ROSE L. SCHOONOVER PARKER
ADDISON - Rose L. Schoonover Parker, 77, of Apt. 104, 43 William St., Addison, went to be with the Lord Wednesday (March 28, 2001) at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa.
Born in Austinburg, Pa., March 27, 1924, she was the daughter of Lewis and Anna Prentice Schoonover.
She was a 1941 graduate of Knoxville High School and a member of the Tuscarora Baptist Church.
She first wed Rev. Karl Schoonover May 30, 1941. He went to be with the Lord on April 17, 1977. She then married Gerald Parker of Sabinsville, Pa.
During her first marriage, the couple served Baptist churches at Upper Lisle, Ansonville, Pa., Wellsville, and Tuscarora, N.Y.
Besides her husband, she is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Karl (Sherry) Schoonover of Oneonta and Philip (Georgia) Schoonover of Addison; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon (James) Overman of Millersburg, Ohio; daughter-in-law Elaine Apple of Allen Park, Mich.; brothers Robert Schoonover of Knoxville, Pa., and Leon Schoonover of Elkland, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her sons, Dennis and Rev. David Schoonover, and her sister, Ruth Resue.
Friends may call Friday, March 30, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St., Woodhull. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Tuscarora Baptist Church. Rev. L.D. Maxson will officiate, assisted by Rev. George Waggoner. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Austinburg, Pa.

CARL A. LAMPHIER
CANISTEO - Carl A. Lamphier, 82, of Ste. Rte. #36, died today at McAuley Manor in North Hornell following a long illness.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. A funeral service will be held Monday (April 2) at a time to be determined.

HOWARD A. CURRY
BATH - Howard A. Curry, 76, formerly of 5 Delaware Ave., entered into rest Thursday (March 29, 2001) in Taylor Health Center.
Howard was employed by Sears Roebuck and Co., Elsenheimer Chevrolet, Inc. of Hornell, and Bendix Corp. of Elmira. He was predeceased by his wife, June Curry, in 1996, and two brothers-in-law, Alton Scutt and John Trinkle.
Surviving are one brother, Louis Curry of Hunt, N.Y.; four sisters, Norma Scutt of Depew, N.Y., Ruth (Gary) Waldo of Bath, Neva Trinkle of Endicott, and Betty (Edward) Jakubowiski of Rochester; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Calling hours are 1-4 p.m. only at the Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath Saturday, March 31. Funeral and committal services will follow at the conclusion of calling hours at 4 p.m.
Burial will be held in Cameron Mills Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
The family is requesting memorials be made to Finger Lakes Humane Society, 7315 Route 54, Bath, N.Y. 14810 in Howard's memory.

MARTIN ROBERT (BOB) WAGER
COHOCTON - Martin Robert (Bob) Wager, 82, of Potter Hill Road, passed away Thursday (March 29, 2001) at his home after a long illness.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Monday at St. Pius V Roman Catholic Church in Cohocton. Burial will be held in St. Pius Cemetery, Cohocton.

MARY C. (DOLAND) SMITH
HORNELL - Mary C. (Doland) Smith, 71, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Hornell and Almond, died Tuesday afternoon (March 27, 2001) at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y., following a long illness.
Born in Elmira on Feb. 11, 1930, she had resided in the Hornell-Almond area for most of her adult life. She had resided in Zephyrhills, Fla., for the past seven years.
Mary had been employed for about 29 years as nursing administration secretary at St. James Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and also the Hornell American Legion. She was also an avid golfer.
Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Liberatore, and her sister, Natalie Fraze.
She was married in 1986 to Donald "Bub" Smith, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Dan Doland of Rochester and Bill (Barbara) Doland of Celoron, N.Y.; three brothers, Jack (Arlene) Liberatore of Elmira, Phil (Marlene) Liberatore of Elmira, and Pat (Sandy) Liberatore of Montgomery, Texas; one sister, Ann Louise Shaffer of Elmira; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The family of Mary C. (Doland) Smith will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, where funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Kilgore officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Almond.

