GLADYS M. WIESMORE
ALFRED STATION - Gladys M. Wiesmore, 81, of 6106 Terbury Road, passed away Saturday (Mar. 31, 2001) at McAuley Manor in North Hornell.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, May 30, 1919, a daughter of John and Edith (Southworth) Gordon, she had made her home in the Buffalo area for several years prior to moving to Alfred Station about 1980. She had attended the Alfred-Almond Bible Church and had been employed as an occupational therapist at the West Seneca Developmental Center for several years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank E. Wiesmore on January 28, 1980, and her son, David L. Wiesmore.
Surviving are her daughter, Marilynn (Rev. Daniel) Kenyon of Alfred Station; five grandchildren, Julie (Jon) Williams, Tera (Danny) Roelle, Jacquelyn Kenyon, Cayce Wiesmore and Melissa (Chad) Hayes; as well as a great-granddaughter, Erica Williams.
The family will be present 7-9 p.m. Monday to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Alfred-Almond Bible Church. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Buffalo.
CATHERINE STEVENS FOLTS
DANSVILLE - Catherine Stevens Folts, 90, of Seward St., died Friday (Mar. 30, 2001) at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 1997. Catherine was the widow of Ralph G. Folts, who died March 20, 1997.
She was born in Dansville January 18, 1911, the daughter of the late Fred and Clara (Vogt) Stevens. Prior to retiring as Assistant Manager of the Instructor Subscription Agency in 1973, Catherine had been employed by the parent company, F.A. Owens Publishing, Co. for over 40 years. She was past president of the Twenty Five Year Club, a 45-year member of the Daniel Goho American Legion Womens' Auxiliary, Legion of Mary, the Sacred Heart League and a lifetime communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Mrs. Folts is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Betty Stevens of Dansville; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Norman and Clarence Stevens, and a sister, Marian Doyle.
Friends and family may call Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral Home, Inc. 73 Main St., Dansville. An American Legion Womens' Auxiliary Prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. The Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. BATH - Baby Michael L. Eggleston died at birth Sunday (June 10, 2001) at St. James Mercy Health in Hornell.
He is survived by his parents, Randy Eggleston and Crystal Simms of Bath; sisters, Ashley and Rachael Eggleston; brothers, Matthew and Lucas Eggleston, all of Bath; maternal grandparents, Deborah and Leonard Fitch of Wayland; maternal great-grandparents, Evalynn and Tracey Harter of Wayland; maternal great-great-grandmother, Katherine Wilkenson of Wayland; paternal grandmother, Phyllis Eggleston of Campbell; paternal grandfather, Donald Eggleston of Addison; paternal great-grandmother, Pauline Gee of Beaver Dams; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

ARKPORT - Ola M. Sawczyszyn, 92, of Stage Road, Arkport, died Monday afternoon (June 11, 2001) at Noyes Memorial Hospital, Dansville, after a long illness.
Surviving are her son, Dana (Rhonda) Sawczyszyn of Arkport; and her sister, Golda Kenyon of Arkport.
There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Arkport Presbyterian Church with Pastor Carrie Stein officiating.

CHARLES H. CONNER JR.
HORNELL - Charles H. Conner Jr., 70, of 153 Sutherby Ave., died Wednesday (June 13, 2001) at Rochester General Hospital.
Born Feb. 6, 1931 in Hornell, he was the son of Charles H. and Elizabeth Galusha Conner Sr. He was married July 15, 1955 in Silver Lake to the former Jacqueline Palmer, who survives. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Richard Conner in 1984.
He was a lifelong resident of the Hornell area and a member of the United Methodist Church of Hornell.
He had worked for over 20 years as a pipe fitter for Ingersoll Rand in Painted Post, retiring in 1996.
Chuck was an outdoor person who enjoyed working in his yard and enjoyed football games.
Survivors besides his wife include, a daughter, Kathleen (Gerald) Schmitt of Hornell; three sons, Allan (Terry) Conner of Dundee, Fla., Thomas (Kathryn) Conner of Andover and Keith Conner of Hornell; three sisters, Jane (Clyde) Wood of Hartsville, Nancy (Gerald) Woolever of Hornell and Linda Conner of Calif.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Robertson Funeral Home, Inc., Hornell, with funeral services immediately following at 9 p.m., with Rev. Alan G. Howe officiating. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

