Barnhart, Mackey
Mr. Mackey Lewis Barnhart passed away Monday in Winnsboro at the age of 57. He was born in Farersville, Texas to the late Horace and Gladys Kuykendal Barnhart. He married the former Norma McBride on September 18, 1963. He was a self-employed brick mason and was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include, his wife of 39 years, Norma McBride Barnhart of Winnsboro; son, Norman Barnhart of Winnsboro; daughters, Donna Thurman of Winnsboro, Glenda Hayes of Winnsboro, Susan Chunn of Winnsboro, Tina Parker of Winnsboro; four brother; six sisters; fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Boorman, Ethel
Mrs. Ethel Florence Boorman died Saturday in Winnsboro at the age of 89. She was born on November 10, 1913 to the late Frances Marion and and Nettie Beasley Stanford. Mrs. Boorman was a bookkeeper and a member of the North Ft. Worth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. John S. Boorman on February 20, 1998. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Helen Boorman of Winnsboro; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Stewart, Margaret
Mrs. Margaret Stewart died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003 in Winnsboro at the age of 85. She was born Sep. 23, 1917 in Pierre, SD to the late, Ivan and Mary West. Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker and was active in the Gideons and the Salvation Army. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thornton Stewart on July 21, 1985.
Survivors include her son, Thornton Michael Stewart of Houston, daughters, Mary Carolyn Stewart Hinds of Monterrey, CA and Eugenia Stewart James of Winnsboro; seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Graveside services are set for 2:00 P.M. Thursday in Lee Cemetery with the Rev. Henry Suche Officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lake Country Bible Church of the Gilbreath Memorial Library.
Duncan, E.C.
Mr. E.C. Duncan died Monday at the age of 89. He was born on May 9, 1913 to the late Edward Columbus Duncan and Arlie Earhart Duncan. Mr. Duncan was an electrician and was the oldest member of the IBEW Union in Corpus Christi. He was a lifetime member of the Cypress Springs V.F.W. and was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Winnsboro. He was preceded in death by his wife, Felda Ormsby Duncan on November 12, 1996; by a daughter, Belva Stribling, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his son, John Duncan of California; daughter, Carolyn Cowan of Eddy, Texas; sister, Frances Kelley of Bloomberg, Texas; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral Services are set for 11:oo A.M. Thursday at the Beaty Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Taylor Officiating. Interment
will be in the Blackoak Cemetery in Hopkins County.
Memorials may be made to the Walnut Street Baptist Church.
Edwards, Joyce
Mrs. Joyce Ann Edwards passed away Sunday in Winnsboro at the age of 54. She was born in Ardmore, OK. to the late Lawrence Lee and Melba Joyce Patton. She was married to Jesse Harrel Edwards and was a custodian for the Winnsboro Independent School District. She was preceded by one brother. Survivors include, husband, Jesse H. Edwards of Winnsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Ronny and Michele Patton of Rhome; brothers, Jerry Patton of Waynesville, MO., Harold Patton of Ft. Worth, Rickey Patton of Ft. Worth; sister, Donna Russell of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Samantha Patton and Savanha Patton.
Funeral Services are set for 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the Beaty Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Pangle and Rev. Charles Ethridge Officiating. Interment
will be in Bridges Chapel Cemetery.
Cater, Zelda Irene
Mrs. Zelda Irene Cater passed away Saturday, March1, 2003 in Winnsboro at the age of 96. She was born, October 21, 1906 in Winnsboro, Texas to the late James Robert and Florence King Reid. She married Virgil Cater on September 3, 1927 and he preceded her on November 8, 1988. She was a housewife and a member of the Sharon Baptist Church in Winnsboro. She was preceded by seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include, her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Margie Cater of Garland; daughter and son-in-law, Dale and Fred Howard of Winnsboro, daughter, Melba Usrey of Dallas; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
Funeral service are set for, Monday, March 3, 2003 in the Beaty Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Livaudais officiating. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Graves, Truman
Mr. Truman Thomas Graves passed away Thursday, March 13, 2003 in Tyler at the age of 86. He was born March 7, 1917 in Clearwater, Texas to the late W.H. "Luther" and Pearl Dickens Graves. He married the former Marjorie Spangler on February 3, 1940 and she preceded him on September 20, 1997. He had been a switchman - conductor with the Santa Fe Railroad for 38 years before retiring. He was a member of the National Guard, past Master Mason of the Winnsboro Lodge, member of the Clearwater Baptist Church where he served as deacon and taught sunday school for many years.
Survivors include, sons, T.C. Graves of Scroggins, Burl Graves of Baton Rouge, LA.; brother, Dalton Graves of Mt. Vernon; sister, Junie Hobbs of Amarillo; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 P.M. Sunday March 16, 2003, at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Dalton Graves officiating. Interment
will be in Bethel Cemetery.
Soden, Curtis A.
Mr. Curtis Albert Soden passed away Saturday, March 15, 2003 in Winnsboro at the age of 78. He was born, August 9, 1924 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late, Howard N. and Violet Morris Soden. He married the former Eunice Shirley Eldred on October 18, 1975. He retired from the Binghamton Press Newspaper in New York where he was a pressman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro, of the Winnsboro Humane Society, and he played his harmonica at the local nursing homes for the residents.
Survivors include, wife, Shirley Soden of Winnsboro; son, David John Soden of Brick, New Jersey; daughters, Beverly Jean Crawford of Mt. Upton, NY., Elizabeth Wright of Florida, Rebecca Jo Condon of Otego, NY., Barbara Elaine Pecor of Florida; step-son, Michael Henry Bryden of New Berlin, NY.; step-daughters, Gail Anderson of Syracuse, NY., Karole Strayer of North Richland Hills, Tx., Joy Tracy of Sherboine, NY; twenty eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Memorial services are 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 17, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro with Rev. Henry Suche officiating.

