Robert Eugene Adkins
Robert Eugene Adkins, 56, of Barboursville passed away Saturday, August 17, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Richard McGlone and Rev. Charlie Norris. Burial in Cedar Cliff Cemetery. He was born June 23,1946, in Wayne County, a son of the late Hallie and Nettie Sansom Adkins. He was retired from Steel of West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Betty Adkins; one son, Robert Dale Adkins of Barboursville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Polly and Richard Adkins mid Linda and Bill Smith, all of Huntington; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jackie and Faye Adkins of Milton, Joe and Karen Adkins of Barboursville and Jimmy Adkins of Barboursville; eight nieces; five nephews; a host of friends; and two special nieces he considered his granddaughters, Becci Mace and Sarah “Bug Adkins” Mace. Deanna L. Crawford, 21, of Glenwood, W.Va, formerly of Ona W Va passed away August 8, 2002. She was born February 27, 1981, in Huntington. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Garnet L Dailey and her grandfather, Dave Jeffrey. Survivors include a son, D’Angelo Austin Crawford of Glenwood, W.Va.; parents Terry and Angie Crawford of Ona, W.Va., and Brenda Bailey of Glenwood, W.Va.; four brothers, Brian and Jacob Crawford of Ona, W.Va, and Joshua and Nathan Bailey of Glenwood, W.Va.; grandparents William “Doodle’ and LaAnna Crawford and Janet Jeffrey, all of Salt Rock W.Va, Lee Dailey of Lesage, W.Va.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who cared for Deanna very much. Stacy Clint Doss, 33, of Ashton, W.Va., passed away Thursday, August 15, 2002 in Winfield, W.Va. Funeral service were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2002, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial in Mount Zion Cemetery. He was born January 17, 1969, a son of the late Thomas D. Doss and Delphia E. Doss of Ashton, He was a ember of the National Rifle Association. Mildred “Faye” Webb Eldridge
Mildred “Faye” Webb Eldridge, 79, of Ona, W.Va., cherished mother and beloved grandmother, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 16, 2002, after a long illness. She was born July 23, 1923, in Lake, W.Va., a daughter of the late Brady and Shirley White Baldwin. Also preceding her in death are a sister, Maudie Dials and grandson, Andy Burgess. She was a devoted homemaker who taught by example that love was the greatest gift of all. She is survived by her husband, Walter Eldridge of Titusville, Fla.; seven children, Linda Ward and Bill Webb of Lake City, Fla., Sharon Hand of Lenoir, N.C., Larry Webb, Judy Davis and Lisa Fyffe, all of Orlando, Fla., and Debbie Hensley of Ona, WVa; 10 grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11 am, Monday, August 19, 2002, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel with the Rev. Woodrow Chambers officiating. Burial followed in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Flo Eloise Estep, 75, of Milton passed away Friday, August 16, 2002, at her residence. Burial followed in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. She was born April 5,1927, in Cabell County, WVa., a daughter of the late Chancy and Dora Bailey. William James Fisher, 68, of Milton went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 16, 2002, at his residence. He was pastor of UBI, Blue Sulphur. He was also a veteran of the US. Marine Corps. He is survived by his loving wife, Polly Black Fisher; one son, James T. Fisher and wife Billie of Milton; one daughter, Judith Faye Fisher Reynolds and husband Larry of Celina, Tenn.; one brother, Stewart Lee Fisher of Milton; four granddaughters; three grandsons;. four great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and a host of friends and neighbors. Charles Robert Foster
Charles Robert Foster, 88, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 13, in St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17th, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. David Ashworth and Dr. Stan Maynard officiating. Burial followed in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born February 14,1914, a son of the late George Walter and Gertrude Garnet Chapman Foster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl Foster, Everett Foster, Jim Foster, George Foster; four sisters, Emma Black, Madge Blevins, Mildred Foster and Bertha Scott. He was a retired employee of INCO and was a member of Quarter Century Club. He was past president of the Milton Lions Club and was a member of Church in the Valley and a Kentucky Colonel. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Black Foster; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Janet Clark, Teresa and Gary Bills, Lisa and Richard Chambers; one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Dolores Foster; three grandchildren Tina and Thad Caldwell, Tracy and Kara Clark, and Gina Davis; six great-grandchildren, Curt Clark, Rayce Clark, Madeline Clark, T J Caldwell, Camilla Caldwell, and Taylor Davis. James H. “Whitey - Uncle Howard” Jobe
