HAROLD E. JOHNSON
CLEARWATER - Harold E. Johnson, 78, of Clearwater, died Wednesday (July 23, 2003) at Sylvan Health Center.
He was born in Canisteo and moved to Clearwater in 1966 from Wellsville.
He worked for Honeywell and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Protestant and a member of Turner Brandon American Legion Post 7, Clearwater, the Honeywell Retirees Club and the Minnrigs of Honeywell.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marion; a daughter, Joan Bianco, Clearwater; a son, David, Westminster, Colo.; two brothers, Richard and Clair, both of Dansville; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were through the Rhodes Funeral Directors, Belcher Chapel, Clearwater.

JEANNINE A. FAULKNER
RICHBURG - Jeannine A. Faulkner, 70, of Richardson Avenue and a former Paradise Lake resident, died Friday (Sept. 5, 2003) in the Wellsville Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 21, 1932 in Angelica, she was the daughter of Victor and Marie (Hoffman) Brundage.
She graduated from Wilsonian High School in Angelica. She was a former employee of AVX Corp in Olean, Macler Industries in Friendship, and managed the Paradise Lake campgrounds.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Vicki (Fred) Dearborn of Bolivar, Mrs. Dickee (Ed) Pastor of Cuba, Mrs. Darlene (Mike) Learn of Bolivar, Mrs. Kathy (Dan) Matacle of Wellsville, and Mrs. Jeanie (Ray) Maedl of Cuba; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Stan "Red" (Clasa) Brundage of Angelica; and one aunt, Beaulah VanDuzer of Binghamton.
Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc. in Bolivar on Monday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Allen of the Richburg 1st Day Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.
Memorial donations may be made to the Richburg Fire Dept. or Home Care and hospice.

JOYCE FARWELL NICHOLSON "NEWMAH"
CUBA - Joyce F. Nicholson, 72, of #27 Maple St., passed away Thursday (Sept. 4, 2003) in Olean General Hospital from an illness.
Born Oct. 28, 1930 in Wellsville, she was the daughter of E. Miner and Enid (Snyder) Farwell. On Sept. 30, 1950 in St. Philips Church in Belmont, she married Thomas S. Nicholson, who survives.
Mrs. Nicholson was a 1948 graduate of Belmont High School. She was a secretary for both the Wellsville School System and the Allegany County Extension Service. After her husband's discharge from the U.S. Army they moved into the Loveridge Funeral Home in Cuba where he started his career in funeral service. In 1958, they purchased the funeral home, and in 1974 it became the Nicholson Funeral Home and they continued to operate it until his retirement in 1991.
Mrs. Nicholson was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean, where she was formerly active in attending to the nursery age children. She also formerly attended the Saturday morning services at the Christ Episcopal Chapel in Belfast, where she was active in the Lady's Guild and fund raising for several years.
Until her health began to fail, Mrs. Nicholson was a very active volunteer in the community. She was awarded the Community Service Award by the Cuba Chamber of Commerce in 1982. She was a former member of the D.A.R., the Cuba Historical Society, PTA, was a fundraising chairperson for the Community Chest, a member and past president and fundraising chairperson for the Cuba Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the annual musical productions. Mrs. Nicholson will be remembered for the small floral arrangements she made at home and took to the residents at the Cuba Memorial Hospital.
Surviving Mrs. Nicholson besides her husband, are three daughters, Pamela J. Nicholson of Machias, Anne N. (Gerald) Wight of Cuba, and Sally N. (Stephen) Reis of Richardson, Texas; six grandsons; three granddaughters; two sisters, Jeannie Healy of Belmont and Judith Farwell of Belmont; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in The Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean today from 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. T. James Snodgrass, Rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Cuba Cemetery, Cuba.

