MARGARET L. KUHN
WAYLAND-DANSVILLE - Margaret L. Kuhn, 90, formerly of 15 Clay St., Dansville, died Tuesday (June 12, 2001) at the LeRoy Village Green in LeRoy, where she had resided for the past three years.
Margaret was born July 27, 1910 in Dansville, the daughter of Charles and Mary Marx Mader, residing her early life in Dansville, and resided in Wayland for 29 years prior to moving back to Dansville in 1970. She married Leonard P. Kuhn in Dansville on April 15, 1937. He predeceased her in 1965.
She was a communicant of both St. Mary's Church in Dansville and a past communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Wayland and a past member of the Altar Rosary Society.
Margaret was a past member of the Home Bureau.
She is survived by three daughters, Carol (David) Genova of Rochester, Sister Barbara Kuhn, S.S.J. of Rochester and Mary Lou (Dennis) Chapman of Caledonia; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Chester Mader of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Prayer services will be conducted in the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Wayland. Interment
will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

GARETT MICHAEL "MIKE" WELTY
REXVILLE - Garett M. Welty, 20, of McDonald Road, died Sunday (June 10, 2001) in the Town of Independence as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Feb. 21, 1981 in Hornell to Lee and Connie Payne Welty. He was a graduate of Whitesville Central School, Class of 2000, and Allegany B.O.C.E.S. Machine Tool Operations, Class of 2000. He was a member of the Allegany/Steuben Holstein Club, 4H member of the Holstein Club for 11 years, and a Junior member of the New York State Holstein Club. He was also an avid hunter and stock car enthusiast. He was presently employed as a herdsman at the Philip Lehman Dairy Farm in Harrison Valley, Pa.
He is survived by his parents, Lee and Connie Welty of Rexville; a daughter, Mandy Marie; a brother, Todd Welty of Rexville; one sister, Holly Welty of Pulaski, Va.; two nephews, Cameron and Devin Welty; his grandparents, Ronald and Marilyn Payne of Jasper; grandmother, Roberta Krusen of Jasper and Olive Strait of Hornell; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St., Canisteo, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Todd Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Woodhull Cemetery, Woodhull.
LLOYD W. BAIRD
HORNELL - Lloyd W. Baird, 70, a resident of the Big Elms Trailer Park, died Saturday (June 9, 2001) at McAuley Manor.
Born in Hornell August 8, 1930, a son of Walter and Marie (Shull) Baird, he was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1950, and had served for two years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He had resided his entire life in Hornell, and had worked for the former Hornell City Delivery, the Hornell City Garage, McDermott's Mobil Station and for several taxi companies, including JB's Taxi in Hornell. He was a member of the Hornell Post American Legion.
He was predeceased by one sister, Betty Hoad.
Surviving are four daughters, Susan (David) Kuhn of Dansville, Rayetta (Michael) McLean of Rochester, Nancy (Scott) Evans of Hornell and Cynthia (Steve) Burley of Hornell; two sisters, Beatrice Vicari of Arizona and Etta (Carl) Poyer of West Almond; as well as several grand and great-grandchildren.
The family will be present from 4-6 p.m. Monday to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell, where funeral services will follow calling hours at 6 p.m. Rev. Terry Kelly will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

