Richard A. Walker
Richard A. Walker, 47, of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
He had lived in Virginia for 45 days and was formerly of Poca. He was employed by Forever Resorts in Virginia. He was a former employee of John Amos Power Plant, a member of the Moose Lodge and the Fraternal Order of Eagles and an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Elaine Walker.
Surviving: son, Joshua Walker of Poca; sisters, Barbara Burdette of Ohio, Janet Arbogast of Dayton, Ohio, Carolyn Fisher of Paradise, Drema Bailey of Willis, Virginia, and Linda Webb of Charleston.
Service was held Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, with Pastor John Taylor officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Mildred Salisbury
Mildred Salisbury, 69, of Scott Depot died May 8 2002, at Hubbard Hospice House after a short illness.
She was a former employee of National Bank of Commerce. She was an avid bridge player and a graduate of Stonewall Jakson High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Salisbury Sr., parents, Merritt and Edith Bridges, and son, David Wayne Canterbury.
Surviving: son, Douglas Canterbury and wife, Irene of Winfield; stepdaughters, Jo Ann Zulkoski of North Carolina and Helen Kelley and husband Steve of Lexington, Kentucky; stepson, Howard Salisbury Jr. and wife Patty of Charleston; sisters, Helen Silman and Marie Pierce, both of Teays Valley; eight stepgrandchildren.
Service was held Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Winfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas McComas officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hubbard Hospice House.

Ruby O. Stickler
Ruby O. Stickler, 87, of Hurricane died May 31, 2002, at Morris Memorial Nursing Home, Milton, after a long illness.
She was a member of Teays Valley Missionary Baptist Church, a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Putnam County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Stickler.
Surviving: daughter, Justine McCallister of Hurricane.
Service was held Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with Dr. John Smith and Pastor Bruce Young officiating. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.

Tressie V. Slater
Tressie V. Slater, 86, of Eleanor died Saturday, June 1, 2002, in Putnam General Hospital after a long illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Putnam County and had lived in Eleanor for 19 years. She was a member of Hometown Senior Citizens and a long time member of the Putnam County Democrat Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frankie and Martha Bailey, sisters, Lillian Blankenship and Marie Parsons, brothers, Hubert, Golden and Jewel Eugene Bailey.
Surviving: husband, Lovel Slater; daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Woody Workman of Lanham, Pearlie and Kenneth Tinsley of Big Tyler Mountain, Mary Bernice and Jack Workman of Confidence; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Euphema Christy of Rock Branch, Juanita Bailey of Kerr, Ohio, and Helena Milam of Grandview Ridge.
Service was held Monday, June 3, 2002, at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Mausoleum Chapel, Cross Lanes, with the Rev. Ray Humphrey officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald Lee Black Jr.
Ronald Lee Black Jr, 43, of Barboursville, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2002. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Fred Anderson. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born July 5, 1958, in Huntington, a son of Ronald Lee Black Sr. of Huntington and Eva Joann Wright Black of Barboursville. He was an employee of Blenko Glass of Milton. He is also survived by his wife, Diana Rager Black; one daughter, Alecia Lynn Black and her fiance’, Chris Scarberry; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Herbie Carson of Lynchburg, Va.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Tracy Black of Barboursville; one granddaughter, Ashton Paige Scarberry; several nieces and nephews and a special godson, Ronnie Tyler Adam Edwards. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Joan Wentz Crisel
Joan Wentz Crisel, 66, of Huntington, our precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter and sister, entered into eternal life to be with the Lord on May 31, 2002 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Heron Adkins. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born Feb. 21, 1936 in Huntington, a daughter of the late John Henry and Inez Adkins Cremeans. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Patsy Jean Cremeans. She is survived by one daughter, Kim Oglesbee and her husband, Sam, of Lavalette; three sons, Byron Taylor and his wife, Becky, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Curtis Wentz of Proctorville, Ohio, and Todd Wentz and his wife, Kelli, of Huntington; her loving mother, Leona Cremeans Gerlach of Huntington; four sisters Margaret Nida of Barboursville, Jenny Brumfield and her husband, Richard, of Huntington; and Sonda Cardwell and her husband, Henry, of Reidsville, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Tessa, Jessica, Ben, Laura, Adam, Daniel, Adam and Tyler, four great-grandchildren, Dakota, Toby, Carson and Josh; several nieces and nephews, and her special pet, Meko “Puppy”. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Elma Yvonne Bledsoe Lewis
Elma Yvonne Bledsoe Lewis, 79, of Barboursville, passed away Friday, May 31, 20O2 at home. Funeral services were conducted at 1 pm Monday, June 3, 20O2 at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by Pastor Bill Cassady and Pastor James Jobe. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born January 18, 1923, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Johnny and Gertrude Butcher Bledsoe. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Lewis; one daughter Beverly Ann Lewis; one sister, Opal Lewis; one brother, Russell Bledose; and one son-in-law, Larry Cooper. She was the loving mother of Loretta Cooper, Clara Chapman and Deborah Beckelheimer, all of Barboursville. Also surviving are two sons-in-law, Donald Chapman and Charles Beckelheimer; two sisters, Kathleen Gwinn of Barboursville and Madelyn Clark of Ona; one brother, Elmo Bledsoe of Barboursville; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The family would especially like to thank St. Mary’s Home Health Care Services and Dr. Timothy Saxe, and a very special thank you to her granddaughter, Kristi Brown, for her loving care.