LEO L. "MICKEY" PECK
N. COHOCTON - Leo L. "Mickey" Peck, 67, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2003) at his home, after a long illness.
Mickey was born Oct. 29, 1935, in Naples, a son of Leon and Charlotte (Blencowe) Peck. He was a 1953 graduate of Naples Central School. He was self employed most of his life as a contractor. He married the former Brenda Button on Nov. 13, 1993, in Naples, she survives.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Nelson and Clifford Peck; and a sister, Leah Peck.
Mickey enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening; he also loved to watch football and TV Westerns.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughter, Kayla Peck; stepson, Matthew Whittaker; sons, Tim Peck and Randy Peck; daughter, Cheryl Barnett; sisters, Grace (Rod) Stone and Fannie Wright; sisters-in-law, Jeannie Peck and Madeline Smith; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in Clearview Cemetery, N. Cohocton.

REVA R. SIMONS
BELVIDERE - Reva R. Simons, 77, of 5674 Trianna Rd., died Saturday (Sept. 6, 2003) at her home, following a lengthy illness.
Born May 19, 1926 in Friendship, she was the daughter of Orville E. and Lucy E. (Whitwood) Warner. On May 19, 1946 in Friendship, she married Glenn E. Simons, who survives.
Mrs. Simons had resided most of her life in Belvidere and was a graduate of Friendship Central School, class of 1945. She had been a waitress and cook at the E and D. Restaurant in Cuba for several years and in the early 1970's she was employed at Criss Market in Belmont for several years. For many years she cleaned houses for various families in the area.
Reva enjoyed crocheting, camping, fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wellsville and during W.W.II she was active in the Red Cross. Also, she was an Allegany Co. Foster Parent, taking in several foster children.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Garold E. (Jayne) Murray of Scio and William G. (Wilma) Simons of Friendship; a daughter, Sharee A. Budinger of Friendship; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; three brothers, Orville "Tom" (Helen) Warner of Georgetown, Del., Richard "Dick" Warner of Friendship, and Fred (Molly) Warner of Belmont; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Warner; a sister, Dora Dalton; and a grandson, Jason William Simons.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home in Friendship from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Morris, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Wellsville officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Friendship.

HORNELL - Genevieve A. Davison, 89, of Riverbend Apartments, died Saturday (Sept. 6, 2003) at her home, following a long illness.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Dolores Bradley, 81, longtime resident of Hornell, died on Tuesday (Sept. 2, 2003) in Lexington, Ky.
She graduated from Alfred State College and was a registered nurse. She retired from Craig Colony in Sonyea, where she had served as both a staff and head nurse.
Dolores was preceded in death by both her husband Charles Bradley; and daughter, Darla Bradley Welch.
She is survived by her son, Bob Bradley; three grandchildren, Joe Welch and Rob Bradley of Lexington, Ky., and Meghan Martinez of Denver, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren.
No service is planned at this time.

HORNELL - Betty J. Bailey, 69, of 21 W. VanScoter St., entered into rest peacefully late Saturday evening (Sept. 6, 2003) at Hornell Gardens.

N. COHOCTON - Althea P. Keeler, 101, went to be with her Lord on Monday (Sept. 8, 2003) at the Steuben County Health Care Facility in Bath, where she had resided for the past two years.

TIMOTHY H. STEPHENS
BATAVIA - Timothy H. Stephens, 43, of Batavia, an employee with the New York State School For The Blind in Batavia for 22 years, died Monday (Sept. 8, 2003).
Timothy was born April 22, 1960, in Hornell, a son of Conner Stephens of Alfred Station and the late Lyla Mullen Stephens.
Surviving along with his father, are two sons, Timothy Stephens, who is stationed with the U.S. Navy at Norfolk, Va.; and David Stephens of Batavia; a daughter, Taryn Stephens of Pavilion; a brother, Jeffrey (Lois) Stephens of Alfred Station; three sisters, Diane Stephens of Alfred, Susan (Steve) Spangler of Sarasota, Fla., and Nancy (Robert) McCabe of Rochester; five nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main St., Batavia, where services will follow at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Alfred.

HORNELL - James F. "Jim" Wiley, 81, of 100 River St., Hornell, died unexpectedly early Thursday morning (Sept. 11, 2003) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he was taken after being stricken at home.
Jim's family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at a time to be announced.

