GLENDA LEE MESSERSMITH GOOSSEN BOB
Glenda Lee Messersmith Goossen Bob rushed into the arms of our loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday (December 9, 2004) at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. Born on Dec. 12, 1943, to Howard and Gladys Huffman Messersmith, whom have both predeceased her, Glenda has always loved life and all the excitement that it could bring. She graduated in 1962 from the Odessa Montour Central School, where she developed many lasting relationships. One of her closest bonds was with her best friend Pearl Van Zile DeRidder, who cared most lovingly for her. They had an inseparable relationship that truly made these last seven months more durable for Glenda. Glenda retired from the Franziska Racker Children's Center in Ithaca in 2002 after 20 years of dedicated service. She served as a past president of the Burdett Firemen's Women's Auxiliary and was a member of the Moose. She and her husband, Bob, have been avid Buffalo Bills fans. She would enjoy her "visits" with he players and staff, exchanging her thoughts on the best way to strengthen the team. Glenda truly enjoyed golf, bingo, time spent with Maudie, Frank and Pearl on the lake and "traveling with my beloved husband, Bob, and our dog, Cherokee." Those whom she left behind are her husband, Robert L. Bob of Montour Falls; her treasured children, Ronald (Rhoda) Goossen of Watkins Glen, Debbie (Ted) Pipe of Burdett, Lyle (Heather) Goossen of Odessa, her "baby sister" Donna Rose (Dick) Osborne of Hadley, Sandra Keyser of Elmira and Cherie Messersmith of Texas; her stepchildren, Victoria, Robert (Lorma), Valisa (Scott), Jana and Valerie (Van). The joys of her life, her grandchildren, are Bradley and Jacob Goossen, T. J. (Theodore) and Zachery Pipe and Ryan, Jessica and Tyler Goossen. She had several stepgrandchildren; a father- and mother-in-law, Walter and Mildred Bob of Canisteo; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as uncountable friends. Her family would like to thank Dr. Broketa and the wonderful nursing staff on the oncology unit of Robert Packer Hospital for their unending care and support. Many thanks to Ruth Coston for spending quality time with Glenda these past few weeks, enabling her to crochet and enjoy the "hill." Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Vedder and Schott Funeral Home, 534 Church St., Odessa, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at the Odessa Wesleyan Church, Church Street, Odessa, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment
