RUTH McCANNA (JORDAN)
CONESUS - Ruth McCanna (Jordan), 87, of North Street, died Sunday (June 29, 2003) at her home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1916, in Scottsburg, the daughter of Wiley and Sadie Smith Krisher.
She was predeceased by her husbands, John McCanna and John Jordan; and her son, John McCanna II.
She was long time standing member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Golden Years Club, the Wayland Rod and Gun Club, and the United Methodist Church in Conesus. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Doctors Sloand and Schiff of the Clifton Crossing Dialysis Center.
She is survived by her daughters, Jayne Pfluke of Conesus, Millie (Gene) Pragle of Dansville, Dianne (Pete) Spencer of Conesus; sisters, Mildred Huber and Julia (Stanley) Chittenden; grandchildren, Loir (Anthony) Torres, Joe (Kay) Pfluke, Terry (Ed) LeBar, Bob (Lisa) MacDonald, John (Karen) McCanna Esq., Michael (Heidi) McCanna; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and many dear friends including Shirley Ross of Conesus.

WILLIAM F. "BILL" LIVINGSTON
HORNELL - William F. "Bill" Livingston, 73, of 12 McDougall Ave., Hornell, died Tuesday evening (July 1, 2003) shortly after being admitted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
A native and life resident of Hornell, he was born April 16, 1930, and was the son of Willis and Ruth (Bellis) Livingston.
Bill was a graduate of Hornell High School, where he excelled in sports, especially football, basketball and baseball. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.
He was employed as a salesman for Standard Brands Inc. (a food distribution company) for about 18 years. For many years he was employed as a sales representative for the Canisteo Penn-E-Saver. He had also been associated with the Dagon Funeral Home in many capacities for over 40 years.
He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Hornell American Legion. For many years he served as a coach for both the Hornell Grasshopper League and the Hornell Little League. Bill enjoyed working on (and occasionally solving) crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed growing flowers in his back yard. In 2002, he was honored by being selected to the Hornell High School Sports Hall of Fame.
Bill will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his contagious laughter and his genuine love of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steve, who died in 1999.
He was married on Oct. 17, 1953, to the former Lucy Ellen Dagon, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Joanie (Dave) Shabala of Olean; three sons, William "Will" Livingston of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Jim Livingston of Penfield, and Joe (Jill) Livingston of North Hornell; three grandchildren, Katie Prior of Rochester, Tim Prior of Lexington, Ky., and Sydney Livingston of North Hornell; many nieces and nephews.
The family of William F. "Bill" Livingston will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Ann's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

ADRIAN F. "ABE" JOY
DANSVILLE - Adrian F. "Abe" Joy, 75, of Franklin Street, passed away Tuesday (July 1, 2003) at the Teresa House in Geneseo, following a short illness.
He was born in Sonyea on Oct. 16, 1927, a son of the late Dr. Charles A. and Alice White Joy. On June 12, 1948, he was married to the former Sybil Parsons, who survives. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Joy; and his siblings, Charles and Betty Graves.
Abe was employed in the body shop at Shay's Service Inc. of Dansville for 28 years. He had also worked as a mechanic at Owen's Brothers Trucking of Dansville and had been a courier for the lab at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
He was an Elder and Trustee at the Dansville Presbyterian Church, and was a former member of the Ossian Presbyterian Church. He was a charter member and treasurer of the former Ossian Volunteer Fire Department. Abe was a 4-H leader for the Ossian Aggies, and a former Ossian Town Councilman. He enjoyed working on cars, coin and bottle collecting and camping with his dear wife, Sybil, and his family.
Surviving in addition to Sybil, his wife of 55 years, are a son, Adrian (Kathy) Joy; and his daughter, Kathy (Fred) Goodell, both of Dansville; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Friends may call Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Dansville Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Steven Bomely and Rev. Richard Fox officiating. Interment

GLORIA J. CLARK
HORNELL - Gloria J. Clark, 81, of 144 Thacher St., passed away Wednesday (July 2, 2003) at McAuley Manor.
Born in Alfred Station, Sept. 1, 1921, she was the daughter of Walter and Olive Woodard Green. She had resided in the Hornell area all of her life. She was a graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hornell VFW Post #2250 and the first Baptist Church of Hornell.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Clark; two daughters, Jane Dodge and Barbara Dean; as well as one brother, Henry McGill.
She is survived by three daughters, Carol (Les) Monahan of Andover, Rose (Scott) Teller of Hornell and Sue (John) Green of Hornell; on son, Robert (Dawn) Clark of Hornell; her longtime friend and companion, Mervin Spicer of Hornell; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery.