JOHN J. WOOD
CLEVELAND, OHIO/HORNELL - John J. Wood, 52, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Hornell, passed away Saturday (Sept. 6, 2003) after a long illness.
Born in Hornell, Sept. 1, 1951, the son of John and Madeline (McCarthy) Wood, he had resided in Cleveland since 1970.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry (Pullin) Wood of Cleveland; his two sons, Devon and Jared of Cleveland; his six sisters, Susan Wood, Cindy Wood and Melinda Wood, all of Hornell, Sally (Mark) Winrock of Fairport, Mary Wood of Shelby, N.C. and Patricia (Mark) Pinzok of Cranberry Township, Pa.; his brother, James (Woody) Wood of Hornell; four nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 9 at The Corrigan Funeral Home in Cleveland. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Sept. 10 at St. Ignatius Church in Cleveland.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society.

MILDRED S. HOUSE
NORTH HORNELL - Mildred S. House, 99, formerly of Seneca Road, died Saturday (Sept. 13, 2003) in McAuley Manor, where she had resided for the past 4 1/2 years.
Born Feb. 11, 1904, in Kanona, she was the daughter of James and Anna Heminway Saunders. She was married Sept. 16, 1926, in Hornell to George J. House, who died in 1978. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Brink and Maude Travis; one brother, Roland Saunders.
Mildred was a graduate of Hornell High School and the former Hornell Business School, and had resided in North Hornell since 1932. As a stenographer, she was earlier employed by the former Erie Railroad and later employed for 21 years for the NYSDOT in Hornell, retiring in 1966. She was one of the oldest members of the United Presbyterian Church of Hornell, Past Matron of Ivanhoe Chapter #160 OES, Home Bureau and Women's Organization of the United Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Marjorie (Ian) James, Ontario, Canada; and Elizabeth (James) Macris, East Greenbush; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ian James, Amy DeWeerd and James Macris; one great-granddaughter, Hannah DeWeerd; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Robertson Funeral Home, Inc., Hornell. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. David M. Kilgore officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.

HORNELL - Glenn C. Gottschall, 77, of 2270 County Route 54, passed away this morning (Sept. 16, 2003) at his home.

SERENA NAOMI ZIRKELBACH
HORNELL - Serena Naomi Zirkelbach, 97, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday (Sept. 15, 2003).
She was predeceased by her father, Edward George Franklin; mother, Cora Mae (Miller) Stephens; stepfather, Burt Stephens; brother, Clarence Stephens; granddaughter, Tracey Zirkelbach; and husband, Donald F. Zirkelbach.
Serena is survived by her son, G. Donald (Alice) Zirkelbach; daughters, Patricia (Rev. Nathan) Dye and Marilyn (Jesse) Cimino; grandchildren, Richard (Nancy) Zirkelbach, Joan Zirkelbach, Barbara (Peter) Chiariello, Robert (Kathy) Lyke, Susan (Dennis) Cooper and Steven (Theresa) Lyke; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons; special cousins, Jeannie (Bob) Brown; adopted granddaughter, Colette Gawlowiez; and several nieces and nephews.
Serena graduated from the Canisteo Academy. On June 30, 1935, Serena married Donald F. Zirkelbach; they were married for 64 years. Donald died in 1989. They lived most of their lives in the Almond/Hornell area. Serena retired from the Alfred Almond Central School cafeteria in 1970. Upon retirement Serena and Donald enjoyed being with family and traveling. Four years ago, Serena moved from the Hornell area and made her home with her daughter and son-in-law in Rochester.
Serena had been a member of the Almond Union of Churches since 1935, and was active there until her move to Rochester. Serena had been secretary of the Philatelies, and a member of the Rebeccah's, and was instrumental in getting the women's prayer group started at the Almond Union of Churches. Serena enjoyed her family, and church family, sewing, knitting and traveling.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Hornell. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Almond Union of Churches, 11 Main St., Almond. Serena's son-in-law, Rev. Nathan Dye, will be officiating. A memorial service will also be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church, 1301 Vintage Lane, Rochester.

