Mrs. Sarah Virginia Talley of East Point died Dec. 1, 1996.
Funeral services were held Dec. 4 (today) at Howard L. Carmichael and Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Eldrena Talley of Newnan; nephews; great-nephews and nieces.

MRS. RUBY WYNELL TARLETON
Mrs. Ruby Wynell Tarleton, 75, of Tommy Lee Cook Road in Newnan died Dec. 1, 1996 in Newnan.
Born Sept. 19, 1921 in Georgia, Mrs. Tarleton was the daughter of the late H.D. and Pauline (Powell) Hall. She was the widow of Judge William H. Tarleton.
A member of Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church, Mrs. Tarleton was retired from the wrapping department at the William L Bonnell Company.
Funeral services were held Dec. 4 (today) at Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sean Robinson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Charles Grovenstein. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.
Serving as pallbearers were David Smith, Jimmy Smith, Billy Smith, Ian Goldenburg, Bryant Mills, Kenneth Gilespie and Charles Jackson.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Young of Newnan; grandchildren, Timothy A. Young and Abby Lynn Hargrove, both of Newnan; brothers, Robert Hall of Decatur, Pate Hall of New York; and sister-in-law, Pluma Hall Scaggs of New York.

Mrs. Mary Brooks Bowie, 90, formerly of Coweta County died Nov. 21, 1996.
Born Dec. 25, 1905 in Haralson, Mrs. Bowie was the daughter of the late Carlton and Effie (Carlton) Brooks and the widow of Horace Bowie. She was a homemaker and had been a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church since 1930.
Funeral services were held Nov. 23 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Dean officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with David Bowie, Mac McClain, Eugene Estep, James Barnett and Jack Estep serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include her daughters, Martha B. Collins of Covington, Linda B. Barnett of Hiram, Roma Christine of Monticello; sons, Norman Bowie of Newnan, Horace Bowie of Holly Springs; sister, Frances B. Cole of Hogansville; and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Leon Brinson, 48, of Fairburn passed away Nov. 18, 1996 at Atlanta Hospice.
Born Dec. 13, 1947 in Coweta County, Mrs. Brinson was a member of Sims Avenue Church of Christ in Atlanta.

Mrs. Frances Bernice (Reese) Brown, 64, of Kelly Farm Road in Newnan died Nov. 25, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born Sept. 14, 1932 in Carroll County, Mrs. Brown was a member of Eat Newnan Baptist Church. She was retired from Southern Mills and worked as a seamstress and printer.
Funeral Services were held Nov. 27 (today) at East Newnan Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Waldron officiating, assisted by the Rev. Billy Ball and the Rev. Travis Eidson.
Interment followed at Ramah Baptist Church with Clifford Wright, Ronald J. Kimble, Cullen King, Roy King, Wayne Littleton Brown and Dan Loftin serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Gene Brown of Newnan; son, Bobby G. (Dana) Brown of Luthersville; sister, Mrs. J.L. (Lenora) Brown of Newnan; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Ella B. Hart, 71, of Douglasville and a former resident of Hogansville, died Nov. 23, 1996 at Douglas Promina Hospital.
Born Sept. 30, 1925 in LaGrange, Mrs. Hart was the daughter of the late Allen and Claudia Elder Stone. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville and was retired from Uniroyal Inc.
Funeral services were held Nov. 25 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Will Fisher and the Rev. Donald Stone officiating. Interment followed at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville with her nephews serving as pallbearers.

MRS. IRENE G. HAY
Mrs. Irene G. Hay, 90, of Grantville died Nov. 21, 1996 at the home of her daughter in Grantville.
Born July 24, 1906 in Pittsburgh, Mrs. Hay was the daughter of the late David and Freda Barngart Bryant. Before moving to Grantville 15 years ago, she lived in Atlanta.
Mrs. Hay was a member of Martha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past-president of the West End Businesswomens' Association. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Grantville and the Grantville Senior Center.
Funeral services were held Nov. 23 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Kara Stalcup and the Rev. Ellis Freeman officiating. Interment followed at Grantville Cemetery with Lamar Byrd, John Shore, Todd Cole, Randy Goodman, Scott Freeman and Todd Statham serving as pallbearers.

