Richard Victor Smith
Richard Victor Smith, 72, a retired machinist died Friday, September 15, 2000 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, MA. Richard was born in Bangor, ME and when WWII broke out, while he was in high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. When he was discharged he returned to Bangor, ME and completed his schooling. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for six years. When he was discharged he moved to Malden, MA where he was employed at National Radio of Melrose as a machinist until it's closing. He then went to work for the E.G.& G. Electronics Co. of Wakefield until his retirement in1990. He attended the First Baptist Church of Malden and was a member of Converse Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Malden, Wyoming Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Melrose, Alleppo Temple Shrine of Wilmington of Wilmington and the D.A.V. Melrose Chapter 120. Mr. Smith lived in Melrose, Massachusetts for twenty years and previously had lived in Malden for thirty years.
He is survived by his wife Grace C. (Cushing) Smith of Melrose, his son, Lloyd R. Smith of Melrose, his Daughter in-law, Michelle M. Smith of Melrose, his grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Smith of Melrose, Madison Jill Smith of Melrose and Jared Richard Smith of Melrose, his sisters, Glenis Bell of ME and Joanne Robertucci of CT.
He was born January 29, 1928 in Bangor, Maine the son of the late Victor and Mildred (Nichols) Smith.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Monday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept.18th, at 10:00 A.M. at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden with the Rev. Martha A. Dominy of the First Baptist Church of Malden officiating. Burial will follow in the Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
Anne Smith
Anne Smith, 55, of Malden, died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. Anne was born and raised in Coom Dunmanway, County Cork, Ireland, one of fourteen children. At the age of 20, she came to the United States where she met and married Edison Smith. The two would settle in Malden and raise their family there. Anne was an avid gardener, and enjoyed tending to her flowers and shrubberies.
She is survived by her husband, Edison Smith of Malden, her sons, Wayne and his wife Julie Smith of Walpole, and Gregory Smith of NM, her sister Shelia Lordan Cummings of Milton, her siblings John, Tim, David, Denis, Michael, Margaret, Sharon, and Jane, all of Ireland, James, Maureen and Catherine, all of England, and Billy of San Francisco. She is also survived by her granddaughter Madelyn Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Lordan.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Tuesday, November 23, from 5 - 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2004 from the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Hearts Parish, 297 Main Street, Malden. Father John F. Mulloy will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
Henry Smolinsky
Henry Smolinsky, 82, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at the Dexter House Nursing Home in Malden. Henry was born in Glauchau, Germany and came to the United States at the age of four with his parents. They resided initially in Manchester, NH before settling in Boston. When he graduated from high school he enlisted in the U. S.Army in January of 1941 serving with Troop "C' of the 121st Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe until his discharge in October of 1945. He then served with the National Guard at Fort Devens Mass for over ten years. He and his family resided in North Reading for nine years before settling in Malden forty-five years ago. He was employed as a chef at Durgin Park in Boston for over thirty years until his retirement in 1985 and his picture is still displayed on the walls at the restaurant. He was a member of the 120 Club of Malden and had served as it's vice president. Mr. Smolinsky lived in Malden, MA for the past forty-five years.
He is survived by his wife Lorna G. (Mac Donald) Smolinsky of Malden, his daughters, Mary I. Staples of N. Reading, Patricia A. Fielding of North Reading and Joan Smolinsky of Chelsea, his son, James H. Smolinsky of FL, his sister, Lisbeth Smith of Stoneham, his grandchildren Melissa Kelli, Ryan and Andrea Staples, Tracey and Julie Fielding, James and Amanda Smolinsky and his great grandson Jonathan Staples.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert Smolinsky and Rudy Dalibor both formerly of Jamaica Plain.
He was born November 3, 1919 in Glauchau, Germany, the son of the late Peter and Hedwig (Pinther) Smolinsky.

Barbara Jane Snook
Barbara Jane Snook, 55, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at Epoch Senior Care Center in Melrose, Massachusetts. Barbara was born and raised in Malden, graduating from Malden High School with the Class of 1967. She worked as a waitess in Malden and then in Maine when she moved there in the early 80's. While in Maine, she opened her own donut shop, BJ's Donuts in Ellsworth, Maine. She operated the business for many years until her recent retirement. Although she kept busy with many things, her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving companion Joseph Gauthier, her son, Scott M. Snook and his wife Sue,her sisters, Nancy Sumares and Beverly Camelio, and her grandchildren, Bayleigh and Skyelar Snook.
She was born August 22, 1949 in Malden, Massachusetts the daughter of Leonard and Norma (Aldenberg) Snook.
A time of visitaton and reflection will be held at the Weir Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Monday, Sept 20th, from 6 - 8 PM.