HORNELL - Emily A. Cook Baker, 89, of 52 Elm St., died Thursday (July 3, 2003) at her home, following a long illness.
She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Vecchione of Brooklyn and Carole Pero of Cameron Mills; one son, Bruce Baker of Hornell; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
There will be no prior calling hours. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

LLOYD M. STOCUM
HORNELL - Lloyd M. Stocum, 70, of 45 Bennett St., died Wednesday (July 2, 2003) at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness.
Born April 1, 1933, in Hornell, he was the son of William and Louise Powers Stocum. He was married June 27, 1970, in Canisteo, to Mildred L. Hagadorn, who survives. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Bowman, who died in 2002; and a sister, Jean Bowman, who died in 1979.
He was an electrician and retired from the former Morrison Knudson, Inc. in Hornell in 1997. Lloyd was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous for 26 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Colleen (Kevin) Wilson, Hornell; one stepdaughter, Kathleen (Dean Johnson) Clarke, South Dansville; one stepson, Michael (Candyse) Clarke, Haskinsville; and nine grandchildren, Jaime, Joshua, Joseph and Jayson Wilson; Amie, Joseph and Tanya Stewart; Tracy and Chad Bowman.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Robertson Funeral Home, Inc., Hornell, with Rev. William Powell officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.

DAVID W. MacDOUGAL
HORNELL/COHOCTON - David W. MacDougal, 43, passed away peacefully Saturday (July 5, 2003) at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, where he had been a patient since Wednesday, after he had fallen at Letchworth State Park.
Dave was born Oct. 9, 1959, in Bath, a son of Richard and Alberta (Neu) MacDougal. He was a 1979 graduate of Cohocton High School. He worked for the Steuben County ARC in Hornell. He loved sports, playing softball for the Kula softball team in Prattsburgh and rooting for the Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed attending tractor and truck pulls all over the area. His pride and joy was his GMC pickup, but his greatest love was for his family and friends.
Dave is survived by his parents, Richard and Alberta MacDougal of Cohocton; his brothers, Joe (Nancy) MacDougal of Anderson, S.C. and Tim (Gale) MacDougal Sr. of Cohocton; his sister, Bonnie MacDougal of Cohocton; three nephews, Tim MacDougal Jr., Adam MacDougal, Zachary MacDougal; one niece, Alicia MacDougal; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

LOUIS FISKE POOL
BIRDSALL - Louis Fiske Pool, 90, passed away Friday (July 4, 2003).
He was born in Helena, Mont.
Louis was predeceased by his first wife, Billie Jean (McLaren) Pool.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mary Gail (Andersen) Pool; two sons, William (Nancy) Pool of Pittsford, and Robert Pool of North Tonawanda; stepchildren, Kristine (Jim) Sveinson of Helena, Mont., Eric (Debi) Andersen of Brea, Calif., David (Maribel) Andersen of Natchitoches, La., and Gary Andersen of Fort Wayne, Ind.; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends also survive him. Louis was the oldest of seven children and is also survived by two sisters and one brother.
After graduating from Montana State University with a degree in electrical engineering, Louis joined the Westinghouse Electric Company and moved from Montana to Wilkinsburg, Pa. He moved to Buffalo in 1950 and retired in 1975 after 35 years of service with Westinghouse.
While living in Buffalo, he also raised Evergreen trees on his property in the Town of Birdsall. He was actively involved in community activities in Birdsall and also served on the finance committee of his retirement community in Tampa, Fla.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Garwoods United Methodist Church in Garwoods, where he was a member.

SWAIN - Gloria M. "Dolly" Underwood, 74, died Sunday (July 6, 2003).
She was born July 24, 1928, in Westview, to Raymond and Mable Westbrook Denby.
Gloria was a member of the Canaseraga Lioness Club, and a member of the Canaseraga American Legion Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by her husband, LaRue "Rudy" Underwood.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryle (Randy) Burrows of Dansville; two sons, LaRue "Butch" Underwood of Canaseraga and Michael (Roxanne) Underwood of Nunda; her grandchildren, Seth, Brandon, Marissa, Kaitlyn, Jason and Bethany; two sisters, Mary (Charles) May of Canaseraga and Shirley (Anthony) Pagano of Mt. Morris; brother, Raymond (Elizabeth) Denby of Nunda; sister-in-law, Pearl Underwood of Dansville; numerous nieces and nephews.

