Charles R. Payne
Charles Robert John “Rob” Payne, 31, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Winfield, died November 10, 2003, at CAMC General Hospital, following a short illness.
He was a 1990 graduate of Winfield High School. He was a graduate of West Virginia University and the University Pittsburg School of Law. He was a member of the American Bar Association and Beta Gamma Sigme Honor Society. He was a self-employed attorney practicing in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Duane Payne.
Surviving: parents, Doris and Leon Moore of Winfield; fiancee, Julia S. Bailey of Pittsburgh; sister, M. Kathleen Thomas of Grand Junction, Colorado; brother, Keith D. Payne of Louisville, Kentucky; nieces, Olivia and Alexandra Gilligan.
Service was held Friday, November 14, 2003, at Chapman Funeral Home, with Pastor Susan Haynes of Southwest Church of God officiating.
Linda K. Parker
Linda K. Parker, 49, of Eleanor died November 9, 2003.
She was an elementary school teacher in Putnam County and a member of the Kanawha Trail Club and the NEA/WVEA. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Nitro, where she was an elder, Sunday school teacher, God's Kids leader, and Long Range Steering Committee member. She was an avid reader and toll painter.
Surviving: husband, Roger Curtis Hardway; son, Ravi Daniel Parker at home; mother, Mrs. Betty Jane Osborne Skidmore of Hometown; stepdaughter, Kelley and husband, Alan Manson of Chesapeake; stepson, Jim and wife, Lee Ann Parker of Chesapeake; brother, Danny Skidmore of Hometown; uncles, Bob and wife Jean “Donna” Osborne of Wallback, Douglas and wife, Janet Osborne of Bickmore; aunts, Jewell Stalnaker of Newport News, Virginia, Martha and husband, Simpson Neal of Bickmore.
Service was held Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church in Nitro with the Rev. Ed Thompson and the Rev. Cliff Sutherland officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Cathleen P. Payne
Cathleen P. Payne, 79, of Scott Depot, formerly of Grand Blanc, Michigan, died November 6, 2003, in Thomas Memorial Hospital.
She was born September 23, 1924 in Clay County, the daughter of the late Jesse Edward and Fannie Caldwell Samples. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Harry Payne, brothers, Hubert, Ralph and Rodney Samples, and sisters, Vida Cecil and Geneva Perryman.
She was a member of Judson Baptist Church, Winfield.
Surviving: sister, Opal White of Scott Depot; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Steve Jarrish of Burton, Michigan; son and daughter-in-law, John Charles and Faye Payne of Kingsport, Tennessee; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was held Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at King-Mullins Cemetery, Bomont. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements.
Barbara S. Collins
Barbara S. Collins, 58, of Hurricane died November 13, 2003.

Christine Justel Guetzloff
Christine Justel Guetzloff, Ph.D., 34, of Scott Depot died November 15, 2003, at home following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born January 16, 1969 in Hendricks, Minnesota, a daughter of Charles Richter of Colman, South Dakota and the late Bernadette Luze-Richter. She was a member of The Catholic Church of the Ascension, Hurricane, participated as a marriage sponsor of the Couple-to-Couple League, and was an adjutant faculty member of West Virginia State College, Chemistry Department, Institute.
Her hobbies included fishing, camping, various styles of music, painting, drawing, piano, and Catholicism. She was salutatorian of Colman High School Class of 1987, and received her doctorate in Bio-Chemistry from South Dakota University where she was voted Outstanding Graduate Student two consecutive years. She was published in several professional journals in various subjects, especially breast cancer.
Surviving: husband, Thomas Guetzloff, Ph.D.; children, Megan Guetzloff and Jacob Guetzloff, both at home; father and stepmother, Charles and Jacqueline Richter of Colman; sisters, Laura Richter of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Virginia Rasmussen of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Elizabeth Lemkuhl of Clarinda, Iowa, Julie Richter of Dallas, Texas, and Nancy Richter of Brookings, South Dakota; brothers, Charles Richter, Jr. of Seattle, Washington, William Richter, Ezekiel Richter and Alexander Richter, all of Brookings, South Dakota.