Robert Frank Solari
Robert Frank Solari, 80, longtime resident of Malden, died Monday, March 22, 2004 at Kindred Hospital in Peabody. Robert was born in the North End of Boston. At an early age, he moved to Everett, where he was raised and educated, graduating from Everett High with the class of 1941, where he was the starting quarterback of the football team. He later went on to quarterback the team at the University of Massachusetts. .In 1943 he enlisted in the Navy to help fight in WWII. He served with the Motor Torpedo Goat Squadron 12 in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, and was discharged in 1946 having attained the rank of Quartermaster 2nd Class. In 1950, he married his sweetheart Dorothy M. Burden, and the two would share the next 54 years together. They settled in Malden in 1951, and have lived there since. Robert worked for many years as an auditor for US Customs at the Tip O'Neil building in Boston, until his retirement in 1998. During that time, he was also active with the Boston Federal Customs Credit Union, where he served as the President and Treasurer. He enjoyed playing golf, but was a man whose work was his life.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy M. (Burden) Solari of Malden, MA, his daughter Diane M. Solari of Everett, his son, Robert A. Solari of Malden, his brothers Arthur Solari of MI, and Norman Solari of Everett, his sisters Marie Crouse of Haverhill, and Elvira Baker of ME, and his grandchildren Jeremy D. Goldberg of Malden and Shaina M. Murray of Everett.
He was preceded in death by his father Giovanni Solari, his mother Maria Zuraschi, and his son Dale R. Solari.
Funeral arrangements will be private.
Edwin Arthur Solesky
Edwin Arthur Solesky, a longtime resident of Melrose, died Monday, March 7, 2005 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. Ed was born and raised in Chicago. After completing high school, he enlisted in the US Navy, and served during the Korean Conflict as an airplane engine mechanic for Fighter Squadron #63. His service brought him to the Boston area, where he met his future wife, Jennie M. Cusson. The two married in 1949 and shared the next 55 years together raising their family. Soon after his discharge, they settled in the Malden area where Ed worked as an auto mechanic with his wife's brothers. He worked at a few different shops including the Tremont Street Garage, in Melrose. Around 1959, the family moved to Texas, where Ed went to school and studied accounting. They lived in Texas for about 5 years and then returned to the Malden area. A few years later, Ed took employment with the US Postal Service. He worked for almost 25 years at the Logan Airport Post Office, until his retirement in 1992. In his younger days, Ed was an avid bowler, and participated in many local bowling leagues, including the post office league. He later picked up the game of golf, and pursued the game with much passion. Ed was also a member of the Malden German Club, until its closing. Mr. Solesky lived in Melrose for the past 34 years and he and his wife also enjoyed wintering in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie M. (Cusson) Solesky of Melrose, his sons, Donald M. Solesky of Manchester, NH, Michael C. Solesky of Malden, and Alan E. Solesky of Melrose, his daughter, Susan L. Solesky of Melrose, his brother Merrill Solesky of Texas, his sister Barbara Neal of Texas, as well as seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Solesky, his son Richard Solesky, and his daughter Diane Solesky.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Monday, March 14th, from 4 - 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, March 15, at 8AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. in St. Joseph's Church. Rev. William J. Minigan, Pastor of St. Joseph's Church will be the celebrant. Private burial will take place in Forest Dale Cemetery.
Amelia Sparrow
Amelia "AJ" Sparrow (Jackson) an Everett resident for 40 years, passed away quietly at her home on May 4th. Amelia was born and raised in Salem, one of eleven children. She graduated from Salem H.S. with the class of 1948. After moving to Malden, she began working for a short time at the Burns and Towns Filter Co. She then took employment with Transitron in Malden, where she first worked on the assembly line, and then in later years was an inspector. She worked with Transitron for almost 10 years, when she then became a lab technician for the Poloriod Company in Cambridge. She retired after working for Poloriod for about 20 years. Amelia enjoyed bowling, fishing, and walking her dog Ali. She was an avid basketball, and football fan, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by sons, Loney R. Sparrow Jr. of Malden, Frank L. Sparrow of Roxbury, and Dane B. Sparrow of Everett, her daughter Renee' M. Maxwell of Charlotte, NC, her sister Helen Murrell of Cambridge, her brothers Horatio Jackson of Newton, Howard Jackson of Lynn, as well as 6 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Christalia (Richardson) Jackson, her brothers Hubert, George, Charles, Ralph and Carl, and her sisters Elizabeth and Gloria.
Funeral services will be held privately, at the convenience of the family.
Anna Maria Sparrow
Anna M. (Torres) Sparrow died on December 26, 2005 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading, she was 53. Born in Melrose on February 16, 1952, she was the daughter of Ruth (Smith) Torres, Sr. and the late Angel Torres, Sr. Anna was raised in Malden and went to Malden High School, graduating with the Class of 1970. On July 1, 1971, she married her sweetheart, Loney R. Sparrow, Jr. in Lynnfield, MA. The couple spent over 30 years of marriage together. Anna went on to attend and graduate from Boston University's Certificate Program for Information Technology. She worked for John Hancock Insurance in Boston for over 30 years until her retirement in 2005. Anna loved sewing and indoor gardening. She also loved water and snow skiing as well as swimming and sailing. Anna was a life-long resident of Malden and was a communicant and active member of the First Baptist Church in Chelsea.
She is survived by her husband, Loney R. Sparrow, Jr. of Malden, her son, Kip A. Sparrow of Malden, her mother Ruth Torres, Sr. of Malden, her sisters Ruth Dent of Malden and Adelina Torres of Melrose, and her aunt, Ocie Smith of Malden as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Angel Torres, Sr., her sister, Candida Torres and her brother, Angel Torres, Jr.
Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church 185 Shurtliff St. Chelsea, MA on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 from 11 to 2 and 3 to7 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at the church at 7 PM. David Aponte, Pastor of the First Baptist Church will be officiating the services.
Family and friends are invited to meet at the First Baptist Church on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 9 AM to follow in procession to Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett for a committal service at 10 AM.

