Katherine A. Sizemore
Mrs. Katherine A. Sizemore, 78, of Huntington, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 from St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 3, 2003, at Henson Mortuary by the Rev. Dwight Barker. Interment
at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Mrs. Sizemore was born September 4, 1925 in Huntington daughter of the late Charles Byrd and Mary Wyant Byrd. She was a graduate of Huntington East High School and a retired travel clerk at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Huntington. Mrs. Sizemore was a covenant partner of New Life Church in Huntington in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward O. Byrd and sisters Ruby Byrd, Lilly Perry, Christine Halstead and Bertha Zaken. She is survived by her husband, B.J. Sizemore; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald B. and Brenda Sizemore and George “Chuck” and Terri Sizemore, all of Huntington, and Lawrence E. and Lynda Sizemore of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandchildren Teresa and Joe Coogler, Johnna and Louie Gaunch, Ronald Sizemore II, Laura and Chad Young, Leslie and Christopher Stoop, Lawrence Sizemore II; stepgrandsons, Joshua and Michael Coogler; great-grandchildren, Garrett Gaunch, Hannah Gaunch, Rebecca Gaunch and Lawson Sizemore; and very special friend, Dot Brown.
James Robert Holley
James Robert “Jim” Holley, 67, of Eleanor passed away Sept. 29, 2003, at home following a short illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar “Jink” an Myrtle Holley; three brothers and four sisters.
He was a retired fork true operator from General Motor Corporation with 22 years of service and attended Buffalo Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include daughters, Loretta Holley of Grand Blanc, Mich., Kimberly Holley and Patricia Hyatt, both of East Point, Mich.; brother, Howard Holley of Buffalo; sisters, Patricia and Mary Buck, both of Buffalo; and grandchildren, Charles and Christy Francisco, Connie and Brianne Zimmerman, all of Grand Blanc, Estrellita Holley, Gregory Bond, Anthony Holley and Jesse Hyatt, all of East Point.
Services were held Thursday, Oct. 2, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with the Rev. Sidney Warner officiating. Burial in Buffalo Memorial Park.

Gerrell L. Deweese, 67, of Leon died September 28, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. Burial in Mount Zoin Cemetery, Leon.
Beulah F. Oldaker
Beulah F. “Bootie” Tucker Oldaker, 57, of Buffalo passed away peacefully Sept. 28, 2003, at home following a short illness.
She was a homemaker, attended Manila Chapel and was a lifelong resident of Putnam County.
Survivors include her husband, William Loris Oldaker; sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy P. Sr. and Melissa Oldaker and Benjamin B. Oldaker, all of Buffalo; daughter and son-in-law, Molly R. and David Sayre of Buffalo; brothers, Jim and Foster “Ed” Tucker, both of Grimms Landing, Bob and Otis Tucker, both of Robertsburg, Roger Tucker of Grimms Landing, Don and Ron Tucker, both of Marion, Ohio; sisters, Lola Doss of Shrewsbury, Nancy Jividen of Robertsburg, Shirel Knapp of Leon, Sandra Lowe of Buffalo, Vicki Mackling of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Bonnie Potter of Marion, Ohio, Paula Lumberson of Florida; and grandchildren, Timothy P. Jr., Cody A. and Tiffany Oldaker, Benjamin J., Sean W., Shane D. and Summer Lilly Rain Sayre.
Services were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with Pastor Mike Tucker officiating. Burial in the Oldaker Cemetery, Buffalo.
Mary Lou Kelley
Mary Lou Kelley, 73, of Huntington, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2003, in Sunbridge for Putnam. Memorial service will be conducted Sunday, October 12, 2003, at Faith United Methodist Church, Huntington, by the Rev. Tim Conrad. Interment
in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born March 23, 1930, in Pineville, W.Va., (Wyoming County), a daughter of the late Roy Kelley and Lucille Weaver Kelley Lyon. She was a registered nurse and pediatric practitioner. She attended St. Mary's School of Nursing and West Virginia University. She practiced at Miners Memorial Hospital in Beckley, John Marshall and Cabell Huntington Hospitals in Huntington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin Kelley and P.J. “Jack” Kelley. She is survived by three sisters, Sue Lilly of Milton, Nancy Vaugham of Beckley and Harriett Booth of St. Albans; and one brother, S.L. Kelley of Boise, Idaho. Clesby Mae Shull, 89, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 28, 2003, at her residence. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at Cooper Independent Church, Milton, with the Rev. Ted Nance officiating. Burial in Bicker Cemetery. She was born March 14, 1914, in Hamlin, W.Va., a daughter of the late James M. and Belva Estep Dotson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse R. Shull; three sons, James Shull, Hansford Shull and Raymond Shull; one daughter, Lola Mae Shull; two brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Shull was a member of Cooper Independent Church. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Shirley and John Garrett, Sharon and Bud Call, Barbara Collins and Vivian and Talmadge Johnson, all of Milton; six sons and nine daughters-in-law, Jennings and Elsie Shull, Wendell and Linda Shull, Darrell and Connie Shull, Lonnie and Brenda Shull, Donald and Virginia Shull, Earl and Lorine Shull, Jean Shull, Belva Shull and Janet Shull, all of Milton; 45 grandchildren; 67 great grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Glen Robertson
Glen “Buzzy” Robertson, 69, of Hurricane, formerly of Charleston, died September 21, 2003, at his residence.