Carter, Neil W.
Mr. Neil W. Carter died Saturday, March 29, 2003 in Winnsboro at the age of 63. He was born, July 26, 1939 in Gilmer to the late, Alton Henry and Ruth Hudgins Carter. He was a retired surveyor for the Texas State Department of Highway and Transportation and a member of the Forrest Grove United Methodist Church in Winnsboro. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by one son, Derwin Neil Carter on June 8, 2002 and by two brothers, Paul and James Carter.
Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Linda Hutchins Carter of Winnsboro; daughters, Sharon Carter of Irving and Stacey Spencer of Royce City; brothers, Guy Carter of Pleasant Grove and Alton Carter of Dallas; sisters, Janice Goodson of Gilmer, Sandra Money of Longview, and Deloris Williams of Mesquite; sister-in-law, Brenda Howle of Winnsboro; brother-in-law, Charlie Hutchins of Mesquite; grandson, Johnathan Williams; nephews, Ronald Howle and William & Stephanie Howle; great nieces, Kayli & Alexis Howle; friend, Adlie Smith and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Smith, C.B.
Mr. C.B. Smith died Thursday, March 27, 2003 in Tyler at the age of 76. He was born, December 13, 1926 in Wheelock, Texas to the late Robert Andrew and Cornelia Armstrong Smith. Mr. Smith served in the Army During WWII. He was a former Elder of the Big Sandy Church of Christ and former Deacon at the Highland Hills Church of Christ in San Antonio. He was the owner of S&S Pump Service and retired from Gulf Oil. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew, Lynn, Weldon, James, Henry, Clarence, and Raymond Smith; sisters, Lucille Deal and Lorene Johnson.

Kattes, Hugh
Mr. Hugh H. Kattes died Wednesday, April 2, 2003 in Tyler at the age of 75. He was born September 8, 1927 to the late, John Rex and Ruby Lee Kattes. Mr. Kattes served in the Army during the Korean War and was retired from Ford Tracker. He was a member of the Pine Street Baptist Church and was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Mildred F. Vaughn Kattes of Winnsboro; son and daughter-in-law, David and Molly Kattes of Snyder; daughter, Evelyn Kattes of Sulphur Springs; brother, J.B. Kattes of Longview; sister, Pauline Smith of Keene; grandchildren, Cari and Bryan Limmer and Kelly Stowers; great grandchildren, Griffin Limmer, Bailey Limmer, Hannah Limmer, and Madilyn Stowers.