PAUL E. SEAMAN
HORNELL - Paul E. Seaman, 93, of 22 Washington Street, died Tuesday (June 12, 2001) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Hornell, Dec. 30, 1907, a son of Arthur and Catherine Carpenter Seaman, he was a lifelong resident of the city and had worked as an engineer for the Erie Railroad prior to his retirement in 1973.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Hornell, and in his youth was a Golden Gloves Champion in the State of New York. Paul was an avid fisherman, an auction enthusiast and enjoyed repairing clocks.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite White Seaman, in 1997.
Surviving are three daughters, Josephine (Francis) Crowe of Hornell, Nancy (William) Bridge of Bath and Deborah (Robert) Bosworth of Oceanside, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

CANASERAGA - Lois B. Fisher, 82, formerly of Pratt Street, died peacefully Saturday (June 9, 2001) at the home of her friend and caregiver, Sanna Jackson, surrounded by her family.
Born in Palmyra, June 21, 1918, a daughter of Willet and Mildred Horton Brethen, she had resided several years in Rochester and 14 years in Ft. Myers, Fla. She resided in Grand Junction, Colo. from 1998 until moving to Canaseraga in 1994. She worked as a bookkeeper until retiring in 1985.
She was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction, a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #1020 in Ft. Myers, Fla., as well as the Ladies' Auxiliary of the VFW Post #4353 also in Ft. Myers.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis (Frank) X. Fisher in 1981.
Surviving are one daughter, Karen (Donald) Weinhart of Canaseraga; one son, Bruce (Stacia) Brethen of Grand Junction, Colo.; five grandchildren, Lorene Koester, Debra Clymer, Scott (Sue) Brethen, Denise (Joe) Trippi and Jason Weinhart; and one great-grandson, Sean Clymer.
At Mrs. Fisher's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

MARY ELIZABETH GEMMELL
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Mary Elizabeth Gemmell, 83, of 212 Wild Turkey Trail, Chapel Hill, died at Triangle Hospice of the Meadowlands in Hillsborough, N.C. on Wednesday (June 13, 2001).
She was born March 7, 1918 to John and Estell Robbins of Arkport. She graduated from Fredonia Normal School and taught kindergarten in Mayville, N.Y. for one year before she married James Gemmell, her partner-in-life until his death in 1986, 46 years later.
She and her husband came to Chapel Hill in 1979 after spending 16 years as president and first lady of Clarion State University in Clarion, Pa.
In Chapel Hill they were members of University Presbyterian Church. Mary Gemmell was preceded in death by her husband; her sister, June Segebarth of Chapel Hill; and her brother, Ivan Robbins of Hornell.
She is survived by her three children, Kathleen of Ithaca, J. Christopher of Alexandria, Va. and Ted K. Gemmell of Paoli, Pa.; four grandchildren, Troye and Paul Platt and J. Perry and Mathew Gemmell.
A memorial service will be held at University Presbyterian Church June 15 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Triangle Hospice at Meadowlands or Stevens Ministry at University Presbyterian Church.

ROBERT E. MEYERS
ARKPORT - Robert E. Meyers, 71, of 51 West Ave., died Tuesday (June 12, 2001) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell.
Born in North Hornell, May 13, 1930, a son of George and Rosamond Wyant Meyers, he had resided his entire life in this area. He was a graduate of Arkport Central School, Class of 1948 and had served in the United States Air Force from 1948-1952.
Bob had been employed by NYSEG as a chief lineman for 38 years prior to his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the American Bowling Association, the Arkport American Legion, Southern Tier C.A.R.S. Association and was an official for the Western New York Sports Committee. He was well known as an announcer for Motor Cross events.
Bob had owned and operated Bob's 300 Shop in Arkport from 1971-1995. He will be remembered for his love of Antique Car Shows, the Buffalo Bills, motorcycles, bowling and most importantly for his devotion to his entire family.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Keyes Meyers of Arkport; two daughters, Wendy (Steve) Kimball of Hornell and Cassandra (Jeff Cooper) Meyers of Arkport; four sons, Nathan (Karen) Meyers of Hornell, George (Michelle) Meyers of Arkport, Rhett Meyers of Gettysburg, Va. and Douglas (Deanna) Meyers of Canaseraga; one step-daughter, Sheryll (Michael) Delia of Canisteo; one step-son, Christopher (Sara) Kurtz of Canisteo; one sister, Rosalie (John) Jamison of Arkport; one brother, Claude (Carolyn) Meyers of Spencerport; 17 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The family will be present from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell. BUFFALO - John K. Barager, 90, formerly of Nunda, died Thursday (June 7, 2001).
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
John was predeceased by his wife, Roslyn.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Barager of Cheektowaga; and his brother, David Barager of Hunt.