Mass of the Resurrection was held Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at The Catholic Church of the Ascension with the Rev. Father Neil Buchlein as celebrant. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, November 22, 2003, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Colman, South Dakota, with the Rev. Father Richard Fox as celebrant. Minor Moore, 91, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 13, 2003, at Sunbridge Care of Putnam. Onna Ival McClure, 90, of Barboursville, W.Va., formerly of Danville, W.Va, died at her home on Nov. 15, 2003. The widow of Lawrence McClure, she was born in Garretts Bend, in Lincoln County, W Va, on Dec. 3, 1912. She was the daughter of the late LD. and Isabell McCallister Alford. She was a member of Danville Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Owen “Dutch' and Kathleen McClure of Kissimmee, Fla, James and Gloria McClure of Kenova, W.Va., Clint and Joyce McClure of Merritt Island, Fla., and Carl Ray and Marijo McClure of Warner Robins, Ga., and two daughters, Ms. Eloise McClure of Bunnell, Fla., and Levana “Pug” Griffith and son-in-law, Robert H. Griffith of Huntington, W.Va. Preceding her in death were two brothers, Andy Alford and Palmer Alford and one sister, Ova Thornton. Ronald Ray
Ronald Ray, 92 years old, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at his residence in Milton, WV. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Mary Vanyo Ray, who died in 1969. Mr. Ray was a career military naval officer, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade during his distinguished naval career. He served in World War II and was stationed at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7,1941. Mr. Ray was born March 31, 1931, on Bear Creek, Lincoln County, West Hamlin, W Va, the son of Ira Scott and Elizabeth Zirkle Ray. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Jack Ray, Sam Ray and John `Tuck” Ray and one sister, Ossie Ray Gissell. Surviving is one sister, Deloris Perry of South Charleston W.Va. He is also survived by R. Scott and Barbara Ray of Grayson Ky., Barbara S. Siebert of Interlaken, Fla., Leona “Noni” Ray of Interlaken, Justinia L. Ray Heydon of Tabernacle, N.J., and Justin L and Debra D. Ray of Milton W.Va. In addition there are eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren surviving Mr. Ray. Mildred Quisenberry Taylor
Mildred Quisenberry Taylor, 93 of Huntington died Thursday, November 13, 2003, in Woodlands Community Health Care. She was born June 29,1910, in Grayson, Ky, a daughter of the late Dr. Sterling Price Quisenberry and Althea Ault Quisenberry . She was a retired schoolteacher from Cammack Junior and Milton High Schools. The widow of R. E Lee Taylor, she was also preceded in death by her son, James Boyce Taylor and two brothers, Ben Bagby and Rhodes Quisenberry. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Wanda Taylor of Ona; three grandchildren, Robert E. Taylor II and his wife Courtney of Milton, Amy Dial and her husband Jason of South Point, Ohio and Robin Moses and her husband Leroy of Barboursville; three great-grandchildren Noah and Emma Taylor and Zachary Dial; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Bagby of Huntington and her very special caretakers, Donna Sloane, Bonnie Leep, Linda Smith, Sandy Reffitt and Dora Tackett. Services were held Monday, November 17, 2003 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens by Dr. Allen Reasons. Interment
followed. There was no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Emily Inez Smith
Emily Inez Smith, 83, of Milton, widow of Ralph Smith, passed away November 16, 2003 in Mariner Health Care of Huntington. Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Milton Cemetery with Rev. Keith Leap officiating. Emily was born November 21, 1920, a daughter of the late Frank and Maude Nicholas Perry. She is also preceded in death by three sons, Ralph Smith, Howard Smith, Lawrence Smith. Emily is survived by four daughters, Eva McClure, Rebecca Smith, Deborah McGuire and Marsha Clay; four sons, James Smith, Hobert Smith, Benjamin Smith and Philip Smith; and several grandchildren. Helen was born October 15, 1914, a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Manczak. She is survived by her husband, Carlos E. Cobb; one son and daughter-in-law, Allison “Corky” Layman Jr. and his wife Lin of Athalia, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Richardson of Bunker Hill, Ind., and Donna and George Fuller of Proctorville, Ohio. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jerry Lee Hineman, 69, of Huntington, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 11, 2003, at Mariner Health Care. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 15, 2003, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Elder Harold Johnson. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. He was born November 19, 1933, in Wayne County, a son of the late Curtis and Helen Church Hineman. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo Hensley. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife Marie Johnson Hineman; one son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert and Cheryl Hineman of Ona; one brother, James Hineman of Huntington; and two grandchildren, Ashley Hineman and Shane Hineman.

