Linda Kay Pike
Linda Kay Pike, 53, of Huntington, wife of James W. Pike, died Wednesday, December 13, 2000 in St. Mary's Hospital. Also surviving are her mother, Freda Gilpin; two brothers, Butch Gilpin of Proctorville, Ohio, and William Mount of Glenwood, and three sisters, Robin Thomas of Huntington, LaDonna Gilpin of Milton and Pam Dutton of Glenwood. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, December 15, 2000 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton; burial in Ball's Chapel Cemetery, Ashton.

Troy Boggess
Troy Boggess, 79, of Dunbar, husband of Virginia Melton Boggess, died Wednesday in Sunbridge of Dunbar. Also surviving are three sons, Ray Boggess of Winfield, Greg Boggess of Myrtle Beach, S.C, and Terry Boggess of Fort Bragg, Calif.; and one sister, Opal Stein of Kimberly. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Sue Templeton
Sue Templeton, 58, of Milton passed on to Gloryland on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital. Commemorative services were conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Bill Davis and Minister Pete Davidson officiating. Burial followed in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. She was born on June 8, 1942, in Cabell County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Guy and Anna Pancake Morrison She was also preceded in her death by her nephew, Brandon Stepp. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Ona. She was a 1960 Milton High School graduate. She was also a graduate of the Huntington Business College. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Templeton; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sherri Templeton of Hurricane; one sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Harry Hixenbaugh of Milton; special niece, Ronda Church; two very special people in Sue's life, her granddaughter, Tatum Templeton, and great-niece, Julianna Church; a host of family and friends.

Charlene Turner
Charlene Turner, 64, of Ona, W.Va., passed away Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at her residence. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m Saturday at the Barboursville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses Church, Huntington, W.Va., by Elder Alan Ruble. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WVa. She was born April 24,1936, in Cabell County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Jay and Lillian McClasky Ward. She was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois Glass Co. She was a member of the Hurricane Congregation of Jehovah's Witness Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Ward and Charles Ward. Survivors include her husband, Earl R. Turner; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Ray and Nancy Turner of Huntington, WVa, and James Gregory and Kerri Turner of Hurricane, W.Va.; one daughter, Lana Kay Spence of Ona, W.V; four grandchildren, Angela Nicole Spence of Ona, WVa, Jamie Louise Turner and Jay Turner, both of Hurricane, WVa, and Kayla Suzanne Turner of Huntington, WVa.; and three sisters, Marlene Comer of Texas, Lois Napier of Huntington, WVa., and Patsy Seng of Ohio. Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, WVa, was in charge of arrangements.

Odessa Pauline Adkins
Odessa Pauline Adkins, 90, of Huntington died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at home. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel. Entombment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born July 30, 1910, in Raleigh County, a daughter of the late James Reed and Oney Kessinger Reed. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Custer Adkins and one daughter, Janice Marie James. She was a member of Thomas Memorial Free Will Baptist Church for 60 years. She is survived by two sons, J.D. Frazier and his wife, Patricia, of Ona, and Robert Frazier of Huntington; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; neighbors and friends.

Larry Gene Cooper
Larry Gene Cooper, 61, of Barboursville, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. Greg Jordan. Burial in Forest Memorial Park. He was born March 13, 1939 in Lesage, WV, a son of the late Herbert and Ada Aliff Cooper. He was also preceded in death by one nephew, Raymond Thompson. He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Loretta Lewis Cooper; four daughters, Lisa Kauffer and her husband, Terry, Susie Nicely and her husband, Troy, Kristi Brown and her husband, Toddy, Melody Cooper and her fiance, Chad Freeman; three sons, Steve Cooper and his wife, Misty, Timmy Cooper and his wife, Dani, Kns Cooper and his wife, Pat; two sisters, Mary Lou Thompson and her husband, Richard, Susie Mauck and her husband, Buddy; two sisters-in-law, Clara Jean Lewis Chapman and her husband, Donald, Debbie Lewis Beckelheimer and her husband, Richard; his father and mother-in-law, Luther and Evon Lewis; life-time friends, Donald Elkins, Paul Adams, Donnie Chapman and Ronald Cooper, and special friend, Jan Berry Hatfield.

John C. E. Hicks
John C. E. Hicks, 91, of Milton, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Milton, with Pastor Chelcie Gibson and Rev. Jim Legg officiating. Burial in Chestnut Grove Cemetery. He was born September 10, 1909 in Putnam County, WV, a son of the late Oscar and Lula Searls Hicks. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Agnes Cooper Hicks and Eveleen Sargent Hicks; two sisters, Elsie Hayes and Juanita Templeton; and a brother, Freemont Hicks. He was retired from Chemtron and a longtime member of Local Union OCAW 3-80. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita Kate and Joe Holley and Rose Karen and Benny Courts, all of Milton; two grandchildren, Jennifer Holley of Huntington, and Anthony Courts and his spouse, Vickie Courts, of Milton; two great-grandchildren, Amber Courts and Tyler Courts, both of Milton; and step-granddaughter, Shelia Foster of Culloden; three sisters, Mola Ashworth and Theresa Lewis, both of Milton and Beaulah Powell of Huntington; a brother, Clarence Hicks of Milton; and a special caregiver, Gary Wilson of Milton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Milton Baptist or Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, of which he was a lifelong member. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas A. Cyrus
Thomas A. Cyrus, 60, of Hampton, Va., formerly of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on December 20, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 23, 2000, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. A. Curtis Cupp officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born September 22, 1940, in St Albans, W.Va, a son of the late Walter and Lola Thomas Cyrus. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jean Duty; and brother, Phillip Cyrus. He was president of the Peninsula Rebar Inc., Hampton, Va., and a member of the West Virginia Engineers Club, Huntington. He is survived by his loving wife, Dora Ann Cyrus; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dr. Pamela A. Cyrus of Madison, Conn., and Sandra A. and James C. Herwig of Norfolk, Va.; one brother, William L. Cyrus of Milton; two sisters, Juanita Ashworth of Milton and Mary Lou Sanders of Norfolk, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Pauline Mae Nicholson
Pauline Mae Nicholson, 80, of Milton, widow of Orvie L. Nichols Sr., died Wednesday, December 20, 2000 at home. Survivors include one daughter, Lula Nicholson Bowling of Pikeville, Ky.; one son, Orvie L. Nicholson Jr. of South Charleston; and three sisters, Florence Ball of Milton, Emaline Williamson of Ona and Eunice Fields of Rural Hall, N.C. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 24, 2000 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton; burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.

