Elledge, Veatrice
Mrs. Veatrice Elledge died Friday in Winnsboro at the age of 80. She was born on April 30, 1922 to the late Mallie Jackson and Mamie Blake Cates. Mrs. Elledge was a homemaker and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. She married Mr. Delbert C. Elledge on May 28, 1938 and he preceded her in death on November 6, 1999. Mrs. Elledge was also preceded in death by sons, Larry Ladane Elledge and Roy Gene Elledge; brother, Wayne Cates; sister, Lucille Whittaker; great grandson, David William Maples and daughter-in-law, Mary Elledge. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sue Retta and Vannoy Veasey of Mt. Vernon; brother, Charlie Cates of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Evie Bickford, David Maples, Julie Bearden and Tim Elledge; six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Chelsey Morgen Epps
June 18, 1973 – October 8, 2002
Chelsey Morgen Epps of Winnsboro, TX, beloved daughter of Randy and Wendy Epps of Lake Hawkins, formerly of Garland, and beloved mother of Zoe Blair Epps, 6 ½ years old also of Winnsboro, died Tuesday October 8, 2002 as the result of an auto accident.
Chelsey was born in Houston, Texas on June 18, 1973 and lived in Garland until 1983 when she moved with her parents to Winnsboro, Texas.
She was home-schooled until her senior year when she graduated with honors from Quitman H.S. in 1991. For several years she worked at Hawkins Hardware with her grandparents and family. Chelsey also managed the Briar Rose Restaurant in Hawkins from 1992 – 1996. She received her degree in Sign Language Interpretation, graduating
Summa Cum Laude in 2000. She also received her Level 1 Interpreter Certification in 2002. She worked in the East Texas area schools as an interpreter, most recently at Tyler Jr. College, as well as a interpreter at her church on a regular basis, Holly Brook Baptist Church, Holly Lake, Hawkins, Texas where she was involved in music ministry. Chelsey loved the Lord with all her heart and served him gladly through her love of music and interpreting.
Chelsey is also survived by grandparents, Blair and Mary Jane Wright of Winnsboro, TX and by Houston Epps of Canton, TX as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and many friends.
Visitation is on Sunday evening , October 13, 2002 from 6-8 P.M. at Beaty Funeral Home in Hawkins, Texas
Memorial services will be held Monday, October 14, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at Holly Brook Baptist Church, Hawkins, Texas.
A trust fund has been established for Zoe Epps at First State Bank of Hawkins, TX.
Price, Faye
Mrs. Lawanda Faye Price died Saturday in Winnsboro at the age of 67 after a lengthy illness. Faye was born October 20, 1934 in Clarieta, Oklahoma, to James Robert and Susie Eldridge Watson. She married Charles H. Price on June 18, 1954. Faye was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro. She ran a catering business for many years, served as a substitute teacher for several school districts in the area and owned and operated Indian Creek Antiques, but her greatest joy was being a homemaker for her family. She was preceded in death by her father, James Robert Watson, and her daughter, Charlotte Kaye Price.
Survivors include, husband, Charles H. Price of Winnsboro; son, Barry Kim Price of Winnsboro; mother, Susie Watson of Greenville and two grandchildren, Noah Rowley Price and Keenan Isaac Price both of Winnsboro.
Services are set for 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 14, 2002 at the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro with Rev. Larry Ramsour officiating. Interment
will be in Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro.
Cowser, George Leroy
Mr. George Leroy Cowser passed away Sunday, October 13, 2002 in Winnsboro at the age of 87. He was born November 25, 1914 in the Pine Hill Community of Hopkins County to the late Ross L. and Chloe Gist Cowser. He married the former Dolly Dimple Horton on September 28, 1935. Mr. Cowser retired from Lone Star Steel, was a member of the Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a lifelong resident of Winnsboro. He was preceded by a grandson, Mark Nichols in 1985. Survivors are, his wife of 67 years, Dolly Dimple Cowser of Winnsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Benny and Debbie Cowser of Winnsboro; daughter, Minette Nichols of Calhoun, LA.; grandchildren, Nicole Dray of Calhoun, LA., Mike Nichols of Calhoun, LA., Mechelle Rugg of Monroe, LA., Rickey Nichols of Calhoun, LA., Craig Cowser of Longview, Tx., Kevin Cowser of Winnsboro, Tx.; and eight great grandchildren.
Services are set for Wednesday October 16, 2002 at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Smedley and Bro. Dave Johnson Officiating. Interment
will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Hopkins County, Texas.

