Jamestown, KY, passed away Monday, August 25, 2003 at the Norton Audobon Hospital in Louisville. She was a retired school teacher in the Russell County School System after having taught for 47 years. Survivors include one son, Darrell (Kathie) Andrew, Jamestown, KY; one brother, Thearon (Violet) Collins, Jamestown, KY; two granddaughters, Angela Andrew and Elaina Andrew, both of Jamestown, KY. She was preceded in death by a brother, M. Colan Collins and also an infant brother, Jackie. Funeral services were Wednesday, August 27, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Kingry officiating. Special singers were Shawna Wallace, Jane Ann Coffey, Elaina Andrew and Ann Blakey. Interment was in the Blakey Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jackie Campbell, Jerry Campbell, Paul Helm, Jr, Phillip Collins, Gary Collins, and Thearon Collins, Jr.. Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Audra Shearer Compton, 82,
A resident of Fair Oaks Nursing Home, formerly of Jefferson County, died Saturday, July 22, 2003 at the nursing home. She was the daughter of the late Granvel and Emma Floyd Shearer and a retired educator in several school systems. She is survived by two sons, Bro. J.D. Melson, Jamestown, KY and Gary Dean Foley, Louisville, KY; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were Monday, July 28, 2003 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Cooper officiating. Interment was in the Rippetoe Springs, Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Clearcy Jewell Conner, 99,
Jamestown, KY passed away Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late James and Winnie Gossett Conner. She is survived by three sons, Billy J.(Lola) Conner,and Norman Conner, both of Jamestown, KY and Buford (Lana) Conner, Indianapolis, IN; one daughter, Patsy (Joey) Garrett), Franklin, IN; eight grandchildren and four step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son, Murrell Conner. Funeral services were Monday, January 27, 2003 with Bro. J.L. Skaggs officiating. Interment was in the Grider Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were William Conner, Alexander Conner, Michael Conner, Jerry Conner, Joey Miller, Johnathan Miller, and Billy Conner. H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Roy Cook, 67,
Columbia, KY passed away suddenly on Monday, September 15, 2003 at the Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room in Columbia, KY. He was the son of the late George and Flora Harmon Cook of Adair County, KY He was survived by his wife, Doris Kerr Cook, Columbia, KY; two sons, Garry and his wife Sherry Cook, Columbia, KY and Ronald and his wife Londa Cook, Russell Springs, KY; two daughters, Adalene Cook, and Faye Cook, both of Columbia, KY; three sisters, Ruby Burton, Columbia, KY, Shirley Parson, Campbellsville, KY and Rosie McGaha, Columbus, IN; six grandsons and one step-grandson, David Cook, Chris Cundiff, Kevin Cundiff, Marty Cundiff, Terry Harmon, Ben Harmon, and Jeremy Cape; two great grandsons and one step great granddaughter, Aiden Cook, Michael Harmon and Tyra Cape. Mr. Cook was retired from Gaddie Shamrock Quarry in Columbia, KY. Funeral services were Thursday, September 18, 2003 in the chapel of Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Richie Curtis officiating. Interment was in the Freedom Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were, Jeremy Cape, Kenneth Cook, Larry Cundiff, Ricky Cook, Rodney Blankenship and Junior Irvin. Active pallbearers were Chris Cundiff, David Cook, Kevin Cundiff, Marty Cundiff, Ben Harmon, and Terry Harmon. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Janice K. Daffron, 61,
Jamestown, KY passed away Sunday, September 13, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a co-owner of the Russell Register Newspaper and a long-time employee of Russell County Hospital working in the Radiology Department.
