Jettie J. Rucker
Jettie J. Rucker, 76, of Nitro died November 6, 2003, in Thomas Memorial Hospital.
He was retired from Allied Chemical and co-owner of Rucker's Body Shop. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, receiving the Purple Heart, and a member of West Virginia Home Mission Church.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Jamie Cain.
Surviving: his loving wife, Lola Eloise Rucker; sons, Larry Rucker and wife, Paula of Poca, Marty Rucker and wife, Missy of Eleanor, David Rucker and wife, Kim of Cross Lanes; daughters, Bonnie Stickdorn and husband, Butch of Nitro, Teresa Reid of Nitro, Debbie McGrew and husband, Darrell of Winfield; grandchildren, Paul and Chris Rucker, Tara and James Cain, Rodney and Robert Rucker, Jason and Scott Reid, Christi and Joshua McGrew, David, Michelle and Holliann Rucker; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Rachel Cain; step-grandchildren, Billy, Alex and Zack Meddings, Emil Cyrus and Austin Snyder; mother, Gladys Rucker of Dunbar; sister, Linda McCormick of Dunbar.
Service was held Sunday, November 9, 2003, at West Virginia Home Mission Church with Pastor Joe Scarberry officiating. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Delma “Jean” Barton
Delma “Jean” Barton, 71, of Paradise, formerly of St. Albans and Summersville, died November 6, 2003, at CAMC following a short illness.
She was a Baptist and retired from Kanawha County Schools.
Surviving: husband, Owen Barton; son, Michael Barton and wife, Elizabeth of Scott Depot; daughter, Wilhelmina “Cookie” Hinzman of Paradise; sisters, Velva Woods of London, Birdie Phillips of Mount Lookout, and Betty Lingle of Massilon, Ohio; brother, Jennings Rose of Gauley Bridge; grandchildren, Bethany and Joseph Barton of Scott Depot; numerous nieces and nephews.
Service was held Sunday, November 9, 2003, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, with the Rev. Don Myers officiating. Burial was in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Charlotte Gay Gue Maynard
Charlotte Gay Gue Maynard, 46, of Salt Rock, W.Va., went to be with the Lord at St. Mary's Medical Center on Wednesday, November 5, 2003. Charlotte was born on July 2, 1957, in Lincoln County, W.Va., a daughter of Arnetta Nicely of Huntington, W.Va., and Hubert Haskell Gue of Madison Creek W.Va. She was a certified Nursing Assistant and a member of Gethsemane United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband, Herman Maynard; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jessica and Adam Bowen of Huntington and Gloria Ann Maynard at home; three grandchildren, Alex, Jeston and Eliza Bowen; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Gloria and John Maynard of Salt Rock, Regina Jenkins of Nobleton, Florida and Sheila Johnson of Huntington; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Lloyd and Shirley Gue of Ashton, Joe Gue of Huntington, and Thomas Gue of Branchland; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 8, 2003, at Gethsemane United Baptist Church, 4-H Camp Road, Barboursville by the Rev. Sherwood Thompson and Rev. John Gilkerson. Burial in Luther Adkins Cemetery, Beech Fork Road. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.
Nancy Carroll McKee
Nancy Carroll McKee, 63, of Wilson, N.C, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 4, 2003. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 7 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born on July 21, 1940, in Huntington, a daughter of Ellen Moore McKee of Wilson, and the late Elmer McKee. She attended Westmoreland Holiness Church in Wilson. She was preceded in death by aunt Lorena Angelo; uncles Willard Gooderham and Ray Woodall Survivors include adopted brothers Tony Angelo and Ricci Angelo, both of Wilson, and Dana Angelo of Seattle, Wash.; aunts Garnet Gibson and Mildred Gooderham, both of Huntington, and Mary Woodall of Barboursville; uncle and aunt, Charles and Helen Moore of Culloden. There was no visitation. Arrangements by Wallace Funeral Home.
