Ethel Maude Gray
Ethel Maude Gray, 83, Jamestown, KY passed away Sunday, September 22, 2002 at the Russel County Hospital. She was a retired insurance clerk.
She is survived by three sons, Leonard Gray, McConnell, IL, David Gray, Freeport, IL and John Gray, Shorewood, IL; two daughters, Barbara Clark, Columbia, KY and Nancy Roy, Jamestown, KY; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, September 26, 2002 at the Columbia Nazarene Church with Bro. Bob McKenzie officiating. Special music was provided by Joyce Devore and Steve Stapp.
Interment
was in the Russell County Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers were Hobert Wilson, David Morgan, Buford Blair, Donnie Bennett and Bob Hoots. Active pallbearers were Lyndel Pettey, Randy Burns, Lonnie Devore, Rodney Karnes, Jed York, and Donnie Brockman.

Ray Conn
Ray Conn, 79 of Monticello, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2002 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. He was a farmer all his life.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Stepehnson Conn; one son, Joseph (Joe) Conn, Silver Spring, Maryland; one daughter, Joyce (tad) Atchley, Russell Springs; one sister, Audra Conn Arthur, Monticello; and one grandson, Richard Ray Atchley, Russell Springs, KY; and several nieces, nephews, great and great great neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Arling Conn; two sisters, Elva Conn Frost and Orpha Conn Massengale.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 21, 2002 at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home in Monticello, KY.
Interment
was in Parmley’s grove Cemetery in Wayne County.

Louisa “Baby” Foley
Louisa “Baby” Foley, 90, Russell Springs, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Friendship United Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Nannie Ragle and Lois Robertson, both of Russell Springs; and one brother-in-law, Silas Foley, Harrodsburg, KY; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Eva Tarter, Sarah Stargel, Ruth Coleman, and Ettie Irvin and six brothers, Melvin, John Daniel, Connie, Festus, Charlie and Willias Robertson.
Funeral services were Friday, September 27, 2002 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Richardson officiating. Special music was provided by Glen and Willodean Richardson.
Interment
was in the New Friendship Cemetery.

Bennie Wilson, 58, Russell Springs, Ky passed away Monday, January 20, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. He was an attendant at Louie B. Nunn Parkway and a member of the New Friendship Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Kathleen, he is survived by one son, Jason Wilson, Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Max Wilson, Mt.Washington, KY; six sisters, Edith Wilson, Dean Wilson, Alice Lee, and Bonnie Franklin, all of Russell Springs, KY and Helen James, North Carolina.

Letha Popplewell Harris, 76, of the Parks Ridge Community, wife of Hugh Harris, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2003 at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband Hugh, she is survived by four daughters, Linda Cook and Sandra Harris, both of Somerset, and Melanie Holt and Michelle Hale both of Russell Springs, KY; a brother, Delano Popplewell, Mt. Washington, KY; one sister, Rose Stephens, Russell Springs, KY; three grandchildren, Mandy Cook, Heather Hale, and Lee Holt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dover and Flona Hatfield Popplewell, one son, Ricky Hugh Harris, one brother, Cova Popplewell and one sister, Delsie Farmer.
Funeral services were Sunday, January 19, 2003 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Richie Curtis and Bro. Elvis Tucker officiating.

Waldo Luttrell
Waldo Luttrell, 78, Russell Springs, KY passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital. He was a retired bus driver and a member of the Mt. Eden United Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Gary Luttrell,and one daughter, Patricia Smith; both of Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Edward Luttrell, Russell Springs, KY;and three sisters, Cletta Aaron, Russell Springs, KY, Dorothy Roy and Lacona Lewis, both of Champaign, IL; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Johnson Luttrell, his parents, John A. Luttrell and Bertha Gosser Luttrell, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were Thursday, January 23, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Roy and Bro. Elvis Tucker officiating.

Fayette C. Willis
Fayette C. Willis, 90 of Cannon, KY was born there on November 27, 1912. He was a son of the late Newton Willis and Lizzie Chadwell Willis.
Mr. Willis passed away Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the Knox County Hospital. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by three sons, Randall (Bernice)Willis, David (Lavern) Willis, and Duane (Rosetta) Willis, all of Cannon, KY; two daughters, Anna Katherine(Ron) Madden, Gray Hawk, KY and Fayetta (Terry) Johnson, Cannon, KY; grandchildren, Darlinda Flatt, Sherie Caudill, Robin Parrott, Tonia Fisher, Vanessa Dudgeon, Rebecca Willis, Charles Willis, David Willis, Rhonda Thompson, Tabitha Burdine, Candy Knuckles, Tad Willis, Jonathan Madden and Michael Willis; 22 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Ethel Willis, Cannon, KY; and very dear friends, Billy and Lori Smith.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at the Sinking Valley Baptist Church with Rev, DeWayne Smith and Rev. Johnny Fisher officiating.
Interment
was in the Willis Cemetery in Cannon.

