Russell Springs, KY passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Jane Reagan Bevard. She is survived by one son, Lloyd W. Hunsaker, and two daughters, Gail Louise Hunsaker and Janie Morgan Loy, all of Russell Springs, KY; and 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five children, James, Thomas, Timothy, and Donald Hunsaker,and Gloria Jean Wright; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hunsaker; two sisters, Marjorie Bevard and Laura Kostal; two brothers, Charles and Robert Bevard; and two great grandchildren, Allen and Anthony Wright. Funeral services were Friday, August 15, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Kelly Burton, Jr. officiating. Interment was in the Clear Springs Cemetery. Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

June Hubbard, 71,
Jamestown, KY passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. He was a retired restaurant owner, a member of the Welfare Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was the son of the late Z.W. Hubbard and Mary Reba (Holder) Hubbard. He is survived by his wife, Gladwyn (Wilson) Hubbard, Jamestown, KY; one son, Dale (Calva) Hubbard, Jamestown, KY; two daughters, Jeanne Hubbard and Connie (Larry) Miller, both of Jamestown, KY; one grandson, Brandon Hubbard, Jamestown, KY; one granddaughter, Michelle (Billy) Coe, Russell Springs, KY; and one great-grandson, Lucas Coe, Russell Springs, KY. Funeral services were Friday, January 10, 2003 in the chapel of H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Randy Smith and Bro. Tony Stephens officiating. Interment was in the Rexroat Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were: Billy Burdette, Ralph Rexroat, Lyle Cooper, Robert Garner, Jr. Coe, Donald Wilkerson, Franklin Carnes, Almer Richards, Frank Martin, J.G. Stearns and Van Brown. Active Pallbearers were: Terry Robertson, Donald Miller, Barry Hill, Charles Walters, Jason Walters, and Roger Wheat. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of a donation to the building funds of either Welfare Baptist Church or Jamestown Christian Church. H.E. Joyce Hudson, 65,
Jamestown, KY passed away Monday, January 13, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a Home Interior Displayer. She was the widow of Hubert Hudson and the daughter of the late Elbert Clay and Daisy Garner Burchett. She is survived by two sons, Bobby Hudson, Russell Springs, KY and Brent Hudson, Jamestown, KY; two daughters, Marsha Brower and Kathy Franklin, both of Russell Springs, KY; two brothers, Codell and Glen Burchett, both of Jamestown, KY; one sister, Nadine Rexroat of Jamestown, TN; and 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Darnell and Kermit Burchett. Funeral services were Wednesday, January 15, 2003 in the chapel of H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Herl Robertson, Bro. Ronnie Loy and Bro. Johnny Rexroat officiating. Interment was in the Rexroat Cemetery.

James E. “Bud” Hughes, 57,
Glensfork, KY, formerly of Jeffersonville, IN passed away on Friday, September 5, 2003 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY after a short illness. Mr. Hughes was a retired Postal Employee from the Jeffersonville, IN Post Office and he was an avid fisherman and hunter, a U.S. Army veteran and devoted son. Survivors include his mother, Maurine Andrew Hughes, Glensfork, KY; one sister, Barbara (Harold) Vibbert, Pendleton, IN; one nephew, Jamey Vibbert, Lapel, IN; one niece, Kelly Kerchner, Anderson, IN; six great nieces and nephews, Stephen, Jeremy and Devon Humphries and Breanna , Cody and Kayle Vibbert. Funeral services were Monday, September 8, 2003 in the chapel of Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Damron officiating. Interment was in the Haven Hill Cemetery in Columbia, KY. Pallbearers were Bill Aaron, Jason Andrew, Kenneth Andrew, Stephen Humphries, Darrel Grider, and Harold Vibbert. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Gertie Johnson, 79,
