Millard McGaha
Millard McGaha, 87, Franklin, Indiana, formerly of Adair County, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2000 at Vencor Indianapolis South Hospital in Greenwood, Indiana, after an illness.
He was the son of the late Allen and Alta Bryant McGaha and was preceded in death by his wife Rettie Francis Bryant McGaha on August 24, 1985.
He is survived by one daughter, Della Fay Bryant, Franklin, Indiana; one son, Charles W. McGaha, Greenwood, Indiana; three brothers, Loren McGaha, Covington, Kentucky, Elbert McGaha, Florence, Kentucky and Leonard Waymon McGaha, Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Elnora Rogers, Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brenda Jean Burton, Angie Sue McGaha, Michael Bryant and Barbara Hancock; three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends survives.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister: Alfred B. McGaha, Thera McGaha, Leslie McGaha, Asa McGaha, Dewey McGaha and Hattie McGaha.
Mr. McGaha was a member of the Free Union Separate Baptist Church, a retired farmer and a saw mill worker.
Services were held Tuesday, January 18, 2000, 10:00 a.m. at Free Union Separate Baptist Church with Rev. Clifton Cowan, Rev. Jim Goff and Bro. Homer Whited.
Burial was in Free Union Cemetery.
Stotts, Phelp, McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Laura Lou Foley
Laura Lou Foley, 81, Columbia (formerly of Russell Springs) died Sunday, January 16 [2000] at Melrose Manor Health Care Center in Louisville.
She was born March 26, 1918 in Adair County to the late Lillie Mae Shaw Simpson and the late Lawrence Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest W. Foley.
She is survived by three sons, Elwood Foley, Russell Springs; Roger David Foley and Ronald Lee Foley both of Louisville; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Morgan of Russell Springs; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, January 19, 2000, 10:00 a.m. at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Cleveland Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
Bernard Funeral Home Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Lonnie Wayne Richards
Lonnie Wayne Richards, 49, died Thursday, February 24 [2000], at Russell County Hospital.
He was the son of the late Titus and Josephine Wooten Richards.
He is survived by one daughter Tammi McCarrel, Greenwood, Indiana; two sisters, Mary Guffey and Beverly Hendricks, both of Russell Springs; two brothers, Jack Richards, Jamestown and Marvin Richards, Lexington, Kentucky; and one grandchild.
Services were held Sunday, February 27, 2000, 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Rippetoe Funeral Home with Bros. Billy Dunbar and Bobby Dunbar officiating.
Burial was in Russell Springs Cemetery.
Rippetoe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Carrie Bottom Black
Carrie Bottom Black, 86, Russell Springs, died Thursday, February 24, 2000 at Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia, Kentucky.
She was born in Russell County June 2, 1913 to the late Mattie Tarter Bottom and the late Claude O. Bottom.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gillum Black; one sister Effie Womack; and five brothers Bert Bottom, Homer Bottom, Velmer Ray Bottom, Phillip Bottom, Jack Bottom.
She was a homemaker and a member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters Patricia Combest (Paul), Albany, Kentucky and Harriet Buchanan (Danny), Russell Springs; and one step grandchild, James Buchanan, Russell Springs.
Services were held Sunday, February 27, 2000, 2:00 p.m. at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Ramage officiating.
Burial was in Russell Springs Cemetery.
Special music was provided by Jo Nell Smith and Wes Bottom.
Pallbearers were H.M. Bottom, Jerry Holt, Garnet Womack, Paul Womack, Bocky Bottom and Lymon Bottom.
Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alfred C. "Al" Holt
Alfred C. "Al" Holt, Parkersburg, West Virginia, formerly Jamestown, Kentucky, died Saturday, February 19, 2000 at his home after an illness of cancer.
He was born October 19, 1920 in Milford, Illinois. He was retired from General Motors Corporation of Parma, Ohio as a job setter. He was a member of the United Auto Workers of Parma.
He was a veteran of World War II and Korea with the United States Army. His hobby was restoring classic cars.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Bonnie E. Martin Holt; three brothers, Owen Holt, Jr., Coal City, Illinois, Arvis Holt and Marshall Holt, Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Wanda Holt Miner, Indianapolis, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Owen Sarah Marcum Holt; his stepmother, Pearl Lawless Holt; one brother Alton Holt; four sisters, Beulah Heidelman Starkey, Beatrice Hayes, Tina Cooper and Jo Nell Roy.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2000 at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, West Virginia with Clergyman Robert A. Choiniere officiating.
Burial was in Coleman-Freeman Cemetery at Crystal Lake near West Union, West Virginia.

