Beatrice Cecile Bannerman
Beatrice Cecile Bannerman, 86, of Culloden passed away Monday, July 29, 2002, in Putnam General Hospital . Funeral liturgy was conducted Friday, August 2, 2002, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Ona, with Father Bert Valdes officiating. Entombment in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. She was born February 19, 1916, in Rapid City, South Dakota, a daughter of the late Romaine C. and Marguerite V. Price. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ranald Bannerman. She worked at Bowman Field in Louisville, Ky, during World War II.. She had a private pilot’s license and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Louisville, Ky., and New York City. She attended Marshall College in Huntington, W.Va. Mrs. Bannerman was a noted handweaver, spinner and vegetable dyer, studied and taught in the U.S., New Zealand, Iceland and Europe, and placed exhibits at the Mountain State Arts and Crafts Fair from 1963 until 1999. She was a founding member of the West Virginia Artists and Craftsman Guild; life member of the Southern and Craft Guild; and member of Kanawha Valley Weavers and Spinner Guild. She attended St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Ona W.Va. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Jacqueline Bannerman of Culloden, W.Va. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Stephens Catholic Church or the National Speleological Society. Heck Funeral Home Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Walter H. Hysell Jr.
Walter H. Hysell, Jr., 42, of Route 1, Milton, W.Va., passed away Monday, July 29, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 1, 2002, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Burial in Milton Cemetery. He was born May 4, 1960, in Milton, W.Va., a son of Walter “Okey” Hysell of Milton and the late Pansy Chapman Hysell. He is also survived by one daughter, Constance Hysell and one son, Kreggory Hysell both of Spotsylvania, Va. Pallbearers were Dan Pinterich, Gabe Rousch, Carl Hysell Jr., Delbert Collins, Hank Morrison and Roger Smith.

Nearah Sharp
Nearah Sharp, 95, formerly of Barboursville, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 in St. George, Utah. Graveside services were conducted Thursday, August 1, 2002, in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Arrangements by Henson Mortuary, Barboursville.

Betty Mae Minor
Mrs. Betty Mae Minor, 65, of Ona, wife of Vernon Minor, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002. Survivors include: two sons, Steve Minor of Ona and Michael Minor of Getaway, Ohio; three sisters, Martha Elkins and Sandee Hinds, both of Titusville, Fla. and Kris Hecht of Johnson City, Tenn.; and three brothers, James Robert Hinds Sr. and Benjamin E. Hinds, both of Titusville, and Michael Hinds of Adamsville, Ala. Funeral services were held Friday, August 2, 2002 at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington; burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.

Edna Keefer
Edna Keefer, 90, of Milton, W.Va., widow of Alva Keefer, died Monday, July 29, 2002, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Huntington. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 1, 2002, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Vernon Wallace officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park Milton. One of nine children, she was born June 29, 1912, in Logan County, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Bradford and Minerva Bryant Hensley, and a wonderful stepmother, Emer Adkins Hensley. She was a homemaker. She took great pleasure in helping others, she especially enjoyed baking for both the fire department and police department in Milton. She was a member of the Washington Avenue Church of God Holiness and was a Sunday school teacher for several years. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Velois “Whit” and Virginia of Huntington and Ronald Gene, also of Huntington; two granddaughters, Cindie Keefer of Huntington and Jamie Sue and her husband Neil Greenfield of Maineville, Ohio; one grandson, Matt Keefer and his wife Linda of Barboursville; one very special great-grandson Michael; and many loving nephews and nieces.

Gladys Simonton Roberts
Gladys Simonton Roberts, 88, of Scottsdale, Arizona, died July 21, 2002 at Scottsdale Heritage Court. She is the widow of Ford F. Roberts. She is survived by two sons, James F. and Jerry S. Roberts; one brother, Paul C. Simonton; 5 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Forest Memorial Park, Milton. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of local arrangements.

Sandy Chapman Lehoe
Sandy Chapman Lehoe, 57, of Ashton died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at her residence, after a short illness with cancer. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. Caudle Adkins officiating. Burial in Beale Chapel Cemetery, Ashton. She was born September 30, 1944, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of Eloise Collins. She was an employee of Green Acres. She was a member of Milton Chapter 149, Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Fortner of Ashton; two sons, Kimper Chapman and John Boy Chapman, both of Ashton; twin sister, Sally Carson of Clendenin, sister Patricia Crager; three brothers, David Raynor, Danny Collins and Joe Collins, all of Ohio; loving friend of six years, Kent Henry of Union Ridge; three grandchildren, Megan Watterson, Taryn Chapman and Joshua McCoy.