ROBERT P. LeCLAIR
DANSVILLE - Robert P. LeClair, 79, passed away unexpectedly Sunday (July 6, 2003) at his home.
Bob was born Nov. 28, 1923, in Biddeford, Maine, a son of Leonard and Marie (Mazerolle) LeClair. He was predeceased by his wife, Helena F. LeClair, on Nov. 29, 2001. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II from 1941 to
1944. He was a member of the Construction Workers Union in Elmira and he worked for S & J Groves Construction.
Bob was a member of the Dansville VFW Post and the Dansville American Legion Post.
He is survived by his son, Robert L. (Patricia) LeClair of Dansville; his daughter, Janet (Gerald) Prior of Charles City, Iowa; his grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no prior calling. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery, Nunda.

HAROLD W. NORTHRUP
HORNELL/FLORIDA - Harold W. Northrup, 67, of 3980 Plymouth Sorrento Rd., Apopka, Fla., formerly of Big Creek Road, Hornell, died Sunday (July 6, 2003) in Winter Park, Fla.
Born in the Town of Almond, Aug. 3, 1935, he was the son of Samuel P. and Margareta Wittersheim Northrup.
Harold had served in the United States Army from 1952-1967, and again from 1974-1976. He was a disabled American veteran and had served in the Korean War during the Vietnam Era. He was a life member and past commander of the Arthur H. Cunningham Post 2250, VFW of Hornell, for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion in both Hornell and Canisteo.
Harold had been employed for the former Foster Wheeler Corporation in Dansville. He owned and operated a rubbish removal service in Wayland, and had been employed as a former police officer for the Town of Wayland. He had served as a volunteer at the Bath VA Hospital for 15 years, and also served as a scout leader in Hornell for a period of time.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Pettit Northrup, whom he married on April 7, 1964; three daughters, Mary Louise Duong of Syracuse, Tamarra Marie Johnson of Florida and Deanna Lynn Northrup of Florida; three sons, Samuel P. Northrup of Hornell, John L. Northrup of Florida and Joseph H. Northrup of Hornell; four sisters, Eleanor (Richard) Roselle of Savona, Elsie Ormsby of Dansville, Dorothy Fox of Savona and Carol Walker of Hammondsport; one brother, Rudolph (Gladys) Northrup of Florida; 12 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

BATH - Ruth H. Tears, 88, of Steuben Health Care Facility, passed away Tuesday (July 8, 2003) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, Bath.
She was born Dec. 11, 1914, in Syracuse, to Frank and Rowena Lakey Green Hallings.
She was a retired bookkeeper for Steuben Rural Electric Coop., Inc., Bath. Prior to working at REA, she also was the office manager for the Boy Scouts of America, a nurse's aide for Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, and the office manager of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Wilson, N.C. Ruth was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, Bath.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Elaine K. Tears of Bath and Donna (Jack) Alvermann of Athens, Ga.; five nieces, Eileen (Rick) Partise of Leroy, Barb (Stuart) Howell of Dundee, Linda (Jim) Howell of Brockport, Dee (Ron) Anderson of Dundee, Mary Hallings of Penn Yan; one nephew, Dale (Karen) Hallings of Penn Yan; sister-in-law, Mary Louise (Freeman) Fowler of Dundee; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Frank (Twila) Hallings; and cousin, Winifred Soldan.

PHYLLIS I. DRAKE
NORTH HORNELL - Phyllis I. Drake, 73, of Cleveland Avenue, died Sunday (July 6, 2003) at her home, following a short illness.
She was born May 6, 1930, in North Hornell, the daughter of Harry E. and Viola VanOrman Ide. Phyllis was married July 2, 1949, to Thorl J. Drake, who died in 2000. She is also predeceased by a sister, Shirley Sisson; and a brother, John Ide.
She graduated from Alfred-Almond Central School in 1948, and had resided in Almond and Bath before moving to North Hornell in 1985. She was employed by Westinghouse Corporation and Phillips Lighting in Bath, retiring with over 30 years of service. Phyllis and her family enjoyed a summer residence on Waneta Lake for over 30 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon L. (David) Orcutt, Portville; one son, Harry (Gwen) Drake, Dansville; two sisters, Harriet Jay and Patty Fairchild, both of Hornell; one brother, William (Vicky) Ide, Canisteo; two granddaughters, Brenda Jean Drake of Waco, Texas, and Shawn (Paul) Bleakley of Geneva; one grandson, Ronald T. Orcutt, Salamanca; one great-granddaughter, Darby Rose Bleakley; and one great-grandson, Gabriel Drake Notham.

