Blanche Ethel Upham
Blanche Ethel Upham, 85, a retired bookkeeper for Commercial Union Ins., where she worked until retiring at age 65 in 1980, died Friday, September 21, 2001 at Melrose Nursing Home in Melrose, Massachusetts. Blanche was born and raised in Malden. She was educated in the Malden School Systems, graduating from Malden High School. She was a life long member of the Center United Methodist Church, and a member of the Rebecca's Lodge for 65 years, as well as a past Treasurer for the lodge. Blanche enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was also an avid bowler, and played in local leagues until recently. Ms. Upham lived in Malden, Massachusetts for entire life.
She is survived by Virginia Stack (dear friend) of Lowell, MA.
She was preceded in death by her father Cyrus W. Upham, and her mother Annabelle MacKinnon.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7 PM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. John C. Blair of Centre United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
William Donald Upton
William Donald Upton, 74, of Malden, died Friday, June 24, 2005 at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody. Bill was born in Somerville, and moved to Woburn at an early age where he was raised and educated. After high school, Bill attended Burdett College and Bentley College, where he studied accounting. He then enlisted in the US Navy, and served during the Korean Conflict. He served aboard the USS Shenandoah for several years, and then aboard the USS Miller before his discharge. He was discharged in 1955 having attained the rank of Yeoman 2nd Class.
Upon returning from the service, Bill took employment with International Harvester as an accountant. He worked for the company for many years, until he began getting involved with real estate. He worked as a Real Estate Broker and was also involved in property management, working for the Pinkham's in Lynn. During this time, he moved from Woburn to Newton, where he lived for many years, then he spent a short time in Brockton before settling in Malden over 20 years ago.
He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy G. Johnson of Billerica, Barbara J. Quinn of Lowell, Elsie M. Brophy of Woburn, Judith A Upton of Woburn, his brothers Charles F. Upton of Burlington,, Richard P. Upton of FL, Joseph R. Upton of Woburn, Roger K. Upton of Woburn, and Robert D. Upton of Apollo Beach, FL. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett M. and Margaret A. (Lyons) Upton, his brother Everett M. Upton, his sister Margaret A. Torrice, his brother John J. Upton, and his sister Phyllis J. James.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Wednesday, June 29th, from 4-8 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30 from the funeral home at 8:00AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. in St. Joseph's Church. Rev. Richard T. Michael James Ventola
Michael James Ventola, 62, a lifelong resident of Malden, died Friday, May 07, 2004 at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett. He was born August 15, 1941 in Malden, the son of Orlando and Eleanor (Nagle) Ventola. Michael was raised and educated in Malden. He was an longtime member of the painters union, District Council #35, and worked as a painter until his health forced his retirement. Michael was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie # 893, in Malden. He was also a member and Past Commodore of the Broadsound Tuner Club, and a member of Sacred Hearts Church. Michael was an avid outdoorsman. He really enjoyed hunting, as well as boating and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara A. (Dunbar) of Malden, MA, his daughter Barbara Ventola of Malden, his son Scott M. Ventola of Princeton, his daughter Teresa Ventola of Malden, his brother Orlando A. Ventola of NH, his sister Carmella Rueben of OR, and his grandchildren Miranda L., Nicholas D., Lyndsey R.

Edward Bailey Verge Jr.
Edward Bailey Verge Jr., 69, a retired carpenter, died Sunday August 12, 2001 at his home in Malden. The cause was prostate cancer.
Edward was born and raised in Revere. After graduating from Revere High School in 1950, he enlisted in the Army. He served in the Army Security Agency (ASA) as a radio intercept operator during the Korean conflict. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1954. He moved to Malden and founded Edward Verge & Son Contractors. In 1955 he married his high school sweetheart, Ann, and the two shared the next 46 years together.
Edward was a trustee and longtime member of the Christ United Methodist Church. He was also active with the Malden Historical Society, the Victorian Society, and the Friends of the Malden Public Library. He was an avid golfer.
Edward is survived by his wife Ann M. Verge, his son Robert E. Verge of Florida, and his daughter Lisa Verge-Higgins of New Jersey. He is also survived by three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father Edward B. Verge Sr., and his mother, Fanny Verge, both of Malden.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home at 144 Salem Street in Malden on Tuesday, August 14 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
Funeral services will be held at the Christ United Methodist Church at 577 Salem Street in Malden on Wednesday, August 15 at 1 pm. Pastor Ruth Oduor will be officiating. Entombment will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum in Everett.