He was born December 17, 1933 at Glen Rogers, a son of the late Claude and Elsie Gray Robertson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sidney Robertson, son, Greg, and daughter, Sara and Kara.
He was retired with 23 years of service with the West Virginia Department of Highways Project Control Division and was an Air Force veteran, serving in Korea.
Surviving: daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Claudia and Gene Duncan of Hurricane; sons and a daughter-in-law, Glen, Gray and Stephanie, Givan and Gavin Robertson, all of Charleston; granddaughter, Sidney Duncan of Hurricane; sister, Carolyn O'Kane of Greenville, South Carolina.
Service was held Thursday, September 25, 2003, at Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Tom Clark officiating. Burial was in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Allen Setliff
Allen Setliff, 91, of Turkey Creek, Hurricane died September 21, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Oma Johnson Setliff, son, Harold Allen Setliff, and daughter, Brenda Setliff Cox. He was the last of 14 children.
Surviving: daughters, Mary Frances Smith of Hurricane, Eunice Flinner of Tornado and Barbara Plumley of Hamlin; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Service was held Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, with the Rev. Mark Hesson officiating. Burial was in Alford Cemetery.
Robert Carson Hodges Sr.
Robert Carson Hodges Sr., 67, of Hurricane died September 22, 2003, at home following a long illness.
Carson was an automobile technician, employed by C&O Motors, St. Albans, for 33 years. He was a lifelong resident of Hurricane, a United States Marine Corps veteran and a member of the American Legion, Milton.
Surviving: his wife of 45 years, Jane Browning Hodges; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Carson “R.C.” Jr. and Angie Hodges of Barboursville, Bruce and Melissa Hodges of Hurricane; sister, Norma Gail Hendrick of Hurricane; grandchildren, Carmen Elise, Samantha Jo, Garrett Carson and Tara Beth Hodges.
Service was held Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with Pastor Craig Coster officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.
Harold L. Handley
Harold Lee “Hank” Handley, 82, of Hurricane died September 25, 2003, at home following a long illness.
He was retired from Union Carbide, a member of the Masons, a member of First Baptist Church, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving: daughters, June Lee Lowe of Atlanta, Georgia and Susan Ann Bennett of Hurricane; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Service was private. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.

Bernice F. Brown, 84, of Barboursville passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Julia Bolling. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born Jan. 29, 1919, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late George and Audrey Carroll Frame. She was a member of Olive Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James G. Brown Sr. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Don Owens of Barboursville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James G. and Ruth Brown of Wichita Falls, Texas, and George Brown of Dallas; one sister, Wanda O'Steen of Cheritan, Va.; four grandchildren, James Brown III, George Ray Brown, Sue Taff and Barbara Hamsher; and nine great-grandchildren. Dewey Tyree
Dewey Tyree, 90, of Culloden passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Heck Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Young officiating. Burial in Valley View Memorial Park Hurricane, W.Va. He was born Aug. 1, 1913, in Dawson W.Va., a son of the late Lewes C. Tyree and Nancy I. Hughart Tyree. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nellie G. Tyree. Mr. Tyree was the owner/operator of Chancey's Greenhouse as well as a member of Oddfellows, the National Campers and Hikers Association - Pitch and Pull Chapter, Good Sams - Mountaineer Sams Chapter and the Culloden Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by one daughter, Dorinda Mclntyre; one granddaughter, Regina McIntyre; one grandson, Dustin McIntyre; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard Vincent Sovine
Richard Vincent Sovine, 81, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 27, 2003 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Dr. T.J. DuBose officiating. Burial in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. Richard was born January 8, 1922, a son of the late John G. and Annalee McCallister Sovine. Graduating from West Virginia University in 1943, he served as president of his graduating class. After graduation, he joined the Army, serving for three years, where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. Becoming a Christian at the age of nine, he continued his journey as a member of the Milton Baptist Church, in which he was a trustee. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Eula Hall Sovine; one daughter and son-in-law, Joan G. and Michael O'Dell; one grandson, Bryan O'Dell; one great-grandson Alec; one brother and sister-in-law, Warner and Juanita Sovine and one nephew, James W. and Sally Sovine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington or to the Milton Baptist Church Building Fund.
