Michael Edward Picillo
Michael Edward Picillo, 86, a dispatcher for XTRA Corporation with the Boston & Maine Railroad, where he worked for 20 years, died Sunday, January 20, 2002 at Beverly Hospital in Beverly, MA after a long illness. Mr. Picillo lived in Danvers, MA for last 31 years and was previously from Malden and E. Boston.
Mr. Picillo was born and educated in East Boston. Mike entered the US Army on Nov. 18, 1943 and served with 1st. Battalion Co B 28th. Infantry Division serving in the European Theater with the Military Police. He was discharged on Oct.18, 1945 at the rank of Sergeant.
He worked for XTRA Corp. of the Boston & Maine Railroad for 24 years and retired in 1976. Mike, and his lifelong friend Al Rocci were ushers with the Boston Braves and the Boston Red Sox from 1942-1970; they also ushered for the first Boston Patriots Team. Ushering behind the Red Sox dugout, Mike was an avid sports fan who loved the Red Sox and spent fifty years of his vacations going to spring training. Mike was a longtime member and bartender with the Medford & Malden Moose where he organized fundraisers for the Jimmy Fund with his friends on the Red Sox ball teams through the years. From 1977-1985 he worked at the former Henry's Restaurant and for the Henry Dorazio's Catering in Malden.
He is survived by his devoted daughters, Sandra J. Miller and her husband Paul of Danvers, Marguerite A. Gonsalves of Melrose and her loving companion Ralph Scibelli, and Pamela J. Hirtle of Melrose and her loving companion Peter Levine, his devoted sister Catherine Castagna of Revere, his granddaughters, Melissa Miller of Danvers, Angela & Nicole Hirtle of Melrose, his grandson Michael Miller of Danvers and his great-granddaughter Jayden Lapointe. Godfather of Charlene Petrilli of Malden and Francis O'Brien of N.J. Mr. Picillo is survived by many loving in-laws, Doris & Dom DiGiammarino and Catherine Cerrone all of Wakefield and Ralph Muollo of Everett, cousins, nieces, nephews and his life long friends Al and Josephine Rocci of Medford.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carmela (Lumia), his father Achilles Picillo, his mother Saveria (DiDonato), his sister Mildred Lumia, and his brother Henry Picillo and his son in-law Henry Gonsalves.
He was born February 27, 1916 in East Boston, and was the son of late Achilles and Saveria (DiDonato) Picillo.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden, on Tuesday, from and 2-8 PM.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Richard's Church, Forest St., Danvers, on Wednesday, Jan. 23rd. at 10AM. Pastor Bruce G. Flannagan of St. Richard's Church will be the celebrate.
Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

Francis James Pike
Francis James Pike, 79, a retired machinist , died Saturday, December 23, 2000 at Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford, Massachusetts. He was born in East Boston and educated in Somerville schools graduating from Somerville High School with the Class of 1939. When WW II broke out he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941 serving in Central Europe during the war. After his discharge in 1946 he attended North Eastern University in Boson studying engineering. He then went to work for the Boston Naval Shipyard where he was employed as a machinist for over 35 years until it's closing. He then went to work for the Revere Sugar Company in Charlestown as a security guard for ten years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Malden, the Knights of Columbus Tewksbury-Wilmington Lodge, a Life Member of the VFW Post 529 of Somerville and the Somerville Elks. Mr. Pike lived in Malden, Massachusetts for 30 Years and was previously from Somerville.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude P. Pike of Malden, his brother, Charles A. Pike of Somerville, his brother & sister in-law Donald & Ann Feltch of Somerville and several nieces and nephews.
He was born December 5, 1921 in East Boston, Massachusetts the son of the late Maxwell and Elizabeth (Walsh) Pike. He served in the Army during World War II having attained the rank of Pvt. enlisted on January 6, 1942 at Boston, MA discharged on September 24, 1946 at Fort Leavenworth, KA
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden, MA. on Tuesday Dec. 26th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM
Funeral services will be from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Wednesday, Dec. 27,th at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church 770 Salem St. at 10:00 with the Rev. John A. Daly, Pastor of St. Joseph Church officiating. Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.