Robert Henry Vining
Robert Henry Vining, 78, longtime resident of Malden, died Saturday, October 09, 2004 at Lemmuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston. Robert was born and raised in Everett, attending the Everett School Systems. Like many of his day, he left high school to enlist in the service, joining the US Navy to fight in WWII. He earned the Purple Heart in action when his gunboat, the USS PC 1255 was destroyed by the Japanese. He also served aboard the USS Gospen until his discharge in 1946, having attained the rank of Seaman 2nd Class. Upon returning from the war, he immediatedly married his sweetheart, Catherine Keddy, and the two would share the next 56 years together raising their eight children. He truly was a family man, and enjoyed sports. Robert was also a member of the VFW Post 603 in Malden.
He is survived by his wife Catherine (Keddy) Vining, his children, Linda L. Strum of NH, Robert H. Vining Jr. of NH, Margaret K. Soldano of Everett, Bruce W. Vining of Boxford, Dorothy H. Kirwan of Melrose, Miriann K. Brander of Billerica, Donna R. Blundell of Malden, and Joanne L. Vining of Malden, his brother William Vining of Malden, his sister, Frances Nolan of Revere, as well as 21grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis E. and Elizabeth M. (Denny) Vining.

James Michael Wakely Sr.
James Michael Wakely, 80, a retired millwright for Local 264, where he worked for years, died Thursday, June 21, 2001 at Dexter House Nursing Home in Malden. James was born and raised in Everett, attending the Everett school system. After high school, he enlisted on October 17, 1942, in the Army to help fight in WWII. He served in the Army during World War II having attained the rank of Tech 5. He became a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, and fought in Pacific Theatre. He was Discharged in 1946, and he returned home to marry his wife Judith (Harring), with whom he shared the next 32 years.
He worked as a Millwright for the Local 264 International Machinist Union, where he built machinery for many different companies, including at American Can, and Herald Record American. He retired from the Union in 1972. James was also an avid baseball fan.
Mr. Wakely lived in Malden for the past 24 years, and had previously lived in Dorchester and Everett.
He is survived by sons, Richard J. Wakely of Malden, and Michael J. Wakely of Lynn, and grandchildren Richard, Timothy, Joanne, Lisa, and Jamie.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judith (Harring), his father Michael Wakely, and his mother Helen (Brady).

Philip Frederic Waltman
Philip F. 'Phil' Waltman, 61, died Saturday morning, November 19, 2005 at his home in Malden. Phil was born in Portland, ME, the son of the late Harold C. Waltman Sr. and Doris F. (Smart) Waltman.
Phil was raised in Steuben, ME and was a graduate of the Sumner Memorial High School in Sullivan, ME. After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam with the Air Rescue of the 1883rd Medical Service Squad Headquarters Command. He served from January 1964-July 1967 and received the Air Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Phil was discharged as an Airman First Class. After his discharge Phil became an HVAC technician working in the heating and cooling industry for many years.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, glass etching and country & western music. He was a life time member of the Disabled American Veterans Association. He was a Provost Guard with the Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington for many years and was a member of the Joseph Webb Masonic Lodge, Boston. He was a reservist with the Middlesex Sheriff Department and had been a resident of Malden for the last thirty-five years.
He is survived by his wife, Frances A. (Young) Waltman and his daughter Fay W. Howell of Lynn, and his brother Harold C. Waltman Jr. of S. Portland, ME.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Monday, November 21st from 6-9 PM.

Jessie Elizabeth Weichmann
J. Elizabeth 'Liz' Weichmann, 84, a retired bookkeeper, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at the East Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Chelsea, MA. Liz was born in Stoneham and educated in Everett schools where she has been a lifelong resident. When she completed school she went to work for Andrew Dutton Co. of Boston as a bookkeeper and was employed there for forty-five years until her retirement in 1980. When she retired she became a day care assistant at the Little Rascals Day Care Center of Malden where she worked for another ten years. She was an active member of the Mystic Side Congregational Church of Everett, Life Member of Glendale Chapter #83 Order of the Eastern Star and Ione Lodge #129 Rebecca's of Everett. She also received several community service awards for her volunteer work at the Dexter Nursing Home in Malden. Miss Weichmann was a life long resident of Everett.
She is survived by several cousins.

Robert Wells
Robert Wells, 80, died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the Mc Fadden Memorial Manor, Malden, MA Mr. Wells was a life long resident of Malden and was educated in the Malden school system. Bob loved to play the piano and keyboard and enjoyed listening to music. He loved to tell his jokes to all his friends and family members. Bob worked for Project Triangle in Malden for many years.
He is survived by his cousin Bertha Melanson and her husband George of Saugus, William Barter of Malden and Bessie Rikeman of Reading and many other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Wells, his mother Lillian Smith, his brother Albert Well formerly of Malden, his cousin Earl Barter, and his cousin Nancy Doucette.
He was born February 4, 1923 in Malden, MA the son of the late Ernest and Lillian (Smith) Wells.

