Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Fred Anderson. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. She was born July 12, 1943, in Williamson, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charlie Sellards and Naomi Hamilton Sellards. She is survived by her husband, Larry Bates; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Rhonda Maynard of Forest Hills, Ky., Michael and Linda Maynard of Turkey Creek, Ky., and Jerry and Ann Maynard of Florida; five brothers, Gene Sellards and Richard Sellards, both of Arizona, Troy Sellards of Indianapolis, George Sellards of San Antonio and Freddie of Sellards of Illinois; five grandchildren. Jessica Maynard, Makatelyn Danielle Maynard, Alex Maynard, Jacob and Jarrod Maynard; a special niece and nephew, Shannon and Clayton Bates and their parents, Darrell and Betty Bates, of Barboursville; and a sister-in-law, Jenny Miller, and her daughters, Amanda, Megan and Misty, all of North Carolina. Pallbearers were Mike McCoy, Greg Hill, Roy Bills, Mark Woods, Larry Schultz and Anthony Ferguson.

Mary Bernadett Harbour
Mary Bernadett Harbour, 60, of Salt Rock W.Va., passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted October 12, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Manford Cass Hutchinson. Burial in Enon Cemetery. She was born October 5, l943 in Cherry, Ill., a daughter of the late John and Mary Leonard Donna. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Mahoney, and two brothers, Robert and John Donna. She is survived by her husband, Freddie Harbour; one daughter, Mary Therese Schmitt of Peru, Ill.; one sister, Kathryn Natta of Ottawa, Ill.; one brother, Donald Donna of Cherry, Ill.; two grandchildren, Samantha Jo Schmitt and Johnna Marie Schmitt.

Estel Hagley
Estel Hagley, of Ona, W.Va., passed away in St. Mary's Medical Center on Tuesday, October 7, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 11, 2003, at Beulah Ann Baptist Church on Howells Mill Road, by Pastor Paul Meadows. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Estel was born in Huntington on December 8, 1917, a son of the late Eustace and Icy Harriet Scarberry Hagley. He was the husband of Wilma Mount Hagley and the widower of Euna Waugh Hagley. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lee; four brothers, Shelby, Joe, Bill and Calvin. He was a retired employee of Houdaille Industries, a veteran of WWII and a member of Beulah Ann Baptist Church. Estel is survived by two sons, Larry and Gregory; three grandchildren, Jeremey, Sarah Beth and Sammie; two sisters, Melva Schutz and Naomi Henry; two brothers, Arnold and Eustace; several nieces and nephews. In addition to Estel's family, he is also survived by his extended family, Arbie, Terri, Drema, David, Jonathan and Sara. Pallbearers were nephews Darrell, Donald, Jay and John Hagley, Lonnie Napier and Doug Hayes. Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements. Military graveside services were conducted by VFW Post #1064, Huntington.

Estel Hagley
Estel Hagley, 85, of Ona, husband of Wilma Hagley, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Beulah Ann Baptist Church, Ona; burial in White Chapel Memorial Park, Barboursville. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Jack Neal “Hog Head” Hoffsted
Jack Neal “Hog Head” Hoffsted, 51, of Huntington went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 6, 2003, after a long battle with illness. Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 10, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, by Dr. Jerry Warren. Burial in Blue Sulphur Cemetery. He was born September 12, 1952, in Huntington, a son of Glenn and Doris Burgess of Huntington. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a member of Local #80, International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers. Also surviving are his wife, Deborah “Bunny” Young Hoffsted; one daughter, Jacqueline Athea of Richmond, Va.; one grandson Ethan; three brothers, Mark Burgess of Huntington, Gary Burgess of Barboursville and Wayne Burgess of California.

Joann Morrison
Mrs. Joann Morrison, 67, of Barboursville, W.Va., died Friday, October 3, 2003, at her residence. Graveside funeral services were conducted Friday, October 10, 2003, at Baylous Cemetery, Salt Rock by the Rev. David Cardwell. Joann was born December 21, 1935, in Detroit, Mich. Survivors include two sons, Bernard L. Morrison of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Randall C. Morrison of Huntington; one sister, Betty Campbell of Clarksburg, W.Va.; one grandson, Randall C. Morrison II of Huntington and special friends David and Dorothy Cardwell of Barboursville. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, was in charge or arrangements.

Billy James Adkins
Billy James Adkins, 45, of Barboursville died Saturday, October 4, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, October 9, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. David Cardwell. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born November 15, 1957, in Guyandotte, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his foster father, Asa Keesee. He is survived by his foster mother, Olga Keesee; two sisters, Connie and Kay Adkins; one brother; four foster aunts, Emogene Porter, Mary Harvey, Cremeans and Lavona Frye.