Elihue Ratliff
Elihue Ratliff, 74, of Ona, W.Va., passed away Sunday, July 24, 2002, at his home. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by Pastor Bob Ray. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born May 12, 1928, in Cabell County, a son of the late Joe and Ethel Dunfee Ratliff. He was also preceded in death by a son, Sandy Ratliff two sisters, Garnet Adkins and Thelma Gregg; and four brothers, Delbert, Dan, Joe and Ernest Ratliff. He was a retired employee of ACF, a veteran of the Korean War who served in the U.S. Army, and a member of Cyrus Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Carol J. Cyrus Ratliff; two daughters, Teresa of California and Anita Panell of Houston, Texas; two sons, Ronnie Ray Ratliff and his wife Karen of Milton and Vincent Alien Panell and his wife Trish of Houston Texas; and grandchildren, Cassie and Christopher Ratliff, Vince and Patrick Panell, Misty, Christy and Charlie Joe. The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for their loving care and support VFW Post 9738 conducted military graveside rites.

Donald Gene Wetherholt
Donald Gene Wetherholt, 64, of Huntington went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 27, 2002, at his residence. Funeral service were conducted Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church, Huntington, with Rev. David Lemming and Rev. Brian Wray officiating. Entombment in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Donald was born June 28, 1938, in Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late Charles A. and Gladys Irene Gothard Wetherholt. He was also preceded in his death by his brother, Terry Ray Wetherholt. He was an active member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. He was a retired steel worker for INCO and a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Farley Wetherholt; one son and special daughter-in-law, Bruce and Cristi Fogus Wetherholt of Barboursville; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles J. and Wanita Wetherholt of Barboursville; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis Irene and Charles Fitzwater of Pickaway, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Charlie Anderson, Kenneth Honaker, Glen Boyd, Jerry Weatherholt, Rick Weatherholt and Eddie Dillon.

Ardath Price
Ardath Price, 98, of Ona, W.Va., passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Camden Clark Hospital, Parkersburg, W.Va. Memorial services were conducted Sunday, July 28, 2002, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Brent Gibson. Burial in Blue Sulphur Cemetery. She was born October 2, 1903, in Gilbert, W.Va, a daughter of the late Harvey G. and Brooke Browning Ferrell. She was the oldest member of Mud River Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Price Sr.; two sons, James F. Price and Shelton Price Jr.; one grandson Marvin Price; and one great-grandson Chad Allen Price. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifton G. “Kip” and Joyce Price of Ravenswood, and H. Kenton and Virginia Price of Ona; four grandchildren, Kenny Price of Parkersburg, James Price of Sumpter, S.C., Clifton “Kip”’ Price Jr. of Washington, W.Va., and Gregory K. Price of Ravenswood; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one special nephew, Ron Ferrell of Ona. Memorial contributions may be made to Mud River Baptist Church.

Colleen A. Pinson
Colleen A. Pinson, 41, of Barboursville, has passed from this life and gone on to become one of Heaven’s angels on Friday, July 26, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Gethsemane United Baptist Church by Pastor Sherwood Thompson and the Rev. Zachary Bills. Burial in Eplin Family Cemetery, East Lynn W.Va. She was born December 5, 1960, in Huntington, a daughter of Harold “Buddy” Merritt and the late Eathel Eplin Merritt. She was a member of Gethsemane United Baptist Church, where she was very active with the youth group and was an avid supporter of the church camp at Salt Rock. She is survived by her husband, Truman L. Pinson Jr.; one son David Kent at home; her father and mother, Harold “Buddy” and Delores Jean Merritt of Barboursville; of two sisters, Judy Foster and her husband Bob of Huntington and Tina Lyons of Salt Rock; five brothers, Timmy Berry and his wife Theresa of Richmond, Virginia, Charles Ray Berry and his wife Debbie of Salt Rock, Brian Merritt and his wife Delisa of Salt Rock, Greg Merritt and his wife Michelle of Durham North Carolina, and Dean Berry and his wife Susan of Richmond, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Angie and Josh Foster, Ashley and Timmy Berry, Rachel Berry, Byron, Nathan and Shelena Merritt, Candias Berry, Stephen and Diana Merritt; and great-nieces and nephews, Haylie, Trey, Morgan and Alexis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Group of Gethsemane United Baptist Church. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Daniels and his chemo staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Dr. Tammy Bannister, Colleen’s longtime friend Beverly Davis of Lavalette, and all the caregivers.