Alice Marie Wharton
Alice Marie Wharton, 82, a secretary for SS Pierce, Autimatica Radio, where she worked for years, died Saturday, April 17, 2004 at the East Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Chelsea. Alice was born in Cambridge. She was raised and educated in Somerville, graduating from Somerville High School with the class of 1939. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, as well as the occasional game of Bingo.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice M. and her husband Jerry W. Utter, her son Eugene F. Wharton of Melrose, her son Richard L. Wharton of Bedford, Cynthia C.and her husband Richard Cookson of Andover, her brothers Armand A. Beauchemin of N. Yarmouth, and Eugene O. Beauchemin of Lexington, her sister Clair B. Beauchemin-Boeri of Burlington, as well as 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Wharton, her parents Armand and Justina (Martin) Beauchemin, her son John A. Wharton, and her brothers Ernest A. Beauchemin and Arthur E. Beauchemin.

Florence M. 'Flo' Wheeler
Florence M. 'Flo' (Olson) Wheeler, 81, died Tuesday evening, November 30, 2004 at Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford, MA. Flo was born and educated in Malden. After completing high school she became a practical nurse. Florence's long career spanned many years of taking care of the sick and elderly at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital, the Tuell Nursing Home in Melrose, The McFadden & Forest Dale Nursing Homes in Malden. After many years of loving service, Flo retired in 1971.
Mrs. Wheeler was a communicant of St. Josephs Church for many years and was an avid bingo player. She was a longtime resident of Malden, formerly residing in Peace Dale, RI for twenty years. In her younger years she and her sister Mary performed at the USO Club in Boston as tap dancers during WWII. They were know as the Olson sister and performed on the Major Bowes Radio station in Boston, before television came along.
Flo is survived by, her sons, Edgar F. Wheeler and Ronald C. Wheeler both of Malden, Robert A. Wheeler of FL, her daughter Francis Miekoski of FL, her brothers, Allen Olson of NH, Frederick Olson of Billerica, Frank Olson of Littleton, her sisters, Mary Dupont of Melrose, Ruth Paradise of Malden, Rose Van Ness of NY, and her cherished, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Allen Olsen, her mother Francis Heathe, her husband Edgar Wheeler, and her brother George Olson.
She was born September 27, 1923 in Malden, MA the daughter of the late Allen and Francis (Heathe) Olsen.

Vera R. Whelan
Vera R. (Groves) Whelan, 75, died Sunday morning, August 21, 2005 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose after a short illness. Born in Malden on August 5, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Donald M. & Annie I . Groves. Vera was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1948. After high school Vera worked for the John Hancock Insurance Co. in Boston for five years as a file clerk. She married her husband John B. Whelan on August 25, 1951 in the Center Methodist Church and the couple stayed in Malden and later raised their two boys. The couple would spend the next fifty-four years together. In Vera's spare time she enjoyed making crafts and was considered a great seamstress.
Vera is survived by her husband Retired Malden Firefighter John B. Whelan of Malden, Her son's David J. Whelan of Winthrop, Douglas E. Whelan of SC, her cousin Annie Jacobs of Arlington and her brother Clayton Groves of Melrose, her cherished grandchildren, David J. Whelan Jr., Jason Whelan, Jamie Whelan and Shannon Whelan all of Malden.
She was preceded in death by her father Donald M. Groves, her mother Annie I. Groves, her sister Dorothy Antosh, her brother's Eric Groves, Alexander Groves, and her sister Marguerite Glennon.

Arthur Leonard White
Arthur Leonard White, 71, a retired air freight worker for Delta Air Lines, where he worked for 30 years, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at his home in Malden. Arthur was born and raised in Malden. He attended the Malden School systems, but at the age of 17 before he graduated, he enlisted in the Air Force to help fight in the Korean Conflict. While in the service, he did complete his GED.
After serving his tour, he returned to the Malden area where he married his wife, Eleanor Dillingham. They settled down on Wolcott Street, and he lived there for over 35 years. He went to work for Delta Airlines as part of their Air Freight personnel, and retired from there after 30 years.
He was an active member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Malden for over 40 years.
He is survived by daughter Judith A. Perrault of VA, son L. Michael White of NJ, son Kevin R. White of Medford, daughter Deborah T. White of Somerville, daughter Diane T. White of NC, and son Mark A. White of Melrose. He is also survived by his brother Arthur Davey of Billerica, sister Barbara Davey of OR, and brother Joseph LeBlanc. He was the grandfather of Thomas Jr., Stephanie, Timothy, and Megan Perrault of VA, Julia, Samantha and Dana White of NJ, Jonathan, Jaclyn, Keryn, and Courtney White of Medford, Marissa and Kristen Underwood of Somerville, Kelly Smith of NC, and Kyle, Ian and Morgan White of Melrose.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, his father Sidney White, and his mother Elizabeth Burbie.
He was born March 24, 1930 in Malden, Massachusetts the son of Sidney and Elizabeth (Burbie) White. He served in the Air Force during Korean Conflict.