WILLIAM H. THOMAS
SPRINGWATER - William H. Thomas, 72, passed away peacefully Wednesday (July 9, 2003) at Highland of Brighton SNF in Rochester.
Bill was born June 8, 1931 in Rochester, a son of Roman and Gertrude (O'Grady) Thomas. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard, serving from 1949-1952. He married Beverly Jane Pecht on Dec. 30, 1950, she survives. He was an inspector at Kodak in Rochester, retiring in 1987. He also was a carpenter, an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
He was a proud member of the Springwater Fire Department where he had previously held the positions of captain and fire commissioner. He was a life member of the Springwater Rod & Gun club and a member of the Springwater American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane; his children, Marie (James) Craig of South Dakota, Daniel Thomas of Springwater, Timothy (Carol) Thomas of Rochester, Connie (George) Snyder of Pittsburgh, Pa., David (Sally) Thomas of Dansville and Susan (James) Farrell of Honeoye; 10 grandchildren, Amy & Tyler Henson, Phillip Craig, Kevin and Jason Thomas, Michael and Jennifer Synder, Cory and Matthew Thomas and Kasey Canute; brothers and sisters, John (Phyllis) Thomas of Oklahoma, Roman Thomas (Lorraine Roth) of Springwater, Dorothy Reichardt, Delores Strassner, Susan (Gerald) Leva and Maryellen (George) Beadle all of Rochester, several nieces, nephews & cousins.

JOHN R. GAVIN SR.
ANDOVER - John R. Gavin Sr., 73, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday (July 9, 2003).
He was born Feb. 15, 1930, in Hornell to James and Mary Gavin. On Oct. 11, 1958, he married Carrol J. Harris, who predeceased him on Jan. 27, 1995.
John served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He worked most of his career in road construction as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1974.
John is survived by two sons, John R. (Kayleen) Gavin Jr. of Canisteo and Raymond ( Tammy) Gavin of Andover; two daughters, Marlene Gavin Otto of Andover and Linda (Kevin) Gilbert of Hilton; nine grandchildren, Chelsey, Katelyn, Joseph, Samantha, Mitchell, and Dakota Gavin; Jonathon Otto; Felicia and Mark Gilbert; three brothers, James Gavin, Francis (Norma) Gavin and George (Charlotte) Gavin, all of Andover; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by four brothers, Carl, Joseph, Donald and Charles Gavin.
John was a long time member of the American Legion Lynch Burgett Post #397 and the Local 832 Operators Union. He enjoyed mowing and plowing for his neighbors and greatly enjoyed his grandchildren.

VIRGINIA I. TAFT
WOODHULL - Virginia I. Taft, 86, of 4863 Walrath Rd., passed away Tuesday (July 8, 2003) at St. James Mercy Hospital, Hornell.
Born in the Town of Canisteo, Sept. 20, 1916, she was the daughter of Lewis and Ethel Butler Ellis.
She married Howard J. Taft, Nov. 20, 1935, and they ran a dairy farm in the Town of Woodhull until their retirement.
Virginia was a former member and past master of Woodhull Grange 871; was a member of Canisteo Grange and Steuben County Pamona Grange; and was a former member of the South Canisteo United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen M. Drake of Woodhull; her brother-in-law, Coral Vance of Addison; her niece, Doris (Lloyd) Westervelt of New Braunfels, Texas; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Joyce Ann Taft; her brother Myles Ellis; and sister, Olive Koch.