Margaret "Peggy" Katherine Pike
Margaret Katherine Pike, 91, a longtime resident of Malden, MA, died Thursday, December 09, 2004 at Fountain Wood in Orangevale, California. Margaret was born and educated in Woburn. When she graduated from high school she went to work for Filene's Department Store in Boston as a clerk. It was there that she met her husband the late Geoorge E. Pike. After their marriage they settled in Malden in 1940. She was a member of The First Church in Malden, Congregational, Malden Old & New, The Heritage Women's Club Malden YMCA, Malden Art Guild and a Life Member of both the Ladies Aid Association of the Malden Hospital and the Appalachian Mountain Club.
She is survived by her son Charles and his wife Alma Jean Pike of CA, and her grandchildren, Christopher Pike and Russell T. Pike of CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband George E. Pike, her parents, Owen and Ada (Stevenson) Woods, her sister Ada C. Henricksen, her brother William J. Woods, and her sister Eleanor Montgomery.
In Malden, MA, A memorial Service will be held on Friday, Dec 17th, at The First Church of Malden, Congregational, 184 Pleasant Street, Malden, Rev. Randall P. Ferrara of The First will be officiating.
In California, A memorial Service will be held at 10AM on Wed, Dec 29th, at the Fountain Wood Senior Residence Center, 8773 Oak Ave, Orangevale.

Mary Catherine Pirkey
Mary C. (Campanella) Pirkey, 43, a secretary for Mass General Hospital, where she worked for over 16 years, died Wednesday, June 26th in Everett, MA. Mrs. Pirkey had lived in Revere for the last 12 years and was previously from Everett. She was born September 24, 1958 in Malden, the daughter of Henry and Sarah (DeNatile) Campanella. Mary was raised in Everett, graduating from Everett H.S., with the class of 1976. She then spent two years in dental school. Around 1986, Mary accepted a secretCourier position at Massachusetts General Hospital, In 1989 she married her husband Micheal W. Pirkey in her home parish, St. Anthony's Church in Everett, and the two shared the next 13 years together.
She is survived by her husband Michael W. Pirkey of Revere, her parents Henry & Sarah Campanella (De Natle) of Everett, her brother, Thomas Campanella of Wakefield, her sister Theresa Fiore of Everett, and her brother Anthony Campanella of Virginia. She was the aunt of Nichole, Renee, Gina, John, Carissa, Scott, James, Katy and Nicholas.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden, on Sunday, from 4-8 PM.
Contributions in Mary's memory maybe made to the Hallmark Health Hospice 100 Hospital Road, Malden, MA 02148.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony's Church, 38 Oakes St. Everett on Monday, July 1, 2002 at 9:00 A.M. Rev. Camillo Lando C.S. will the celebrant. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Michael Thomas Placido
Michael Thomas Placido, 27, died, suddenly, Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, MA. Mike was born and educated in Malden. When he completed school he was employed in the construction industry as a laborer until going to work as a paver for East Coast Paving. Mr. Placido was a lifelong resident of Malden, MA.
He is survived by his mother, Diane C. (Hynes) Placido of Malden and his brother, Andrew P. Placido of Malden.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles A. Placido.
He was born January 22, 1977 in Malden, MA. son of Charles and Diane (Hynes) Placido.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, MA on Tuesday Dec. 7th from 2-4 PM
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Theodore Walter Polonski
Theodore Walter Polonski, 75, a retired cab driver for the Malden Taxi, where he had worked for 30 years, died Thursday, March 22, 2001 at Quigley Memorial Hospital at the Chelsea Soldiers Home, Chelsea, MA. Mr. Polonski was a life long resident of Malden.
Mr. Polonski was born in Providence, RI and was educated in the west end of Boston and moved to Malden when he was 21 years old. Mr. Polonski was a Signalman Second Class with the U.S. Navy in WW II. Ted served on a navy destroyer, the USS John C. Butler who's task force fought the Japanese Battleship Yamamoto at the battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippine Islands.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Polonski, 3 sons, John T. and his wife Charlene Polonski of Lynn, Joseph W. & Teddy G. and his wife Dolly Polonski all of Malden and Sandra E. Webb of Andover, brother of Frances Duggan of Billerica, Helen Rodden of OK, Joseph Polonski of Milton. He was also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Walter Polonski, his mother Tekla Noga, and his sister Alice Fugozzotto formerly of Billerica.