Henry Joseph White Sr.
Henry Joseph White Sr., 88, a retired 2nd class engineer for the Boston Gas Company, where he worked for 30 years, died Thursday, November 15, 2001 at Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford, MA Henry worked as a 2nd. Class engineer for the Everett Office of the Boston Gas Company for 30 years and retired in 1975. Had been a resident of Malden for over 60 years and was residing in Chelsea for the last two years.
Henry loved to coach Little League Baseball in Malden and was an active democrat; he loved to debate politics with people. He was long a time member of the United Steel Worker Association of Boston.
He is survived by his children, Sarah "Betty" Godfrey and her husband Joseph of Bradford, Louise T. McGillicuddy and her husband James of FL, Patricia A. Reeder of N. Reading, Pamela M. White of FL and her late husband Paul. Henry J. White Jr. and his wife Mary of Malden, James W. White and his wife Evelyn of Georgetown, Pearl F. Caron and her husband James of Chelsea, Diane M. Denault and her husband Daniel of Salem, NH. Also survived by 28 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Louise M. (Jackson) White.
He was born July 29, 1913 in Melrose, MA the son of the late James and Sarah E. (Higgins) White.

Tamina Lee White
Tamina Lee White, 39, died suddenly, Saturday, March 22, 2003 at the Salem Hospital in Salem, MA. Tamina was born in Boston and educated in Malden Schools graduating Malden High School with the "Class of 1981". When she completed school she went to work for the Liberty Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Boston as a secretary for a few years. She then became a postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office working at the office located at South Station. She was employed there for thirteen years retiring in 1996 on disability. She loved to work out at the gym and was an avid bingo player. Mrs. White lived in Salem, MA for the past fifteen years and was previously from Malden.
She is survived by her husband Joseph A. White of Salem,, her son,, De'Sean M. Harrison of Salem. her step-daughter, Miko Martin of N.C. her father Rocco L. Carapellucci of Revere, her mother Lorraine A. (Baldassari) Carapellucci of Malden,, her brother, Richard C. Carapellucci, her sisters, Lisa L. Carapellucci of Salem and Robyn L. Kolpachnikof of Billerica and several nieces and nephews.
She was born December 21, 1963 in Boston, Massachusetts the daughter of Rocco L. and Lorraine A. Baldassari) Carapellucci.

Ordis W. Whitmore
Ordis W. Whitmore, 71, died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the VA Hospital of West Roxbury in Boston, MA. Ordis was born and educated in Nashville, AK. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950 serving during the Korean War. When he was discharged he settled in the Boston area and was employed as a chef for several area restaurants including several years at the Union Oyster House in Boston and also as chef at the Faculty Club of Harvard University. He has been a resident of Malden for the past twelve years and had resided for several years in Allston. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 19 of Somerville and Past Grand Director of the Middlesex 40/8. He has also done volunteer work at the Jamaica Plain Veterans Hospital for a number of years and was well known to the staff and other volunteers.
He is survived by his daughter, Lola A. Conti of Malden, his son, Robert L. Spicer of Brockton, his son, John C. Spicer of Malden, his sister, Arlene Harrison of Boston, his brother, Rufus Whitmore of AK, his sister in-law, Louise Whitmore of Boston, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, M. (Rattigan) Whitmore his brother Joseph Whitmore, his sister Nellie Whitmore, and his brother Alfred Whitmore.
He was born June 28, 1933 in Nashville, Arkansas the son of the late Ollie and Florence (Wisson) Whitmore.

John Joseph Whitson
John Joseph Whitson, 57, died Friday, April 18, 2003 at his home in Everett, Massachusetts. John was born in Chelsea, and raised in Everett. He attended the Everett school system and completed high school there. Following high School, he enlisted in the Navy. . He served in the Navy during Vietnam Era having attained the rank of SA (E-2). enlisted on August 30, 1962 at Everett, MA discharged on February 17, 1966 at San Francisco, CA Upon his discharge, he returned to the Everett area, and went to work for GE as a Machinist. John was a member and Past President of the American Legion in Malden, a Member of the Italian American in REvere, and the Patriots Club, also in Revere.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Chelsea, his children, James A. Whitson of Haverhill, Gina M. Whitson of CA, John J. Whitson of Malden, and Tara M. Whitson of Woburn, his mother Marleen (Shields) Whitson of Everett, his brother Roy Whitson of Lynn, his sister,Valerie Catalano of Everett, 8 Grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father Leeland Whitson.