DEAN SAMUEL COTTON
FRIENDSHIP - Dean Samuel Cotton, 39, of 90 East Main St., died Thursday (June 7, 2001) as the result of an accident on Co. Rd. 20 in the town of Friendship.
Born September 15, 1961 in Cuba, he was the son of George H. and Eva L. (Hadsell) Cotton. On July 23, 1987 in Friendship, he married the former Linda Hanner, who survives.
Mr. Cotton had resided most of his life in Friendship and was a 1979 graduate of Friendship Central School. For a short period of time, he insulated houses in Orlando, Florida, and after returning to Friendship was for several years a small engine repairman at Miller and Brandes Store in Friendship. In 1984, he was employed at Friendship Daries, Inc., where he eventually became the lead man in the powder warehouse and was employed there at the present time. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and was a NASCAR enthusiast.
He was a member and commander of the Sons of American Legion Post # 1168 in Friendship; member and past president of the Allegany Co. Volunteer Fireman's Association; member of the Driftbuster's Snowmobile Club of Cuba and member of the Teamster's Union Local #249.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Eva Baker of Friendship; his father and step-mother, George H. and Jacqueline Cotton of Friendship; maternal grandmother, Evelyn A. Jones of Bolivar; a daughter, Ashley M. Cotton of Friendship; two stepdaughters, Wendy S. (Wayne) Minges of Cuba and Christy L. (Marshall) Grubbs of Friendship; two granddaughters, three brothers, Bruce T. (Jeannie) Cotton of Rochester, Brian C. (Linda) Cotton of Rochester and Dale G. Cotton of Friendship; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Truesdell Funeral Home in Friendship from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Friendship United Church. The Rev. ELEANOR M. HOWELL
HORNELL - Eleanor M. Howell, 81, formerly of 199 East Ave., went to be with the Lord Monday (Aug. 13, 2001) at McAuley Manor.
Born in Hornell July 24, 1920, a daughter of Frank and Julia Clark, she had been employed at the former Hornell Dress Factory, and had been a lifelong Hornell resident.
Eleanor was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Hornell Moose Lodge, a member of the Hornell Senior Citizens and active in the Hornell Chapter of RSVP. She was known for her artistic abilities, crafts, sewing, crocheting and knitting.
She was predeceased by her husband, Horace Howell; one son, Rodney Howell; and 14 brothers and sisters.
Surviving are one son, Delroy (June) Howell of Montour Falls; two sisters, Louise Barron of Almond and Carolyn Hollowell of Arkport; one brother, Merwin (Norma) Clark of Almond; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. Tuesday to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow in Arkport Cemetery.

MARGARET E. LOEPKER
DANSVILLE - Margaret E. Loepker, 95, of Cottage Street, Dansville, died Saturday (Aug. 11, 2001) at the Livingston County SNF in Mt. Morris, where she had resided since 1990. Margaret was the wife of the late Isadore H. Loepker, who died Nov. 12, 1982. She was born in Berlin, Germany on April 22, 1906, the daughter of Adolf and Emilie VonSchaum-Kessel Peiler. Mrs. Loepker came to the US in 1923 by the way of Ellis Island, married her husband, Isadore, in Beckermeyer, Ill. in 1926. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a Legion of Mary Auxiliary member.
Margaret is survived by three sons, Isadore B. (Maryann) of LayFayette, Ind., Raymond A. of Brookston, Ind. and Robert of Cohocton; one daughter, Rose E. (Robert) Hayes of Dansville; grandchildren, Mark, Thomas, Christopher, Peter, Joseph, Timothy, Michael, Daniel, Erik and Joshua Loepker, and Linda Hasser, Lois Rausch, Rebecca Ehresman, Jennifer Ward and Julie Acomb; and 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral Home, Inc., 73 Main St., Dansville, where prayers will be said Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. EARL H. BRUNSWICK
N. COHOCTON - Earl H. Brunswick, 58, passed away Wednesday (Aug. 8, 2001) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a long illness.
Earl was born Oct. 4, 1942 in Cohocton, a son of Howard and Winifred (Parks) Brunswick. He was a graduate of Wayland Central School, Class of 1961. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1963-1964 at Ft. Dix, N.J. He married Gene C. Schubmehl on May 20, 1967 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wayland, she survives. He was a truck driver for over 30 years with various companies in the area. His last employment was with Griffith Oil Co. in Wayland, he also worked in Stanley & Gorham at various farms during his youth.
Earl was an active member, past layperson and former member of the Administrative Council of the N. Cohocton Methodist Church. He was also an active member, since 1967, of the Wayland Lions Club, where he recently received his 35 year attendance pin. He helped with Meals on Wheels in Wayland, he enjoyed spending time with his family, watching MASH on television and taking walks.
Earl is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gene; two daughters, Karrie Beth (Mark) Prinzi of Wayland and Kammie Sue Brunswick of N. Cohocton; two brothers, Arnold (Gloria Jean) Brunswick of Wayland and James Brunswick (Bonnie Recktenwald) of Cohocton; one sister, Alice (Ted) Sosa of Rochester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