Russell Springs, KY, passed away Friday, August 8, 2003 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Belva Dunbar Popplewell and Otha Lee Popplewell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Tony Johnson, Irvine, CA; one daughter, Sue Blair, Russell Springs, KY; three sisters, Evelyn Lee, Liberty, KY, Nina Dunbar, Russell Springs, KY, and Dinah Hurt, Louisville, KY; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren and special friend, Arlene Robertson. She was preceded in death by a son, Bro. Garry Johnson, a grandson, Tim Blair, five brothers, Bro. Roger Popplewell, Jack Popplewell, James Elmo “Mose” Popplewell, Otto Vernon “Red” Popplewell, Phillip Popplewell, and a son-in-law, Louis Blair. Funeral services were Sunday, August 10, 2003 in the chapel Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Richie Curtis officiating. Special music was provided by Janice Popplewell, Robin Riddle, and Amy Ballinger. Interment was in the McBeath Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roger Hart, Jordan Hart, Matthew Johnson, Rick Godbey, Benjamin Johnson, and Nick Johnson. Bessie Johnson Karney, 93,
Russell Springs, KY, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2003 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY. She was a homemaker and a member of the High Street Baptist Church, in Somerset, KY. Survivors include one brother, Herman (Earlene) Johnson, Russell Springs, KY; Two sisters, Opal Gaskin, Somerset, KY and Lucille Sumner, Le Roy, IL; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Wednesday, July 2, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Sammie Adkins officiating.
Interment was in the Hatfield Cemetery in Jabez, KY. Pallbearers were Quentin Gaskin, Eli Stephens, Bobby Johnson, Steven DeBord, Steve DeBord and James Kennett. Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Bonnie Pelly Kean, 91,
Louisville, Ky, formerly of Adair County passed away Friday, August 22, 2003 at her home. She was a former Adair County teacher and Head of housekeeping at the Courier Journal in Louisville. She was a member of the St. Stephens Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Charles (Peggy) Kean; two daughters, Marilyn Werner and Carolyn (Bill) Pierce; one brother, Samuel Pelly; three sisters, Catherine Cundiff, Russell Springs, KY, Frances Fultz and Wilma Ballou; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Monday, August 25, 2003 in the chapel of O.D. White & Sons Funeral Home in Louisville, KY. Interment will be in the Cave Hill Cemetery. Columbia, Ky passed away Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was retired from General Electric in Louisville, KY and a member of Purdy Separate Baptist Church, a Separate Baptist minister and the Pastor of Christian Church Home in Jabez, KY. He was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was the son of the late Hobert and Pearl Coffey Kerns of Adair County. Survivors include his wife, Renea Coomer Kerns, Columbia, KY; one son, Roy David (Nancy) Kerns, Shepherdsville, KY; four daughters, Diann (James) Elliott, Shepherdsville, KY, Patsy (Paul) Young, Baytown, TX, June (Roy) Moore, Hustonville, KY and Rebecca (Terry) Ashbaugh, Shepherdsville, KY; two brothers, Joe Kerns, Columbia, KY and Dallas Kerns, Bardstown, KY; four sisters, Allene Burton and Dorothy Kerns, both of Columbia, KY, Alta Burnett, Taylorsville, KY and Mabel Barnes, Bardstown, KY; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, James, and Charlie Kerns. Funeral services were Tuesday, May 13, 2003 in the chapel of the Stotts-Phelps- McQueary Funeral Home with Rev. James Hale, Bro. Donnie Smith and Bro. Junior Holmes officiating. Interment was in the Haven Hill Cemetery.

Alfred Lawless, 80,
Russell Springs, KY passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at his residence. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Hayes Chapel United Methodist Church.
