Patricia Ann Stevenson
Patricia Ann Stevenson, 68, died Thursday, April 29, 2004 at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, MA after a brief illness. Patty was born in Greenville, South Carolina and moved to Malden at an early age where she was educated in the Malden Public Schools. She was employed as a supervisor for the Massachusetts Sate Department of Identification for over thirty- three years until her retirement in 1995. Patty was an avid reader and really enjoyed life and her family and friends. Miss Stevenson had lived in Malden, MA for over sixty years before moving to Methuen, MA. four years ago.
She is survived by her cousins, Patricia L. Allen, Brian Mobley, Jr., James L. Allen, Carl Crawford, Raymond Allen, Wilhelmina Allen and Marguerite Allen all of PA.
She was born October 10, 1935 in Greenville, South Carolina the daughter of the late William and Arie (Allen) Stevenson.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, MA on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel J. Hickey, Pastor of Sacred Heart Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
Eva Hilda Stride
Eva Hilda Stride, 99, a retired registered nurse, died Saturday, February 3, 2001 at the Epoch Senior Care Center in Melrose, MA. Eva was born in Moordawn, Bournemouth, England and after WW II ended came to the United States settling in Malden thirty-nine years ago. She then entered the nursing program at Spaulding Hospital in Boston and became a registered nurse. She then worked for the Malden Nursing Home as a Registered Nurse until its closing and then went to work for the Davenport Memorial Home of Malden in the same capacity until she retired. She was a member of the Malden Grange, Malden Old & New and the Malden Senior Citizens. Eva was an avid horsewomen and swimmer and loved to travel, having made twenty two trips back to England and visiting every state in the union. Miss Stride lived in Malden, Massachusetts for 49 years and was previously from England.
She is survived by her niece, Irene Snider of ORE and her long time friend, Dorothy P. Jewell, of Malden.
She was born January 30, 1902 in Moorsdawn, England the daughter of the late George and Charlotte (Selwood) Stride.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Tuesday from 2-4 PM.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall P. Ferrara of The First Church in Malden, Congregational officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
Warren Hartwell John Sullivan
Warren H. J. Sullivan, 97, a retired Malden Policeman, died Monday, October 3, 2005 at the Winchester Nursing Center, Winchester, MA. Warren was born in Malden the son of the late Patrick H. & Annie M. (McGoogin) Sullivan. He was a graduate with Malden High School Class of 1926, where he was a four sport athlete. Warren joined the Malden Police Force in 1935 as a Patrolman. While still a Patrolman, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942 and when he was discharged in 1945, he held the rank of Specialist 2nd Class. He returned to the Police Department and served the city for thirty-seven years until his retirement in 1972.
Warren enjoyed many years of retirement in South Yarmouth. He also enjoyed many family gatherings both in and off the Cape. He was an avid sports fan, he faithfully followed the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed the World Series win in 2004. Warren was a long time communicant of St. Joseph's Church and was a member of the Malden VFW Post # 639.
He is survived by his son Warren J. 'Joe' Sullivan and his wife Sandra of Woburn, his daughter Kathleen M. Sullivan of Stoneham, his son James T. Sullivan and his wife Lisa of Belmont, his son Charles F. Sullivan of Boston, his stepson Thomas Scannell and stepdaughter Lois Guisewite, both of FL, his cherished grandchildren, Gary Sullivan of Methuen, Laurie Heizer of Nashua, NH, Grace & Emily Sullivan of Belmont, his great-grandchildren, Emma, Avery & Owen. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice B. (Kehoe) Sullivan, and his second wife Anna W. (McGarty) Sullivan, his father Patrick H. Sullivan, his mother Annie M. McGoogin, his brother Lincoln M. Sullivan, and his sister Isabel Sullivan, both formerly of Malden.
Visitation will be held at the Weir - MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Wednesday morning, October 5, 2005 from 10:15-11:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem St., Malden at 11:30AM. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
Robert Eric Sullivan
Robert Eric Sullivan, 34, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003 as the result of and accident in, Connecticut. Robert was born and raised in Malden, graduating from Malden High with the class of 1987. During those years he was extremely active with the Malden Drum Corps. In recent years Robert has worked as a carpenter in the Fall River area. Mr. Sullivan lived in Warren, Rhode Island for 2 years and was previously from Malden.
He is survived by son Steven P. Sullivan of Fall River, his mother Dianne M. Viana, his step-father Edward J. Gray of Revere, his sisters Lisa M. Sullivan of E. Boston, and Michelle R. Gray of Everett, his grandparents David W. and Mae D. Lyon (grandmother).
He was preceded in death by his brother Paul D. Sullivan.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Sunday, October 26th, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 27th, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home. Father William J. Minigan, Pastor of St. Joseph's Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden at a later date.
John Timothy Sundquist
John Timothy Sundquist, 46, died suddenly, Thursday, January 16, 2003. John was born in Malden and educated in Melrose schools graduating from Melrose High School with the "Class of 1974". He then attended Unity College in Unity Maine for two years. He returned to Melrose and trained as an automobile mechanic. He had been employed at several automobile repair shops in the greater Melrose area. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Malden. Mr. Sundquist was a lifelong resident of Melrose.
He is survived by his parents; John Robert and Elinor I. (Healey) Sundquist of Melrose, his sisters; Maria E. Sundquist of Medford and Margaret L. Lucchesi of Melrose.
He was born September 19, 1956 in Malden, Massachusetts the son of John Robert and Elinor (Healey) Sundquist.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, MA on Monday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