Allan Ballenger
Allan Ballenger, 52, Vienna, Virginia, formerly of Russell County, died suddenly, Saturday, February 26, 2000 in Fairfax, Virginia.
He was born in Columbia, Kentucky May 6, 1947 to Margaret Elizabeth Aaron Ballenger and Randy Ballenger who survives.
He was a computer technician, a member of Russell Springs Christian Church, a member of Russell Springs VFW and a veteran of US Army serving in Vietnam War.
Besides his parents he is survived by one son Tony (Angela Kay) Ballenger, Shelbyville, Indiana; one granddaughter, Mariah Ballenger, Shelbyville, Indiana; four brothers Glen (Clara) Ballenger, Bro. Curtis (Marcella) Ballenger and Dennis Ballenger, all of Russell Springs and Rodney (Vicki) Ballenger, Somerset, Kentucky.
Services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2000, 10:00 a.m. at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carroll Egnew officiating.
Burial was in Russell County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Dick Kolb, J.J. Hunter, Glen Ballenger, Rodney Ballenger, Curtis Ballenger and Dennis Ballenger.
Bernard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Hobert R. Brummett
Hobert R. Brummett, 61, Jamestown, died August 23, 1999.
He was born in Jamestown to the late Jane Hammonds and the late Guy Brummett.
He was a city laborer.
He is survived by two brothers, Shelby Brummett, Somerset, Kentucky and Arvil Ray Brummett, Liberty, Kentucky; and one sister Lucy Brown, Jamestown.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 25, 1999, 11:00 a.m. at Carnes Cemetery, with Bro. Dale Brown officiating.
Burial was in Carnes Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Crew, Tony King, Joseph Jaworski, J.D. Bell, Hobert Bill, Jr., Lee Passmore and Raymond Brown.
H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapels was in charge of arrangements.

Roy R. Hall
Roy R. Hall, 82, Jamestown died August 17, 1999 at Russell County Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Jamestown, December 29, 1916 to the late Lular F. Snow and the late Benjamin Harrison Hall.
He was retired from the military and a member of Jamestown Christian Church.
He is survived by two brothers Ray Hall, Rantoul, Illinois and Lawrence Hall, Anderson, Indiana.
Services were held Friday, August 20, 1999, 1:00 p.m. at Jamestown Christian Church with Bro. Tony Stephens officiating.
Burial was in Jamestown Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Hall, Jimmy Hall, Mike Hall, Bill Posey, Thorn Greene, Clay Joseph and James E. Hall.
H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapels was in charge of arrangements.

James F. Mann
James F. Mann, 61, Russell Springs, died August 19, 1999 at Westlake Cumberland Hospital.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, September 25, 1937 to the late Marie Kawrawoski and the late Joseph Clark Mann.
He was retired from Cincinnati Gas and Electric.
He was preceded in death by one daughter Evelyn Marie Mann.
He is survived by his wife Donna Gellenbeck Mann; two sons, James Mann, Jr., and Joseph C. Mann, both of Russell Springs; two daughters, Norene (Herbert) Harris and Roberta (Anthony) Smith, both of Russell Springs; one sister, Clara Strunk, Columbus, Ohio; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Services were held Monday, August 23, 1999, 2:00 p.m. at Brethren in Christ Church with Pastor Richard Lehman officiating.
Burial was in Tarter Cemetery.
Pallbearers were family members.
H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapels were in charge of arrangements.

Hollis P. Grider
Hollis P. Grider, 73, died Thursday at the Russell County Hospital.
He was the son of the late Ruel and Mary Beck Grider and a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War.
He was married to Lora Mann and she preceded him in death in 1978.
He is survived by three sons, Kevin Grider, Lancaster, Kentucky, Lester Grider, Nicholasville, Kentucky and Lonnie Van Grider, Russell Springs; one step daughter, Alice Murphy, Richmond, Kentucky; six grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Brumley, Russell Springs and Leontine Buyer, Cincinnati, Ohio; and one brother, Rev. Joe Bob Grider, Lexington, Kentucky.
Funeral services for Hollis P. Grider was held on Sunday, August 22 [2000], in the chapel of the Rippetoe Funeral Home, with Rev. Heral D. Robertson officiating.
Burial was in the Rexroat Cemetery.