MRS. MARY ANN LAMLE
Mrs. Mary Ann Lamle, 68, of Wyngate Drive in Newnan died Nov. 22, 1996 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta.
Born March 8, 1928 in Huntington County, Ind., Mrs. Lamle was the daughter of the late Maynard and Murl Phebus Hartman. She was a teacher and a homemaker.
Mrs. Lamle was a member of the Mended Hearts of Georgia, Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City and the White Oak Ladies' Golf Association. She was a rose gardener and was involved with the National Arbor Day Foundation.
Mrs. Lamle graduated from Jefferson Center High School in Whitley County in 1946 and Ball State University in 1950. She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service was held Nov. 24 at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Weber officiating.
Funeral services were held Nov. 27 (today) at Myers Funeral Home in Huntington, Ind. Interment will follow at Pleasant Chapel Cemetery in Huntington County.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Lamle; daughters, Mrs. James (Kathi) Stopher of Neenah, Wis., Mrs. Eric (Karin) Marrero of Mobile, Ala.; sisters, Mrs. Stewart (Maxine) Dougall of Prescott, Ariz., Mrs. Charles (Bonnie) Jernstedt of Beverly Hills, N.J., Mrs. Kay (Neome) Dodd of Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. La Verne (Martha) Kaltoff of Omaha, Neb.; brother, William Clouse of Alden, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas Franklin McDowell, 66, of Menefee Street in Palmetto died Nov. 21, 1996 at his home.
Born Oct. 19, 1930 in Coweta County, Mr. McDowell was the son of the late Albert M. and Susie Flora (Crumbley) McDowell. He was retired from Delta Air Lines after 38 years of service and a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Nov. 23 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Hicks and the Rev. Travis Eidson officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with his nephews serving as pallbearers.

MR. JOHN E. MILLER
Mr. John E. Miller, 68, of Alder Drive in Newnan died Nov. 22, 1996 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.
Born March 17, 1928 in Paulding County, Mr. Miller was the son of the late John Ezekiel Miller Sr. and Effie (Cole) Miller. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newnan for 40 years, a past president of the Post-Mizpah Sunday School Class and a member of the Swinging Seniors Choir.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Miller was a member of the TLC Club, the Newnan-Coweta Camping Club and a past president of the Coweta Chapter of the American Association for Retired Persons.
Mr. Miller was the retired owner and founder of Lullaby Nursery. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Leigh Anne Meadows, and sisters, Nancy Savannah Kiker, Jewell Miller and Agnes Miller.
Funeral services were held Nov. 24 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Parrish officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jay Sutton. Interment followed at Forest Law Memorial Park with Tommy Wingo, Stan Melton, Perry Melton, Ted Miller, Michael Miller and Mike Fleming serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Esma (Dorough) Miller of Newnan; daughter, Wesley and Delilah Meadows of Savannah; son, Randy and Jane Miller of Carrollton; grandchildren, Wes Meadows, Anna Meadows, both of Savannah, Jenny Miller of Carrollton; sisters, Ruby Gordon of Waco, Alma Awtry of Bremen, Vada Melton of Mableton, Brooksie Jackson of Graham, Ala.; and brothers, Curtis Miller of Mableton and Winfred Miller of Waco.

MR. ROBERT DeLAY ROYAL
Mr. Robert DeLay Royal, 71, of Royal Drive in Newnan, died Nov. 18, 1996 at Newnan Hospital.
Born December 14, 1924, in Woodland, Georgia, Mr. Royal was the son of the late James M. Royal and Katie Butler Royal. He moved to Newnan as a child.
Upon graduation from Newnan High School, Mr. Royal joined the U.S. Army Air Force with his graduation from pilot training coming at the close of World War II. Serving in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, he was recalled to active duty in 1951.
While stationed in Korea, 1st Lt. Royal flew 100 missions as pilot of a F-84 Thunderjet and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster.
Mr. Royal attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He worked with his family at Royal Manufacturing Company and at the time of his retirement was vice president and general manager of Royal Molded Products, a division of Olsonite Corporation.
Mr. Royal was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Through the years, he served as chairman of the Administrative Board, chairman of the Council on Ministries, chairman of the Finance Committee and chairman of the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee.
He also served as a lay delegate to the North Georgia Conference and president of the Friendship Sunday School Class.
Mr. Royal was active in community affairs, serving as cubmaster of Cub Pack #41 for 10 years, president of Atkinson School PTA, a board member of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Newnan Country Club.
Funeral services were held Nov. 21 at the First United Methodist Church of Newnan with the Rev. Gary Parrish, the Rev. Art O'Neil officiating, assisted by Dr. Dan Brewster.
Interment followed at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Pallbearers were nephews Dan Umbach, Bobby Royal, Scott Royal, Bill Royal, Jim Royal and Mayo Royal, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Settle Royal; daughter Susan Royal Pierce; sons Danny Royal, David (Beth) Royal, all of Newnan, Stewart (Jane) Royal of Duluth; grandson Ted (Dawn) Pierce of Jonesboro; granddaughter, Courtney Pierce of Newnan; brother Mayo (Elizabeth) Royal, Sr. of Newnan; sisters-in-law Mary Royal of Newnan and Audrey Royal of Homestead, Florida; nieces and nephews.