NATHAN C. BEISWENGER
DANSVILLE - Nathan C. Beiswenger, 18, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening (Sept. 16, 2003) from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

ELIZABETH ZONE
WAYLAND - Elizabeth "Bibs" Zone, 85, of 200 West Naples St., Wayland, passed away Wednesday morning (Sept. 17, 2003) after a brief illness, at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
Bibs was born Feb. 3, 1918, in Seneca Falls, the daughter of Peter and Lottie (Hill) Doran. Bibs was a graduate of Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls, and she attained a bachelor of science degree from Nazareth Academy and a master's degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Bibs and J. Joseph Zone, MD, entered into a loving marriage Jan. 16, 1941, in Seneca Falls. Together they enjoyed over 37 years of marriage.
Elizabeth was an active member of the board of directors of the Wayland Free Library, serving as its president for over 50 years. Under her guidance, the library greatly expanded its acquisitions, resources, and financial support. Elizabeth was also a very active member of the Wayland Hospital Women's Auxiliary. Continuing with her zest for community service, Bibs was a Cub Scout den mother, president of the Rosary Society and Lowell Club, member of the Wayland-Cohocton PTA, Religious Education teacher, member of the St. Joseph's school board, a member of the Village of Wayland planning board, and committee member of the Office for Mental Health, Division of Alcoholism Abuse and with the office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. Elizabeth was also a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Wayland. A very proud moment for Bibs was when she was honored as the Wayland Distinguished Citizen of the Year in 2001.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, J. Joseph Zone, MD, Feb. 1, 1978.
Elizabeth is survived by her four sons, Thomas (Marilyn) Zone of Sanford, N.C., Donald (Marylou) Zone of Erie, Pa., John (Judy) Zone of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Martin (Barbara) Zone of Wayland; her daughter, Kathleen "Punkin" (Michael) Shaver of Wayland; 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Kathleen "Kay" Suffredini of Seneca Falls.
Elizabeth's family and friends may call 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Elizabeth at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Fremont Street, Wayland, Rev. Stephen Karani celebrant. A committal service will be conducted at St. Columbkille Cemetery, East Bayard Street, Seneca Falls, at 3 p.m. Saturday, with Rev. William Laird officiating.

RICHARD 'DICK' McGARRIGLE
NEWFIELD - Richard "Dick" McGarrigle, 68, of 373 Poole Circle, Newfield, died Wednesday (Sept. 17, 2003) at his home.
He was the son of Blanche (Winston) DeMerchant and the late John McGarrigle.
Dick was a member of the South Hill Church of the Nazarene. For many years, he was a salesman for Sam Peters Furniture and Woolworth's Department Store. He was also an avid New York Yankee fan.
Survivors, besides his mother and stepfather, include his wife, Mitzi Howe McGarrigle; sons Richard (Barbara), David (Claudia), Jon (Cindy) James and Jason McGarrigle; daughters Sharon (Freeman) Northrup and Barbara (Charlie Bayley) McGarrigle; nine grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Robert and Maureen Fuller, Ray and Marilyn Hynes, and Michael and Jean Howe; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday at the South Hill Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor David Valyou officiating. Burial will follow at King Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, prior to the service. Bangs Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

CAROLINE M. ALLEN
DANSVILLE - Caroline M. Allen, 82, passed away peacefully Friday (Sept. 19, 2003) at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility, Mt. Morris, where she had resided for the past year.

LOIS (PARKS) DEMPSEY
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Lois Dempsey, 74, formerly of Hornell, died Friday (Sept. 12, 2003) after a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Dempsey.
She is survived by three children, Stephen J. (Carolyn) Dempsey, Michael J. (Gloria Beth) Dempsey, Jo-Ann (Raymond) Kelly; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Parks; two sisters, Janice Fetchen and Nadine Glass; and several nieces and nephews.
Lois was the former president of the Parkway Leisure Club and Fairmount Senior Citizens Club. She was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the VFW Post No. 7650.
Services were handled by the Dinan Funeral Home, 1921-23 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia, Pa.