Bailey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Naomi and David Mitchell of Lesage, W.Va., and Ardeena and Donald Lambert of Aiken, S.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Arden and Diana Brooks and Paul and Tina Brooks, all of Proctorville, Ohio; two stepchildren, Chester A. Vercie Parsons
Vercie Parsons, 89, of Salt Rock, WV, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Lincoln Continuous Care Center, Hamlin, W.Va. Vercie was born May 6, 1914 in Branchland, W.Va., the daughter of the late Elbert and Mami Hicks Triplett. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Oliver Parsons, and one daughter, Martha Parsons. Vercie loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Merritts Creek Church of Christ. She is survived by four sons, Alfred E. Parsons of Kansas City, Mo., Arlin J. Parsons (Christine) of Wytheville, Va., Harold D. Parsons of Salt Rock, W.Va., and Elbert F. Parsons of Kansas City, Mo.; four daughters, Freda Harmon of Barboursville, W.Va., Ardith Parsons of Cincinnati, Ohio, Wilma L. McComas (Kyle) of Barboursville, W.Va., and Linda L. Johnson (Gary) of Hurricane, W.Va.; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Nov. William W. Willard
William W. “Bill” Willard, 79, of Scott Depot died November 2, 2003, in Putnam General Hospital.
He was born August 19, 1924, a son of the late Lewis A. Sr. and Grace M. Carnes Willard. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary, brothers, Jack and Bob Willard, and sister, Mary Roberts.
He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and a former owner of Country Furniture at the Milton Flea Market. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was a lifelong resident of Putnam County.
Surviving: daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve Stamper of Scott Depot; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Diana Willard of Leon, Alan and Jenny Willard of Florida; sisters, Betty Burdette of Charleston and Judy Taylor of Cross Lanes; brothers, Charles Willard of Poca and Jim Willard of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Anthony Payne of Scott Depot, Kelly Payne of Columbus, Ohio, Billy Willard and Jeanette Willard, both of Hurricane, Jason Payne of Fort Rucker, Alabama, Amber Willard, Jacob Willard and Brinkley Willard, all of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida; great-granddaughters, Madeline Litton of Asheville, North Carolina and Brooklyn Best of Columbus; special friends, Lovell “Lovely” Moses of Charleston and Mary Palmer of Clendenin.

Mary E. Garrison, 80, of Buffalo died November 3, 2003, in Putnam General Hospital, following a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell D. Garrison.
Surviving: daughter, Dottie Warren of Buffalo; sons, Dwane Garrison of Red House, Carl Garrison of Buffalo, Mike Garrison of Leon, and Larry Garrison of Buffalo; brother, Bob Blankenship of Texas; sister, Ruby Boycle of Circleville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren.

Naomi Craigo
Naomi Gibson Craigo, 94, of Poca died November 5, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnie D. Craigo.
She was a member of Painter Bethel Church and attended Black Betsy Community Church.
Surviving: children, Denzil Craigo of Poca, Dale Craigo of St. Albans, Oshel Craigo of Winfield, and Louanna Higginbotham of Nitro; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