Survivors include her husband, Charles “Chuck” Daffron, Jamestown, KY; one son, Wade (Renee’) Daffron, Jamestown, KY; her mother, Virginia Ensminger, Shelbyville, IN; one brother, Maurice Ensminger; Shelbyville, IN; one sister, Margaret Garnett, Florence, KY; and two grandsons, Myles and Evan Daffron. Funeral services were Thursday, September 18, 2003 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Holloway officiating. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Lake Cumberland Animal Welfare League, P.O. Box 33, Jamestown, KY. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Jewelline “Jewel” Daniels, 58
Daughter of the late Harlan and Lora “Ma” Brooks Worley. Born in McQueary Co. Entered this life September 13, 1944 and departed June 20, 2003 at the age of 58 years, 8 months and 7 days. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother and at the time of her passing was a member of the Bethel Church of God in Carrollton, GA June 8, 1972, Jewell was united in marriage to Danny Daniels and to this union was born 2 daughters, Lora Ann Blankenship of Carrolton GA and Leoa Weaver of Graham, AL. Other survivors include a mother-in-law, Iola Daniels; two brothers, Lynn and Ralph Lee Worley, Rita Harvey, Columbia, KY, and Fredia Roy, Russell Springs, KY. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 24, 2003 in the chapel of the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Clifford DeHart officiating. Interment was in the Thomas Ridge Cemetery in Casey Co. Pallbearers were Mark George, Jerry Scales, Charles Daniel, Larry Daniel, Luke Daniel and William Miller. McKinney-Brown Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

William Decker, 87,
Russell Springs, KY passed away Saturday, December 28, 2002 at the U.K. Medical Center. He was a retired Plumber, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church. He is survived by three brothers, Dale Decker, Toledo, IL, Ralph Decker and John Decker, both of Russell Springs, KY; four grandchildren, Bea Tucker, Della Long, Angela Duncan, and Randy Johnson; eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Zimmerman. Funeral services were Tuesday, December 31, 2002 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. David Coffey officiating. Interment was in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset, KY. Pallbearers were David Steel, Robert Curtis, Darrell Curtis, Steve Sandor, David Hale, and Robert Foley. Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Louis D. Delong,
Formerly of Russell Springs, KY, passed away at the Baptist Medical Centerin Jacksonville, FL on Wednesday, August 13, 2003. He was born January 2, 1913 to Daniel and Louise Hinger. He married Rosella Weiss who passed away in March of 1975. He was also preceded in death by one brother, one son, and one grandson. He is survived by one son, David DeLong, Halethorpe, MD and one daughter and son-in-law Judith and James Smith of Saint Marys, GA. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 18, 2003 with burial in Forest Hills Cemetery, in Piqua, OH. Obituary courtesy of Wilson Funeral Home.

John Dix, 84,
Jamestown, KY, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2003 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY. He was a retired school custodian and a member of the Cold Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Richard Dix and Douglas Dix, both of Jamestown, KY; three daughters, Patricia Thomas Hill, Jamestown, KY, Carol Joan Dix, California, Brenda Sharon Mondie, Liberty, KY; one brother, Robert Dix, California; 58 grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were Saturday, June 28, 2003 at the Cold Sprigs Primitive Baptist Church with Elder, Roger Price officiating. Interment was in the Cold Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cody Dix, Todd Dix, Jim Dix, Billy Thomas, Daryl Mondie, and Adam Aaron. Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Jamestown, KY, passed away Friday,May 30, 2003 at her residence. She was a homemaker. Funeral services were Monday, June 2, 2003 with Bro. Danny Bailey officiating. Interment was in the Jamestown Cemetery. Benjamin, Harrison Dunbar, 86,
Russell Springs, KY passed away on May 31, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. Survivors include a sister, Ella B. Dunbar and two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. He was the widower of Cecil Pendleton Dunbar. Graveside services were held on Monday, June 2, 2003 at the Lucinda Cemetery. Rippetoe Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Hatsue N. Dunbar, 71,
Tallahoma, TN passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at the Harton Hospital in Tullahoma, TN. She was retired from Tennessee Apparel in Tullahoma, TN.
Survivors include her husband, Orvis G. Dunbar, Tullahoma, TN; one son, Bobby J. Dunbar, Estill Springs, TN; one daughter, Betty Stacy, Tullahoma, TN; her mother, Toyo Nakamura, Tokyo, Japan; three brothers, Tetsuya Nakamura, Osamu Nakamura, and Ryuji Karasu, all of Tokyo, Japan; three sisters, Misako Yokoi, Tokyo, Japan, Junko Gonzalez, Michoscan, Mexico; one grandson, Chris Stacy, Hilham, TN; two granddaughters, Heather Roberts, Nashville, TN and Jennifer Stacy, Cookeville, TN and five great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were Friday, August 1, 2003 in the chapel of The Tullahoma Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Hice officiating. Interment was in the Flanagan Cemetery in Jamestown, KY. H.E. Pearl M. Emerson, 86,