Barbara A. Spencer
Barbara A. Spencer,73, of Wilmington, formerly of Malden, died Monday, September 8, 2003 at the Lahey-Hitchcock Clinic in Burlington. Barbara was born and, raised in Malden, and had been educated in the Malden school system. She remained in the Malden area until 1960, when she moved to Wilmington, and had remained there until her recent passing. She retired from the Nature Foods health supplement company in 1992 after working for many years there. Barbara was true animal lover, and enjoyed her cats and birds, as well as contributing to her local humane society.
She is survived by her daughters Marilyn L. Swanson of Bradford, and Diane M. Hunt of Dracut, her 11 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Isabella (Clark) Keene, her daughter Pamela M. Fortunata, and her daughter Debra M. Keller.
Funeral services will be private.
Caroline Anastasia Spence
Caroline Anastasia (Kwiatek) Spencer, 99, died Sunday, May 12, 2002 at the Mc Fadden Memorial Manor in Malden, MA. Caroline was born and educated in Chelsea. Caroline, her parents and eight siblings survived the Great Fire of Chelsea in 1908 but lost their home and all of their possessions in the conflagration. After her marriage she moved to Everett where she resided for twenty-three years until settling in Malden in 1957.She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Malden. Mrs. Spencer lived in Malden for forty-five years and was previously from Everett and Chelsea. .
She is survived by her son, Albert O. Spencer, her daughters Carolyn J. Rachels and Barbara Mini, her sister Frances Kennan. seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert O. Spencer, her sisters Agnes Coulombe, Mary Hanson, Vera Deane, Anna Winsor and Josephine Moynihann and her brothers Andrew and Anthony Kwiatek.
She was born April 15, 1903 in Chelsea, MA the daughter of the late Andrew and Julia (Wajtowitz) Kwiatek.

Joseph Corrado Speranza
Joseph Corrado Speranza, 71, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the VA Hospital of West Roxbury in Boston, MA. Joseph was born in Boston and educated in Everett schools. When he finished school he married his wife Gloria Santangelo and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp to serve during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge he returned to Everett and went to Bentley College receiving his Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He then went to work for the Internal Revenue Service as an auditor and later became a defense contract auditor retiring in 1991. Since his retirement he has worked part time for Donahue Associates of Cambridge doing tax work. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Malden, the Disabled American Veteran's Post of Everett and the Scleroderma Foundation of Topsfield. Mr. Speranza lived in Malden, MA for the past forty years and was previously from Everett.
He is survived by his wife Gloria L. (Santangelo) Speranza of Malden, his mother Domenica (Fonzi) Speranza of Florida, his son, Joseph C. Speranza of Saugus, his daughter, Cheryl A. Coughlin of ME, his brother, Charles Speranza, his sisters; Rosemarie Howard and Jeanne Blackwood all of FL, and his grandchildren; Ryan, Gina & Laura Coughlin of ME, and Michael Speranza of Saugus.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Speranza.
He was born June 3, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts the son of Domenica (Fonzi) and the late Joseph Speranza.