NELLE JANELLO
HORNELL - Nelle Janello of 74 Jane St., died Monday afternoon (June 11, 2001) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where she had been a patient for the past two months.
Born in Spartanburg, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Essie Brewington Petty.
A graduate of Spartanburg High School, Nelle has resided in Hornell for the past 54 years.
On Oct. 12, 1946 she was married at St. Ann's Church in Hornell to Ralph J. Janello, D.D.S., who predeceased her on Nov. 24, 2000.
She assisted her husband in his dental practice as a dental assistant for 50 years, retiring in 1989.
Nelle was a communicant of St. Ann's Church and was a member of the St. James Mercy Hospital Auxiliary for over 50 years.
Her family includes her sister-in-law, Louise Janello of Hornell.
Besides her parents and husband, Nelle was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Josephine Janello on April 24, 1995.
There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Church. Committal prayers and interment
will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery, Hornell.

KATHLEEN D. CAMPBELL
CANISTEO - Kathleen D. "Kay" Campbell, 81, of Bennetts Creek Road, entered into rest at the Hornell Gardens Nursing Home in Hornell on Tuesday (June 12, 2001), where she had resided since Sept. 2000.
She was born in Galeton, Pa., on Dec. 17, 1919, a daughter of the late George and Lucinda Johnston Ludwig. On Dec. 19, 1935 in Galeton, Pa., she married Russell Campbell, who died in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Henry, Albert and George Ludwig; and two sisters, Mary Burdick and Sally Miller; and a grandson, Norman Everett Stewart.
Kay had lived the greater part of her life in the town of Canisteo and had worked at the Stern & Stern Silk Mill in Canisteo and later worked at Westinghouse in Bath, retiring in 1982 as an Inspector in Quality Control with 30 years of service. She had attended the Hornell Gospel Center and presently was a member of the Bennetts Creek Bible Church. A loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, her flower garden and most of all, her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Russell (Stella) Campbell of Bath and Leonard (Jane) Campbell of Slate Creek, Canisteo; her daughter, Beatrice (Norman) Stewart of Andover; her sister, Lena Watson of Coudersport, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo. A funeral service will be held at the Bennetts Creek Bible Church on State Route #248 at 11 a.m. on Friday, with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.

WESLEY ALLEN FLOWER
ORANGEVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Wesley Allen Flower, 70, died peacefully at his home Sunday (June 3, 2001).
Flower was born Feb. 8, 1931 in Birdsall, the son of Walter and Laura (Currier) Flower.
He graduated from Canaseraga High School. At the age of 20, he entered the U.S. Air Force where he was trained in Biloxi, Miss., and then was stationed at Newfoundland for two years as a Radar Technician. Wesley attended and graduated in 1958 with a degree in Chemical Engineering from New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse University.
On Aug. 23, 1958 he was united in marriage to Jean F. (Fort) Flower, who survives. They lived in Spring Valley, Ohio and raised two daughters, Kimberly (Scott) Fisher of Holland, Mich. and Kristina (Roger) Bolhouse of Clarksville, Mich., all surviving.
Wesley worked for Howard Paper Mills of Dayton, Ohio, where he implemented innovative wastewater treatment programs and wrote several papers for the paper industries. He developed a Christmas tree plantation on his country property and won the 1977 Conservation Award. He and his family moved up to Orangeville Township, where he started his own business "The Stockbroker," where he designed and built customized German Mausersrifles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Russell and Joseph Flower.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters; a grandson, Garrett Fisher; a sister, Roma Archer of Troupsburg; a niece, Roma Ann Karnes of Rochester; a nephew, Bill Archer; and a large following of satisfied customers and loyal friends.