Debra Ann Whynot
Debra Ann Whynot, 43, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon, December 23, 2003 at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, MA. Debra was a life long resident of Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1979. After high school she was employed with the Eastern Bank of Malden for thirteen years until her retirement in 1995 because of health reasons. Debra cherished her two cats Lillie and Calie. Even with all the different ailments that she went through she always made her friends and family laugh.
She is survived her brothers, James W. Whynot Jr. and his wife Maria of Framingham, Robert C. Whynot and his wife Debra of Malden, her sisters, Tina M. Branciforte and her husband Christopher F. of Malden, Beth A. Dellolio and her husband Bryan R. of Salisbury she was also survived by seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father James W. Whynot Sr., and her mother Rita L. (Shiner) Whynot.
She was born February 17, 1960 in Melrose, MA the daughter of late James and Rita (Shiner) Whynot Sr.

Constance V. Willey
Constance V. Willey, died Monday, October 20, 2003 at the Lahey-Hitchcock Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts. Constance was born in Geneva, NY, and at the age of two moved to the Malden area. She attended the Malden School System, and graduated from Malden High School with the class of 1936. After high school, she studied Occupational Therapy in Boston. In 1943, in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Malden, she married her sweetheart, Herbert A. Willey just before his departure with the Army to help fight in WWII. The two would share the next 60 years together in Malden. Constance enjoyed arts and crafts, was a member of the Arts and Crafts Society of Wakefield. She also had joined the Fidel Wheel, a women's social group based in the Greenwood section of Wakefield. Mrs. Willey has lived in Malden, Massachusetts for the past eighty three years.
She is survived by her husband Herbert A. Willey, of Malden, her daughters; Pamela A. Manahan of Malden, Andrea C. Willey of Wakefield, and her grandchildren Scott I. Manahan of Salem and Heather M. Manahan of FL.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence F. Blomerth, her mother Edith (Pendel) and her brother C. Russell Blomerth.

Herbert Austin Willey
Herbert A. Willey, 88, died Sunday February 27, 2005 at the Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham after a long illness. He was born August 27, 1916 in Malden, MA the son of Cleve and Elizabeth (Presley) Willey. Mr. Willey was educated in Malden and attended classes at Harvard University in Boston. In 1943, Herb married his love, Constance V. Blomerth, in St. Paul's Episcopal Parish. He went off to serve in the U. S. Army as a Sergeant with the 503 Military Police Battalion. Following his service to his country, the couple stayed in Malden and raised their two daughters. Herbert and Connie spent the next fifty-nine years together. Connie later passed on in 2003. Mr. Willey's working career spanned many years, working for the General Electric Co., Raytheon, Co. and as a liaison working with the Department of Commerce in Boston from 1948 to 1968. In 1962, Herb started a business endeavor. He saw the vision and the need to start a Data Processing company in Wakefield. He developed the business over the next forty-one years, until it's closing in 2002. He also purchased a data processing company in England that processed medical billing outside the country. This helped speed up his processing time and would increase business. Herb owned real estate properties in Wakefield that kept him busy developing and managing the buildings. Herb's daughters, Pam & Andrea, remember their father was always the guy that was thinking outside of the box, always ahead of the curve.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela A. Manahan of Malden and Andrea C. Willey of Wakefield, his sisters, Stella Syska of ME and Esther Smith of NH, his cherished grandchildren, Scott J. Manahan of Salem and Heather M. Manahan of FL, and his great-grandson Rowan Manahan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Constance V. Blomerth, his father Cleve Willey, and his mother Elizabeth Presley, his brothers, Edwin Willey, Lawrence Willey, Lionel Willey, and Kenneth Willey.

Frank Andrew Wilsack
Frank Andrew Wilsack, 93, a retired painter who worked for years, died Monday, April 02, 2001 at his home in Malden, Massachusetts. Frank was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada. He came to the Boston area in the late 1920's, and eventually settled in Malden. He married his wife Fannie in 1933, at the Sacred Hearts Parish in Malden, and they shared the next 67 years together.
Frank was a self-employed painter, painting interiors and exteriors of both residential and commercial properties. Having a strong work ethic, he was still painting into his 90's. He fully retired in 1998.
He was a member of the Sacred Hearts Parish in Malden, a past member of the YMCA, and also a member of the Painter's Union. He also was an avid baseball and hockey fan, but his most pleasurable time was spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife Fannie E. (Thompson), son Richard N. Wilsack and his wife Barbara of Eastham, son Ralph S. Wilsack and his wife Susan of Choctaw, OK grandchildren Andrew F. Wilsack and his wife Kathleen, Thomas M. Wilsack and his wife Audrey, and Michael N. Wilsack and his wife Bethan, his step-grandsons, Scott R. Bergman, and Stephen R. Bergman, and grandsons Peter R. Wilsack and Daniel J. Wilsack.
He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Wilsack, his mother Mary (Vincent), his brothers Jack Wilsack, Stanley Wilsack, his sisters Annie Chervinsky, Mary Trasuk, Lena Smith, and his grandson James R. Wilsack.

