Ruth M. Rader
Ruth M. Rader, 83, of Pliny died January 2, 2003 at Putnam General Hospital after a short illness.
She was born March 21, 1919 in Richwood. After her marriage to Charles E. Rader, they resided in Charleston until 1975 when they moved to Pliny. She was a charter member of the Winfield Community Church, and a former member of Mount Union United Methodist Church, Pliny.
Following the death of her husband in 1997, she resided with her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Vicky Rader, and grandchildren, Elijah and Jessica Rader, in Pliny.
Also surviving: daughters, Sonjia Schowen of Strausburg, Virginia and Janet Hill of South Charleston; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and host of many friends.
A Christian Committal Burial worship service was held Saturday, January 4, 2003, at Mount Union United Methodist Church with Pastor Bobby Woods and Brothers-in-Christ, Perry Brown, Randy Camden and Ronnie Tucker, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Chapman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Winfield Community Church, PO Box 185, Winfield WV 25213.

George F. Johnson
George F. Johnson, 86, of Scott Depot, formerly of Charleston, died January 1, 2003 at his home following a long illness.
He was a retired research chemist for Union Carbide and worked at the Tech Center in South Charleston. He graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor of science degree and earned his Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
Surviving: sister-in-law, Nadine B. Mellem of Lexington, Kentucky; nephew, Thomas O. Mellem of Littleton, Colorado; nieces, Lynn M. Boyer of Boulder, Colorado and Ann M. Buckeck of Lake Elmo, Minnesota; brothers, Paul Richard “Dick” of Lincoln, Nebraska and William A. “Bill” of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Marjorie A. of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
There was no service. Keller Funeral Funeral Home, Dunbar, was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Jane Mace
Betty Jane Medley Mace, 70, of Poca, formerly of Elkview, died January 3, 2003 after a short illness.
She was retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education with 32 years of service, and continued to serve as a substiute.
She was a member of the Capitol City Church of Christ and the Garrison Avenue Runion Group.
Surviving: family, Barbara and Robert McClanahan of Poca, Rita and Richard Guthrie of Cross Lanes, Susan Rock of Columbus, Ohio, Kimberly Moore of Poca, Sam and Natalie Myers of Charleston; grandchildren, Debbie, Melissa, Michael, Amanda, Matthew, and Samuel.
Service was held Sunday, January 5, 2003, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, Cross Lanes, with Minister Vic Clevenger officiating. Burial was in Surface Cemetery, Charleston.

Robert L. Clark
Robert L. “Howdy” Clark, 59, of Hurricane died Friday, January 3, 2003, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Huntington, after a sudden illness.
He was a charter member of Rolling Thunger Chapter I West Virginia.
Surviving: daughter, Rene Clark Brother of Gadsden, Alabama; sisters, Mary Clark of Culloden and Irene McCallister of Poca; one granddaughter.
Service was held Monday, January 6, 2003, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane. Burial was in Culloden Cemetery.

Nannie Ethel Colwell
Nannie Ethel Colwell, 92, of Hurricane died January 3, 2002, in Wilson’s Care Home, Hurricane, after a long illness.
She was a longtime member of Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, Hurricane, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. She was a former member of the United Methodist Women and Hurricane Senior Citizens. She was a lifelong resident of Putnam County and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Cordelia Arbaugh Johnson; husband, Leo C. Colwell; sisters, Verba Eblen and Zula Searls; brothers, Willard, Wyatt, Kenneth and Williams Johnson; and son-in-law, Joe Kessler.
Surviving: daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine Kessler of Hurricane, Carolyn and Russell Watson of Winfield, Lois and Dick Brewer of Scott Depot; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Sally Colwell of Deer Creek, Illinois; brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Lillian Johnson of Scott depot; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; caregivers, Georgia, Sandy, Dee, Judy, Gloria, and Mary.
Service was held Tuesday, Janaury 7, 2003, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with Dr. Dan Hogan and James McGehee officiating. Burial was in White Chapmel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.

Wade Terrance “Terry” Frazier
Wade Terrance ‘Terry” Frazier, 44, of Huntington died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Tim Halloran. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born Feb. 11, 1958, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of Ted Frazier of Ashland and the late Bonnie Sheppard Frazier. As a youngster, Terry was active in youth baseball and later became an avid bowler. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and was past president of the Beverly Hills Youth Football League. He is survived by his wife, Mary Nutter Frazier; one daughter, Lora Frazier of Huntington; one son, Tim Frazier of Huntington; one sister, Amy Ashworth of Barboursville; and two brothers, Andrew Frazier and Bruce Frazier, both of Riverside, Calif.