James H. “Whitey - Uncle Howard” Jobe, 79, of Barboursville passed away Saturday, August 17, 2002 at his residence. Graveside services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Oaklawn Memorial Park by Rev Craig Coster. He was born August 21, 1922, in Barboursville, a son of the late Cecil C. and Edith Queen Jobe. He was a member of Barboursville Baptist Church, a veteran of the US. Army Air Corp, serving during WWII in India; an independent builder and developed part of Samuels Avenue in Barboursville. He is survived by three sisters, Blanche Derthidenko of Barboursville, Rosemary Vidovich of Wilkinson, W Va. and Hattie Lewis of Chapmanville, W.Va. and three brothers, Hubert Jobe and John Jobe, both of Barboursville, and Paul Logan of Tampa, Fla. He had many nieces and nephews, who he cherished and loved and who loved him. William F. “Bill” Johnson, 57, W.Va, American Legion State Adjutant from Barboursville, W.Va., died August 15, 2002, after a short illness. Funeral services were held at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, Saturday August 17, 2002, at 1 p.m.. with the Rev. David Cardwell and the Rev. Jack Squires officiating. Burial followed at Baylous Cemetery, Salt Rock. Military graveside rites were conducted by VFW Post #9738 Honor Guard, Huntington, W.Va. He was the son of the late Daniel and Emma Laing Sullivan and Wetzel Johnson of Lewisburg, W.Va. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Pamela Kay Adkins Johnson; a son, Daniel Johnson and his wife, Kim of Barboursville; a daughter, Debbie Johnson of Lewisburg; a stepdaughter, Robin Brock and her husband Charles D. of Barboursville; one sister Marilyn Jones and her husband Bob of Eleanor, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Alexander Johnson and Samantha Bryant; three stepgrandchildren, Megan Hall, Terry Brock and Nicole Blackburn and her husband Nathaniel; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Maria Blackburn and Chloe Brock; a mother-in-law, Mildred Adkins of Barboursville; two special friends, Bob and Margaret Vass, Sr, and a host of family and friends. He was a life member of the American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9738 and Disabled Veterans Chapter 28. He was also a member of the 25th Infantry Division Association Moose Lodge 2586, National Rifle Association, Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada and 40&8 Voiture 1087 and was a Kentucky Colonel. He proudly served two tours in Vietnam and earned the Purple Heart. He worked diligently for veterans of West Virginia to insure their welfare and rights and will be much missed by all that knew him. Opal Mae Holton, 79. of Salt Rock, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 17, 2002, at Henson Mortuary by the Rev. Robert Adkins. Burial followed in Green Valley Cemetery, Salt Rock. She was born May 28, 1923, in Lincoln County, daughter of the late James and Ouillie Jeffers Cremeans. She was also preceded in death by her husband William Holton in 1998, and a son Glenn Holton in 1978. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Salt Rock. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Marsha Holton of Salt Rock; daughter-in-law Becky Holton of Barboursville; sister Lois Ferguson of Barboursville; five grandchildren, Chris and Chad Holton of Irmo, S.C., Gillis DeWitt of Pensacola, Fla., Bethany Keyser of Salt Rock and Paul Holton II of Huntsville, Ala.; and great-grandchildren Morgan, Eric, Nick, Meredith and Sullivan Holton, Tyler, Justin and Andrew DeWitt, and Bryce and Alex Keyser. Burial followed at Oaklawn Memorial Park. She was born February 3, 1984, in Huntington, a daughter of Keith and Jeanne Sheets Leary of Milton. Allison was a 2002 graduate of Cabell Midland High School. She was employed by Outback Steak House. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ernest Sheets. Warren Dean. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. She was born February 1, 1914, in Cabell County, W.Va., daughter of the late Arthur and Laura L. Warden Jarrell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Forest Mason in 1996. Mrs. Mason was a member of Barboursville Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Betty Collins of St. Albans, WV; grandchildren Rick Collins of Milton and Laura Heizer of Lincoln County; and great-grandchildren Christopher Collins and Sky Heizer.
Kathryn Grueser
Mrs. Kathryn “Katie” Hazlett Grueser, 85, of Poca died August 5, 2002, at her home.
Katie was a retired LPN from Thomas Memorial Hospital. After her retirement, she was still very active in the nursing profession throughout the Kanawha Valley until she was 84. She was a member of Forest Rose Rebekah Lodge 143, Poca. where she held offices including Past Grand Noble. She had been awarded the Decoration of Chivalry from the lodge for her saving someone’s life. She loved to collect music boxes. She was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church, Red House.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Grueser Sr.; two sisters, Maude Hazlett and Mary Frances Lawson, and one brother, Harold Hazlett.
