He pursued life and its challenges with the same zeal as when he was a barefoot boy playing basketball on a dirt court at a one room Oak Grove rural school in Russell County, KY. He spent his spare time with family even when Marilyn would encourage him to pursue activities away from home, he would reply that he would not have married her if he had not wanted to spend time with her and their family. Throughout his life, he never forgot the place of his roots, even though he left his place of birth as a young man, he often would recall fond memories of his youth. His love and appreciation for family led him and Marilyn through many years of work of genealogy research that resulted in the publishing of My Kentucky Kinfolk. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians and staff of the University of Kentucky Hospital.