He was the son of the late Owen and Lura (Chapman) Lawless. Survivors include a special niece-in-law, Janet Lawless and a special great nephew, Garrett Lawless, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Friday, June 6th in the chapel of H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Mike Coppersmith officiating. Special music was provided by the Hayes Chapel United Methodist Church Choir. Interment was in the Russell Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leonard Gaskins. Jeremy Coffey, Michael Robertson, Martie Robertson, Darren Roy and Terry Bailey. H.E. Waldo Luttrell, 78,
Russell Springs, KY passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital. He was a retired bus driver and a member of the Mt. Eden United Baptist Church. He is survived by one son, Gary Luttrell,and one daughter, Patricia Smith; both of Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Edward Luttrell, Russell Springs, KY;and three sisters, Cletta Aaron, Russell Springs, KY, Dorothy Roy and Lacona Lewis, both of Champaign, IL; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Johnson Luttrell, his parents, John A. Luttrell and Bertha Gosser Luttrell, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were Thursday, January 23, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Roy and Bro. Elvis Tucker officiating. Interment was in the Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Luttrell, Roger Collins, Tommy Holt, Avalee Smith, Paul Aaron, and Joe Aaron. Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Randy Meece Sr., 59
Louisville, KY passed away Monday, July 14, 2003 at Norton Audobon Hospice Care Center. He was retired from General Electric as a Benefit Specialist and a member of the Parkland Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. He was an avid supporter of the Cards Club Special Forces for the University of Louisville. Survivors include his wife, Sara Harris Meece, Louisville, KY; one daughter, Rhonda (David) Grider, Louisville, KY and one son, Randal (Tonya) Meece, Jamestown, KY; and his mother, Hope(Artise) Tarter, Liberty, KY; and five grandchildren, Shannan, Brittany, Deanna, Johnathon and Molly.
Funeral services were Friday, July 18, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Curry and Rev. Monty Moore officiating. Interment was in the Jamestown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clint Voils, Chris Adams, Tim Harris, Kerry Harris, Todd Dutton, Kerry Flatt and David Woodward. Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Patricia A. Murray Malone, 54,
Noblesville, IN,formerly of Jamestown, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2003 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She had worked at Riverview Hospital and Shades of Tan in Indiana for many years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lapel, IN and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Noblesville, IN and enjoyed playing Bingo. She is survived by one son, Greg (Shari) Malone; one daughter, Kim (Steve) Cook; three brothers, Bobby (Pat) Murray, Jeff Murray and Steve Murray, all of Noblesville, IN; two sisters, Debbie (Dennis) Bond, Noblesville, IN and Phyllis Williamson, Fishers, IN; two grandchildren, Garrett Matthew Cook and Bryan Dale Malone; host of nieces and nephews and a best friend, Bernice Partain, Noblesville, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Malone and her parents, Elmer Ray and Martha Anilene Murray. Funeral services were Wednesday, May 14, 2003 in the chapel of Randall & Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Lowe officiating. Interment was in the Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville, IN. Audrey Pearl McKinley, 98,
Russell Springs, KY passed away Friday, January 17, 2003 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late William Owsley and Ida Mae Smith McBeath and the widow of Roy Lee McKinley. She was a homemaker and a member of the Coffey’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Lucian “Peanut” (Fay) McKinley, Columbia, KY and Danny Neal (Heidi) McKinley, Frankfort, Germany; one daughter, Nellie (Edwin) Lawless, Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Garnett McBeath, Russell Springs, KY; one sister, Faye Hopper, Russell Springs, KY; 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Nathan Lee and Billy McKinley. Funeral services were Monday, January 20, 2003 in the chapel of Bernard Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Johnson and Bro. Jim Kingry officiating. Special music was provided by Dean McKinley. Interment was in the Coffey’s Chapel Cemetery. (Liana) McQueary, Russell Springs, KY, Barry D. McQueary, Walton, KY, Danny G. (Sue) McQueary, Russell Springs, KY and Tony (Sue) McQueary, Russell Springs, KY; two sisters, Donna Sue (Jim) Seaton, Greenfield, IN and Shirley R. (Steve) Oliver, Bowling Green, KY; two grandchildren, Dylan Lane and Cole Garrett McQueary, Russell Springs, KY also survive. He was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Harlan, Gene, and Ronnie Murphy and one sister, Jeanette Taylor. Survivors include three sisters, Theda Conway, Jamestown, KY, Sue Jones, Eagle, Idaho and Barbara Sorg, Anderson, IN; one brother, Elwood Neathery, Jamestown, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