Surviving: daughter, Elizabeth Quigley of Hurricane; sons, Harold W. “Skip” Grueser Jr. of Poca and Michael Grueser of Dunbar; sister, Mabel “Bubbles” Anderson of Poca; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Service was held Thursday, August 8, 2002, at Riverside Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Hanna officiating. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Red House. William L. Davis
William L. “Bill” Davis, 67, of Hometown died August 8, 2002, in Putnam General Hospital.
Mr. Davis was a retired construction worker.
Surviving: wife, Norma Jean Davis; children, Tracy Davis of Hometown and Vicky Johnson of Brunswick, Ohio; brothers, Woodrow “Benny” Davis of Leesburg, Florida, Gary Davis of St. Albans, Gene Davis of Black Betsy, and Danny Davis of Melbourne, Florida; sisters, June Hively of Titusville, Florida, Jenny Fox of Eleanor, and Betty Bailey of Nitro; one grandchild.

Lena Mae Young, 80, of Hurricane died Friday, August 9, 2002, in CAMC General Hospital after a long illness.
She was a retired Putnam County School teacher and a member of Pleasant View Church of God.
Surviving: son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Shirley Young of Hurricane; sister, Joann Mallory of Spring Hill.
Service was held Monday, August 12, 2002, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Danny Hughes officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Timothy Edward White
Timothy Edward White, 57, of Poca died August 9, 2002, at home from a sudden illness.
He was born on August 27, 1944 in St. Albans, the second son of Virginia Wheatley White and the late Matthew Weldon White. He waa a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, St. Albans. He attended Concord College and was a graduate of Morris Harvey College with a BA in English.
He owned a private investigation firm and was a former investigator with the Attorney General’s Office, the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Dunn & Bradstreet. He served as a U.S. Air Force intelligence specialist in the United States and overseas, inclduing in Southeast Asia. He was a pilot and an avid gardener and was skilled at carpentry and mechanics.
Surviving; mother, Virginia White; wife, Patricia Elaine White; stepdaughters, Kara Perry of Greensboro, North Carolina and Shannon Haning of Poca; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Weldon and Jeannie Martin White of St. Albans; nieces, Melissa Jean White and Virginia White Slicer, both of Charleston; nephew, Thomas Weldon White Jr. of St. Albans; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; uncles and cousins.
Service was held Monday, August 12, 2002, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funera Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Loretta Isaiah officiaitng. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. John Edwin Greene
John Edwin Greene, 89, of Milton, passed away August 8, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 11, 2002 at Milton Baptist Church, Milton, with Dr. T.J. DuBose officiating. Entombment in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. He was born January 28, 1913, in Albany, Ohio, a son of the late E.H. and Elizabeth Sansom Greene. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Garnet Ailstock. John was a graduate of Albany High School, Albany, Ohio. He also studied at George Washington University, Washington, D.C., where he obtained his nursing home administration degree. He was the administrator and president of Morris Memorial Nursing Home, Milton; former owner and president of Kyova Construction Co., Huntington; member of Milton Baptist Church; member of Masonic Lodge, KY; instrumental in the establishment of the Cabell County Fair Scholarship Fund, which has presented scholarships in excess of $90,000 to students; life member and instrumental in the organization of the Mason County Farm Museum; member of Milton Centennial Committee; and a WSAZ Hometown Hero. He was a member of the Democrat Men’s Club, and in 1962 was appointed campaign manager for the Democrat Party for Cabell County, he was victorious in his efforts and gave his time and resources to serve his community, he was past-president of the Milton Lions Club, President of the Milton Chapter of the Kentucky Colonels, Director of the West Virginia Cattleman’s Association, member of the Agricultural Hall of Fame, Fellow of the American College of Nursing Home Administrators, founder and past-president of the Professional Nursing Home Association of West Virginia, and past chairman of the Town of Milton Recreation Board.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose E. Greene; two daughters, Christine Keys of Barboursville and Shirley Smith of Huntington; stepdaughter Nancy Mills of Milton; a twin brother, Edward H. Greene of Huntington; a brother Davis Greene of Albany, Ohio; one sister, Betty Hosenmeir of Columbus, Ga.; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was retired from the C&O Railroad after 39 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Vickey Henry; one sister, Ruby Moore of Lesage; six sons, Larry E. Henry of Barboursville, David Kent Henry, Harland Henry, Lonnie Lester, Timmy Lester, and Eric Lester, all of Lesage; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. James Alexander Eich