Clearcy Jewell Conner, 99, Jamestown, KY passed away Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a homemaker.
She was the daughter of the late James and Winnie Gossett Conner.
She is survived by three sons, Billy J.(Lola) Conner,and Norman Conner, both of Jamestown, KY and Buford (Lana) Conner, Indianapolis, IN; one daughter, Patsy (Joey) Garrett), Franklin, IN; eight grandchildren and four step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one son, Murrell Conner.
Funeral services were Monday, January 27, 2003 with Bro. J.L. Skaggs officiating.

Adron E. Smith
Adron E. Smith, 88, of Patty Ridge Rd. Dunnvile, KY, husband of Dortha McQueary Smith, passed away Wednesday morning at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY. He was a farmer and a member of Beckham Ridge Separate Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Oliver and Effie Stephens Smith.
He is survived by three sons, Ray Smith and Edward Smith, both of Russell Springs, KY, and Don Smith, Jamestown, KY; and one daughter, Wilma Faye Steege, Bloomington, KY; two brothers Burval Smith and Harley Smith, both of Russell Springs, KY; two half brothers, Johnny McGowan and J.R. McGowan; and two half sisters, Artie Sullivan and Gail Wood, all of Russell Springs, KY; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, January 24. 2003 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Garnett Hammond and Bro. Jeff Montgomery officiating.
Calvin C. Piercy
Calvin C. Piercy, 77, Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at his home after a short illness. He was retired from Day & Day Feed Mill in Columbia and a farmer. He was also a member of the Plum Point Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Compton Piercy, Columbia, KY; one brother, Nolan Piercy, Campbellsville, KY; three step-sons, Stevie Flatt and Dennie Flatt, both of Russell Springs, KY and Homer Veach, Jr., Campbellsville, KY; five step-daughters, Judy Blair, Barbara Bloyd and Shiela Hicks, all of Russell Springs, Patsy Hadley, Jamestown, KY, and Tara Underwood, Campbellsville, KY; twelve step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Avery, Ancil, Cassius, Walker and Oval “Peck” Piercy and four sisters, Lida Turner, Frances Grant, Hallie Helm, and Myrtle Kemp.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 10, 2003 in the chapel of the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Clark officiating.

Martha Hadley, 88, Columbia, KY, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of free Union Separate Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hadley is survived by three sons, Wendell (Brenda) Hadley, Winston (Judy) Hadley, and Kermit (Barbara) Hadley, all of Columbia, KY; four daughters, Geraldine (Richard) Baldwin, Columbia, KY, Willodean (Jim) Gurnow, Carol ( James) Young, both of Shepherdsville, KY, and Connie (Colby) Smith, Milltown, KY; two sister-in-laws, Betty Hadley, Columbia, KY and Ruby Coomer, Indiana; and 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Terry and Rodney Hadley; and three sisters, Pearl Rooks, Ruthie Rooks and Rettie McGaha.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 8 at the Free Union Separate Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Goff officiating.

was in the Free Union Cemetery.

Edward Ray Dick
Edward Ray Dick, 83, Russell Springs, KY passed away Saturday, April 12, 2003. He was a farmer and served in WWII.
He was the son of John Will and Sarah Emaline Dick, both of whom preceded him in death. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Scella Dick and a son, Darrell Dick.
Survivors include two sons, Royce (Arlene) Dick and Jimmy (Doris) Dick, both of Russell Springs, KY; two daughters, Georgene (Keith) Hart, Russell Springs, KY and Shiela Dick, Venice, FL; one sister, Pearl (Roe) Emerson, Jamestown, KY; ten grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Durella York also survive.
Funeral services were Monday, April 14, 2003 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Edward Bradley officiating. Special music was provided by the grandchildren.
Interment
was in the Wilkerson Cemetery.

Kenneth L. Hadley, 76, Rusell Springs, KY passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at his residence. He was a building contractor, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the Russell Springs First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rosella Hadley, Russell Springs, KY; one daughter, Vickie Lynne (Calvin) Davis, Jr., Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Cordell (Betty) Hadley, Louisville, KY; one granddaughter, Mary Angela (Timothy) Ellis, Bowling Green, KY; three great grandsons, Timothy James Ellis, Hadley Davis Ellis, and Samuel Hastings Ellis; one uncle, Allen Grider, Louisville, KY.
Funeral services were Friday, April 11, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Eaton, Bro. John C. Wilson, Bro. Cleveland Johnson and Dr. Drewery Meece officiating. Special music was provided by Chaplain Lt. Col. O’Neal Wade and JoNell Smith.