Russell Springs, KY passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Eden United Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Roe Emerson and two sons, Roy (Carol) Emerson, Anchorage, Alaska and James (Dorothy) Emerson, Mt. Juliet, TN; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son,Dewey Emerson and a daughter, Louise Bradshaw. Funeral services were Friday, May 9, 2003 in the chapel of Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Herald Wright officiating. Special music was provided by Glen and Willodean Richardson. Interment was in the Wilkerson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Blakey, Ronald Robertson, Darry Flatt, Zenba Harris, Jimmy Dick, and Royce Dick. The Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ronald David Flatt, 59,
Russell Springs, KY passed away Friday, August 15, 2003 at his residence. He was a farmer and a member of the Creelsboro Christian Church. He was a 1962 Graduate of Russell County High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. He was the son of the late Delmas Marion and Nora Clayton Flatt. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Flatt, Russell Springs, KY; one daughter, Julie Marie (Brandon) Wade, Lexington, KY; one God Son, Rik Ward, Russell Springs, KY; two brothers, Kent (Shirley) Flatt and Robert Flatt, both of Russell Springs, KY. Memorial services were Monday, August 18, 2003 with Bro John C. Wilson and Rev. Tom Clark officiating. Interment was in the Potts Cemetery with full military rites by Fort Campbell. Russell Springs, KY passed away Friday, August 1 2003 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY. She was the daughter of the late Alice Hughes Twyford and Abraham Lincoln Twyford. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Friendship United Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Ada Thornton, Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Vernon Twyford, Elizabethtown, KY; three grandchildren, Jerry (Julie) Anderson, Noblesville, IN, Jimmy (Kathy) Anderson, Russell Springs, KY, Brenda (Harold Jr. ) Smith, Russell Springs, KY; three great grandchildren, Jennifer Crew, Russell Springs, KY, Carrie and Christopher Anderson, Noblesville, IN; and one great great grandchild, MaKenzie Crew. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Foley, Flora Gosser and by three brothers, Thomas, Lee, and Marvin Twyford. Funeral services were Tuesday, August 5, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Hart and Bro. Glen Richardson officiating. Interment was in the New Friendship Cemetery. Zelva Foley, 94,
Russell Springs, KY passed away Sunday, July 13, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Clear Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by two brothers, Festus (Helen) Foley and Rev. Egbert (Dora) Foley, both of Louisville, KY; one half brother, Harold Foley, Russell Springs KY; one special niece, Mary Foley and one special nephew, Hugh Polston and a host of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Vernon Foley, Ovalene Foley, Lorene Foley, Ernest Foley, Lona K. Sullivan, Olma B. Polston and Carrie Pennington. Funeral services were Tuesday, July 15, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Eugene Kimble and Bro. Cleveland Johnson officiating.
Special music was provided by Steve and Juanita Foley. Interment was in the Clear Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Verlus Polston, Hugh Polston, Michael Foley, Jason Aaron, Adam Aaron, and Travis Foley. He was an owner of Russell County Salvage for 25 years and a member of the Woodlawn Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. Survivors include his wife, Edith Fox, Russell Springs, KY; one daughter, Freda (Lance) Duffy, Russell Springs, Ky; two step children, Arnold Ray (Geraldene) Fletcher, and Elizabeth (Arnold) Holtzclaw, both of Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Joe Fox, Louisville, KY; one sister, Ruth Campisano, Louisville, KY; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were Wednesday, June 25, 2003 in the chapel of Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Cleveland Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Mill Springs National Cemetery. Laura Bernard Fox, 91,

She was the widow of Luther Fox and a retired storeowner and a long-time employee of Dr. Leslie Richardson and a member of the Russell Springs First Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Hines, Jamestown, KY; two brothers, Arlus “Red” Bernard, Russell Springs, KY and R.J. Bernard, Cincinnati, OH; one sister, Ovalene Foley, Russell Springs, KY; a granddaughter, Billie Sue Hankla, Louisville, KY; and one great granddaughter, Melody Suzanne Hankla; and a special friend, Blanche Flanagan, also survives. Funeral services were Tuesday, July 1, 2003 in the chapel of the Rippetoe Funeral Home with Bro. Stan Milby officiating. Interment was in the Russell Springs Cemetery. Shepherdsville, KY, formerly of Russell County, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Norton Audobon Hospital, Louisville, KY. He was the son of Earl Fox and the late Ruby Carol Brumley Fox. Survivors include two daughters, Brandi and Megan Fox, both of Shepherdsville, KY; his father, Earl Fox, Shepherdsville, KY; and one brother, Stephen (Paula) Fox, Louisville, KY. He was preceded in death by a sister, Johnna Carol Fox; his paternal grandparents, Amos and Letha Fox; his maternal grandparents, Elisha and Clara Weston. Funeral services were Friday, September 5, 2003 in the chapel of Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Cleveland Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Hale Cemetery. Survivors include one son, Joseph Gadberry, Columbia, KY; three grandchildren, Frances (Kenton) Antle, Columbia, KY, Gertrude Gadberry, Columbia, KY, Elaine Turner, Columbia, KY; one sister, Mary Riggins, Columbia, KY; three grandchildren, Brett Antle, Michele Hale, Rodney Turner; two great grandchildren, Audra and Amber Turner. Funeral services were Wednesday, August 28, 2003 in the chapel of Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Eubank and Bro. Randall McPherson officiating.