Francis Enos Surette
Francis Enos Surette, 'Fenway Frank' 75, died Friday, February 28, 2003 at the Winchester Hospital in Winchester, MA. after a lengthy illness. Francis was born and educated in Malden and while at Malden High School was active in the Green Room Drama Club. When he completed school he entered the Merchant Marines and served on troop transport ships and medical evacuation ships during W.W.II out of Sheep's Head Bay, NY as a pharmacists mate third class. When he left the Merchant Marines at the end of the war he returned to Malden and went to work for Faulkner Manufacturing Co of Malden as a cutter for automotive upholstery fabrics, where he met his wife Florence. After his marriage he went to work for VATCO Seat Covers of Boston as a foreman and upholsterer. While working for VATCO, which was located next to the Red Sox parking lot on Brookline Ave he also operated a parking lot during Red Sox games. He became friendly with the grounds crew at Fenway and the head groundskeeper, Joe Mooney, Then on opening day in April of 1982 when Boston had a big snow storm he made it possible for the Red Sox to truck the snow out of Fenway Park through his lot to dispose of the snow on his property saving the opening day festivities. He was employed at VATCO for over twenty -eight years. When he retired from VATCO in 1978 he opened his own auto upholstery shop, Fenway Car Care Center. During the twenty years he operated this business he became well known in the greater Boston area for his restoration work on the interior of antique vehicles and retired in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Malden. Mr. Surette was a life long resident of Malden, MA.
He is survived by his wife Florence M. (Pratt) Surette of Malden, his son Paul F. Surette of New Mexico, his son, Joseph P. Surette of Peabody, his son, James B. Surette of Malden, his daughter, Cheryl L. A. Ruane of Tyngsboro, his son, Michael P. Surette of Melrose, his son, Scott E. Surette of Wakefield, his son, Mark E. Surette of PA, his sister, V. Mae Santomango of Saugus, his brother, P. Lester Surette of Saugus, his brother, Joseph M.. Surette of Malden, his sister, Phyllis A. Buckley of Malden, and fifteen grandchildren..
He was preceded in death by his sister Marceline M.J. Henderson, and his brother Edmund L. Surette.
He was born October 19, 1927 in Malden, MA the son of the late Enos and Louise (Muise) Surette. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

Rosemary Brenda Sutherland
Rosemary Brenda (Correia) Sutherland, 67,, died Sunday, January 19, at the Mass General Hospital in Boston. Rosemary was born and educated in Cambridge, graduating from Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School with the "Class of 1953". She was employed as a bookkeeper for the Royal Insurance Company of Boston for over twenty years until her retirement in 2002. She was a resident of Cambridge until settling in Malden over thirty six years ago. She served on the Committee to Save the old Malden High School Seal. Mrs. Sutherland lived in Malden, Massachusetts for 36 years and was previously from Cambridge.
She is survived by her husband Robert A. Sutherland of Malden, MA, his daughter, Ruth Joanne Goodwin of Malden, his son Robert W. & his wife Heidi Sutherland of Malden and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Correia, and her mother Ruth Griggs.