CORFU - Joyce Plaisted Schwartz, 84, of Boyce Road, Corfu, formerly of Canisteo and Hornell, entered into rest at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia on Monday (June 11, 2001) following a long illness.
She was born on July 2, 1916 in the Town of Troupsburg, a daughter of Edward Leroy (Roy) and Alice Rae Colegrove Plaisted. She was predeceased by her husbands, Gerald Ford, Henry Crane and John Schwartz; and her two brothers, Walter B. Plaisted and Rodney Plaisted.
Joyce was a graduate of the Troupsburg High School and Geneseo Normal School with a certificate in education. She taught in the rural school districts in the Town of Troupsburg, and later at Greenwood Central School, Jasper Central School, Troupsburg Central School and Corfu Central School. She was a substitute teacher at the Canisteo Central School. She had lived in Canisteo and Hornell for 10 years prior to moving to Corfu, where she resided with her daughter, Patricia Neamon.
Joyce's family includes her two daughters, Kay Leinaweaver of Carlisle, Pa. and Patricia Neamon of Corfu; her sister, Jocelyn Lawson of Williamsville; two granddaughters, Rori Kuhns and Lisa Baker; two great-granddaughters, Samantha Baker and Leigh Baker; and three nieces.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Young Hickory Cemetery, in the Town of Troupsburg.

MT. MORRIS - Martha Pickard Bryant, 78, of 2437 Ridge Road, Mount Morris, died Sunday (June 10, 2001) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
She was born the daughter of Wayne and Grace (Redmond) Pickard on April 15, 1923. She was currently employed for over 50 years at Dansville Dental Professionals as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Keshequa Golf Club in Sonyea and the Wednesday Morning Bowling League at Mt. Morris Lanes.
She is survived by three children, Carol (Tom) Roffe of Canisteo, Cynthie (Randy) Luehman of Dalton and Lt. Col. Mark C. (Deborah) Bryant of Tullahoma, Tenn; seven grandchildren, Danielle Roffe of Queens, Heather Hoffe of Rochester, Marlee Luehman and Kari Luehman, both of Maine, Raena, Tori and Glenn Bryant, all of Tenn.; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond "Stub" Bryant in 2000; and two brothers, Howard and Robert Pickard.
Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 1-3 p.m. at the family home at 2437 Ridge Road, Mount Morris, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m.

KNOXVILLE, Pa. - Richard F. Stewart, 76, of RD #1, Knoxville, Pa., passed away Sunday (June 10, 2001) unexpectedly.
Born in Elkland, Pa., Jan. 20, 1924, he was the son of Floyd and Mildred Houghton Stewart.
He was a graduate of Knoxville High School, was an Army Air Corp. veteran of World War II, and was a retired maintenance supervisor from the Green Home of Wellsboro, Pa.
He married Jeanette Allen, Feb. 26, 1946, she survives.
Also surviving are his son, Dennis Stewart of Knoxville, Pa.; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen (Chuck) Heatwole of Corydon, Ind., Debra (Tim) Mulhollen of Hornell and Julie Conrad of Wellsboro, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

ANDOVER - Leo T. Joyce, 94, of 6 Center St., Andover, died Sunday (June 10, 2001) at the Wellsville Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Oct. 15, 1906 in Andover, son of Thomas and Mary Dixon Joyce. On Oct. 12, 1930 in the Town of Alfred, he married Agnes Lynch, who predeceased him Feb. 15, 1999.
Leo Joyce attended school in Andover and had owned and operated his own dairy farm, retiring in 1965. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church of Andover.
Surviving are sons, Jack (Patricia) Joyce of Andover and Tom Joyce, also of Andover; daughters, Jane (Thomas) Cronin of Canisteo and Agnes (Jack) Bush of Wellsville; daughters-in-law, Betty Joyce of Andover and Irene Joyce of Scranton, Pa.; brother, Joseph Joyce of Andover; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, Agnes, he was predeceased by sons, Gerald Joyce in 1981, Leo D. Joyce in 1999; one sister; and three brothers.
There will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a funeral mass Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Andover Blessed Sacrament Church, with Father Gene Ulrich of St. Brendan Church, Almond, officiating. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Andover.