JOHN J. "JJ" DeWISPELAERE III
SPARTA - John J. "JJ" DeWispelaere III, 21, of the Reeds Corners Road, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday (July 8, 2003).
He was born in Oswego on June 11, 1982, a son of John J. and Lizbeth Hollenbeck DeWispelaere, who survive.
JJ was a 2000 graduate of Dansville Central School. He was currently employed as a waiter at the Old Madrid Restaurant in Dansville. He loved animals, reading, spending time with his friends playing paintball, ultimate Frisbee and fishing.
JJ is survived by his mother, Beth DeWispelaere of Sparta; his father, John J. MARIAN L. WILLOVER MURPHY
BATH - Marian L. Willover Murphy, 83, of 11 Dogwood St., formerly of Jasper, passed away Thursday (July 10, 2003) at home, after a short illness.
Born in Cuba, Sept. 21, 1919, she was the daughter of Walter and Marguerite Dorsey Willover.
A graduate of Jasper Central School and Geneseo Normal School, she later earned a bachelor of education degree at SUNY Geneseo.
An elementary school teacher for 40 years, she taught at Jasper and Greenwood Central Schools; and was for several years the librarian at Jasper Free Library.
She was a life member and past matron of Jasper Chapter 652 OES, and a member of the United Church of Jasper.
She married Donald Neil Murphy, June 30, 1939, he survives.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, John D. (Anne) Murphy of Cameron Mills; her granddaughter, Bonita (Tony) Petti of Canandaigua; her grandson, Scott D. (Karen) Murphy of Cameron; her brother, Richard (Rosamond) Willover of Bath; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St., Woodhull, where memorial services will be conducted immediately following visitation. Interment
will be in Hinsdale Cemetery, Hinsdale, at a later date.
Memorials will be received for the Jasper Free Library.
ALICE V. ROSS
HORNELL - Alice V. Ross, 89, of 16 Davenport St., died Thursday (July 10, 2003) in St. James Mercy Hospital.
Born in Dansville, Sept. 24, 1913, she was the daughter of William and Marie Kennedy Johnson. She had resided in Hornell since 1932. She had been employed as a nurse's aide for several area nursing homes including the former Harris Nursing Home and the Furlong Nursing Home. She was also employed at the former Westinghouse Plant in Bath. Alice will be remembered for her love of bingo.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth L. Ross in 1975; two grandchildren, Marian Allen and Jessie Ross; as well as two sisters, Edith Butler and Mabel Goodnoe; and three brothers, Harry Johnson, Fred Johnson and Stanley Johnson.
She is survived by five daughters, Ella (Donald) Gardner of Rochester, Mable (John) Shaver of Hornell, Lana (Wilson) Nichols of Hornell, Edith (Gerald) Jackson of Arkport, Arlene O'Dell of Hornell; two sons, Lyman (Joanne) Ross of Rochester, Stanley (Mary) Ross of Florida; one brother, Charles Johnson of Dansville; 27 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 7-9 p.m. Friday to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., Rev. Dudley Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.

DANSVILLE - Ruth C. Derrenbacher, 80, of Eagle Street, passed away at the home of her daughter, Dale, in Wayland on Wednesday evening (June 25, 2003) after a lengthy illness.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 13, at 1 p.m. in the Dansville Presbyterian Church. Interment
was in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.

RAYMOND J. KOHNKE
CERRITOS, Calif. - Raymond J. Kohnke, formerly of Hornell, passed away Monday (July 7, 2003) in Cerritos, Calif.
He was born in Hornell and graduated from Hornell High School in 1953.
He received a degree from the University of Buffalo, and was commissioned in the U.S. Navy, having served in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Richard; daughter, Maria; two brothers, Jack of Leesburg, Fla., and Dr. Robert of Niagara Falls.
Services were handled in California.
DOROTHY R. (BURDICK) FISHER
ROCHESTER - Dorothy R. (Burdick) Fisher, 91, passed away Thursday (July 10, 2003).
She is predeceased by her husband, Paul A. Fisher; and her sister, Iilean Taylor.
She is survived by her son, James R. (Linda) of Greece; two grandchildren, Kelly and Andy; a sister, Frances Rae Covert of Romulus; as well as several nieces and nephews, including Sally Brown and Robert Taylor.
There will be no prior visitation. Friends are invited to a memorial service Monday at 6 p.m. at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 2415 Chili Ave., Rochester.
There will be a private interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Wood Commons, Dorothy's home for the past several months.

ROBERT L. HILL
WELLSVILLE - Robert L. Hill, 65, of 2496 Perkins Rd., died Saturday (July 12, 2003) at his home with his wife present.
He was born and raised in Akron, Ohio.
As a young man he served in the United States Marine Corps. He then made the San Francisco Bay area his home, where in 1972 he met his wife, Judy. They have been residents of Wellsville since 1979. He was self-employed as the owner of the Andover Liquor Store and the Emporium of Andover, as well as the owner/manager of several rental properties.
Bob loved spending time with his family and friends, being in nature, and pursuing many interests: business ventures, building, remodeling, and landscaping projects, and artistic endeavors particularly carving and sculpting. He will be remembered for his positive outlook and love of life by the many family and friends whose lives he touched.
Friends are invited to call at the family residence from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the SPCA serving Allegany County.
ANNA J. SECHLER
LIVERPOOL - Anna J. Sechler, 80, formerly of Edgeview Estates, passed away Sunday (June 29, 2003) in St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.
Born Oct. 14, 1922, in Hornell, the daughter of Anthony and Anna (Caladuzzi) Solinas, she had resided in Liverpool for the past seven years. She had been employed as a seamstress for the former Hornell Dress Factory. Ann was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Hornell.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Sechler in 1995.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann Hall of Liverpool; two sons, George Sechler of Washington state, and Paul Sechler of Syracuse; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Honoring Ann's wishes, there were no calling hours. Graveside services were held July 1 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fremont.