Lindley, Jerry M.
Mr. Jerry M. Lindley died Wednesday at the age of 61. He was born March 17, 1942 to Alton and Lorene Robinson Lindley. Mr. Lindley was a baptist and was preceded in death by his father, Alton Lindley. Survivors include his mother,Lorene Lindley of Winnsboro, TX; and sister, Doris Pool of Yantis, TX.
Traugott, Marvin
Mr. Marvin W. Traugott was called home to be with the Lord while doing his favorite past time "Golfing", Monday in Longview at the age of 70. He was born January 22, 1933 in Orlando, Oklahoma to the late Alvin and Dorothy Brown Traugott. He married the former Mary Yarbrough June 16, 1956. He was retired from Mind Health & Safety Administration as a Inspector Supervisor. Mr. Traugott served in the US Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict, served as Winnsboro's Police Chief from 1968 until 1970, was a member and Council Member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Scroggins, member of the Cypress Creek Country Club and the East Texas Senior Mens Golf Association. Mr. Traugott battled heart disease for more than 20 years and He was the first patient to complete the Winnsboro Presbyterian Hospital's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. He was preceded by, sister, Cheryl Bunch and son, Tony Traugott. Survivors include, his wife of 46 years, Mary Yarbrough Traugott of Winnsboro; son, Dennis Jordan of Garland; sister, LuAnn Carmon of Powell, WY; brothers, John Traugott of Edmond, OK., Tim Traugott of Grenada, MS., Mark Traugott of Wylie; grandson, Austin Traugott; and father & mother-in-law, Marvin and Hallie Collins of Winnsboro.
Wilcox, Christine
Mrs. Christine Ayers Wilcox died Tuesday in Winnsboro at the age of 87. She was born, May 24, 1915 in Camp County, Texas to the late Richard J. and Artie M. Powell Ayers. Mrs. Wilcox was a copy coordinator for Taylor Publishing in Dallas, Texas. She married Rolon A. Wilcox on January 21, 1939. Mrs. Wilcox was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church and has lived in Winnsboro since 1978. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Rolon A. Wilcox and by two brothers, Preston Ayers and Ralph Ayers. Survivors include her sons, Archie Wilcox of Houston and Richard Wilcox of Dallas; daughters, Patricia Abdallah of Laredo, TX, Sue Kelley of Whitewright, Jeanne Wilcox of Bedford, and Theresa Spurgin of Whitewright; sisters, Lousie Hewitt of Sulphur Springs, Dorothy Pittman of Winnsboro, and Billye Messimer of Sunnyville, TX; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.
Swann, Roy L.
Mr. Roy L. Swann went to be with the Lord on Saturday at the age of 84. He was born on November 26, 1918 to the late James A. and Ivy Mae Moss Swann. Mr. Swann served in the U.S. Army during WWII, was a retired machinist and married the former Hazel L. Pinson on June 30, 1939. He was a member of the East Point Baptist Church where he was a deacon and had served as the song leader for over fifty years. Mr. Swann was preceded in death by a son, Bobby R. Swann; brothers, Jim Swann and Gerald Swann and sisters, Lois Bailey and Tyrece Martin. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Hazel Swann of Winnsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Bette Swann of Winnsboro; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Sue and M.J. Collins of Tyler and Sharlyn and David Smith of Longview; brothers, Eugene L. Swann of Lewisville, Dorman Swann of Winnsboro, Arvil Swann of Winnsboro and Laveren Swann of Winnsboro; sisters, Dell Lambert of Rockwall, Joy Walsh of Winnsboro and Rebecca Bench of Dallas; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Christi Michelle Dickey passed away Sunday, April 27, 2003 in Paris, Texas at the age of 28. She was born October 1, 1974 in Camden, Arkansas to Danny Wilson Bethea and Judy Holt. She was a homemaker and a baptist.

Robinson,Doris June
Mrs. June Robinson went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 29, 2003. She was born on January 11, 1947 to O.M. and Maxine Biscamp Johnson. She married Mr. Glenn Robinson on November 26, 1964. Mrs. Robinson worked many years as a legal secretary until 1991 when she was elected as the Wood County Treasurer. She served this office until her retirement on December 21, 2002. Mrs. Robinson was a baptist and a member of the Lake Fork Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Mr. Glenn Robinson of Coke; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelley and Wesley Price of Quitman and Tiffany and Kevin Gilbreath of Quitman; mother, Maxine Johnson of Winnsboro; brother, Norman Johnson of Winnsboro; sister, Mary Cooper of Missouri and five grandchildren, Lindsey Price, Cassidy Price, Tanner Gilbreath, Aubrey Gilbreath and Hunter Gilbreath.

Chamness, Dixie
Mrs. Dixie Chamness died Monday, April 28, 2003 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. She was born August 28, 1929 in Ropesville, Texas to the late, Edmond Howard and Bertha Manning Awbrey. She was a housewife, mother and was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hollis Chamness in 1992.
Survivors include her sons, Mike Snead of Hobbs, NM, Joe Boggess of Whitefish, Montana, Ricky Chamness of Mt. Pleasant and David Chamness of Mt. Pleasant; daughters, Brenda Lloyd of Mt. Pleasant, Patricia Hartman of Lubbock, and Marsha Plunkett of Winnsboro; brothers, Bob Awbrey of Sundown, TX and Edmond Awbrey of Muleshoe, TX; sister, Sue Barnett of Comanche, TX; seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