He was born July 30, 1925 in Providence, RI, the son of the late Walter and Tekla (Noga) Polonski.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 27th. at 10AM, at St. Michael's Chapel of the Chelsea Soldiers Home, Chelsea. Father Moran of St. Rose's Church, Chelsea will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Deanne Jean Porter
Deanne J. (Gianelly) Porter, 38, died suddenly on August 4, 2005 at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. Born on October 11, 1966 in Malden, she was the daughter of Richard J. and Suzanne T. (Burnett) Gianelly. After her family moved to Andover while she was in junior high school, Deanne graduated from Andover High with the Class of 1984. She was a member of the Andover High Girl's Soccer team and held a job with the Market Basket Co. as a grocery clerk. After 19 years with the company, Deanne was still working with them. She was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with her family. Deanne lived in Lowell, MA for the past three years and was previously from Andover and Malden.
She is survived by her husband Joel S. Porter of Lowell, her children, Gabrielle R. and Hunter S. Porter, both of Lowell, her parents, Richard J. and Suzanne T. Gianelly of Andover, her father and mother in law, David and Ida Porter of Melrose, her brother, Richard P. Gianelly of Manchester, NH and Suzanne J. Rivard of Andover. Granddaughter of Carmella Gianelly of Malden, and Clara Porter of Medford. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Monday, August 8, 2005 at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex St. Andover at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, August 7, 2005 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Doris Mae (Mann) Porter
Doris Mae (Mann) Porter, a resident of Palmyra, ME, formerly of Saugus and Malden, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 in Malden after a brief illness. Mrs. Porter was born in Stoneham, the daughter of Clyde O. and Alverta A. (Wile) Mann, and attended schools in Malden, graduating from Malden High School with the Class of 1955. She also attended Bentley College and Andover Newton Theological School. During her career, Mrs. Porter worked as a personnel director for Market Forge in Everett, a purchasing agent for La Touraine Coffee, and a field representative for the IUE. Over the years, she also started two businesses to market her handmade dolls.
Mrs. Porter was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Malden, having served on the Diaconate, chaired the Board of Christian Education and Music Committee, taught Sunday school, formed and directed two children's choirs, assisted with a youth handbell choir, sang in the Sanctuary Choir and played in an adult handbell choir, led the women's Group "Q". She also served a three-year-term as President of the American Baptist Women's Ministries of Massachusetts.
Mrs. Porter enjoyed music, oil painting, sewing, crocheting and crafts of all kinds.
Survivors include her sons William S. Frye and his wife Susan, of Jonesport, ME, and Robert J. Frye and his wife Cheryl of Revere; her sister Shirley M. Mudge of Malden and brother Roger C. Mann of Chelmsford; her grandchildren James Frye of Jonesport, ME; Franklin Perry of Saugus; Jason, David and Kevin Frye of Revere; a special niece and nephew, Ruth and Charles Schramm of Chelmsford; as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, Doris is survived by her lifelong friends Trudy Sadeghpour of Lexington and Ann Sullivan of New Vineyard, ME; and her closest friend and recent primary care giver, the Rev. Martha Dominy of Malden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Kari Ann Frye, and her sister Lorraine A. Mann.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Thursday, July 15 from 4-8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 16, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church, corner of Main and Salem Streets in Malden. Rev. Martha A. Dominy, Pastor of First Baptist will be officiating. A collation will be held at the church following the service, and a procession to Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford will leave the church at 1:15 p.m. for committal service at 2:00 p.m.

