MYRLE I. CLANCY
HUNT - Myrle I. Clancy, 87, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. She was born in Nunda on July 22, 1917, the daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Steddings Stilson. On June 14, 1941, she married the Rev. William Clancy, who survives. Myrle worked at various times as Assistant Postmaster for the Hunt Post Office, and was a mother and homemaker. She was also a correspondent for the former Nunda News, covering items in Hunt. Myrle was a past member of the Hunt Baptist Church, and a current member of the Oakland Wesleyan Church. She belonged to the Hunt's Hollow Cemetery Association, the Board of Elections for the Town of Portage, and was a 35-year member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She graduated from Wayland High School in 1940. She was a Charter Member 26568 of the Navy WAVES, serving her country from 1943 to 1945, attaining the rank of YN2, and received the American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

While in the Navy, Barbara met Frank Jerome Dunbar, and the couple married in Wayland in 1946. They moved to Hollywood, Calif. that same year. In 1967, they moved to Visalia, Calif. She was very devoted to the Lord through St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Visalia. Barbara especially enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, and listening to classical music. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank, in 1993.

SWAIN - Laverne A. Hoyt, 75, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004. Born June 10, 1939, in Rochester, to Harry and Matilda Offen Hoyt, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Canaseraga American Legion, and very active with the Canaseraga Little League. He retired from the Carpenters Union.