Golda Leigh Hammond Boggs
Mrs. Golda Leigh Hammond Boggs, 85, of Milton died Saturday evening January 4, 2003. She was born March 12, 1917. Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 7, in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. She was a longtime member of the Pleasant Valley Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Virgil David Boggs; children, Faye Childers of Milton, Dorothy Compton of Charleston, W.Va., Loretta Dewese of Beckley, W.Va., Hattie Mynes of Winfield, W.Va., David Boggs Jr. of Milton and Carolyn McGhee of Charleston, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Wilma Z. Fellure King
Mrs. Wilma Z. Fellure King, 85, of Salt Rock went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 4, 2003, in Lincoln Continuous Care Center, Hamlin, W.Va. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel Barboursville, W.Va., with the Rev. Harry Moore and the Rev. Jack Fellure officiating. Burial in Enon Cemetery. She was born March 19, 1917, in Huntington, a daughter of the late James and Adeline Perry Fellure. She worked many years as a nurse aid. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church, Salt Rock. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Homer King, six sisters and three brothers. She is survived by four sons, Larry and his wife Donna of Fairmont W.Va., Lanny and his wife Connie and Gene and his wife Karan, all of Salt Rock, and John King of Delaware; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Aaron Winston Martin
Aaron Winston Martin, 74, of Culloden went to be with the Lord Jan. 4, 2003. He was the son of the late Lewis and Gladys Martin of Culloden. He was a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 317, Huntington. He was a member of the Putnam Lodge No. 139, Hurricane, W.Va. He was also preceded in death by his brother Leotise Martin of Culloden. Survivors include three brothers, Vaughn Martin of Hurricane, Warner Martin of Hurricane and Robert Martin of Culloden; three sons and daughters-in-law, Aaron and Sophia Martin of Lebanon Ind., David and Darlene Martin of Culloden and Doug and Tracy Martin of Culloden; two daughters Debbie and Jay Berry of Columbia, S.C., and Beckie Smith and Noah Frasure of Ashland; loving friend, Annie Ratclff and family of Culloden; 12 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were be Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim McGehee officiating. Burial in Martin Family Cemetery, Culloden.

Geraldine Ray Sizemore
Geraldine Ray Sizemore, 85, of Columbus, Ga. died in Columbus Hospice House Friday, January 3, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Wallace Home and Chapel, Barboursville, W.Va., by Pastor Jeff Sizemore. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Sizemore was born Dec. 12, 1917, in Central City, Ky., a daughter of the late Elbert C. and Cordie Mae Downey Ray Sr. She was retired from civil service at Fort Benning. Mrs. Sizemore also was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Sizemore. Survivors include her brothers, Elbert C. Ray Jr. of Columbus, Ga. and Richard Larry Ray of Central City, Ky.; four sons, Robert Lewis Sizemore of California, Norris Allen Sizemore of Kentucky, Stewart Sizemore of Wisconsin and Walter Sizemore of Ohio; one daughter, Natalie Johnson of Ohio; and nephews, Gene (Margie) Ray of Macon, Ga. and Donald (Nancy) Ray of Charlotte, N.C.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Walden Ryalls
Jacqueline “Jackie” Walden Ryalls, 74, of Milton, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Bill Davis officiating. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. She was born Aug. 21, 1928 in Cabell County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Thomas Freeman and Velva Nellie Chapman Walden. She was a retired secretary with the Cabell County Board of Education, Culloden Elementary and a former employee of Georgetown Galleries, Huntington. She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and the Milton Garden Club. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. “Jake” Ryalls; one son, Brad Ryalls of Cross Lanes; one daughter and son-in-law, Kyra and Mark Johnson of Milton; one sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Ronald Montcastle of Milton; three grandchildren Cassie Ryalls, Zachary Ryalls and Landon Johnson. Grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers.

Ronald Paul “Ronnie” Fabry
Ronald Paul “Ronnie Fabry, 58, of Culloden passed .away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, in Scott Depot. He is survived by his father, John Paul Fabry of Culloden and his sister, Elizabeth Fabry Collins of Carol Stream, Ill. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 5, 2003 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial in Forest Memorial Park Milton.