MR. EARL EDWARD (EDDIE) ST. JOHN
Mr. Earl Edward "Eddie" St. John of Forest Park died Nov. 25, 1996 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
He was a plumber.
Funeral services were held Nov. 27 (today) at Parkway Garden Chapel, with the Rev. Hugh Kirby officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Crestwell of Forest Park; son, Benjamin Edward St. John of Griffin; sister, Nita S. McCollum of McDonough; brother, Mike St. John of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

DR. W. CANDLER BUDD
Dr. W. Candler Budd, 87, died Nov. 20, 1996 at Wesley Woods Geriatric Center in Atlanta.
Born. May 22, 1909 in Armstrong, Mo., Dr. Budd was the son of the late Rev. John W. and Susie Clark Budd. He was a retired United Methodist minister at Wesley Woods.
Dr. Budd was educated at Duke University, where he received bachelor's degrees in 1932 and 1934. He received an honorary doctorate degree from LaGrange College.
Although he was a 64-year member of the North Georgia Methodist Conference and pastored at seven churches, Dr. Budd was best known for his work on behalf of children and the elderly.
A primary advocate of the United Methodist Children's Home, he led an effort to build a new facility for the organization, spearheaded its fundraising campaign in the 1950s and served on its board of directors for 40 years.
Dr. Budd also acquired property for the Mountain Top Boys home, a place of alternative incarceration for first-time offenders.
Dr. Budd founded Wesley Woods Geriatric Center, whose immediate care center, Budd Terrace, was named in his honor. He also was instrumental in securing donated land for Simpsonwood, a Methodist retreat center.
A 1986 recipient of the National Hall of Philanthropy Award given by the Methodist Church, Dr. Budd served for three years as district superintendent for the Atlanta-Marietta District of the United Methodist Church.
After beginning his career in Milledgeville at Hardwick United Methodist Church, Dr. Budd served at churches in Mountpelier, Warrenton, Eatonton and Hapeville before moving to Glenn Memorial Methodist Church on the Emory University campus and Northside Methodist in Atlanta.
Funeral services were held Nov. 22 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Bowling, Dr. W. Lawrence Minix Jr. and Dr. E. Malone Dodson officiating. Honorary pallbearers were members of the North Georgia Conference of United Methodist Ministers.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Roundtree Budd; daughters, Lillian Darden of Marietta, Dorothy Murray of Griffin; sons, Warren C. Budd Jr. of Newnan, David O. Budd of Adairsville; brothers, the Rev. James A. Budd of Alpharetta, Francis A. Budd of Marianna, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Foundation of Wesley Woods, 1817 Clifton Road, N.E., Atlanta, Ga., 30329.

Mrs. Ada Lee Crowder, 95, of Georgia Highway 34 in Newnan died Nov. 19, 1996 at the Bryan Center.
Born July 25, 1901 in Georgia. Mrs. Crowder was the daughter of the late Virgil and Maggie (Williams) Thomas and the widow of Mark Hannah Crowder. She was a member of Elim Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Graveside services were held Nov. 20 at the Elim Baptist Church Cemetery in Newnan with the Rev Ron Alderman officiating.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews.

MRS. DOROTHY DAVIS
Mrs. Dorothy Davis, 73, of Happy Valley Circle in Newnan died Nov. 19, 1996 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Born Dec. 20, 1922 in Wisconsin, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late John C.H. Peters and Mary Loretta (Hays) Peters. She was a charter member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church as was retired from Fulton's County's accounting department.
Funeral services were held Nov. 22 at McKoon Funeral Home with Dr. Alton McEachern officiating. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca Coursey of Frederick, Md., Mary Jean Batchelor of Conley, Ga., Patricia Williams of Newnan, Barbara Kosior, formerly of Newnan; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Ola M. Herndon, 84, of Burch Avenue in Newnan passed away Nov. 16, 1996 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Born Sept. 15, 1912 in Coweta County, Mrs. Herndon was a member of Westside Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Evelyn Hayward, and a sister, Everlena Cook.
Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Westside Church of Christ with the Rev. Havis Johnson officiating, assisted by Brother George Mayo and Brother Will Partridge.
Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery with Dederick Barnum, Al Victor Hill, Willie C. Cousin Jr., Stanley Hill, Rodney G. Cousin, Steven Hill, Ernest Cousin Jr., Charles Freeland, Frederick Herndon, Lonnie Freeland and Tony Freeland serving as pallbearers.