AUDREY E. HORRELL
CANASERAGA - Audrey E. Horrell, 59, died suddenly Monday (March 26, 2001) at her home at 24 N. Church St.
Born in Batavia on Jan. 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Melburne "Bill" and Elisabeth Williams Tracy.
A former resident of Arcade, Audrey was a graduate of Arcade Central School. She received a bachelor's degree from Geneseo State College and a master's degree from Alfred University.
Audrey resided in Florida for 10 years and in the Hornell and Canaseraga area for the past 15 years.
Her family includes her daughter, Elisabeth Horrell of Rochester; her son, Jonathan Horrell of Gainesville, Fla.; and her brother, James Tracy of Clarence.
At Audrey's request, there will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of her family at Oakwood Cemetery, East Aurora.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in Audrey's memory to the Hornell Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 533, Hornell, N.Y. 14843.

LOUISE K. VANSKIVER
CANISTEO - Louise K. Vanskiver, 76, of 3869 State Route 248, died Tuesday (March 27, 2001) at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville following a brief illness.
Born in the Town of Greenwood, Aug. 13, 1924, a daughter of Lawrence and Helen Butler Knight, she was a lifelong Canisteo area resident. She was a graduate of the former Canisteo High School and had attended a business school in Bath. She had been employed at the former Market Basket and D.L. Fisher Grocery in Canisteo, and later was cafeteria manager for the Canisteo Elementary School.
Louise was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church and had attended the First United Methodist Church in Canisteo. She was a member of the Canisteo Grange #460 for over 50 years, as well as the Pomona Grange and both State and National Grange. She had served as treasurer for the Canisteo Grange for several years, and was also past Jr. Deputy for State Grange. She was a member of both the Southern Tier Senior Citizens and the Greenwood Senior Citizens. She had served as president of the Bennetts Creek Cemetery Association for several years. She had served as chairman for the Milk Promotion Dinners sponsored by the Canisteo Grange as well as many Grange fund-raising functions. Louise will be remembered for her many wedding cakes and cakes for all occasions.
In 1944, she married Wilbur Vanskiver who predeceased her on Jan. 12, 1997. She was also predeceased by her parents and one sister, Alberta Hawkins.
Surviving are one daughter, Joy (Jerry) Hamblin of Greenwood; one son, James (Karen) Vanskiver of Greenwood; three granddaughters, Marylu Vanskiver and Laurie Vanskiver, both of Florida, and Rebekah Hamblin of Greenwood.
The family will be present 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo, where a Grange Memorial Service will be held Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Greenwood Street, Canisteo, with Rev. Carl Chamberlain and Rev. Osceola Wharton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

HENRY GORDON BURD
GREENWOOD - Henry Gordon Burd, 76, of 2609 Main Street, died Friday (March 23, 2001) at the Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla., following a short illness.
Born in Canisteo March 20, 1925, he was the son of George J. and Fern (Carpenter) Burd. He was predeceased by his two brothers, J. Truman Burd and G. Herman Burd, and his sister, Marjorie B. Van Hyning. Surviving are his children, James P. Burd of Greenwood, with whom he resided, and Judy (Ross) Pfingsten of Bradenton, Fla.
A graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1943, Gordon served in the U.S. Army in India and Burma during World War II and was a lifetime member of VFW Post #2250 in Hornell. He was involved in his family's lumber businesses, serving as President of Burd Bros., Inc., in Olean and Vice President of George J. Burd, Inc., in Canisteo. In 1971, he relocated to Florida and became a trucking owner-operator, being leased during most of those years to the Clay Hyder division of Comcar Industries, Auburndale, Fla. He relocated to Greenwood in 1987 and retired as an owner-operator in 1990. After his retirement, he continued to work as a part-time driver for Covered Wagon Train, Inc., of Hornell. In 1999 he returned to Comcar Industries as a truck owner-operator, which he continued to pursue until his recent sudden illness.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.