Sarah J. 'Sadie' Wingerter
Sarah J. 'Sadie' Wingerter, at 106 years old, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, MA. "Sadie" was born in Boston and educated in Malden Schools. When she completed school she married and raised her two children. She then went to work for the Schraft's Candy Company of Charlestown as a floor lady where she was employed for over twenty-five years retiring in 1961. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Malden. Mrs. Wingerter was a life long resident of Malden, MA.
She is survived by her son Fred W. Wingerter of Malden six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Wingerter formerly of Malden and her daughter Mary Hodgkins formerly of Malden.
She was born February 12, 1896 in Boston, MA. one of eighteen children of the late John and Mary (Faucher) Heath.

Rose Lucille Winrow
Rose Lucille Winrow, 79, died Thursday, March 28, 2002 at the Harborside Health Care in Wakefield, MA, after a lengthy illness. She was born and educated in Malden and took ballet lessons throughout the years of her schooling. When she completed high school she went on to several well-known schools of ballet including the Harriet Hoctor School of Ballet of Boston and the Marmein School of Ballet on the Cape. She then joined the Clyde Beatty Group, which consisted of Dick Richards, Lillian and Mary Hand. They preformed in variety shows in several Broadway clubs and numerous clubs up and down the east coast. When she returned to the Boston area she teamed up with Doris Tierney and formed the Evans Sister, a variety show which also preformed at several clubs up and down the east coast and appeared locally at Blinstrubs Night Club in Boston on numerous occasions. They also operated dance studios in several locations in the Boston area. She then retired from show business to raise her family. When her family was grown she worked at the Malden Hospital in food service. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Parish and the St. Ann's Guild of the Church and the Malden YWCA. Mrs. Winrow had lived in Malden, MA. for most of her life, except when she was performing.
She is survived by her sons, Alan R. Winrow of So. Weymouth, Brian E. Winrow of Quincy, Craig S. Winrow of Malden, her sister, Betty Devaney of Dennisport and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her late brother, William Norris formerly of Oregon.
She was born November 11, 1922 in Malden, Massachusetts the daughter of the late Clarence R. and Jennie (Evans) Norris.

ELAINE L. WIXON
MASSASOIT DESCENDANT
Elaine L. Wixon of Taunton, known as White Dove to her Wampanoag Indian family, died suddenly Saturday at home, she was 45. Elaine was born in Worcester, MA to an Italian mother and an American Indian father.
Ms Wixon resided in Malden nearly her entire life and attended public schools there. She recently moved to Taunton.
Ms Wixon was a 12th generation descendant of Chief Massasoit, who befriended the Pilgrims when they first settled in New England, as well as Chief Chicataubut of the Massachuset tribe.
She was the granddaughter of Chief Red Shell (Clarence Wixon Sr.), who played a key role in the reorganization of the Wampanoag Tribe in the 1920s, and was niece of Chief Red Blanket (Clarence Wixon Jr.), one of the region's most respected chiefs.
Ms Wixon was the daughter of Clinton Neakeahamuck Wixon (Lightening Foot) of Taunton and the late Barbara Wixon (Ciampa), formerly of Malden.
She is survived by her loving sister Josephine A. Wixon of Malden; two daughters, Carrie A. Wixon of Lynn and Angela V. Wixon of Buffalo, NY, one son Mario J. Wixon of Malden, three grandchildren, Angela Kilpatrick of Lynn, Edwin Wixon of NY and Mateo Colon of Malden and many other relatives and friends.

Dr. Althea Anne Wolfkopf
Dr. Althea Anne (Crilley) Wolfkopf, 77, died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the Hunt Nursing Home in Danvers, MA. Althea was born in Malden and attended primary schools in North Reading and graduated from Reading High School in 1942. She went on to earn her BA, her Masters Degree in German and Doctoral Degree in Philosophy at Boston University. She spent five years teaching at Utica College in New York she then served a Fellowship in Munich Germany. She worked for the U.S. Army Special Services in Germany for two years. When she returned to the United States she settled in Melrose and lectured at Boston University for five years and then became a Professor at Regis College in Weston, MA. She taught German there for twenty-seven years and was the head of the German Department at Regis College at the time of her retirement in 1990.When she retired she moved to Osterville and enjoyed her volunteer work at the Osterville Public Library.
Althea enjoyed traveling extensively throughout Europe, Africa and the Galapagos Islands and would often take students on field trips with her. Her hobbies consisted of cooking, in particular making breads and fancy deserts, along with gardening and she also enjoyed canoeing in Maine. Althea was also secretary of the Oysterville Chapter of the AARP. Mrs. Wolfkopf lived in Oysterville, MA for the past ten years and was previously from Melrose where she had resided for over twenty years. .
She is survived by her sister, Barbara B. Parsons of North Reading, her brother, Frank L. Crilley of NH, and eight nieces and nephews and nine grand nieces and nephew.
She was born July 24, 1926 in Malden, Massachusetts the daughter of the late Leo and Phoebe (Pratt) Crilley.