Charles White Danford
Charles White Danford, 85, of Barboursville, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in Morris Memorial Nursing Home, Milton. Graveside services were conducted Saturday, July 27, 2002, in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Barboursville. He was born March 10, 1917, in Huntington, W.Va, a son of the late Charles William and Mary White Danford. He was also preceded in his death by five sisters and one brother. Mr. Danford was a retired operator with Union Carbide; a retired inspector for the state of West Virginia and a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife, Garnet Morrison Danford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles W. and Katherine Danford of Hurricane, and John E. and Connie Danford of Milton; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack L. and Sue Danford of Farmerville, La.; four grandchildren, Greg, John, Brianne and Charles; and one great grandchild, Devin. Evelyn Louise Moses
Evelyn Louise Moses, 85, of Barboursville, formerly of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Wallace Home and Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Bill Davis and Minister Pete Davidson. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born December 10, 1916, in Russell Ky, a daughter of the late Arch Floyd and Ada Mae Esque Dailey. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church Ona, W.Va. She was a homemaker, accomplished seamstress and stitcher. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Connelly and Madeline Patterson, both of Huntington. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Cline Moses and two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Dan Lykins of Cincinnati Ohio, and Peggy and Bob Browning, of Barboursville, with whom she made her home; five grandchildren, David and Joe Browning of Barboursville, Kristy Wright of Berryville, Va., Christopher Hankins of Dearborn, Mich., and Amy Johnson of Howell, Mich.; one sister, Phyllis Montgomery of Virginia and 10 great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington.

Lucian Eugene Jarvis
Lucian Eugene Jarvis, 63, of Hurricane, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in Putnam General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 26, 2002 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Paul Meadows and the Rev. James Dailey officiating. Burial followed in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born February 6, 1939, in Milton, WV, a son of the late Melville Eugene and Edna Alice Dailey Jarvis. He worked construction for T.A. Chapman Inc. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany from 1963-65. He is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Eugene Scarberry of Huntington, Ramona and Ralph Kelley of Plymouth, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law, James E. and Shirley Jarvis of Ona; three nieces, Angela Singer of Newton, N.J., Marilee Norman of Saipan, MP, and Shari Sanders of Hope, Ind.; four nephews, Chris Jarvis of Ona, Corey Jarvis of Barboursville, Dwight Kelley of Seneca, SC, and Randall Scarberry of Boston, Mass. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge arrangements.

Rosemary Litchfield
Loving wife, mother, grandmother Rosemary Litchfield, age 55, of Barboursville, WV, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at her residence. Mrs. Litchfield was a barber by profession. She was born in Cabell County on February 18, 1947, the daughter of the late Hurley and Iona Petrie Osborne. She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Litchfield; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kim Litchfield of Barboursville, Mary and Troy Ballangee of Barboursville and Amy and Dean Rayburn of Barboursville; and grandchildren Megan, Kristina, Joey and Emily Ballangee and Breanna, Bethany and Chelsea Rayburn. Henson Mortuary, East Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services were held Friday, July 26, 2002 at Henson Mortuary with the Rev. Barry Smith officiating. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville, WV.

Marcella “Sally” Hager
Marcella “Sally” Hager, 83, of Ona, WV, died July 22, 2002, at home after a short illness. She was born December 22, 1918, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Harry and Georgia Hinchman Hatfield. She was a homemaker and a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, H. Leon Hager; two sons and daughter-in-law, Harry and Linda Hager of Barboursville, W.Va., and Henry and Iris Hager of Hamlin, W.Va.; grandson, Hank Hager of Charleston, W.Va, and sister, Dixie Mullins of Madison W.Va. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV with Jerry Rose officiating. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Barboursville.