GRACE M. FOLTS
COHOCTON - Grace M. Folts, 83, passed away Thursday (March 29, 2001) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville after a brief illness.
Grace was born April 17, 1917, in Ogdensburg, N.Y., a daughter of Fred J. and Emma (Northrup) McVean. She was a 1934 graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy and the St. Lawrence University Class of 1938. She later obtained a master's degree in library science from SUNY College at Geneseo. She taught Latin, French, and history at Richville High School (1939-1942), North Cohocton-Atlanta High School (1942-1945), and Wayland Central School (1945-1946). Grace was later a librarian at the Franklin Academy and Prattsburg Central School 1961-1972). She was married in Cohocton on Nov. 16, 1946, to James D. Folts, Sr., her devoted husband. He predeceased her on June 20, 1999.
Grace was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cohocton, where she served for a period as organist and choir director. She was an active member of the Cohocton Historical Society, the Cohocton Lioness Club, and the Wayland-Cohocton Retired Teachers Assoc. She was a founding member of the board of trustees of the Cohocton Public Library. Grace was an accomplished pianist, a lover of Scottish heritage, a skilled needleworker, and a compassionate Christian.
She leaves her three sons, James D. Folts., Jr., of Albany, Jeffrey R. (Janice) Folts of Hatfield, Mass., and David L. Folts of Palmyra; three grandchildren, Justin M. Folts, Julia E. Folts, and Andrew O. Folts; two sisters, Alpha A. McVean and Sarah Robson, both of Ogdensburg; a brother, John L. McVean of Tuscon, Ariz.; three nephews; one niece; and several cousins.
Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Cohocton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Thomas Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery, Cohocton.

MAUDE I. FLICKNER
DANSVILLE - Maude I. Flickner, 85, formerly of Dansville, passed away late Monday evening (March 26, 2001) at the Livingston County SNF in Mt. Morris, where she had been a resident since 1997.
She was born in Cameron, N.Y. on Jan. 11, 1916, a daughter of the late Charles and Blanche Covell Hults. She was predeceased by her children Charlie, Leroy, David, Rodney, Royce, Doris and Lorna Flickner, and her grandchildren Gary, Bobbie, and Pam Flickner.
She was a former member of the South Dansville United Methodist Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose #1130 of Dansville. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, and puzzles.
She is survived by her sons Ronald (Carole) Flickner of Lakeville, Daniel (Nancy) Flickner of Belmont, and Larry (Ann) Flickner of Dansville; three daughters, Dawn Ames and Diane (Charles) Hunt, both of Wayland, and Donna (Bob) Holbrook of Piffard; a brother, Charles (Mary) Hults of Troupsburg; three sisters, Mildred (Bob) Beckwith and Berniece Kramer, both of Dansville, and Lorena Steffen of Arkport; a daughter-in-law, Ella Flickner of Piffard; 25 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Ray Tucker; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with her grandson Rev. Larry Flickner, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in Rogersville Forest Lawn Cemetery, South Dansville.

EDGAR E. BOTTOMLEY
PITTSFORD - Edgar E. Bottomley, 75, died Friday (March 23, 2001) at his home in Pittsford.
Mr. Bottomley was a Navy veteran of World War II, seeing action in the Pacific with Air Group 27, which was attached to the carrier USS Independence.
He was born in Hornell on Nov. 23, 1925, and retired from the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad after 40 years of service.
Mr. Bottomley was the loving husband of Mary Jane (Ogurchak) and dear father of Joseph (Mary), Kathleen (Don) and Karen (deceased 1976); grandfather of Jennifer, Michelle, Christopher, Carrie, and Kevin; and brother of Laura (Guido) and Frank (Phyllis).
A memorial service officiated by the Rev. Jim Mulcahy will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday (March 31, 2001) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell.

FRANK E. VOGT
NORTH HORNELL - Frank E. Vogt, 89, formerly of North Hornell, died Wednesday (Jan. 31, 2001) at Beverly Healthcare in Lakeland, Fla., following a long illness.
A service in memory of Frank will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (March 31, 2001) at the United Methodist Church in Hornell with the Rev. Alan Howe officiating.
Interment will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
Arrangements are with the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., in Hornell.