Andrea Francine Smith and Joseph Wayne Smith
Andrea Francine Smith and Joseph Wayne Smith, infants of Gary and Teresa Markin Smith of Nitro, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Dec. 31, 2002, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Graveside service was conducted Saturday, January 4, 2003, at Woodmere Memorial Park by Pastor Gene Brooks. Also surviving are paternal grandparents, Bobby and Betty Smith of Nitro; paternal great-grandfather, Clarence Porter of Huntington; maternal grandparents, Charles and Clara Markin Jr. of Salt Rock; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Pearl Nelson of Barboursville; maternal great-grandfather, Charles Markin Sr. of Salt Rock and several loving aunts, uncles and cousins. A moment can be an eternity. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Arbutus Glover Wooten
Arbutus Glover Wooten, 80, formerly of Milton. died Friday, December 27, 2002 at Miami Heart Institute and Medical Center, Fla. Services were held 1 pm Wednesday, January 1, 2003, by the Rev. Winford Curry at Klingel Carpenter Mortuary. Interment in Bias Chapel Cemetery. She was born March 22,1922 in Milton, a daughter of the late Emerson and Qunnie Edmonds Glover. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Romie Wooten; two daughters, Mollie and Ollie Wooten, and one grandson Joey Keith Shull. Mrs. Wooten was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 139. She is survived by a son, Steve Wooten of Milton, and one daughter, Rose Karen Jackson of Hollywood Fla.; three grandchildren, Steven Douglas Wooten and his wife Kelly of Milton, Jeremiah Wooten of Milton and Scotty Jackson of Hollywood, Fla., one great-grandchild, Autumn Marie Wooten; and one sister, Alfie Nelson of Huntington. Klingel Carpenter Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Arthur John Beaumont
Arthur John Beaumont, of Huntington passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 7, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church on Pea Ridge Road in Huntington. Bo, as he was known to his friends, was born in Morgantown and raised in Belington, W.Va., the son of the late Hazel Campbell Beaumont and Arthur Brittingham Beaumont. He is survived by Betty Beaumont, his wife of 57 years; a son Arthur John Beaumont Jr. from Morgantown, daughter-in-law Lee Ann Beaumont, two grandchildren Jennifer Leigh Beaumont and William Scott Beaumont; a cousin Laura Diskin from Pittsburgh, and her two sons, Beau Diskin and Myles Diskin. Bo was a veteran of World War II, serving as a medical technologist in Great Britain, France and the United States from 1944 to 1946. He graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, and worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Huntington as a medical technologist until his retirement in 1978. He was a charter member of Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church, an avid contract bridge player, and follower of Marshall University sports. Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, is handling arrangements.

Donald Lee Mullins
Donald Lee Mullins, 61, of Milton, W.Va, went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 30, 2002, at St. Marys Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2003, at Olive Baptist Church, 6286 Little Seven Mile Road, Huntington, with Pastor Gordon Rutherford and Bill Lusher officiating. Burial in Templeton Cemetery, Milton. He was born December 7,1941, in Milton, a son of the late Luther and Nola Bentley Mullins. He was a graduate of Barboursville High School in 1960, and a retired health service worker from the State Rehabilitation Center in Institute, W Va. Donald was also the founder and lead singer of the Country Good Times Band, which performed for a span of more than 30 years. He was a devoted and dedicated Christian, and member of Olive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one brother, Everett Edward; and two sisters, Catherine Hunt and Gaynelle Piatt. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Mullins; one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Bill Lusher of Barboursville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry and Chris Mullins of Milton and Scott Sommers of Washington: two sisters, Lillinn Courts of Michigan and Donna Shull of Culloden; two brothers, Norman Mullins of Hurricane and Lewis “Buddy” Mills of Huntington; grandchildren Bree’. Brennan, Bryce, Jim Ed, Angel and Dakota; and many special nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He will be greatly missed, but we know he is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior. Pallbearers were Larry Ball, David Black, Mark Burns, Jack Cremeans, Ronnie King and Jim Templeton. Wallace Home and Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Georgetta S. Shirkey Peters
Georgetta S. Shirkey Peters, 34, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 in St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2003, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Rev. Luther Morgan and Rev. Jerry Castill officiating. Burial followed in Culloden Cemetery. She was born August 13, 1968, in Huntington, WV, a daughter of George and Virginia Shirkey of Culloden. She was a full-time student at Huntington Junior College of Business. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Jonathan Peters; two sisters, Georgeanna Shirkey of Hurricane and Willa Jean Porter Richeson both of Milton; a host of family and friends. Pallbearers were Georgeanna Shirkey, Willie Porter, Andrew Porter, Joseph Porter, Chris Chapman, and Gerald Clark; honorary pallbearer, Aaron Porter. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert L. Schoolcraft
Robert Lee Schoolcraft, 77, of Poca died Thursday, December 19, 2002, at home following a long illness.
He was a retired electronic technician for Electronic Specialty Co., Dunbar. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of the VFW, and a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rotchie Schoolcraft and Grace Henson Alekx, and brother, Larry Schoolcraft.
Surviving: wife, Audrey Barnette Schoolcraft; daughter, Diann Craig of Morristown, Tennessee; son, Curtis L. Schoolcraft of Poca; brother, Joseph Schoolcraft of Mississippi; sisters, Leona Lathy of Columbus, Ohio and Nellie Judy of Coopers Creek; sister-in-law, Mary Schoolcraft of Teays Valley; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Service was held Sunday, December 22, 2002, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with Dr. Boyd C. Purcell officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar WV 25164.