James Alexander Eich, 82, of Ona, W.Va. died Friday, August 9, 2002 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be held in Bartow, Fla., at a later date. Burial in Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow. He was born December 17, 1919, in Bartow, Fla., a son of the late Alexander and Della Walker Eich. Also preceded him in death are asister and a half-brother. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII, a radio repair technician and formerly an owner/operator of a business. He was a member of Redeemer Episcopal Church in Avon Park, Fla., and attended St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Barboursville. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Marie Gifford Eich; a daughter and son-in-law, Diann and Rick Sweet of Houston, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Gareth and Deborah Eich of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren, Aubrey and Clay Eich and Wess, Jeff and Stephanie Sweet. He was born June 10, 1920, in Huntington, a son of the late Lee and N. Josephine Kingery Grant. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean Gue Grant; two sisters, Mary Eloise Akers and Elizabeth Pauline Wells; two brothers, Harry Lee and Carlton Eugene Grant; and one grandson, Donnie Congia. He is surivived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Nellie of Murphy, N.C., and Ronald and Millie of Kalamanth Falls, Ore; one daughter, Nancy of Big Bear, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Childers of Salt Rock, Norma Smith and her husband, Bob, of Waverly and Irene Barnett of Columbus, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Geneva Jarvis. He was a 32 degree Mason, a member of the Western Star Lodge #11, A.F. and A.M. Huntington, a U.S. Army veteran and a former Lieutenant of the Huntington Fire Department, resigning when he moved to California where he was a machinist for Moore Business. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. There was no visitation.
Ruthie May Kendrick
Ruthie May Kendrick, 75, of Huntington died Thursday, August 8, 2002 at her residence. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 11, 2002, at Henson Mortuary, by the Rev. Brady K. Lipscomb. Burial in Bowen Cemetery. She was born August 4, 1927 in Huntington, daughter of the late Robert and Rosie Boncutter Kendrick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille France and Louvella Clett. She retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Co. Surviving are three sons, Kenneth Kendrick and his wife Linda, Darrell C. Kendrick and Rickey Allen Kendrick, all of Huntington; two brothers and spouses, Robert and Madeline Kendrick and Richard and Carol Kendrick all of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, Michael and Amber Kendrick of Huntington, Rebecca Schell of York, S.C., and Angela Kendrick of Columbus, Ohio; one great-grandchild, Marissa Schell of York, S.C.; and special friends Sandi Beach and Mary Roberts. Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.
Patricia “Patty” Jean Lusher
Our loving wife and mother, Patricia “Patty” Jean Lusher, 56, of Barboursville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 8, 2002, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 11, 2002, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by Pastors Carl Merritt, Bill Cassady and James Jobe. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born December 26, 1945, in Cabell County, a daughter of Mary M. Midkiff of Branchland, and the late Willie Midkiff. She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law, Wetzel Lusher. She was a graduate of Guyan Valley High School and the Huntington Junior College of Business. She was employed by ACF Industries for eighteen years and was a former manager with JCPenney, where she touched many hearts and lives. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-five years, George E. Lusher; one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and David Kinner of Barboursville; two precious grandchildren, Emily Brooke and Grayson Evans Kinner; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Arthur Porter of Barboursville, Joy and Keith Adkins of Salt Rock; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Beth Midkiff of Martinsburg; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Tom Miller of Newark, Ohio; one special brother-in-law, John Lusher of Barboursville; a wonderful mother-in- law, Mildred V. Lusher; many loving nieces, nephews and special friends. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Moses, Dr. Kimmey, Dr. Daniels and all of the wonderful nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital. Rev. Herman L. Ross
Rev. Herman L. Ross, 84, of Parkersburg, died June 17, 2002 at Heartland of Marietta, Ohio. He was born Oct. 10, 1917 in West Union, WV. He was a graduate of Doddridge & Westminster Seminary. He was an elder and full member in West Virginia and New York Conferences of the United Methodist Churches where he pastored until his retirement in 1980. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class at Stout Memorial U.M. Church, Parkersburg. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Mary Marie Wilson Ross; son Timothy L. Ross and his wife Mary Ellen, granddaughter Autumn and Maria Ross of Charleston, WV; son Richard Rouse and his wife Alice and granddaughter Amy Dawn Rouse of Charlotte, NC, son Robert Rouse. Grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy and James Rouse and Great-granddaughter Maria Rouse all of Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers. Services were held June 20th at Stout Memorial U.M. Church. Burial was at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, with graveside rites by the American Legion Post 15.
