Pearl M. Emerson
Pearl M. Emerson, 86, Russell Springs, KY passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Eden United Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roe Emerson and two sons, Roy (Carol) Emerson, Anchorage, Alaska and James (Dorothy) Emerson, Mt. Juliet, TN; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son,Dewey Emerson and a daughter, Louise Bradshaw.
Funeral services were Friday, May 9, 2003 in the chapel of Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Herald Wright officiating.
Special music was provided by Glen and Willodean Richardson.
Interment
was in the Wilkerson Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Blakey, Ronald Robertson, Darry Flatt, Zenba Harris, Jimmy Dick, and Royce Dick.

Elvis Earl Tucker
Elvis Earl Tucker, 93, of the Eli Community of Russell County, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the Liberty Care Center. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include four sons, Rev. Elvis Tucker, Glen Tucker, Chester Tucker, and Leslie Tucker, all of Russell Springs; six daughters, Remona Whittle, Exetta Wilson, Golda Hinkle and Joyce Luttrell, all of Russell Springs, KY, Clora Luttrell, Liberty, KY and Mary Richardson, Lexington, KY; also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sons, Lester B., Liston, Arvester, and Sylvester Tucker; two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were Saturday, MAy 10, 2003 with Rev. Richie Curtis officiating.
Special music was provided by Doyle and Brenda Wilson and Wanda Curtis.
Interment
was in the Hugh Frank Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mark Hinkle, Billy Tucker, Chris Tucker, Ronnie Whittle, Neil Luttrell, Michael Hopper, Marcus Tucker and Robby Tucker.

Dallie E. Hadley
Dallie E. Hadley, 62, Jamestown, KY passed away Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY.She was retired from Fruit of the Loom.
She is survived by one son, Jim(Jan) Hadley, Somerset, KY; one daughter, Ruby Gail (Clyde) Kean, Jamestown, KY; five grandchildren, Brian Antle, Lisa Hadley, Bethany Hadley Trenton Harvey, and Jacob Harvey; and a special friend, Hiram Wooldridge.
She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Wayne Hadley.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 13, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Dunbar officiating.
Special music was provided by Bobby Dunbar.
Interment
was in the Hadley Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Gene Gosser and employees and staff at Majestic Yachts.

C. L. Thomas
C.L. Thomas of Pell City, Alabama passed away April 26, 2003 and burial was on April 29, 2003 in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL.
Mr. Thomas was a native of Russell County, the son of Claude and Ocie Thomas and was married to Elsie Evans.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Earl and Ronald Thomas.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing, his wife, Elsie; one son, Jimmy Thomas; two daughters, Sherry Hammett and Sandy Thomas; one brother, Owen Thomas, Russell Springs KY; two sisters, Fay Wade, Russell Springs, KY and Joyce Bunch, West Chester, OH.
Mr. Thomas was retired from Sears in Birningham where he worked as a service repairman for thirty seven years. He will be missed by all his family and a host of friends and neighbors. Mr. Thomas was 73 years old.
Juanita Meece York
Juanita Meece York, 60, Russell Springs, KY, passed away Sunday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Windsor First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Verlman York, Russell Springs, KY; three daughters, Joyce Ann (Jeff) Mondie, Modella Paulina (Mark) Bernard and Margaret (Billy) Cook, all of Russell Springs, KY; her mother-in-law, Durella Turner York, Russell Springs,KY; three brothers, Hyman Luke (Betty) Meece, Decatur, IL, Garry Allen (Sandy) Meece, Shelbyville, IN and Selby Neil Meece, Dunnville, KY; two sisters, Wanda (Junior) Luttrell, Russell Springs, KY and Dinah Rose (Gene) Moore, Indianapolis, IN; also surviving is one grandson, Mark Patrick Bernard and one granddaughter, Brandi Arietta Bernard. and Baby Cook due in August.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 7, 2003 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Morris officiating.
Interment
was in the Wilkerson Cemetery.

R.V. Wilson, 79, Radcliff, KY, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. He was a retired carpenter and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, Glendale (Judy) Wilson, Radcliffe, KY; one sister, Lillian Grider, Russell Springs, KY; one grandson, Dale (Trish) Wilson, Glendale, KY; one great granddaughter, Kristen Wilson, Radcliffe, KY; and one niece and nephew also survive.
Funeral services were Friday, May 2, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Cleveland Johnson officiating.

was in the Clear Springs Cemetery.