BERNARD F. SMITH
CANISTEO - Bernard F. Smith, 80, of 84 Maple Street, died Wednesday (Aug. 8, 2001) at his home.
Born in Hornell, Sept. 2, 1920, a son of Anthony and Katherine Friener Smith, he was a graduate of St. Ann's School and Hornell High School. He had served in the United States Army Air Corp., and had been employed as a Signalman for the Erie and Erie Lakawanna Railroad, as well as Conrail prior to his retirement in 1982, following over 30 years service.
Bernard was a communicant of St. Joachims Church in Canisteo and a member of the "Wise Old Owls" Camping Club.
On May 14, 1949, he married the former Florence Clark, who survives. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Vincent Smith.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Florence of Canisteo, are five daughters, Margaret Johnson of Canisteo, Betty (Roland) Newell of S.E. Palm Bay, Fla., Katherine (Mark) Ferguson of East Aurora, Carolyn (John) Criss of Corning and Bonnie (Thomas) Welch of Allegany; one son, John (Kristi) Smith of Bridge City, Texas; one sister, Margaret (James) Scanlon of Jordan; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce Street, Canisteo. Friends are invited to meet the family at St. Joachims Church in Canisteo on Saturday at 11 a.m., where Bernard's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. RUTH P. GREENE
ALFRED - Ruth P. Greene, 95, of 119 N. Main St., died Tuesday (Aug. 7, 2001) at her home.
Born Aug. 3, 1906, the daughter of Harry and Ann Gregory Greene. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Alice Sisson Greene; grandfather, Milo Burdick Greene; and a brother, Curtis Greene.
Ruth was a graduate of Alfred High School, Alfred University and Columbia University, with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Library Science. She had been employed as a librarian in Oyster Bay, Long Island, for 20 years and Alfred University for 13 years.
She was a member of Union University Church of Alfred and a member of Kanakadea Chapter #626 O.E.S. of Alfred.
She is survived by several cousins.
At Ruth's request, there will be no prior calling hours or funeral services.

PHYLLIS J. STEPHENS
N. COHOCTON - Phyllis J. Stephens, 71, passed away Wednesday (Aug. 8, 2001) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, after a long illness.
Phyllis was born March 29, 1930 in Cohocton, a daughter of Fredrick and Gladys Washburn. She was the widow of Carl Stephens, who predeceased her on May 30, 1984. Phyllis enjoyed horses, gardening, flowers and animals, but most of all she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her children, William Stephens, Susan (Joseph) Rawleigh, Lisa Stephens and Mark Stephens, all of Atlanta, Mary (Russell) Hart of Darien Center, Jeffrey (Debra) Stephens of Gatlinburg, Tenn., Cathy Stephens and Jerry Stephens, both of Wayland, Gary Stephens, Amy Stephens and Karen Stephens, all of Avoca, Connie Stephens of Cohocton and Robin (Ron) Keller of Canadice; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no prior calling. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Rev. Osceola Wharton officiating. Burial will be in Clearview Cemetery, N. Cohocton.

HORNELL - Elouise B. Richtmyer, 81, of 23 Holly Terrace, died Wednesday (Aug. 8, 2001) at Taylor Health Center, where she was a patient for one day.
Born April 10, 1920 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of Harry E. and Ruth Maycock Bush. She was married at the Statler Hilton Hotel in Buffalo to William E. Richtmyer of Hornell, in 1948.
She attended Buffalo area schools and was a graduate of Bryant-Stratton Business School in Buffalo.
She was a member of the Hornell Fortnightly Club and had attended Hornell United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, David (Pam) Richtmyer of Ann Arbor, Mich., John (Elizabeth) Richtmyer of Pembrooke Pines, Fla. and Alan (Akiko) Richtmyer of Brooklyn; two brothers, Robert and Warren Richtmyer, both of Buffalo; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and fives nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Hope Cemetery, Hornell, with Pastor Terry Kelly officiating.