Catherine Christine Mastrangelo
Mrs. Catherine “Granny” Christine Mastrangelo, 89, of Lesage, widow of Jimmy Mastrangelo, went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 21, 2003, at her residence. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, September 25, 2003, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, W.Va., with Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Catherine was born February 9, 1914, at Fleming, Ky., a daughter of the late Ralph and Marianna Mariotti. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ernesta Burgess. She is survived by her son, Pete Mastrangelo and his wife Connie of Lesage; her twin brother, John Burgess; godson Jim Perdue; nieces and nephews, Patricia Burgess-Duffy, Francis Tuggle, Jack and Betty Dempsey, Jim and Linda Burgess and Patricia Jenkins; five grandchildren, Eric, Jason, Natalie and Joshua Mastrangelo, and Robyn Helton, and four great-grandchildren, Shanin, Billy, J.C. and Blayne, and many more great-nieces and nephews. Granny was employed by Mine Ventilation Systems of Madison for 20 years. Granny was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She lived a sacrificial life, exhibiting the love of God to her family, friends and neighbors. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, September 25, 2003 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV. Burial in Boone Memorial Park Madison, W.Va. June A. Morrison, 86, of Salt Rock, WV, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away September 22, 2003, at his residence after a short illness. Graveside services were conducted September 25, 2003, at Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock by Rev. Winford Curry. He was born June 15, 1917, in Salt Rock a son of the late Eugene and Una Weatherholt Morrison. He was a retired employee of C&O Railroad, a member of the Susannah Baptist Church a member of the Minerva Lodge #13, AF&AM Barboursville. He was preceded in death by one brother, May Morrison. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Maxine Reynolds Morrison; one daughter Pamela Dorman and her husband, Charles, of Covington, Ga.; two sisters, Julie Clark, of Lesage, and Opal Cabell of Salt Rock; one brother, Don Morrison of Salt Rock; four grandchildren, Ronda Pararas and her husband, Bob, and their children, Kaitlin and Alec, of Richmond Va., Angie Lewis of Milton, Troy Lewis and his wife, Patsy, and their children, Miranda, Brandon, and Anna, of Milton, and DeAnna Joiner and her husband, David, of Covington, Ga.; and special friends, Raymond Cyrus, Shelby Ball and Theadore Spencer. Harry Benton Beckett
Harry Benton Beckett, 89, of Fudges Creek, Ona, moved to his Heavenly Home Sunday, September 21, 2003. Funeral service were conducted Wednesday, September 24, at Susannah Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Winford Curry. Burial in Enon Cemetery. Harry was born October 21, 1913, a son of the late Bracy and Georgia Keenan Beckett. He is also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Lois Beckett, and son-in-law, James D. Hatfield. He was a member for 53 years of the Susannah Missionary Baptist Church, many of those years spent as the treasurer. Harry was retired from INCO, and was a 53-year member of the Masonic-Minerva Lodge of Barboursville. He is survived by his wife, Eula Loudermilk Beckett; one daughter, Ann B. Hatfield; and his grandson, James A. Hatfield. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.
Kathleen E. Browning
Kathleen E. Browning, 89, of Peytona went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 19, 2003, after an extended illness. Born Feb. 20, 1914, at Milton, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Reva Painter Ayers. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul C. Browning. Mrs. Browning was a homemaker and a member of Atha Chapel Church, near Peytona.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Costella and Toney Linsky of Peytona, Phyllis and Fred Mullins of Milton; grandchildren, Mike and Sandy Linsky of Glen Dale, Pam and Bob Mullett of Madison, Tim and Laura Linsky of Hurricane, Debbie and Charles Conard and Rusty and Vickie Mullins, all of Milton; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, September 21 at Steven Funeral Home, Madison, with the Rev. Tom Bias officiating. Burial in Milton Cemetery, Milton, with Bob Mullett officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Atha Chapel Church or to the Gideons of Boone County.