CHARLIE HICKS
BATH - Charlie Hicks, 45, of 7719 St. Rte 53, died Thursday (Sept. 18, 2003) at Ira Davenport Hospital, Bath.
Charlie was born Oct. 29, 1957 in Ormand Beach, Fla. and was the son of Artis and Bessie Mae (Shaw) Hicks. He was employed for 23 years with the NYS Dept. of Transportation. He was an active member of the Prattsburgh Vol. Fire Dept., the Police Auxiliary and the Ambulance Corp. He was also active with the Kanona Fire Dept. For 18 years he coached Little League in Prattsburgh and was a member of the Arkport Harley Owners Group. Charlie was an avid NY Giants fan and NASCAR enthusiast for Rusty Wallace. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Cathleen; children, Edward Charles (Paula) Hicks, Jr. of Bloomfield, Tina (Russell) Teabout of Waterford, Richard M. Charlie was predeceased by his two brothers, Wren Hicks (Nov. 10, 2002) and Wayne Hicks (April, 7, 2003).
Friends may call at the Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, 4 Mechanic St., Prattsburgh, on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. His funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Prattsburgh Firehouse, with the Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Bruinooge officiating.
Burial will be at Rural Cemetery.

MARIAN SNIFFEN
SPRINGWATER/WAYLAND - Marian (Gibson) Sniffen, 86, passed away Friday (Sept. 19, 2003) at her home in East Springwater.
She was born on April 7, 1917 in Wayland, a daughter of Gordon and Sadie (Robinson) Gibson. She married Harold Sniffen on Sept. 25, 1937, who predeceased her in Jan. 2002.
Marian worked at Birdseye Plant as a line supervisor and at the Woodcraftery both in Wayland, for many years. She also ran a potato farm with her husband. She was a past member of the Wayland Evangelical Church, a 4-H leader, and a lifetime resident of East Springwater. She enjoyed her family, gardening and cooking.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence (Marlene) Sniffen of Wayland; daughter, Joan Wilgus of Geneseo; grandchildren, Shelley (Paul) Nowak of Burkesville, Ky., Amy (Jim) Nunes of Fairport, and Jerry McHugh of Rochester; great-grandchildren, Stanley and Kenneth Nowak, Brian and Andrew Nunes and Jonathan McHugh; a brother, Roy (Shirley) Gibson of Wayland, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call Monday from noon-2 p.m. at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home in Wayland, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Burial will be at Village Cemetery, Wayland.
Memorial contributions may be made to Livingston County Hospice, Livingston County Health Dept., 2 County Campus, Mt. Morris, N.Y. 14510 in memory of Marian Sniffen.

THERESA M. CAPLUZZI
HORNELL - Theresa M. Capluzzi, 59, of 50 Southwick Court, Rochester, formerly of Hornell, died Sunday morning (Sept. 21, 2003) at the home of Donald "DJ" and Monica Capluzzi of Hornell, where she had resided for the past four months.
Born in Hornell on Sept. 16, 1944, she was the daughter of James and Lucy (Altieri) Capluzzi.
Theresa attended Bryant Elementary School and was a 1962 graduate of Hornell High School. In 1966, she graduated from Geneseo State College, receiving her BS degree in elementary education. From 1966-1968 she taught 4th-grade at Bryant School. For over 32 years, she taught in the Rush-Henrietta School District, retiring in 2000.
She was a communicant of Guardian Angel Church of Rochester, and while residing in Hornell, she was a communicant of St. Ann's Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Capluzzi; and her sister, Joyce Capluzzi Miller.
Surviving are her brother, John (Kathy) Capluzzi of Hornell; her brother-in-law, Harry Miller of Rochester; her sister-in-law, Pat Capluzzi of Hornell; many nieces and nephews.
The family of Theresa M. Capluzzi will receive friends today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Theresa's family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to either St. Ann's School, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, N.Y. 14843; or to the Hornell Alumni Association, PO Box 135, Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.