Pearlie Lawless
Pearlie Lawless, 85, Jamestown, passed away Thursday, May 15 at the Russell County Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 18, 1918 to the late, Cyrus Kean and Myrtie (Helm) Keen.
She is survived by two sons: David Lawless and Darnell Lawless, both of Jamestown; two daughters: Tootie Wesley and Kay Carnes both of Jamestown; five brothers: Marion Kean, IN; Paul Kean, Jamestown; Billy Kean, Elizabethtown; Bobby Kean, IN; Bruce Kean, IN and one sister, Vinna L. Higginbotham, Franklin, KY.
She is also survived by two special friends, Joan Nunn and Ginny Morris. Five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Avery Lawless and one grandson, Ricky L. Lawless.
Graveside services were held at the Jamestown Cemetery on Friday, May 16 with Bro. Mark Lawless officiating.
The family wishes that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of a donation to Battlefield Baptist Church.
Darrell Wayne
Darrell Wayne Absher, age 18 of Polston Town Road, Russell Springs died May 15 at his home.
He was the son of the late A.R. Absher and Collene Baird of Russell Springs.
He is also survived by two sisters, Rebecca Yates of Russell Springs and Melinda Burton of Columbia along with his maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Oveline and Loyd Worley of Russell Springs and his fiance`, Honesty Beard of Russell Springs.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Grady Polston.
Graveside services were Saturday at 11 a.m. at Square Oak Cemetery, with Bro. Jeff Aaron officiating. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lena Pearl Wells, 73, of Noblesville, IN, formerly of Russell County passed away Thursday, May 15 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Hobert Wells of Noblesville, IN, one son, Rober (Nancy) Wells of Noblesville, IN, two daughters, Joyce (Joe) Pierce, Jamestown, KY and Judy (Wayne) Pierce of Noblesville, IN. Six grandchildren: Jennifer and Jason Wells, Troy, Gary, Timmy and Tracy Pierce, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Mildren McKnight and four brothers: Elmer, Hobert, Joe and Roy Murray.
She was a retired employee of Brockway Glass in Lapel after 34 years.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Wendall Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Jamestown Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Troy Pierce, Gary Pierce, Tim Pierce, Tracy Pierce, Jason Wells and Jennifer Wells.
Stella Dix
Stella Dix, 84, of Crocus Rd., in Jamestown passed away on Monday, May 19 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.
She is survived by her husband, John Dix of Jamestown, two sons, Richard and Douglas Dix both of Jamestown, three daughters, Patricia Hill of Jamestown, Carol Joan Dix, of Lucenda Heights, CA and Brenda Sharon Mondie of Liberty. 58 grandchildren and great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren also survive. She is also survived by one sister, Nevada Breeding of Westland, MI. She was a retired school custodian and a member of the Cold Springs Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral services are today at the Cold Springs Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Roger Price officiating. Burial is in the Cold Springs Cemetary.

Barbara Ann Wilson
Barbara Ann Wilson, 59, of Tucker Ridge in Russell Springs passed away Sunday, May 18 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.
She is survived by one son, Ritchie (Rosalie) Wilson and two daughters, Lisa Popplewell and Kimberly (Mike) Hammond all of Russell Springs. Two brothers, Larry Tucker and Ricky Tucker both of Russell Springs also survive.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wilson, Jr., her father, Avery Tucker and her mother, Virginia Popplewell Tucker.
She was a retired professional counselor and a member of the Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richie Curtis and Bro. Elvis Tucker officiating. Burial was in the Holt Cemetary. Owen Welby Lawless
Owen Welby Lawless, 90, Fair Oaks Nursing Home Jamestown passed away Monday, April 28, 2003 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was a retired construction worker and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII.
Survivors include one son, Bobby (Phyllis) Lawless, Jamestown, KY and one daughter, Virginia (Arnett) Irvin, Russell Springs, KY; three sisters, Callie Anderson, Jamestown, KY, Eunice Tallent, Albany, KY, and Pauline Jones, Monticello, KY; nine grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 1, 2003 in the chapel of Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Jesse Jewell officiating.
Interment
was in the Jamestown Cemetery.

Eva Downs, 89 Russell Springs, KY passed away Thursday, April 30, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She retired from 700 WLW in Cincinnati and worked in the television industry as well.
She is survived by two sons, Dave Downs, Ossian, IN and Jessie Downs, Salyersville, KY; one sister, Lillie Tucker, Stearns, KY ; and 16 grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were Monday, May 5, 2003 with Bro. Carroll Egnew officiating.