Audrey E. Humble
Audrey E. Humble, 74, Somerset, Kentucky, died July 25, 1999 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.
She was born in Jamestown March 28, 1925 to the late Laura Winfrey and the late Latimer Humble.
She is survived by two brothers Oscar Humble, and Avery Humble, both of Franklin, Indiana; two sisters - Eulene Webb, Cincinnati, Ohio and Mary Cooper, Louisville, Kentucky.
Services were held July 28, 1999, 10:00 a.m. at Jamestown United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Hatton officiating.
Burial was in Price Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Ken Cooper, Greg Cooper, William Abrell, Ryan Abrell, Eugene Foley and Lester Cundiff.

Dorothy Flanagan Rippetoe
Dorothy Flanagan Rippetoe, 80, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 1999 at Russell County Hospital.
She was the owner of Rippetoe Funeral Home in Russell Springs.
Dorothy Rippetoe was the daughter of Tullie Dunbar Flanagan and Loren D. Flanagan. She and her late husband Edwin Rippetoe established the Rippetoe Funeral Home in 1939. Dorothy Rippetoe was a licensed Funeral Director. Her two sons Edward and Reid Rippetoe continue to operate the Rippetoe Funeral Home in Russell Springs.
Dorothy Rippetoe is survived by one daughter, Edwina Roy, Plano, Texas; two sons Edward and Reid Rippetoe, both of Russell Springs; two daughters-in-law Patricia and Alisha Rippetoe; six grandchildren, Sandy Rippetoe, Russell Springs, Beth Rippetoe, Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. Trish Freeman, Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Edward Rippetoe, Jr., Lexington, Kentucky, Malcolm Edwin Roy, Plano, Texas and Matthew Rippetoe, Russell Springs; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Woodrow Flanagan, Russell Springs and Dr. David Flanagan, Lexington, Kentucky; three sisters, Shirley Blount, Doris Meece and Betty Hammond, all of Lexington; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Flanagan and Verlene Flanagan, both of Russell Springs; a brother-in-law, Dwight Meece, Lexington; many nieces and nephews; and a special employee and friend Cleda Wolford, Adair County.
Preceding her in death are brothers Johnny and Dravo Flanagan.
Dorothy Rippetoe was a member of the Eastern Star, The Rebecca's, The Russell County and the Kentucky Women's Republican Club. She was also a member of the Russell Springs First Baptist Church and a Charter Member of the Russell County Business and Professional Women's Club.
Dorothy Rippetoe was known for her philanthropic endeavors as she was the area co-ordinator for the American Red Cross for many years as well as the benefactor of donating land for the location of the Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs.
The Funeral was held on Friday, August 20 at the Russell Springs First Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Ramage and Bro. Jeff Eaton officiating.
The Church Choir and Wes Bottom along with Jo Nell Smith and Angela Emerson provided special music.
Serving as casketbearers were: Brack Flanagan, David Flanagan, Jimmy Flanagan, Andrew Flanagan, Jeff Meece, Malcolm Edwin Roy, Edward Rippetoe, Jr. and Matthew Rippetoe.
Burial was in Russell Springs Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy are requested to be made in the form of donations to the Russell Springs First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Delean Thrasher
Delean Thrasher, 83, Columbia, passed away Thursday, August 19, 1999, 9:30 a.m. at Russell County Hospital after an illness.
She was the daughter of the late: James Franklin and Pelina Susan Murphy Abston of Clinton County, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Glenn D. Thrasher on December 10, 1990.
She is survived by one son, Donald Thrasher, Columbia, Kentucky; two daughters, Clara Barnes, Russell Springs and Glenda Cash, Scott Depot, West Virginia; six grandchildren, Sue Areik, Kenny Cash, Glendell Thrasher, Greg Thrasher, Suzanne Smith and Brian Barnes; and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Thrasher was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and a homemaker.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 22, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQuea ry Funeral Home in Columbia, Kentucky, with Revs. Robert McKenzie and Lonny Karnes officiating.
Interment was in Haven Hill Cemetery in Columbia, Kentucky.
Pallbearers were Brian Barnes, Kenny Cash, Lynell Petty, Ray Rowe, Glendell Thrasher and Greg Thrasher.
Stotts-Phelps-McQuea ry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