Smith, Ronnie W.
Mr. Ronnie Winfred Smith died Wednesday in Winnsboro at the age of 61. He was born on June 20, 1941 to Arvin and Jessie Oleta Hill Smith. Mr. Smith worked in the oil field industry and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and a member of the Latter Day Saints in Quitman. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Arvin Smith, a brother, Dalton Smith and a son, Chris Davis. Survivors include his wife, Janice Smith of Winnsboro; mother, Jessie "Jo" Smith of McKinney; daughters, Lisa Goodman of Winnsboro and Sandra Decker of New Jersey; brothers, Junior Smith of Oklahoma, Travis Smith of Oklahoma, Vincent Smith of Oklahoma and Keith Smith of Hawii; sisters, Ann Griffen of McKinney and Delaine Alexander of McKinney; grandchildren, Jesse Goodman of Winnsboro, Crystal Goodman of College Station and a niece, Celing Gregg.
Kalmer, Bernard
Mr. Barnard J. Kalmer died Tuesday, October 22, 2002 in Tyler at the age of 84. He was born March 4, 1918 in Hancock, Michigan to the late, John Vincent and Julia Youngblood Kalmer. He was a retired Finance Manager for Allis-Chambers and served as a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. Mr. Kalmer was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, the Sacred Heart Bible Study Group, a church Lector, and past president of El Dorado Homeowners Association.
Survivors include his daughters, Julia Crump, Karen Lynn, Connie Davis, Denise Pillsbury and two step daughters, Jean Edwards and Janice Clark; brother, Phil Kalmer; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Memorial services are Saturday, October 26, 2002 at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro.

Woodard, Welton
Mr. Welton Woodard passed away Thursday, October 24, 2002 in Tyler at the age of 82. He was born March 4, 1918 in Wood County, Texas to the late Benjamin W. and Florence Bright Woodard. He married the former Lovie Owieta Pollard on Febuary 6, 1960. He served as Staff Sergeant in the US ARMY during WWII and was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Winnsboro. Mr. Woodard served on the Sharon Cemetery Board, was a member of the Winnsboro Rotary Club, Woodman of the World, ARMY National Guard and as Wood County Commissioner Pct. 4 for 10 years. He was preceded by three brothers, Barney Woodard, B.W. Woodard and an infant brother. Survivors include, his wife of 42 years, Lovie Owieta Woodard of Winnsboro; daughters, Ruth Wilcox of Winnsboro, Sue Johnson of Winnsboro; brother, Bud Woodard of McKinney; sisters, Margaret Mayes of Fruitvale, Imogene Allen of Irving, Melba Droese of Ft. Meyers, FL.; grandchildren, Gary Wilcox, Mike Wilcox, Shelley Backer, Robin Johnson, James Johnson, Renae Wright, and John Wilcox; great grandchildren, Craig Wilcox, Steven Wilcox, Linda Wilcox, Chelsey Wilcox, Rachel Backer, Hannah Backer, Savanah Wright, and Cypress Wright.
Services are Sunday, October 27, 2002 at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel in Winnsboro.
Interment
will be in Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro.

Mr. Richard William Lohmann died Saturday, October 26, 2002 in Winnsboro at the age of 60. He was born in New Jersey to the late William Lohmann and Bella Nichol Lohmann. Mr. Lohmann was a Farrie / Horse Shoer and was preceded in death by one son, Richard Lohmann, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years; Judy Matson Lohmann of Winnsboro; sons; Arron Lohmann of Winnsboro and Westley Lohmann of Granbury, TX; daughters, Amy Summerville of Winnsboro, Jennifer Walters of Silver Springs, NY, Judy Gardner of Warsaw, NY, and Patricia Lohmann of Emory, TX; sister Joyce Fairlough of Herman, NY and 13 grandchildren.

Hennessey, Mildred
Ms. Mildred Sunshine Hennessey died Saturday, October 26, 2002 in Winnsboro at the age of 94. She was born in Wood County, Texas to the late John L. and Annie Alta Beck Cassel. Ms. Hennessey was a Hotel Manager and a Piano and Voice Teacher. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Chruch of Winnsboro and was preceded in death by one brother, John Eldon Cassel.
Survivors include her sister, Lanelle Cox of Horatio, AR; two nieces and two nephews.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Terry, Carmen
Mrs. Carmen Lee Terry died Sunday, October 27, 2002 in Winnsboro at the age of 86. She was born December 8, 1915 in Jacksonville, Texas to the late, Grover Cleveland and Pearlie Jane Cone Chitwood. Mrs. Terry was a housewife and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She has lived in Winnsboro for the last 7 years having moved here from Jacksonville. Mrs. Terry was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Claude Chitwood, Doug Chitwood and Macon Chitwood. She married Edgar Lee Terry on November 11, 1933 and he preceded her in death on January 15, 1997.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Jane Terry of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Karen Whittiker of Quitman and Mike Terry of Rustin, LA; great grandchildren, Cody Whittiker, Krystal Whittiker, Ashton Terry, and Alexis Terry.
Funeral services are set for Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at Friendship Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Visitstion will be from 6-8 P.M. Monday at Thompson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Texas. Interment
will be in Corine Cemetery in Cherokie County, Texas.
Smith, Quinton
Mr. Quinton Smith died Sunday, October 27, 2002 in Winnsboro at the age of 83. He was born August 15, 1919 in Moody, Texas to the late, Luther Jackson and Nora Miller Smith. Mr. Smith servied in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Elks Club and the Eagles Organization. He was a former resident of Chichasha, OK having moved to Winnsboro 3 years ago. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Faye Smith and by one brother, J.W. Smith.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Faye Langford Smith of Winnsboro; sons, Q.J. Smith, Jr. of Winnsboro and Terry Lee Smtih of Rowlett; sister, Lorraine Chamblins of Kerrville; six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2002 at the Sevier Funeral Home Chapel in Chickasha, OK the the Rev. David Taylor Officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. At Sevier Funeral Home.
Brown, Allec Andrew
Allec Andrew Brown died November 18, 2002 in his home near Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Martha Pauline (King). A.A. Brown was born near Howe, Texas, September 19, 1915.
He is survived by three sons, Reese and wife Cathy of Hawkins, Marty and wife Rose of Wichita Falls, Dale and wife Evangeline of Plano. There are six grandchildren, Reesa (Brown) Bearse of Hawkins , Marty Brown Jr. of Wichita Falls, Jared Paul Brwon of Edmond OK, Mark A. Brown of Wichita Falls, Conner V. M. Brown of Edmond OK, and Parker Domhchick of Plano. Allec has ten great grandchildren and is survived by one brother, Bo Brown of Dallas.
Allec Andrew Brown was a WWII veteran, having served in Italy and Africa. He recieved three Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. He was buried in the Hawkins Cemetery in Hawkins, Texas.
Marrs, Hoyt Edwards
Mr. Hoyt Edward Marrs died Thursday, November 21, 2002 in Winnsboro at the age of 76. He was born May 25, 1926 in Kellyville, Oklahoma to the late, Thomas Andrew and Mary Ella Ball Marrs. Mr. Marrs was a Machinist for Bell Helicopter and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of Tinney Chapel United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by one sister, Janie Potter.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Marrs of Winnsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Sandra Marrs of Ft. Worth; daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Charles Brewer of Winnsboro; brother, Pete Marrs of Tulsa, OK; sister, Essmer Bean of Missouri; grandchildren, Dawn Woodworth, Mindy Harris, Hollie Parker, Misty Madison and Crystal Marrs; and 5 Great grandchildren.