ADA E. JOHNSTON-LITTLE
CANISTEO - Ada E. Johnston-Little, 86, formerly of Cunningham Creek Road, died Monday (March 26, 3001) at Hornell Gardens, where she had resided the last 3 1/2 years.
She was born July 4, 1914, in Almond to Fay and Sarah Stearns Ferrin. She is predeceased by her husband, Albert Little, and also by Clarence Johnston, whom she lived with for many years. She was also predeceased by two sons, Ernest Little and James Johnston; a sister, Irene George, and two brothers, Charles and William Ferrin.
She was a housewife and mother who loved to sew, crochet, and knit. In earlier years she had worked for the former Gilberts Horseradish Factory in Hornell. She was also a 25-year member of the Canisteo Grange.
Survivors include two sons, Albert (Catherine) Little of Belfast and Gerald Little of Nunda; one daughter, Jane (Charles) Butler of Canisteo; two sisters, Ruby Jennings of Belmont and Alice Stephens of Birdsall; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.

AARON D. BEMBOWER
WAYLAND - Aaron D. Bembower, 42, of 1336 Delaware Ave., Knoxville, Tenn., died unexpectedly March 11, 2001.
He was born Jan. 25, 1959, in Farmington, Maine, the son of Rev. Dean and Vesta Watts Bembower, residing his early life in Farmington. The family moved to Atlanta in 1965. Aaron attended Wayland Central School, Class of 1977. In 1977, Aaron moved to Knoxville, Tenn., where he resided until his death.
Employed in the construction business, he also was involved in sales of antiques and collectibles. Aaron was also an avid reader.
Besides his parents, Rev. Dean and Vesta Bembower, he is survived by three brothers, Michael Bembower, Matthew (Felicia) Bembower, and Andrew (Jane) Bembower; one sister, Rachel (Terry) Smith; and seven nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.

HENRY "HANK" H. WOLCOTT
KILL BUCK/ARKPORT - Henry "Hank" H. Wolcott, 49, of 6445 Rte. 417, was pronounced dead on arrival at Olean General Hospital following a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Rushford, Sunday (March 25, 2001).
Born Oct. 9, 1951, in the Town of Middlebury, N.Y., the son of Henry H. and Elaine Bowen Wolcott, Sr., he was predeceased by his father.
He resided his early years in Dale, N.Y., and was a former resident of Warsaw and Niagara Falls, moving to Kill Buck five months ago.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Disabled Veteran's Association.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved animals.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Elaine and Frank Saunders, Arkport; two sisters, Patricia (Richard) Prusak, Dale, N.Y. and Anna (David Lerza) Wolcott, New Kent, Va.; two brothers, Justin Wolcott, Mt. Morris, and Dale Wolcott, Warsaw; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Robertson Funeral Home, Inc., Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Rev. Michael Childs officiating. Burial will be in Canaseraga Cemetery.

FRED R. NEETZ
SWAIN - Fred R. Neetz, 100, of County Rd. 24, Swain, died Monday (March 26, 2001) at the Livingston County SNF in Mt. Morris, where he had resided since 1995. Fred was the husband of the late Elsie Boyd Neetz, who died in 1985. He was born in Wayland June 14, 1900, the son of the late Fredrick and Ema Brinkett Neetz. Prior to his retirement, Fred had been employed at the Nunda Casket Co. and the Pittsburg-Shawmut-Northern & Erie Railroads. He had also operated a farm that he and Elsie owned. He was a member of the Swain United Methodist Church and a former member of the Canaseraga Grange #1268.
Fred is survived by two sons, Charles (Phyllis) Neetz of Dansville and Leonard (Jeannette) Neetz of Canaseraga; five grandchildren, Cheryl (Kirk) Goodwin of Dansville, Lucinda Lewis of Avoca, Yvonne (John) Heiman of Dansville, Wanda (James) Thompson of Horseheads, and Lisa (Graham) Kingham of Ellijay, Ga.; and two step-grandchildren, Deborah (Steve) Lemen of Dansville and Douglas (Juliet) Shepard of Palmetto, Fla. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren and two nieces.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral Home Inc., 73 Main St., Dansville, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. David Hotchkiss officiating. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery, Dalton.