Paul Gerald Spinazola
Paul Gerald Spinazola, 40, a computer consultant, died Tuesday, November 28, 2000 at the New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts after a brief illness Paul was born in Malden and educated in the grammar schools of Malden. He graduated with the Class of 1978 from Pope John High School in Everett and after graduation he continued his education at North Eastern University in Computer Sciences. He then began his own computer consulting business traveling around the country developing programs for different companies such as Honeywell, Fidelity and Genesis. He was a lifelong resident of Malden and was a member of St. Joseph's Parish of Malden, William Sutton Lodge AF & AM of Saugus and the Saugus Elks Lodge # 2100 of Saugus.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa (Lepore) Spinazola of Grafton, his son, Christopher G. Spinazola of Grafton, his father, Nicholas C. Spinazola of Malden, his mother, Nancy C. (George) Barbuto of Lynn, his stepfather, Anthony P. Barbuto of Lynn, his stepmother Marylyn A (Sisson) Spinazola of Malden and his sisters Christina Barbuto and Beth Ann Spinasola both of Lynn and several nieces and nephews.
He was born August 22, 1960 in Malden, Massachusetts the son of Nicholas and Nancy (George) Spinazola.

Dorothy Margaret Spinney
Dorothy M. (Metcalfe) Spinney, 74, died suddenly Thursday morning, December 2, 2004 at her home in Malden, MA Dot was born in Malden and settled in Allston with her parents at the age of two. She was educated in the Boston school system, and continued her education and training at the Cambridge City Nursing School, and became a registered nurse. Dot married the love of her life Edson W. Spinney on Dec. 1, 1951 in Allston and the couple settled in Malden where they were longtime members of the Maplewood Baptist Church, Malden.
Dot's thirty-two year career in the nursing industry, started at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett and continued in the New England Medical Center in Boston. Dot at one time, headed the District One of the NAACOG, a Nurses Association in Boston, through the New England Medical Center, she retired from nursing in 1992. With her slow loss of her vision, Dot filled her time with volunteer work at the Commission of the Blind and the Boston Ballet in Boston She and her husband Ed were members of the Lynn Yacht Club, where they both enjoyed sailing down the coast to the cape region.
Dot is survived by her son's Roger H. Spinney of Vineyard Haven, Edson "Ed" W. Spinney Jr. of North Reading, her cherished grandchildren, Christopher E., Heather L. and Ashley N. Spinney.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edson, her father Roger A. Metcalf, and her mother Gladys V. Fielding.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Friday from 7-9 PM only.

Thelma Louise Spinney
Thelma Louise Spinney, 63, who worked for many years as a nurses aide for various nursing homes around Malden, died Sunday, February 03, 2002 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. Thelma was born and raised in Charlestown, attending the Charlestown school system. She moved to Malden after high school, and remained there throughout her life. Thelma was an avid bingo player, and loved to travel. She also had a deep love of country music.
She is survived by her former husband Robert Spinney, her children, Robert L. Spinney Jr. of Malden, Wayne G. Spinney and his wife Brenda L. of Melrose, Joanne M. Spinney of E. Boston, Mark H. Spinney and his wife Candace A. of Texas, and Thelma L. Spinney of Malden. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Evers of Melrose, her sisters Alice Corcoran of Shirley and Maureen Wedge of Charlestown, her brother James Evers of Quincy, and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Alice (McCloud) Evers, her sister Evelyn Jones, and her brother Edward Evers.

Edward John Stelmack
Edward John Stelmack, 52, a disabled quadriplegic for the last four years, died Friday, February 9, 2001 at the Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbour, Florida. Edward was born in Chelsea, MA and had been a resident of Malden for 44 years. He was educated in the Malden School system and graduated for Malden Technical School. After high school he worked for General Electric in Lynn for 2 years. He was called to serve his country and enlisted in the U S Army serving in Vietnam with the 335th Trans Co. and the 11th. Infantry which had served between the years of 1967-1971. He was a Purple Heart recipient for his wounds in the war. After his discharge he returned to GE in Lynn and worked a total of 18 years as a jet engine assembler. Edward had been a resident of New Port Richey, FL for the last 7 years.
He is survived by his wife Betty (Callahan) Stelmack, his father Edward Stelmack of Malden, his brother Richard J. Stelmack and his wife Sue Ann of Stoneham, MA His aunt Rose Testa of Peabody, MA, his niece Adrianne Stelmack and nephew Michael Stelmack of Stoneham, MA.
He was preceded in death by his mother Josephine (Guisto) Stelmack.
He was born February 20, 1948 in Chelsea, MA the son of Edward and the late Josephine (Guisto) Stelmack. He served in the Army during Vietnam Era having attained the rank of PFC. He enlisted on June 13, 1968 at Boston, MA discharged on January 14, 1970 at Boston, MA.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Tuesday from 5-8 PM.