Craig E. Taylor
Craig E. Taylor, 39, of True, formerly of Scott Depot, died July 20, 2002.
Craig was a 1981 graduate of Winfield High School and a 20-year employee of Appalachian Tire Products, where he was a service manager. He attended Sunrise Chapel, Athens.
Surviving: wife, Rashell Chambers Taylor; stepdaughter, Brittnay White of True; parents, John and Joretta Taylor of Scott Depot; brothers and a sister-in-law, John Richard and Kim Taylor of Scott Depot and Scott Taylor of Scott Depot; mother- and father-in-law, Glenn and Sarah Chambers of Cabin Creek; sister-in-law, Glenda Nelson and her husband, Don, of Marmet; brother-in-law, John Chambers and his wife, Yulonda, of Cabin Creek; nieces and nephews, Sara, Olivia, Amanda, Brent, Derek, and Asa; great-niece, Kayleigh.
Service was held Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Dry Branch Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Holstein, the Rev. Delmar Stillwell Jr. and the Rev. Ronnie Tucker officiating. Burial was on Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Pryor Funeral Home, East Bank, was in charge of arrangements

Phillip W. Roush
Phillip Warren “Sonny” Roush, 66, of Red House died July 22, 2002, in CAMC Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
He was employed as a manager of Western Auto, Huntington, and as a divisional territory service Manager with West Auto for 32 years. The commonwealth of Kentucky named him a Kentucky Colonel.
He was the son of the late Phillip H. and Helen M. Rairden Roush and the brother of the late Mrs. Marion Kirk and Mrs. Martha Ann Rhodes.
Surviving: his loving wife of 36 years, Faye Atkinson Rough; daughters and sons-n-law, Dianna LaVone and Robert J. Benefiel Jr. of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina, and Brandi Lynn and Raine O. Beller of Red House; sons, Phillip Eugene Roush of Seattle, Washington and William Douglas Roush of Red House; proud PaPa to Sierra Lynn “Pooh” Beller of Red House and Phillip Perry Roush of San Jose, California; numerous friends and relatives.
Service was held Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with the Rev. Eugene Garlow officiating. Burial was in Shiloah Cemetery, Red House. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shiloah Cemetery Fund, c/o Manford Mallett, 89 Dunlap Ridge, Buffalo WV 25033.

Drew F. McGlamary
Drew Franklin McGlamary, 19, of Scott Depot died July 20, 2002.
He was born March 25, 1963 in Roanoke, Virginia. He attended Fiincastle Elementary and Botetourt Intermediate schools. He loved sports and played football and baseball in Botetourt County Recreation leagues. After bring involved with the sport, he earned his Junior Black Belt in Kempo-Karate of Botetourt County.
With his family, he moved to Scott Depot in 1997 and graduated from Winfield High School with honors. He was awarded a presidential scholarship and attended Marshall University his freshman year. He had recently been accepted and had transferred to Radford University in Radford, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Malcolm George MacAulay.
Surviving: parents, Marilyn MacAulay McGlamary and Larry Franklin McGlamary; sisters, Kari Marie McGlamary and Jaime Corinne McGlamary; paternal grandparents, George Earl and Louise E. McGlamary; maternal grandmother, Marion Johnson MacAulay; aunts and uncles, JoAnn McGlamary Hicks, Jeffrey MacAulay, Thomas MacAulay, Brian MacAulay, Jacqueline Mantz and Gerald MacAulay; cousins, Shane and Karen Mantz, Lauren, Emily and Ryan MacAulay, and Brice Arrienne and Kara MacAulay.
A memorial service and celebration of his life was held Friday, July 26, 2002 at his former home in Scott Depot. Contributions in his memory may be made to Southern Poverty Law Center, PO Box 548, Montgomery AL 35101-0548, an agency that promotes tolerance, monitors hate and seeks justice.

Nadine M. White
Nadine M. White, 78, of Hurricane died July 27, 2002, in Putnam General Hospital after a long illness.
Surviving: daughter, Judy Whitt of Huntington; son, John S. White of Hurricane; sister, Joyce Ramey of Worthington, Kentucky; brothers, William Carroll Adkins of Hurricane and Charles Dwayne Adkins of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Service was held Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, with the Rev. Bob Morris officiating. Burial was in Mount Olive Cemtery, Hurricane.