KEVIN BOND
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Kevin L. Bond, 40, of San Diego, Calif., died suddenly March 17, 2001, in San Diego.
He was born in Canandaigua to Milton L. Bond of Bath and Marcia Bond of Friendship.
He is survived by his parents; a daughter, Shannon McGillivary of Allegany, N.Y.; step-mother Carolyn Bond of Bath; brothers Kenneth Bond of Caneadea, N.Y. and Scott Bond of Belfast, N.Y.; sisters Meredith Bond of Jamestown and Beth Meyers of Jasper; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy J. Bond.
There will be a memorial service held for the immediate family at a later date.

JESSIE O. BARTON
ALFRED - Jessie O. Barton, 92, formerly of Almond and Alfred, died Wednesday (March 21, 2001) at the Highland Health Care in Wellsville.
Born in Portville Dec. 1, 1908, a daughter of Beryl and Susie Ward Bowen, she was a graduate of the former Almond High School, as well as both Oberlin and Smith Colleges. She served with the American Red Cross in Japan during World War II, and had been employed for several years as a social worker for the county of Monroe. She had resided in Alfred since about 1989.
She was married to James Barton, who predeceased her in 1989. She was also predeceased by her nephew, Edward Bowen.
Surviving are her sister, Dorothy Bayless of Wellsville, formerly of Almond; and nieces and nephews, Rose Sciotti of Belmont, Georgia Roberts of Alfred Station, Bill Heller of Almond, Bob Bowen of Brockport, Ward Bowen of Brockport, Donald Bowen of Rochester, Douglas Bowen of Rochester, and Frederick Bayless of Wellsville.
There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Manor Hills Nursing Home in Wellsville on Saturday, April 21, 2001, at 1 p.m. Rev. Patrick Lyons will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Almond.

CLAIR S. DENNIS
CANISTEO - Clair S. Dennis, 88, formerly of 53 South Elm St., Canisteo, entered into rest at the Cortland Memorial Hospital in Cortland on Friday (March 23, 2001) where he had been a patient for three days.
He was born on March 11, 1913, in the town of Jasper, a son of Leon and Clara Ferris Dennis. On Jan. 7, 1945, in Canisteo, he married Elizabeth Stackhouse Skillman, who died Feb. 22, 1995. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Dennis, and sons Randall Dennis and Marvin Skillman, and two brothers, David and Duane Dennis.
Clair lived the greater part of his life in Canisteo and was a graduate of the Canisteo Academy and had attended Alfred Ag. Tech. He had worked and retired as a carpenter for the NYS Dept. of Transportation in Hornell and also had been employed at Home Builders Supply and Hardware in Canisteo.
As a "Pearl Harbor Survivor," Clair had entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1939 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, as a chief warrant officer. He later served in several areas of the South Pacific during World War II and was discharged in December 1945. Being a member of the Marine Corps Reserve, he was later called back during the Korean War.
Forever interested in public service, Clair had served on the Canisteo Central School Board of Education for 10 years and as Canisteo Town Supervisor from 1969-1971 and from 1975-1977, as well as being supportive of his wife, Betty, when she was a Village Trustee and Mayor of Canisteo. Memberships include the First United Methodist Church of Canisteo, the Methodist Men's Group, the Canisteo Civic Club, and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Assoc., Howard I. Sephton Chapter II.
Clair's family includes his sons, Lee (Terre) Dennis of Homer and Steven (Helen) Skillman of Knoxville, Tenn.; his daughter, Andra (Ray) Sweredoski of Scottsville; his daughter-in-law, Jean Skillman of Avoca; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday (March 27) at the H.P. Smith & Son., Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St., Canisteo, where a funeral service will follow calling hours at 3 p.m., with Rev. Carl Chamberlain officiating, and burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo with full military honors.
Memorials in the name of Clair S. Dennis may be made to either the Memorial Fund of the First United Methodist Church of Canisteo, 37 Greenwood St., Canisteo, N.Y. 14823, or to the Kanestio Historical Society, c/o Virginia Dickey, 4150 County Rte. #30, Cameron, N.Y. 14819.