James Marshall “Jim” Henry
James Marshall “Jim” Henry, age 67, of Lesage W.Va., went home to see Jesus on Saturday, October 4, 2003, in Atlantic Beach, N.C. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at Greenbottom Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Spence officiating. Burial in Greenbottom Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #9738. Serving as pallbearers were Timothy Clagg, Lane Pinkerman, Alvie Pinkerman, Dave Mace, Freddie Scarberry and Timothy Runyon. Mr. Henry was born July 30, 1936, in Cabell County, West Virginia and was the son of the late Glen and Mary K. Farley Henry. He was an Army Paratrooper veteran, retired with 30 years of service from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, W.Va. and was a new member of the Greenbottom Missionary Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband for 45 years to his wife, Mary Ann Henry. Also surviving him are his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Timothy Runyon of Glenwood; grandson Timothy Clagg and his friend Tiffany Whitt; daughter Dalaina Clagg; sisters and their husbands, Joyce and Paul Bias of Huntington, Sharon and Cal Malcolm of Parkersburg, W.Va., Glenna and Rod Hatfield of Barboursville; brothers and their wives, Charles and Doralee Henry of Huntington, Larry and Kay Henry of Huntington; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Beard Mortuary, Huntington, was in charge of arrangements.

Pearl Huddleston
Pearl Huddleston, 91, of Barboursville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 5, 2003. She was born April 7, 1912, in Barboursville, a daughter of the late John B. Mays and Laura Rayburn Mays. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hamilton Huddleston; one brother, John B. Mays Jr.; and three sisters, Louise Kelly, Virginia Call and Irene Burks. She is survived by three sisters, Gladys Yeager, Joan Gross and Jean Mays. She was a member of Steele Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a loving and loyal sister and aunt and will be sadly missed. Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, October 8, 2003 with Dr. Ed Grant and the Rev. Ralph Sager officiating. Burial in Oaklawn Memorial Park. Nephews were pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Steele Memorial Building Fund.

Amelia Silvers
Amelia Silvers, 53, of Barboursville, wife of Terry Slivers, died Friday, October 3, 2003 at home. She formerly worked at Eye Care Inc. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.

Louvella O. McClanahan
Louvella O. Eads McClanahan, 85, of Poca died September 30, 2003, in Valley Health Village after a long illness.
Mrs. McClanahan was a member of Poca Baptist Church since 1939, charter member of the Poca homemakers, 59-year member of Forest Rose Rebekah Lodge No. 143, where she was past Noble Grand, and the Poca Senior Citizens. She was a volunteer at Thomas Hospital for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Attison McClanahan, her parents, William H. and Lou Ida Taylor Eads, great-granddaughter, Jessi Jo Vinson, brothers, Victor, Clayton, Carl, Russell, Henry, Martin and Earl Eads, and sister, Viola Eads Borden.
Surviving: daughters, Lucile Foster of Charleston and Edrie Lee Vinson of Denver, Colorado; brothers, Harvey Eads of Cross Lanes and Richard Eads of Lanham; sister, Iona Eads Koscelek of Milford, Connecticut; grandchildren, Thom Vinson and Leann Vinson Cardinell, both of Eastsound, Washington, and David Foster of Morton, Illinois; great-granddaughter, Terri Vinson.
The family expresses their gratitude to special caregiver and niece, Patricia Eads Walls.
Service was held Sunday, October 5, 2003, at Poca Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Butcher officiating. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Attison McClanahan Academic Scholarship Fund, PO Box 100, Poca WV 25159.