Cheryl Rene Potochniak
Cheryl Rene (Brown) Potochniak, 34, died suddenly, by accident, Saturday, July 31, 2004 on Little Sebago Lake in Gray, Maine when the jet ski that she was a passenger on was struck by a boat. Cheryl was born and educated in Framingham graduating high school with the Class of 1988. When she completed high school she married and moved to Whitinsville, Ma where she resided until moving to North Conway, NH four years ago. Mrs. Potochniak lived in North Conway, New Hampshire for the past four years and was previously from Whitinsville and Framingham.
She is survived by her husband Patrick O. Potochniak of North Conway, NH, her son, Jacob Potochniak of North Conway, her mother, Rosemary Brown of Framingham, her father Frederic and step-mother Shelia Brown of FL,, and her sister, Gail E. Bellefontaine of Malden.
She was born March 15, 1970 in Framingham, Massachusetts the daughter of Frederic and Rosemary (Johnson) Brown.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, MA on Thursday from 5-9 PM.

Janet Powers
Janet (Gaddes) Powers, 84, a retired clerk for the John Hancock Insurance Co. of Boston, where she worked for 15 years, died Wednesday afternoon, January 29, 2003 at Mc Fadden Memorial Manor in Malden, MA.
Mrs. Powers was born in Everett and lived most of her life in Malden. Mrs. Powers loved to spend her leisure time reading a good romance novel. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail E. Forrest and her husband Richard, Cheryl A. Hickey and her husband Joseph all of Malden and her two sisters Elizabeth Bennett of Malden and Joan Kilroy of CA. She is also survived by five grandchildren & nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father John A. Gaddes, her mother Euphemia Grundy, her sons Ronald Powers & Denis Powers, and four sisters and one brother.
She was born May 4, 1918 in Everett, MA the daughter of late John and Euphemia (Grundy) Gaddes.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9PM.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. in the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Hancock of Forest Dale Community Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.

Bessie A. Powers
Bessie A. Powers, 98, died Tuesday evening, April 27, 2004 at the Annemark Nursing Home in North Revere, MA Bessie was born and educated in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada and came to the United States in 1920. She's been a resident of Malden for the last eighty-one years and was a bank clerk with the former Workingman's Cooperative Bank in Boston and retired in 1970 after thirty years of service. She was a longtime active member of the Center United Methodist Church in Malden and was a member of the Rebecca Lodge #99 Malden and the Malden Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her father the late Charles W. Powers, and her mother Martha A. (Joudrey) Powers.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 1:45 P.M. in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Rev. James Cox of Centre United Methodist Church will be officiating.

Josephine Pratt
Josephine Pratt, 84, died suddenly Monday, August 27, 2001 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, MA
Mrs. Pratt was born and educated in Malden and graduated with the Class of 1936. She was a former member of Medford Moose Club. She was known as a wonderful cook and always had a meal for anyone visiting her at home. She was a life long resident of Malden before moving to the Sunbridge of Wilmington an assisted living facility.
She is survived by her sons, John W. Collins of CA, Paul R. Collins of Cambridge, MA, and Michael B. Collins of Malden, her sister, Ethel Dow of Melrose, MA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward W. Pratt, and 5 siblings.
She was born March 29, 1917 in Malden, MA the daughter of the late Sosio and Josephine (Mastrangelo) Rinaldi.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home 144 Salem St. Malden on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM

Dorothy Louise Preston
Dorothy Louise Preston, 70, homemaker for, died Friday, June 28, 2002 in Humarock, Massachusetts. She was born November 06, 1931 in Malden, the daughter of James and Charlotte (O'Connor) Preston. Dorothy was then raised in Malden, attending the Malden School system. She grew up as a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Malden. She was very dedicated to her family , and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Michael E. Berlan of Humarock, her daughters, Deborah A. Cataldo of Stoneham, Denise S. Bowen of Malden, her brother Bruce Preston of CA, and her sisters Marjorie Mini of FLA and Beverly Mhoon of Malden She is also survived by her grandchildren, Renee Riddell of Lawrence, Angela Berlan of Medford, Richard Bowen of Malden, and Gina & Nicole Cataldo, both of Stoneham, and her great grandchildren of Kaylee Cataldo-Perry, and Mikalyn & Nathan Riddell.
She was preceded in death by her father James Preston, and her mother Charlotte O'Connor.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Monday, July 1st from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home. Rev. James W. Knowles of Malden will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.

Albert Edward Pulsifer
Albert Edward Pulsifer, 72, a retired accountant for Cahners Publishing Co, where he worked for years, died Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Oak Hill Hospital in Springhill, Florida. He was born December 27, 1928 in Melrose, the son of Albert E. and Sarah (Donnelly) Pulsifer Jr., and attended St. Mary's Grade school growing up. He completed his primary education at Regiopolis in Canada, before attending and attaining a degree in Accounting at Suffolk University.
In I950 he enlisted in the Army, and served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He reached the rank of SGT before completing his enlistment, and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and the National Defense Service Medal.
After his discharge, he settled in the Malden Area. He attended St. Josephs Church, and went to work for Cahners Publishing Co. He held a variety of positions there, including Purchasing Agent & Communications Manager, before retiring as an Accountant in 1991. He was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed gardening and bowling.
He was a past member of the Woburn Elks, the Arlington Mens Club, and the American Legion Post 115, Stoneham. Mr. Pulsifer lived in Malden for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife Jean A. (Lo Conte) , his sons Richard J. Pulsifer of Malden, Stephen E. Pulsifer and his wife Liza of N. Hampton, and John A. Pulsifer of Dallas TX. He is also survived by hes brother Frederick Pulsifer of Melrose, his sister Jean Mooney of NC, and grandchildren Michael Pulsifer & Grace Pulsifer of N. Hampton.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 - 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 14, 2001 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church. Rev. John A. Daley, Pastor of St. Joseph's Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