BEATRICE K. WOLFANGER
DANSVILLE - Beatrice K. Wolfanger, 51, of Liberty Street in Dansville died Monday (Aug. 6, 2001) at Noyes Memorial Hospital after battling a long illness.
She was born May 9, 1950, in Wayland, the daughter of the late Michael Amato and Virginia (McCormick) Amato, whom she is survived by. Beatrice was married in the Dansville Presbyterian Church on Oct. 5, 1974, to James A. Wolfanger, whom she has been married to for 26 years.
Beatrice was a graduate of Wayland Central School Class of 1968, and had been employed over the years at the former Maxwell House and Williamson Hardware Store, the Moose Club, and as a sales clerk at the Salvation Army store in Dansville until 1998.
Bea was a member of the Daniel Goho American Legion Auxiliary in Dansville and enjoyed reading, gardening and motorcycle riding.
Besides her mother, Beatrice is survived by her husband, Jim; one brother, Jack (Cathy) Amato of Florida; three sisters, Betty (Emil) Hosenfeld of Springwater, Frances Gielen of Florida and Waneeta (Terry) Davis of Perkinsville; her mother-in-law, Edythe Wolfanger of Dansville; and several nieces and nephews.

HAROLD S. ORMSBY
WELLSVILLE - Harold S. Ormsby, 88, who resided with a son, Eugene Ormsby, at 4011 Duffy Hollow Rd., died Thursday (August 2, 2001) at Wellsville Manor, following a long illness.
Born March 6, 1913 in the Town of Alfred, the son of George H. and Mabel (Green) Ormsby. He was married November 4, 1939 in West Almond to Viola Northrup, who died in 1985. He was predeceased by two sons, Michael and George Ormsby; a sister, Rema Perry and a brother, Raymond Ormsby.
He was a lifelong farmer, in the Town of Alfred, a cheesemaker and most recently a custodian at Alfred State College for 16 years, retiring in 1982. Following his retirement, Harold had spent his winter's in Frostproof, Fla., for 16 years.
He was a member of the Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Church and Almond Grange #1102 for over 50 years.
He enjoyed farming, fishing and family.
Survivors include three sons, Eugene (Marguerite) Ormsby of Wellsville, Donald (Emily) Ormsby of Alfred Station and Robert (Carol) Ormsby of Lewisburg, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Sally Ormsby of Almond; two brothers, Clinton Ormsby of Hornell and Stanley Ormsby of Andover; a sister, Grace Munn of Hornell; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family received friends Sunday at the Robertson Funeral Home, Inc., Hornell, where funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, with Rev. David Truscott officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, Alfred Station.
Almond Grange #1102 will conduct a Grange Memorial Service at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

BERNICE P. VANDUSER
ALMOND - Bernice P. VanDuser, 95, died Saturday (Aug. 4, 2001) at McAuley Manor, where she has resided for the past six years.
She was born March 13, 1906, in Bradford, Pa., the daughter of William and Grace Hackett Townsend. She was married Dec. 3, 1934, to Howard S. VanDuser, who died in 1987. She was predeceased by a daughter, Alberta Lewis, who died in 1958.
For several years, she was a resident of Alfred Station before moving to Almond, where she resided for 51 years. A housewife and mother, Bernice enjoyed knitting, crochetting and sewing. She was a member of the Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Church.
Survivors include: four sons, Paul Binder of Hornell, Richard VanDuser of Almond, Donald (Bonnie) VanDuser of Hornell, and Kenneth VanDuser of Almond; two daughters, Doris (Robert) Mullen and Nancy Griffin, both of Almond; several grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