Penny Kricia Adkins Preston
My Loving Mother, Penny Kricia Adkins Preston, 37, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2002, after a short illness. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 10, 2002, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Lester. Burial in the Mays Cemetery. She was born September 15, 1964, in Cabell County, a daughter of Nola Gue Adkins of Huntington and the late Doliver “Dob” Adkins. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Denice Adkins Ramey. She was a graduate of Buffalo High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard in Gulfport, Mississippi and the West Virginia Air National Guard. Survivors include me, Kricia Denice Preston of Huntington; one sister, Rhonda Johnson of Massachusetts; one brother, Deliver Ray Adkins of Huntington and several nieces and nephews. Love, Kricia.
Codi R. “Brownie” Carter
Mr. Codi R. “Brownie” Carter, 79 of Lesage, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 7, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Saturday August 10, 2002, at First Church Of The Nazarene, of which he was a member, by the Rev. Robert A. Weaver. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born August 20, 1922 in Lesage, W.Va., a son of the late Albert and Lena Burcham Carter. He was retired from Owens-Illinois and was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He received a Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Carter and one sister Genevieve Perry. Survivors include his loving wife Betty Carter; two daughters, Teresa Boyes and husband Steve of Milton, WV, and Beverley O’Boyle Fultz and husband Jim of Cross Lanes, W.Va., one son Fred O’Boyle and wife Kathy of Metairie, La.; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Sarah Ann Boyes; and one brother, Ernest J. Carter of Lesage. American Legion Post 93 of Kenova conducted military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Hospice of Huntington. Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, was in charge of arrangements.

Stacy Lee Lyman Kent, 35, a 10-year-resident of Milton, W.Va, formerly of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa., died August 7, 2002, at Putnam General Hospital after a long illness. Stacy received her Master’s Degree in Business from Carnegie Melon University, Pittsburgh, Pa., and was a self-employed insurance consultant. She was preceded in death by one brother, Todd W. Lyman. Surviving are her father and mother, Donald A. Lyman of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa., and Kay C. Lyman of Mansfield, Pa.; two daughters, Kathleen Lauren Kent and Amber Kristine Kent, both of Glenwood, W.Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeffery L. and Patty Lyman of Columbia, Md. A memorial service were be held at Mainesburg United Methodist Church, Mainesburg, Pa. Chapman Funeral Home, Inc., Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.
Carolyn Hensley
Carolyn Hensley, 61, of Barboursville, died Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 9, 2002, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by Pastor Rick Glass and Pastor Jeff Sizemore. Burial in Forest Memorial Park. She was born July 25, 1941, in Cabell County, a daughter of Naomi LeGrand Hensley of Huntington and the late Norman Murrell Hensley. She was a member of Elmwood Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Charles “Bud” Hensley; one daughter, Kim Tickett of Barboursville; one son, Alan Saunders of Barboursville; one sister, Nancy Spurlock of Huntington; one granddaughter, Becca Tickett; a special aunt Venus May of Huntington and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Charles Robert Woods Jr.
Charles Robert Woods, Jr., 51, of Barboursville, died Monday, August 5, 2002. Memorial services were conducted Saturday, August 10, 2002, at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Fred Anderson. He was born March 5, 1951, in Cabell County, a son of Barbara Maynard Woods of Barboursville and the late Charles Robert Woods Sr. He is survived by two sons, Charles R. Woods III and Joseph Allen Woods, both of Huntington; two sisters, Darlene Woods of Hurricane and Debbie Frazier of Culloden; one brother, Mark Woods of Barboursville; and four grandchildren.
Joseph Michael Withrow
Joseph Michael Withrow, 76, of Barboursville, passed away Monday, August 5, 2002, at Mariner Health Care. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 8, 2002, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Monty Brown. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born January 27, 1926, in Logan County, a son of the late Benjamin Taylor and Nellie Edith Gearhart Withrow. He was a retired Cabell County dispatcher after eighteen years of service, and was a member of the Cabell-Wayne Association of the Blind. He is survived by his wife, Alma Mae Starcher Withrow; one daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Robby Baker of Plantation, Florida; two brothers, Earl E. Withrow of Point Pleasant, W.Va., and John William Withrow of Los Angeles, California; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