Lillian Sunderland Bush
Lillian Sunderland Bush, 68, of Milton, passed away Friday, October 3, 2003 at St Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2003, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by the Rev Chelcie Gibson. Burial in Culloden Cemetery. She was born December 5,1934 in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Edgar and Maymie Handley Sunderland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bush and six brothers, Dennis, Dana, Hubert, Dick, Junior and Jack Sunderland. She is survived by three daughters, Debby Crookshanks of Culloden, Patty Midkiff of Huntington, and DeAnn Hensley and her husband Sean of Huntington; four sisters and their spouses, Audra and Bill Harless of Hilliard, Ohio, Freda and Calvin Hatfield of Hurricane, Norma and Gene Newman of Milton and Wanda and Danny Dansro of Sun City, Ariz, a brother-in-law and his wife, Gary and Phyllis Bush of Hurricane; nine grandchildren, Todd Crookshanks and his wife Amy, Chad Crookshanks and his wife Calley, Chris Crookshanks and his fiance Mary Welch, Jeremy Crookshanks, Leah Quinn, Lydia Thompson and her husband, Nathan, Andrea Midkiff, Aaron Ball and Erica Ball; four great-grandchildren, Tanner Ball, Cymon Crookshanks, Cruz Crookshanks and Tyler Thompson. Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Charles H. Johnson
Charles H. Johnson, 78, of Milton went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 3, 2003 in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral service were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2003 at Milton Baptist Church with Dr. T.J. DuBose officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born June 4, 1925, in Huntington, WVa, a son of the late Frank E and Sybil White Johnson. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Johnson, Arvin Johnson and Clifford Johnson. He retired from the Chessie System. Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, American Legion Post 139 and the VFW Post 9796, Milton. He is survived by his wife, Lucile Ray Johnson; one daughter, Janet Lathey of Arlington, Mass.; two brothers, Robert T. Johnson of Hurricane and Gilmer Odell Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.; five sisters Naomi Burton of Lavalette, Arlena Hughes of West Hamlin, Bonnie Straight of Hurricane, Sue Bragg of Charleston and Linda Fields of Sissonville and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ross Johnson, 78, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2003 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial was conducted Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima by Father Joseph Peterson. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. She was born August 13, 1925 in Martha, W.Va, a daughter of the late Maurice Joseph and Stella Lee Jackson Riley. She was a member of our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, and a member of Alumni Association of St. Mary's School of Nursing. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Pat and Jim Riley and one sister, Stella Roush. She is survived by one daughter, Janet Smith of Elkins, W.Va.; four sons, Dr. David M. Ross, of Barboursville, Dr. Ronald N. Ross of Ashland, Ky, Timothy “Bird Dog” Ross of Barboursville, and Phillip “Shorty” Johnson, of Catlettsburg, Ky.; stepchildren, Sharon Johnson of Kenova, Patricia Duke of Florida and Ed Johnson of Texas; two sisters, Sue Brothers of Huntington and Catherine Costa of Charlotte, N.C.; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Amelia Diane Silvers, 53, of Barboursville, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at her residence. She was born Oct. 29,1949, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Earl Muth. She was a former employee of Eye Care Inc. She is survived by her husband, Terry, one daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Vince Lucas of Hamlin, W.Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Kelly Silvers of Proctorville, Ohio; one sister, Mary Ball of Texas; three brothers, Joe Muth of Ohio, Jeff Muth of Barboursville and Randy Muth of Florida; and two grandchildren, Tyler and Bailey Lucas. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville.

Margaret Helen Wright
Margaret Helen Wright, 88, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Heritage Center. Graveside services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2003 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Eugene Ramsey. She was born April 18, 1915 in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Elba and Floy Frizzel Adkins. She was retired from Nichols and Ronk. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Fredrick Wright and four brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Janice Schoenlein of Barboursville, and Alfreda Graham of South Point, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Deborah Wright of Knoxville, Tenn; three grandchildren, William “Bill” Schoenlein, Annetta Shellhause, and Joseph Schoenlein; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. There was no visitation. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Julian N. Foster, 75 of Huntington W.Va., passed away Saturday, September 27, 2003 in Orange Park, Fla. A lifelong railroad professional who in retirement pursued his passion for gardening and building, examples of which stand in Maryland, Ohio, West Virginia, Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He was born October 18, 1927 in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., a son of the late Everett and Katie Stella (Sawyers) Foster. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hilda (Bostic) Foster; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Judy Foster, their children, Angela Anderson and Joshua Foster; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Teresa Foster, and their children, Kristi McGauley and her husband Jamie, Kara Smith and her husband Joseph; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Donald Schofield; one brother, Forrest Foster; five sisters, Dorothy Wilson, Janice Asay, Maxine Carmoney, Betty Snellings and Ina Llewelyn. Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 3, 2003 at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Arnold Clary. Entombment in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.

William was born February 14, 1936, a son of the late George and Clara Manning Finley. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Finley and Delmar Finley. He was retired from Huntington Alloys. William is survived by his wife, Dottie Lucas Finley; two sons and daughter-in-law, David and Sheila Finley and Bruce Finley; one brother, Carl Finley; four sisters, Kathleen Sargent, Opal Kirtley, Violet Harshbarger and Marietta Grass; three grandchildren, Annie Marie Finley, Ashley Nichols Finley and Jeremy David Finley; two nephews, Tyler Dailey and Kris Chapman; two nieces, Krystal Dailey and Marsha Goodpaster.

Katherine A. Sizemore
Mrs. Katherine A. Sizemore, 78, of Huntington, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 from St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 3, 2003, at Henson Mortuary by the Rev. Dwight Barker. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Mrs. Sizemore was born September 4, 1925 in Huntington daughter of the late Charles Byrd and Mary Wyant Byrd. She was a graduate of Huntington East High School and a retired travel clerk at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Huntington. Mrs. Sizemore was a covenant partner of New Life Church in Huntington in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward O. Byrd and sisters Ruby Byrd, Lilly Perry, Christine Halstead and Bertha Zaken. She is survived by her husband, B.J. Sizemore; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald B. and Brenda Sizemore and George “Chuck” and Terri Sizemore, all of Huntington, and Lawrence E. and Lynda Sizemore of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandchildren Teresa and Joe Coogler, Johnna and Louie Gaunch, Ronald Sizemore II, Laura and Chad Young, Leslie and Christopher Stoop, Lawrence Sizemore II; stepgrandsons, Joshua and Michael Coogler; great-grandchildren, Garrett Gaunch, Hannah Gaunch, Rebecca Gaunch and Lawson Sizemore; and very special friend, Dot Brown.