HORNELL - Barbara B. Caudell, 69, of 12 Holly Terrace, Edgeview Estates, Hornell, died Friday morning (August 3, 2001) at St. James Mercy Hospital, following a long illness.
Born in Hornell April 19, 1932, she was the daughter of George and Ruby (O'neil) Baird. She was a graduate of Hornell High School and throughout the years had resided in Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina and Georgia, returning to Hornell in 1986.
Barbara was employed as a sales clerk at the Hornell Penny Pincher and had been an avid bingo player. She was married for over 30 years to Carl Caudell, who died May 12, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Dailey, and her brother, David Baird.
Surviving are two sons, Jack (Barbara) Faulkner of Centerpoint, Tx. and Jim (Phyllis) Faulkner of San Antonio, Tx.; four daughters, June Faulkner of Doraville, Ga., Donna Vanderburg of Bedford, N.H., Diane Arnold of Hornell and Barbara (Jamie) Hukill of Springtown, Tx.; one brother, Richard (Carol) Baird of Batavia; two sister, Leonora "Lee" (Dale) Wing of Peoria, Ariz. and Arlene (Don) Crowley of Hornell; three stepson's, Dr. Tim (Terry) Duncan of San Diego, Calif, Greg (Julie) Caudell of Middletown, Ohio; as well as many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

PAULITA ANN (IZOR) TRAVIS
CANASERAGA/COHOCTON - Paulita Ann (Izor) Travis, 66, of 66 Main St., Cohocton, formerly of Canaseraga, died Tuesday (Oct. 16, 2001) in Burlington, Vt.
Born in Burlington, Vt. on April 27, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Isaac) Izor.
Paulita was a 1953 graduate of Waterbury High School in Vermont. On Nov. 7, 1953, she married Raymond G. Travis Jr., who died on June 14, 1999. Following her marriage, she was busy as a homemaker and raising her family.
While residing in Burlington, she worked several years as a waitress and bartender. With her husband serving with the US Air Force, she and her family traveled around the world, residing in Japan, Germany, Natick, Mass., Montgomery, Ala. and Burlington. For the past 26 years she had lived in Canaseraga and Cohocton.
Paulita's leisure time was filled enjoying cooking, dancing, bowling, fishing and spending time with her family. Her memberships included the Loyal Order of the Moose in Dansville and the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Auxiliary Unit 59 of Waterbury, Vt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Pasha and Grace Harvey, three brothers, Anthony Izor, James Izor and her twin, Paul Izor.
Surviving are her children, Tanya (Charles) Morris of Swain, Aneysa (Todd) Fowler of Bloomfield, Natasha Spike and her fiance, George Frew of Mt. In Waterbury, Vt. - Calling hours will be held on Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury, Vt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Waterbury, Vt., with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Duxbury, Vt.
In Hornell - The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-3 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, where a memorial service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 3 p.m., with Sister Elaine Hollis officiating.

ROY N. SCHUMAKER
HORNELL - Roy N. Schumaker, of 224 Greeley Ave., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening (Oct. 17, 2001) at Park Ridge Hospital in Rochester.
Born in Hornell, he was a son of Joseph Schumaker, who predeceased him, and Jane Finck (Schumaker) HerrNeckar, who survives.
A life long resident of Hornell, Roy was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1958, and he served with the Air Force from 1958-1962.
He was formerly employed for several years as an operating engineer for Local 832 in Rochester. For about the past 18 years he was employed as a professional driver, associated with the Dallis-Mavis Co., and owned and operated Schumaker Trucking.
Roy was amateur radio operator and enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading, and was also very interested in computers.
His family includes his wife of 31 years, the former Cynthia DeGaetano, who he married on Sept. 12, 1970; his son, Matthew Schumaker and his grandson, Justyn Schumaker, both of Hornell; his mother, Jane HerrNeckar of Florida; his three brothers, John (Rose) Schumaker of Horseheads; Fred (Anne) Schumaker of Canisteo and Glen (Carolyn) Schumaker of Florida; his sister, Paula Olyer of Rochester; and also his nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, Roy was predeceased by his step-father, Murrell HerrNeckar and his brother-in-law, Homer Olyer.
There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a service in memory of Roy at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Interment
will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Fremont, at the convenience of the family.