Henry G. Svendbye
Henry G. Svendbye of Malden, aged 96, passed away Wedsnesday, Aug. 20th after a short illness in Newton. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth (Andersen) Svendbye, a devoted brother of the late Alfhild Svendbye and Margit Jenness. Henry was the father of Henry E., and a very special grandfather to Mark and Dianne Svendbye, as well as Great-grandfather to Jeffrey and Erik Svendbye and granddaughter Lori. Josephine L. Swanson
Josephine L. (Mastrullo) Swanson, 91, died Saturday, September 20, 2003 at the Blueberry Hill Healthcare in Beverly, MA. Josephine was born and educated in Boston. After her marriage to Nils G. Swanson on March 14, 1942 they settled in Malden and started their family. Josephine later worked for the Lewis Candy Co. of Malden for a number of years until its closing. She went on to work for the Malden Public School System, as a cafeteria worker, until her retirement in 1977. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Malden for many years. Mrs. Swanson had been living in Danvers, MA with her husband and was previously from Malden.
She is survived by her husband, Nils G. Swanson of Danvers, her son's George M. Vietze of CA, Nils J. Swanson and his wife Joanne of Danvers, MA, her brother, Raymond Mastrullo of Billerica also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Frank Mastrullo, and her mother Rose (Lambardi) Mastrullo and her son, Charles E. Swanson formerly of Malden & Texas.

Nils Gideon Swanson
Nils Gideon Swanson, 90, died Friday, February 11, 2005 at the Blueberry Hill Healthcare in Beverly, MA. Nils was born and educated in Malden. After graduating high school, he and his brother established the Swanson Brother's Coal and Ice Business in Malden. He then went to work for The City of Malden as a laborer at Forest Dale Cemetery. He married his late wife, of over fifty years, Josephine L. Mastrullo in March of 1942 and he enlisted in the U.S Army in June of 1942 to serve in W.W. II. He served with the Headquarters & Service Troop 85th Reconnaissance Squadron Mechanized in Normandy, Northern France and Germany. When he was discharged in 1945 he returned to Malden and his work with the City of Malden in the cemetery department. He was appointed superintendent at Forest Dale Cemetery in 1950 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Malden and Malden Post No. 639 VFW. Mr. Swanson lived in Danvers, Massachusetts for the past three years and was previously from Malden.
He is survived by his son, Nils J.and his wife Jo-Ann Swanson of Danvers His son George M. Vietze of CA, and six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine L. (Mastrullo) Swanson, and his son Charles E. Vietze of Malden.
He was born September 29, 1914 in Malden, Massachusetts the son of the late Carl and Ellen (Johnson) Swanson.
He served in the Army during World War II having attained the rank of Tech 5. enlisted on June 13, 1942 at Boston, MA discharged on June 12, 1945 at Ft. Devens, MA.

George Adrian Sweeney
George Adrian Sweeney, 70, passed away Thursday, December 30th [2005]in Ocala, Florida. He was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1934. He started his career as a baker in Ireland and was employed by the First National Supermarket in Malden for many years. He later became a Correctional Officer at the Billerica House of Correction in Billerica, MA. He was a supportive and loving father, a good friend and an extremely hard worker. He had the gift of being a handyman and used that gift to help everyone around him his entire life. He had a passion for dancing and was great at it. You could find George, Ballroom dancing or Country Western dancing three to four times a week.
He sadly leaves behind three loving daughters, Maxine Bartlett of N. Andover, Regina Sweeney of England and Randi Trygstad of Michigan. His sister Beatrice D'albenzio and brothers Emmett, Vivian and Brian Sweeney. As well as, his four grandchildren Remy, Jake, Riley and Brian.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 7th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, MA 02148. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tsunami / Earthquake Relief Fund at www.usafreedomcorp.gov.
Robert Andrew Sweeney
Robert Andrew Sweeney, 65, a firefighter for Malden Fire Department, where he worked for over twenty six years, died Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at the Franklin Regional Hospital in Franklin, New Hampshire. Bob was born and educated in Somerville graduating in 1956. He then went to the Mass Radio & Electronics School in Boston. and went to work for AT&T in Cambridge as a technician. In 1961 he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Era in Taiwan, China. When he was discharged in 1964 he became a field engineer for Philco Ford in Thailand and when he returned to the states he resumed his position at AT&T. He was appointed to the Malden Fire Department in February of 1973 and was assigned to the Linden Fire station where he was the driver of Engine 6. In October of 1990 he was appointed Assistant Fire Alarm Supervisor as a Captain and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Sweeney lived in Tilton, New Hampshire for the pat two years and was previously from Malden, MA where he had resided for over thirty years.
He is survived by his step-mother, Eleanor S. (Wood) Sweeney of Tilton, NH, his sisters Doris Stuyvenberg of FL and Eleanor Giuffre of Malden, his brothers; Paul Sweeney of Malden, John Sweeney of Woburn and Lawrence Sweeney of GA.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Sweeney of Saugus.
He was born June 10, 1938 in Somerville, Massachusetts the son of the late Jeremiah and Katherine (Ludwig) Sweeney Jr.