Byars, LaVerne
Mrs. Eunice LaVerne Blake Byars died Thursday in Dallas at the age of 80. She was born October 11, 1922 in Franklin County, Texas to the late John Dewey and Jewel Hargis Harris. She married Clifton Blake, June 5, 1938 and he preceded her on November 24, 1974. She then married Clyde Byars and he preceded her in 1988. Mrs. Byars was a housewife and a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Winnsboro. Mrs. Byars was preceded by son, Johnny Clifton Blake on March 30, 2000, sister, Laurene Evans, and brother, Rayford Harris. Survivors include son, Marlin Blake of Dallas; daughters, Darleyne Akin of Mesquite, Nancy Blake of Winnsboro, Sue Perez of Mesquite, Mary Wisdom of Mesquite; brothers, Ed Harris of Winnsboro, George Harris of Winnsboro, Lawrence Harris of Yantis, Roy Harris of Emhouse; daughter-in-law, Sharon Blake of Roanoke; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Sutton, Chad
Mr. Chad Forrest Sutton passed away Thursday in Tyler at the age of 17. He was born on May 16, 1985 to David Byron and Risa Jan Whitaker Sutton. Chad was born and raised at Holly Lake Ranch and attended the Holly Tree Chapel. He was baptized in 1993 by the Rev. Charles Reece in Lake Greenbriar. Chad attended Harmony High School where he was a senior. He served on the Harmony High School Band, the Harmony Annual Staff and was a State Qualifier on the 2001 Harmony High School Golf Team. Chad had many friends and was loved by all. Survivors include his parents, David and Risa Sutton of Holly Lake Ranch; brother, Luke Rivers Sutton of Holly Lake Ranch; grandmother, Mattie Lou Whitaker of Paris and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.
Williams, Doris
Mrs. Doris Jean Williams died Monday, December 2, 2002 in Winnsboro at the age of 72. She was born, January 21, 1930 in Camp County, Texas to the late, Preston Clint and Annie Mae Cain Coe. Mrs. Williams was a Housewife and a member of Pine Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Norris Lee Mitcham on March 25, 1988.
Survivors include her husband, James Williams of Winnsboro, sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Judy Mitcham of Bullard and Lynn and Ann Mitcham of Chesapeake, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Twyla and Jessie Sims of Hallsville; sisters Lucille Chambers of Quitman and Olene Arrington of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Christy Farley, Cody Mitcham, Lauren Mitcham, Brandi Sims, Brittany Sims, and Nicholas Mitcham.

Mrs. Carol Anne Lindley died Thursday, December 5, 2002 in Winnsboro at the age of 50. She was born, September 25, 1952 in Beloit, Kansas to Glen Chester and Evelyn Marr Williams. Mrs. Lindley was a homemaker and a member of Coldwater Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of thirty-two years, Bobby Lindley of Winnsboro; parents, Glen and Evelyn Williams of Alton, KS; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Jo and Jennifer Lindley of Winnsboro; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Keith Romine of Winnsboro, Amber Lindley of Winnsboro, Tina and Jerry McCoy of Winnsboro, Shawnna and Stephen Essl of Winnsboro, and Tara Lindley of Winnsboro; brothers, Johnny Williams of Osbourne, KS and Bryan Williams of Alton Kansas; and ten grandchildren.