Lillian E. (Lane) Wolsey, 100, a homemaker, died Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Winchester Nursing Home in Winchester, MA. Lillian was born in Revere, raised and educated in Malden. She was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1923 and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Malden before moving to Winchester in 1953. She was a member of Malden Old & New, Eastern Star and the Garden Club, Women's Fellowship Group 'N' all in Malden. Lillian was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winchester. She was a Deaconess with the church and a member of the Women's Fellowship in Winchester. Mrs. Wolsey had lived in Winchester for forty-seven years and had a summer home in Wareham.

Ronald Henry Wright
Ronald Henry Wright, 72, died Sunday, August 4, 2002 at the Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA. Mr. Wright had lived in Melrose, MA for the last 16 years and was formerly a resident of Malden for 35 years. Ron attended the Somerville School system and joined the United States Air Force on January 3, 1951 an attained the rank of Airman First Class. He was discharged on December 14, 1954. He was married on May 25, 1952 to Mary G. Wright in St. Benedict Church in Somerville and they were married for 50 years. Ronald was a truck driver for Exxon Oil Corp. of Everett, MA where he worked for 30 years and retired in the 1990's. Ron was an avid billiards player.
He is survived by his wife Mary G. (Palazzuolo) Wright and was the father of Douglas E. Wright of Danvers, Edward R. Wright of Londonderry, NH, Judith M. Foley of Malden, Thomas M. Wright of Chelsea, Chris M. Wright of Melrose, Lisa A. Connor of Westboro. He was the brother of Cynthia A. Williams. Grandfather of eight grandchildren.
He was born May 26, 1930 in Milo, Maine the son of the late Henry and Hazel (Blakeney) Wright. Ronald was the brother of the late Phyllis Luce formerly of Wareham, MA He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Virginia Mary Yaghjian
Virginia Mary Yaghjian, 95, of Malden, formerly of Medford, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001 after a long illness at Dexter Nursing Home in Malden.
Health issues though out her life kept her from a continuous occupation. She did work at different times, as a salesperson for Grover Cronin in Waltham, at Radio Shack on Comm. Ave in Boston, and also at Wilburs Restaraunt at Boston University where she was the head cashier and Bookkeeper. She maintained an love of flowers though gardening at her home and an occasional job in the Green House of Garden Centers. She was also a past member of the Horticultural Society in Boston.
She is survived byhe sister in law, Martha Yaghjian of Medford, wife of her brother, the late George M. Yaghjian.

George Yanakopoulos
George Yanakopoulos, 86, died suddenly Monday, December 20, 2004 at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, MA Mr. Yanakopoulos was born in Boston and at a early age moved with his family to Everett in 1927. He later moved to Malden where he had resided for most of his life. George was educated in the Malden School system and a graduate of the Class of 1936. After graduation he took night classes at Burdett College and later moved to Washington, DC were he applied for government employment.
When World War II started, George joined the US Army, and served with the 287th. Ordnance Medium Maintenance Co., he saw action in New Guinea and the Bismartck Archipolage. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Good Conduct and Victory Medal. George returned home and was employed as a postal clerk for US Post Office working most of his forty-two years at the South Boston Postal Annex, he later retired in 1983. He was a parishioner of the Annunciation Cathedral in Boston, for many years.
George and his loving wife Grace and family, just celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary last November. George had attended all the Malden High School Football games for many years and was a former member of his high school band.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Yanakopoulos, his daughter, Evelyn Festa of Melrose, his son Louis Yanakopoulos of Malden, and his sister Mary Chiavelli of Everett.
He was preceded in death by his father James Yanakopoulos, his mother Efthemia Harites, his sister's Julia Serelis, Anastasia Paicopolos, his brothers John Yanakopoulos, and Paul Yanakopulos.
He was born February 27, 1918 in Boston, MA the son of late James and Efthemia (Harites) Yanakopoulos. He served in the Army during World War II having attained the rank of Tec 4. He enlisted on November 20, 1942 at Ft. Myer, VA and was discharged on January 19, 1946 at Ft. Devens, MA.