ALICE G. GREGORY
DANSVILLE - Alice G. Gregory, 83, formerly of N. Clinton St., Dansville, passed away early Tuesday morning (Sept. 23, 2003) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, after being transferred from the Livingston County SNF, where she had been a resident for the past several months.
Our mother left us today to be with her husband, Gene Gregory; and her son, R. John Van Durme, who have been waiting for her in heaven. She was born in Dansville on Oct. 21, 1919, a daughter of the late Dana and Grace Wagner Randall. On Nov. 21, 1980, she was married to Eugene Gregory. She was also predeceased by a sister, Mary G. Randall.
Alice was formerly employed at Blum Shoe Factory, FA Owen Publishing Company, and you may have remembered her serving you lunch at the counter at Brae Burn Recreation in the early 1970s.
She was a member and former Girl Scout Troop leader at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Dansville. She was also a member of the former Dansville Community Chorus. She enjoyed bowling and knitting.
Alice is survived by her two daughters, Maryalice Quackenbush and Susan (Peter) Edwards, and her son, Paul (Lynda) Van Durme, all of Dansville; two step-daughters, Francine (Tom) Knapp, Beverly (Jim) Beecher, both of Dansville; a step-son, John (Nicki) Gregory of Webster; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
We will be saying good-bye to our mother on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Randolph Bishop officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.

PHYLLIS I. "PEACHY" STRATTON
CANISTEO - Phyllis I. "Peachy" Stratton, 66, of 51 Depot St., passed away Sunday (Sept. 21, 2003) shortly after arrival at St. James Mercy Hospital.
Born in Hornell, Aug. 21, 1937, the daughter of Burton and Hattie McDonald Brott, she had resided in Canisteo since the early 1980s. She had attended the Salvation Army Corp in Hornell; and for the past five years, was active in the Adult Day Care Program at Mercy Care. She was an avid bingo player and loved and collected wind chimes.
She was predeceased by her parents; one daughter, Rose Marie Stratton; one brother, William Brott; and one sister, Mary Powers.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin Stratton of Canisteo; six daughters, Bonnie (Jeff) Bacon of Canisteo, Melody (Mike) Kopetz of Virginia, Mary Ellen (Art) Toler of Nunda, Shirley (Robert) Metzger of Silver Creek, Tina Vogt of Pulteney, Becky Lynn Griffith (Stanley DuBois) of Canisteo; five sons, Edwin Lee Stratton of Canisteo, Michael (Helen) Stratton of Canisteo, John Stratton (Yvette Knowlton) of Falconer, Larry Stratton of Canisteo, Scott (Christine) Stratton of Canisteo; three sisters, Bertha (Nelson) Smith of Swain, Lavonne Hess of Arkport, Barbara (Richard) Green of Canisteo; 20 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present 2-4 p.m. Wednesday to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo, where funeral services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 4 p.m., Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
Friends may make memorial contributions to Adult Day Care Center, c/o Mercy Care, 1 Bethesda Driver, N. Hornell, N.Y. 14843.

LUCILE E. "PEG" FLINT
HORNELL - Lucile E. "Peg" Flint, 79, of 6275 Crosby Creek Rd., passed away Tuesday (Sept. 23, 2003) in Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa.
Born in Salamanca, Aug. 31, 1924, the daughter of Clarence and Adele Terry Tanner, she had resided in Hornell most of her adult life. She was a graduate of Hornell High School and the former Hornell Business School, and was a member of the Hillside Baptist Church. Peg will be remembered for her handiwork using plastic canvas to fashion gifts for family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Flint, on April 6, 1992.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (Thomas) Bedford of Hornell and Marilyn (Arlyn) Smith of Wellsville; one son, Marshall Flint of Hornell; two brothers, Terry Tanner of Forestville and Charles (Doris) Tanner of California; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m., Rev. Dathan Corbett officiating. Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.
