She was a member of the Four Mile United Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abe Adkins in 1979. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Letha Lou and Steven Sparks of Columbus, Ohio, Sandra Bess-Davis and Larry Davis of Barboursville, and Sandra Louise Branch of Milton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Sandy Adkins of Oklahoma, Ralph and Donna Adkins of North Carolina; one sister, Willa Triplett of Salt Rock; two brothers, Vasco Brock of Lesage and Ephraim Brock of West Hamlin; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington, Box 464, Huntington, W.Va., 25709.

Velva S. Bias
Velva S. Bias, beloved aunt, departed this world on September 6, 2000, in Trinity Mother Francis Hospital, Tyler, Texas, with her family and friends by her side. She has gone home to be with Jesus. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, September 10, 2000 at Henson Mortuary by Rev. Dwight Barker. Burial in Woodmere Memorial Park. Mrs. Bias lived in the Huntington area most of her life. Due to her health, she moved to Whitehouse, Texas, in April of this year. Mrs. Bias was a retired secretary of the Veterans Administration office, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #8 for 50 years, and a member of New Life Church. She was born in Logan County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Nasby and Caroline Farley Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Bias, and a sister, Mousey Burgess. Several nieces and nephews survive.

Faye Spears Walker
Faye Spears Walker, 73, of Barboursville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Sept 12, 2000, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Minister Lloyd Mitchell. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born Jan. 24, 1927, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Marshall and Josie Graham Spears. She was a member of Barboursville Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Larra “Jiggs” Walker, one son Walter Walker, two sisters, Hazel Collins and Mary Bias; and two brothers, Clinton Spears and Clarence Spears. She is survived by four daughters, Janice Harmon and Debbie Walker, both of Huntington, Jennifer Tackett of Kenova and Jeanette Shafer of White Sulphur Springs; four sons, Larry Walker of Prichard, Raymond Walker and Johnny Walker, both of Huntington, and Fred Walker of White Sulphur Springs; one sister, Macie Cunningham of Kitts Hill, Ohio; one brother, Herman Spears of Proctorville, Ohio: 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Sharon Eloise Hysell
Sharon Eloise Hysell, 56, of Milton, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2000, at home. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 9, 2000, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville. Burial in Brown Cemetery. She was born on February 19, 1944, in Huntington a daughter of the late William Jennings Reynolds and Beulah Pauline Treadway Reynolds Collins. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Candice Whitt. She is survived by four daughters, Evony Whitt of Barboursville, Deborah Collins and Tima Phipps, both of Milton, and Kim Hysell of Hurricane; two sons and daughter-in-law, Ralph Collins Jr. and Amy Collins of Culloden, and Delbert Collins of Milton; one stepson, Darrell Hysell Jr. of Milton; one brother, Charles Reynolds of New York; seven grandchildren, Tiffany and Brittany Whitt, Brandon and Jacob Collins, Tyler Phipps, Mariah Meddings and Heaven Holley.

Herman Clifford Vickers
Herman Cilfford Vickers, 78, of Milton, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 9, 2000, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. Joe Dolen and Rev. Charles Elkins officiating. Burial in Balls Gap Cemetery, MIlton. He was born on May 24, 1922, in Lincoln County, W.Va., a son of the late Frank and Goldie Dillon Vickers. He was also preceded in death by one son, Pvt. Billy Joe Vickers, who passed away on April 8, 1968; and two brothers, Herston and Leonard Vickers. He was a member of Hashridge Baptist Church, Barboursville. He retired from Union Carbide after 40 years of service. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, Local 598, South Charleston. He is survived by his loving wife, Opal Edwards Vickers; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Sharon Vickers and Herman Dale and Teresa Vickers, all of Culloden, and Danny and Teresa Vickers of Balls Gap; four sisters, Louise Ashworth of Prichard, Opal Taylor and Lillie Davis, both of Barboursville, and Nellie Bailey of Huntington; one brother, James Vickers of Daytona Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren Sharon Dian Thacker, Jody Vickers, Mindy Ann Chapman, Tammy Renee Mahon, April Vickers, Danielle Renee Vickers and Billy Vickers; two stepgrandsons, Chad Clark and Will Williams; nine great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Olen James Skinner
Olen James Skinner, infant son of Erica Johnson and Travis Skinner of Hurricane, was stillborn August 26, 2000, in Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Also surviving: maternal grandparents, Tim & Faye Johnson of Hurricane; paternal grandmother, Christie Skinner of Hurricane; maternal great-grandparents, James Louis & Bonnie Johnson of Hurricane, Bob & Lola Estep of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Ida & Bill Gamboni of South Charleston; paternal great-grandparents, Olen & Imogene Caldwell of Hurricane; maternal great-great-grandparents, Don & Ruby Bird of Hurricane and Cyril Adkins of Beckley; paternal great-great-grandmother, Jewell Thornton Williamson of St. Albans.
Graveside service was held Tuesday, September 5, 2000, in Carpenter Cemetery, Hurricane. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.