Alfred A. Young
Alfred A. Young, 87, a retired postman for US Post Office, where he worked for years, died Saturday, August 24, 2002 at his home in Medford, Massachusetts. Al was born in Woburn and educated in Woburn and Stoneham schools graduating from Stoneham High School with the Class of "32". He was employed at the Boston Navy Yard as a boiler maker prior to WWII. He was drafted into the US Army where he served in the European Theatre. When he was discharged he became a Postman for the US Post Office with routes in Medford And Boston retiring in 1975. Al has bee a resident of Malden for over fifty years having previously resided in Stoneham and Woburn. He served as the Commissioner of Malden's Veteran's Services Malden for over seven years under Mayor James Conway, and served as the mayor's Vice Chairman for the Council on Aging. He also ran for Mayor of Malden in 1983. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post # 69, as well as a past Finance Chairman of the Club. He was also a member of Malden VFW Post 639 of Malden. Mr. Young had resided in Malden for over 50 yrs.
He is survived by his son Alfred D. and his wife Irene M. Young of Medford, his daughter, Sandra and her husband Donald V. Dortona of Malden, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Helen Alena Yow
Helen A. (Soule) Yow, 79, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at the Dexter House Nursing Home in Malden, MA. Helen was born in Wakefield, and while growing up, she lived in Wakefield, Melrose, and Malden, completing her education in the Malden Schools. She worked as a nurses aid for a number of nursing homes in the area for several years. At the age of thirty she married her sweetheart Donald, and the two would share the next thirty four years until his passing in 1989. Helen was an active member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Malden where she sang in the choir and participated in the social groups there. She was also very fond of cats. Mrs. Yow lived in Malden, MA for over fifty years.
She is survived by her son, David K. Yow of Lynn and her sister, Lillian A. Mc Gough of Malden.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald H. Yow and her sister Arline Nelson.
She was born April 12, 1925 in Wakefield, MA he daughter of the late George H. and Moria (Pendleton) Soule.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Thursday, from 4-8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 3, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. in the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home. Rev. Ruth R. Oduor Pastor of the Christ United Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
Emmanuel Jean Yoyo
Emmanuel Jean Yoyo, 79, died Saturday, December 13, 2003 at Mass General Hospital in Boston. Emmanuel was born and raised in Haiti, completing his education there. He served a career in the military, and after retiring from the service, he came to the US in 1969. He settled in Brooklyn NY. He lived in NY until moving to the Boston area around 1987. First living in Chelsea, he moved to Malden in 1995, and has lived there since. After moving to the states, he worked for many years in the hotel industry, and also as an insurance salesman.
He is survived by his wife Sorvena of Malden, MA, his children Serge Yoyo of Chelsea, Jeanfritz Yoyo of Chelsea, Guerda Philippe of Malden, Edwins Yoyo of Chelsea, Cornaz Yoyo of Brooklyn, NY, Soeurette Yoyo of Littleton, Carine Jean-Baptiste of Randolph, Donald Yoyo of Everett, Patrick Yoyo of Hobokin, and his sister, Christiane Joseph of PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noelfils and Morina (Antoine) Yoyo, and his son Lionel Yoyo.
He was born December 25, 1923 in, Haiti, the son of Noelfils and Morina (Antoine) Yoyo.
Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, Malden, on Friday, Dec 19th from 6 - 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at The First Nazarene Church of Malden, 529 Eastern Ave. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
Irene Catherine Zardis
Irene Catherine Zardis, 78, a retired registered nurse for Home for Little Wanderers, where she worked for years, died Tuesday, January 08, 2002 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. Irene was born and raised in Chelsea. She attended and graduated from the St. Rose School. After graduating, she studied nursing at Holy Ghost Hospital, and received her degree. She worked as a nurse in NY for some time, and then returned to the Boston area and worked at the Home for Little Wanderers for many years, until her retirement.
She was a dedicated member of St. Josephs Parish in Malden, and also a past member of the Catholic Daughters of St. Joseph. In recent years, ailments limited her activities, but she still enjoyed knitting, reading, and crossword puzzles, as well as catching her favorite game shows on TV. Mrs. Zardis lived in Malden for the past 45 Years.
She is survived by her son Stephen J. Zardis of Brockton, her sisters Madelyn Graham of Saugus, MA, Marylou Crannell of Malden, Florence Baker of Malden, Elizabeth Marshall of Brockton, Patricia Bishop of Everett, and her brothers John Mac Farlane of California, James Mac Farlane of Malden, Charles Mac Farlane of Chelsea, and Robert Mac Farlane of Revere.
She was preceded in death by her husband Manny, her father John Mac Farlane, her mother Catherine Mc Arthur, as well as 5 Brothers, and 4 Sisters.
She was born October 14, 1923 in Chelsea, Massachusetts the daughter of John and Catherine (Mc Arthur) Mac Farlane.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Friday from 4-8 PM.

Mary Ellen Zinchuk
Mary Ellen Zinchuk, 77, died Thursday, July 26th 2001 at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham, MA. Mary was born in Boston and educated in Chelsea schools and after her marriage moved to Malden where she resided for eighteen years moving to Melrose in 1957 where she resided until moving to Saugus in 1968. Mrs. Zinchuk had lived in Saugus, MA. for the past 32 years.
She is survived by her son, James Zinchuk of Stoneham, her daughter, Mary E. Morrison of Peabody, her sisters; Grace Cayon of Carver, and Dorothy Lewis of Malden and her cousin, Lorraine Bird of Chelsea and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Zinchuk and her brother John A. Mc Hatton. of Chelsea.
She was born June 27, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Williams) Mc Hatton.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