Clyde Harold “Jack” Reynolds
Clyde Harold “Jack” Reynolds, 75, of Milton, husband of Louise Cremeans Reynolds, went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 3, 2003, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 7, at Heck Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Ashworth and Rev. Carl Merritt officiating. Burial followed in Forest Memorial Park Cemetery, Milton. He attended the Church in the Valley of Milton. Clyde sang with his family, “Singing Reynolds Family, for 42 years in the Tri-state area. He was also a member of the Nitro and Covered Bridge Antique Car Clubs. His special hobby restoring antique cars after his retirement from Union Carbide for 33 1/2 years. Born September 27, 1928, he was the son of the late Harold and Genevieve Davis Reynolds. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Rev. John B. Cremeans and son-in law, Jerry M. Black. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Reynolds Black and Betty Jean Reynolds of Milton. One grandson, Jeff Black and his wife Kim; two special great grandchildren Caitlin and Jonathan Michael Black; mother-in-law, Winnie Woody Cremeans; brother-in-law, Dr. Charles D. Cremeans and his wife, Mary; two sisters, Avis Beaty and Audrey Gibson. Edna W. Scarbro, 83, of Barboursville went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 3, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, November 6, 2003, at Farmdale Church of Christ by Minister Danny Evans. Burial Thursday, November 6, 2003 at Montgomery Memorial Park in London, W.Va. She was born on January 6, 1920, in Montgomery, W.Va., a daughter of the late Edward and Jesse Stevens Forms. She was a member of Farmdale Church of Christ for 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Scarbro; grandson, Kevin Scarbro; two sisters, Barbara Dunlap and Virginia Rinehart; one brother, David Forms. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John E. and Brenda Scarbro Jr. of Rutledge, Tenn., and Ronald L. and Cecilia Scarbro of Athens, W.Va.; one brother, Edward Forms of Cleveland; five grandchildren, Brent Scarbro, Holly Woody, Jason Scarbro, Michael Scarbro and Jill McLaury; four great-grandchildren, Kaeli and Kaleb Woody and Brent Kevin and Brooke Scarbro; special niece and caregiver, Frances Rinehart, numerous loving nieces, nephews and in-laws. Lois Jane Basenback, 55, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2003, at St Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Monday, November 10, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by Pastor Chris Stamper. Burial in Barker Ridge Cemetery. She was born October 9,1948, in Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Lawrence Martin Smith and Eliza Elizabeth Smith. She is survived by her husband, Gary Basenback; one daughter, Spirit Scarberry of Idaho; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Brad Poe of Idaho, Martin and Katherine Poe, Robert and Georgia Poe and Douglas Poe and Sharon Kaylor, all of Huntington; four sisters, Karen Sugars and Brenda Paynter, both of Huntington, Elizabeth Calderon of Ohio, and Lori Johnson of Idaho; three brothers, Keith Smith of Ohio, Larry Smith and Russell Smith, both of Huntington; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.
Bobby Lee Tucker
Bobby Lee Tucker, 70, of Lakin died October 29, 2003, in Pleasant Valley Hospital.
He was a native of Putnam County, a former employee of Conner and Amos Nursery and a former member of First United Pentecostal Church, Hometown.
Surviving: brothers, Walter “Junior” Tucker of Belleville, Ohio, Denver Tucker of Teays Valley, Paul Tucker of South Charleston, and John Tucker of Teays Valley; sisters, Mary Walters of Nitro and Frances Rollins of Hometown; several nieces and nephews.
Service was held Friday, October 31, 2003, at Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, with the Rev. William Carter officiating. Burial was in Maden Cemetery, Red House.
Carol Whittington
Carol Whittington, 86, of Buffalo died October 30, 2003, in Putnam General Hospital following a short illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James William and Maggie Allen Whittington, and one brother, Leo Whittington.
He was an employee of AEP with 33 years of service and a lifelong resident of Buffalo.
Surviving: wife, Alberta Mae Landers Whittington; sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin Ray and Marjorie Whittington, Larry Joe and Doris Jane Whittington, and Carrol Richard Whittington, all of Buffalo; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Service was held Saturday, November 1, 2003, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with Pastor Denver Tucker officiating. Burial was in Cross Creek Cemetery.
Dorothy Lee Quentrill
Dorothy Lee Quentrill, 63, of Hurricane died October 30, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Quentrill on April 17, 1993.
She was a 25-year resident of Hurricane and attended Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church.

Service was held Monday, November 3, 2003, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, Cross Lanes, with Pastor Harold White Jr. and Pastor Gary Hale officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Sarah Elizabeth Cobb
Sarah Elizabeth “Happy” Cobb, 96, of Little Creek, formerly of Teays Lane, Hurricane, died October 29, 2003, in CAMC General Hospital following a short illness.
Born May 5, 1907 in Wallback, she was a daughter of the late David and Viola Legg. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Cecil Herman Cobb, daughter, Carolyn Gooch, sisters, Gertie Paxton, Maude Brown, Flora Paxton and Willa Legg, and brother, Bob Legg.
She was a retired postal worker, a homemaker and ran her own upholstery shop . She was a member of Johnston Chapel on Teays Lane. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing piano and spending time with her family. She was known for the “Happy” whistle she had.
Surviving: sister, Sylvia “Pete” Vineyard of Newton; daughters, Jeanne Reed of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Kaye Brown of Chesapeake, and Jackie Conway of Alhambra, California; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
Service was held Friday, November 7, 2003, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with Pastor John Hudson officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wallback.