James L. McCormick
James LeRoy McCormick, 51, of St. Albans, formerly of Winfield, died September 2, 2000, in the VA Medical Center, Huntington, after a short illness.
He was a self-employed carpenter and a lifelong resident of the Kanawha Valley. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and recipient of the Bronze Star, the South Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and two Purple Hearts.
Surviving: wife, Rebecca Ann McCormick; daughters, Janet Leigh Vannatter of Teays Valley, Luci Jane Meeks and Laura Jean McCormick, both of St. Albans; sons, James LeRoy II of Portland, Indiana and Jackson Lee of St. Albans; sisters, Barbara Gregory of Ashland, Ohio, Caroline Weber of Euclid, Ohio, Henrietta Booth of Fern Creek, Kentucky, Brenda Griffith of Avon, North Carolina, Irma Conley of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Mary Kay Hacker of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Beverly Post of St. Albans; brothers, Charles Leo and Willard Junior, both of St. Albans; nine grandchildren.
Service was held Tuesday, September 5, 2000, at Harvesttime Fellowship, Nitro. Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Kanawha County Unit, 2428 Kanawha Blvd. E, Charleston WV 25311.

Tracy Dean Cochran
Tracy Dean Cochran, 43, of West Palm Beach, Florida, formerly of Red House, died September 1, 2000 in Akron (Ohio) General Hospital after a short illness.
Surviving: wife, Debra Cochran; daughter, Cassandra Cochran of West Palm Beach; son, Jason Dean Cochran of West Palm Beach; mother, Virginia Martin Cochran of Red House; sisters, Lucy Palmer of West Palm Beach, Stella Cook of Danville and Debbie Moore of Red House; brothers, Douglas of Mount Zion, Illinois, Gary and Terry, both of West Palm Beach, Timothy of Columbus, Ohio, and Kerry of Byron, Georgia; several nieces and nephews.
Service was held Wednesday, September 6, 2000, at Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, with the Rev. Arles Covert officiating.

Gwendolyn C. Conrad
Gwendolyn Canfield Conrad, 71, of Hurricane, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, died September 4, 2000, in Putnam General Hospital after a long illness.
She was a homemaker, a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Hurricane, and attended the John D. Henson Senior Center.
Surviving: sons, Clinton Glen of Salem, Ohio, John of Columbiana, Ohio, and Eddie Conrad of Oak Hill, Florida; brother, Floyd B. Canfield of Hurricane; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
Service was held Thursday, September 7, 2000, at Lighthouse Baptist Church with Pastor Gerry White and the Rev. Howard Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Israel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Kerns. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2440 U.S. Route 60, Hurricane WV 25526.

William C. Cunningham
William C. “Bill” Cunningham, 79, if Middleport, Ohio, formerly of Poca, died September 6, 2000, in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, after a long illness.
He was a riverboat captain for 60 years.
Surviving: daughters, Carol Echols of Poca, Sherry Wise and Judy Mattea, both of Middleport; sons, Jim of Nitro, and Randy of Cross Lanes; brothers, Bob of Hurricane and Jim of Huntington; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Service was held Friday, September 8, 2000, at Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens Chapel, Red House, with the Rev. John Taylor officiating. Burial was in the memorial gardens. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret A. Reddick
Margaret A. Reddick, 71, of Hurricane died September 5, 2000, in Teays Valley Nursing Center after a long illness.
She was retired from P&C Food Co., New York, and was a native of Syracuse, New York.
Surviving: sons, Tom of Hurricane, Steve of California and Michael of Syracuse; daughters, Jackie Krahl of Bridgeport, New York and Julie Davis of Clay, New York; brother, Gene Allen of Syracuse; sisters, Marian Collins of Binghamton, New Yoir, Doris Pier and Altha Ott, both of Florida; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Service was held Friday, September 8, 2000, at Haven of Rest Mausoleum Chapel, Red House, with the Rev. Harold B. White Jr. officiating. Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, was in charge of arrangements.

Thurman E. Chapman
Thurman Everette Chapman, 77, of Fraziers Bottom died September 9, 2000, in Anna's Personal Care Home, Ona.
He was retired from ACF Industries, Huntington.
Suirviving: daughter, Quilla Brumfield of Milton; sons, Eugene of Huntington and Everette A. of Milton; sisters, Mable Gibson of Nitro and Nancy Adkins of Culloden; brothers, Ray of Lesage, Orville, Lloyd, Wesley and Carl, all of Milton, Charles of Fraziers Bottom, and Clifford of Ashton; two grandchildren.
Service was held Tuesday, September 12, 2000, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Joe Dolen officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Fraziers Bottom.