Martha C. Jackson
Martha C. Jackson, 65, of Lesage, wife of Henry G. Jackson, died Monday, December 18, 2000 in St. Mary's Hospital. Also surviving are two sons, Richard L. Jackson of North Carolina and Henry Jackson Jr. of Miami; three daughters, Donna Mousavi of Miami, Connie A. Hayes of Bossier City, La., and Bobbie L. Cockrell of Kernersville, N.C.; and two sisters, Margie Brooks of Sebring, Fla., and Janie Locklier of Andalusia, Ala. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 21, 2000 at Apostolic Life Cathedral Huntington; burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, was in charge of arrangements.

Thelma C. Beckett
Thelma C. Beckett, 90, of Salt Rock, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, December 17, 2000. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 20, 2000, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Ray Adkins and Pastor Bill Cassady. Burial in Baylous Cemetery. She was born August 15, 1910, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late David and Inez Bias Childers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie “Pooch” Beckett, and three sons, Harold “Tom” Beckett, Darrell “Bub” Beckett and Edward G. “Ed” Beckett. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She is survived and will be sadly missed by one daughter and son-in-law, Deloris and Denzil Childers of Barboursville; four sons and five daughters-in-law, Frank Beckett, Larry and Sue Beckett, Bernard and Kathryn Beckett, Pat and Donna Beckett and Delores Beckett, all of Salt Rock, and Nila Jean Beckett of Barboursville; loving friend and special caregiver, Elsie Kitchen, and caregiver Susie James; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends. The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington and Hospice of Lincoln County.

Clyde Yoho Jr.
Clyde Yoho Jr., 75, of Evans, W Va., formerly of Ona, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2000, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 20, 2000, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Sam Vance officiating. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Clyde was born on January 28, 1925 in Cabell County, W.Va, a son of the late, Clyde Sr. and Margaret Estella Stevens Yoho. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise Grimes Yoho, who went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 1998; two brothers, Dale Clinton and James E Yoho; and one sister, Opal Cazad. He was a retired accountant for Kaiser Aluminum. He also worked for International Nickel and Steiner's. He a U.S. Marine Corps World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and James McDonald of Muncie, Ind., and Rhonda and Richard Shriver of Fairview, W.Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Roberta Yoho of Evans, W.Va.; five sisters, Maye Curry of Akron, Ohio, Geneva Smith of Ironton, Ohio, Geneva Shaffer of Akron, Ohio, Bettie Rhodes of Richland, Wash., and Margie Perry of Canvas, W.Va. two brothers, Denver Yoho of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Allen Yoho of Masillon, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Martin McDonald, Mathew Aaron and Sarah Jane Yoho and Luke Shriver.

Twila Jean Junkins
Twila Jean Jolly Junkins, 58, of Poca, formerly of Wheeling, died December 17, 2000, in SunBridge Nursing Center after a long illness.
She was a native of Charleston, a caregiver and attended Grace Church of the Nazarene, South Charleston.
Surviving: sons, Dwayne and Kevin, both of Wheeling; mother, Virginia Bailey Jolly of Poca; sister, Sharon Wiles of Poca; six grandchildren.
Service was held Wednesday, December 20, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, South Charleston, with the Rev. Floyd Holmes officiating. Burial was in the memorial park. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Opal O. Kerwood
Opal O. Kerwood, 87, of Poca died December 19, 2000, in SunBridge Nursing Center, Hurricane, after a long illness.
She was a member of Rock Branch Independent Church, Nitro, the church choir, Hometown Senior Citizens and its choir and the Rebekahs, Poca.
Surviving: daughters, Bonnie Hawley of Leon, Anna Rigsby of Hill Tops Lake, Texas, and Edith Lain of Oquawka, Illinois; son, Gary of Hurricane; brother, Curtis Schiltz of Ashton; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Service was held Thursday, at Rock Branch Independent Church with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Red House. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Shaun McKay
Shaun McKay, 36, of Red House died December 20, 2000 at home.
He was a former employee of the state Lottery Commission and a student at Putnam Career/Technical Center.
Surviving: son, Christopher Roberts of Huntington; brother, Neil Chakrabarty of Sissonville.
Graveside service was held Wednesday, December 27, 2000, in Highland Cemetery, Huntington. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, was in charge of arrangements.
