Ms. Rose Marion Reese, 88, of West Washington Street in Newnan passed away Nov. 28, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born April 20, 1908, Ms. Reese was the daughter of James Henry Reese and Beatrice Tidwell. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lightfoot Henry Reese, and sisters, Ladonia Reese, Beatrice Reese, Minnie Reese Fleming, Carolyn Tidwell Reese, Margaret Reese, Thelma Catherine Reese and Orteal Hortense Reese.
Ms. Reese attended McClelland Academy in Newnan and pursued careers in insurance and nursing.

Miss Duchess Renee Smith, 19, of Lora Smith Road in Newnan passed away in Newnan.
She was the granddaughter of the late James R. and Mary Nell Thrash.

DR. C.W. WATSON
Dr. C.W. Watson, 54, of Newnan died Dec. 3, 1996 at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta.
Dr. Watson was born April 25, 1942 on a farm near Bowdon, the son of the late Alex and Elizabeth Watson. He enjoyed working with his father, a veterinarian. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ira Watson.
Dr. Watson graduated from Bowdon High School and attended Antioch Bible College and Luther Rice Seminary. He held master's and doctorate degrees from Immanuel Bible College in Sharpsburg.
Dr. Watson began his ministry in 1964 as pastor of Unity Baptist Church at Roosterville. He later served Bethel East in Graham, Alabama and Eureka Baptist and Central Baptist in Carrollton, Kansas Baptist in Bowdon, Bethlehem Baptist in Rockmart and Riverside Baptist in Tallapoosa.
Since 1978, he had been pastor of Mills Chapel Baptist Church in Newnan. Many were touched by his teaching. Under his leadership, the church moved from 64 East Washington St. to a massive facility on Bullsboro Drive on Oct. 3, 1993. It was a longtime dream of Dr. Watson's for the church to have a new, highly visible location.
Services were held Dec. 5 at Mills Chapel Baptist Church, with interment
at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Rachel Bedenbaugh Whittington, 87, of Bridge Street in Senoia died Nov. 30, 1996 at her home.
Born in Meriwether County, Mrs. Whittington was the daughter of the late W.H. and Marietta Swygart Bedenbaugh. She graduated from Senoia High School in 1929.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Whittington graduated from Grady Hospital School of Nursing on Oct. 24, 1931. She worked as a nurse for many years, spending the last years of her career at Newnan Hospital before retiring in 1970.
She was a member of Mount Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Haralson.

Mrs. Lounette Sewell Chatham, 101, of Parks Avenue in Newnan died Dec. 2, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born July 26, 1895 in the Happy Valley community of Coweta County, Mrs. Chatham was the daughter of the late Thomas M. Sewell and Pricilla J. (Hobgood) Sewell. She was the widow of Homer Chatham. She was the oldest living member of her family, having been preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters and two half sisters.
Before her death, Mrs. Chatham was the oldest member of Macedonia Church, which she joined at age 9. A member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter 599, she was the chapter's only member whose father served during the Civil War.
Funeral services were held Dec. 3 at McKoon Funeral Home with Dr. William Suttles officiating, assisted by the Rev. Searcy Jackson. Interment
followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