Harry “Rondal” Jenkins
Harry “Rondal” Jenkins, 72, of Lesage, husband of Daisey Cremeans Jenkins, died Sunday in St. Mary’s Hospital. He was a retired sheet metal worker with Ensign Electric. Also surviving are his mother, Melcie Black Jenkins Edmonds and stepfather Charles Edmonds, both of Glenwood; a son Terry M. Jenkins of Lesage; a sister, Wanda Mae Erwin of Grayson, Ky.; and a brother, Billy Don Edmonds of Elgin, Ill. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday at Chapman’s Mortuary; burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.

Alpha Elizabeth Keckler
Mrs. Alpha Elizabeth Keckler, 89 of Barboursville, passed away May 31, 2002 at Teays Center. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m Monday, June 3, 2002, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, by Minister David Gladwell. Burial in Waugh Cemetery. She was born March 10, 1913, in Hamlin, a daughter of the late William Edward and Lavena Waugh Hilbert. She was a member of the Barboursville Church of Christ, a retired employee of Huntington Manufacturing and she was blessed with an artistic talent, and she fulfilled her dream of being able to paint after her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Anderson Keckler; one great-grandson, Justin Noe; and five sisters, Lois Glenn, Fern Wilson, Sara Rose Hatfield, Winnith Holley and Janice Clay. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Bea and Leon Enochs of Columbus, Ohio, and Judy and Roger Noe of Barboursville; one sister, Edna Buford McGinnis of Branchland; five grandchildren, Andrea Chafin and her husband Todd, Shawn Enochs, Matthew Noe and his wife Jennifer, Seth Noe and his wife Cindy, and Jared Noe; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Mandy Noe; and several nieces and nephews. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Marcus A. “Marc” Dent
Marcus A. “Marc” Dent, 83, of Barboursville, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 28, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 30, 2002 at Fellowship Baptist Church by Dr. Jerry Warren. Graveside services were conducted Friday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born September 26, 1918, in Wetzel County, a son of the late Dudley E. and Minnie Hayes Dent. He was a former employee of INCO Alloys, a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II, and was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Stoneking Dent; one daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Dewey Davis of Patriot, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry E. and Sue Dent of New Martinsville, W.Va.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church or Huntington City Mission.

Pansie Hazel Bell
Pansie Hazel Bell, 91, of Ona, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002, in Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation for Putnam. Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 31, 2002, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial in Maupin Cemetery. She was born June 13, 1910, a daughter of the late William and Gertrude Hinkle Bird. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donella N. Bell; one son, Billy Bell; one daughter, Mildred Johnson. Pansie was one of 12 children and was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. She was a retired LPN having worked for Dr. Henson for over 20 years. She is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, Jerry and Sarah Bell of Culloden, James and Sandy Bell of Ona, and Gaye Bell of Hurricane; one brother, Nello Bird of Yawkey; one sister, Anita Faye Tabor of Hamlin; five grandchildren, Jane Ellen, Jerri Ann, Joan Leigh, Shawn and Shane; and six great-grandchildren.

Dreama Kay Mentz Boster
Dreama Kay Mentz Boster, 47, of Barboursville, wife of Jeff Boster, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002. Also surviving are a stepmother, Helen Mentz; three stepsons, Brandon Boster, Joseph Kennedy and Joshua Boster; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Kennedy; three brothers, Randy Guthrie of Winterspring, Fla., J.D. Mentz of South Point, Ohio, an Stephen Mentz of Rixford, Pa.; and two sisters, Crystal Davis of Hughesville, Pa., and Angela Clark of Pennsylvania. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 1, 2002 at Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Barboursville; burial in Woodmere Memorial Park.

Barry Dean Brown
Barry Dean Brown, 49, of Barboursville died May 23, 2002 at home. Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 31, 2002 at Grafton National Cemetery, Grafton. Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington, was in charge of arrangements.

Dreama Kay Mentz Boster
Dreama Kay Mentz Boster, 47, of Barboursville, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 28, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 1, 2002 at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by Pastor Don Irby and Pastor Kenny Estep. Burial in Woodmere Memorial Park. She was born May 14, 1955 in Huntington, a daughter of Opal Guthrie Hughes of Orlando, Fla., and Julian Mentz of Montgomery, Pa. She was a charter member of Abundant Life Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Boster; her mother-in-law, Wanda Boster; her stepmother, Helen Mentz; three stepsons, Brandon Boster, Joseph Kennedy, and Joshua Boster; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Kennedy; three brothers, Randy Guthrie of Winterspring, Fla., J.D. Mentz and his wife Debbie of South Point, Ohio, Stephen Mentz and his wife Jennifer of Rixford, Pa.; two sisters, Crystal Davis and her husband Gary of Hughesville, Pa., and Angela Clark and her husband, Greg, of Erie, Pa.; three nieces, Chelsea Mentz, Jennifer Guthrie, and Kayla Guthrie; one nephew, Austin Mentz; and a lot of family and friends.
