Mr. Phillip Cribb
Mr. Phillip Cribb, 61, died Tueday afternoon (May 1, 2001) at his residence after a short illness. He is a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. He was a sheetmetal worker at CSX Railroad for 42 years. He was a member of the Sheetmetal Workers of CSX, Local 422 Union, and a Safety Award Winner at the railroad. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, and president of the Kingsmen Sunday School Class for 8 years. His parents were the late Samuel O. Cribb and Lucille Mullis Cribb. He is survived by his wife, Angelyn Beverly Cribb of Waycross; one daughter, Dana Dixon (husband Mark) of Blackshear; two grandchildren, Dustin Kinnon and Haley Dixon of Blackshear; one step-grandchild, Bradi Dixon of Blackshear; one sister, Mary Ann Belisario of Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday (May 3, 2001) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vernell Strickland Cribb
Mrs. Vernell Strickland Cribb, 84, died Sunday morning (6-10-01) at Satilla Care Center after a short illness. She was a native of Ware County and the daughter of the late Samuel Authur Strickland and Maggie Henderson Strickland and the widow of the late Henry Marvin Cribb also preceeding her in death were three brothers Sam,Hoover, and Alvin Strickland. She was retired with Waycross Sports Wear and a member of West Carswell Baptist Church. She is survived by a daugher Janice Cribb Linger; a son Edward Warren Cribb both of Waycross; two granddaughters Tonya L. Kirkendall of Garland,TX., Rhonda L. Thompson of Vidalia; six great grandchildren; four sisters Gertrude Hewett, Mary Lou Inman, Aileen Minchew Collins, Blanche Taylor all of Waycross; four brothers Otis Strickland, Zeke Strickland, Henry Strickland all of Waycross, Bill Strickland of Homerville. A service is planned for 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 o'clock Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dorothy Hiott
Mrs. Dorothy Hiott, 26, died suddenly Saturday (May 5, 2001) at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. She is a native and resident of Ware County, but she has lived most of her life in Brantley County. She worked as a substitute teacher, and she was a member of Brunel St. Church of God. She is the daughter of Ray Sims and the late Lelia Mae Hickox. She is survived by her husband, Curtis Hiott of Waycross; three adopted children, Mardi, Victoria and Beth Britton all of Waycross; father, Ray Sims of Alabama; two brothers, Wiley Petty of Panama City, FL, and Keith Petty of Hoboken; one sister, Retha Sims of Hoboken; four nieces, Ashley and Megan Petty both of Waynesville, and Jessica Sims and Angela Britton both of Hoboken; eight step-children and 24 step-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Rosie Hiott of Waycross; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday (May 8, 2001) at Brunel St. Church of God. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 until 9 p.m. Monday at Music Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dossie K. Dyal
Mrs. Dossie K. Dyal, 91, died Tuesday (May 8, 2001) in Satilla Regional Medical Center following a short illness. She was a native of Charlton County and had resided in Ware and Charlton County most of her life. She was married to the late Lewis Jackson Dyal and was daughter of the late Kyler Johns and Agnes Todd Johns and was preceded in death by a daughter, Marion Cox. Mrs. Dyal was a member of the Way of Holiness Church of God. The survivors include four daughters, Edna Smith of Lake Butler, Fla., Elma Carter (husband Raymond), Margaret Aldridge, Glenda Browning (husband Clarence) all of Waycross; three sons, Lewis Dyal, Jr. (wife Ima Jean), Ronnie Dyal, Bennie Dyal (wife Rose Marie) all of Waycross; 24 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (May 10, 2001)in the Racepond Church of God. Burial will be in the Sandhill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Mrs. Naomi Schultze
Mrs. Naomi Schultze, 70, died early Saturday (June 2, 2001) in Satilla Regional Medical Center following a long illness. She was a native of Kirkland but had resided in Blackshear for the past 12 years. She was daughter of the late Cleon Belch and Eva Davis Belch. The survivors include her husband, Robert R. Schultze of Blackshear; two daughters, Paulette Courson (husband Larry) of Pearson, Kathryn Elias (husband Drew)of St. Paul, Minn.; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Sunday (June 3, 2001) night from 7 until 9 o'clock. Memorialization will be by cremation.

Mrs. Dorothy Taylor Richmond
Mrs. Dorothy Taylor Richmond, 73, died Sunday (June 3, 2001) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a short illness. She is a native of Bacon County, but she has lived most of her life in Waycross. She is retired from Wal-Mart, where she greeted people. She is the daughter of the late James Taylor and Beattie Spell Taylor. She is the wife of the late Hugh B. Richmond. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Thatcher and Linda Dennis (husband Edward) both of Waycross; one sister, Lucille Corbitt of Waycross; two grandchildren, Jeff and Kelly Dennis both of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews. Memorialization is by cremation, and the services will be private. Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Justin William Howell
Justin William Howell, age 12, died Thursday afternoon at Satilla Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Waycross, and a graduate from Center Elementary School. He is survived by his father and mother; Danny & Krissy ONeal Howell of Waycross, a brother; Danny Howell, Jr. wife Lisa of Waycross,nephew; Dalton Howell of Waycross, grandparents; Betty Lou Howell of Waycross, Willene ONeal of Blackshear, numerous aunts,uncles & other relatives. A serivces is planned for 3:00 pm Sunday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 o'clock Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Anna Meissner Platt
Mrs. Anna Meissner Platt, 62, died Saturday (6-9-01) in Opelika, AL after a short illness. She was a native of Germany but had lived in Riverdale for the past 30 years. She was the daughter of the late Johann Meissner and Anna Schoppel and the widow of the late Jerry Platt. She was retired with Ingles Grocery as a clerk. She was a member of St. Phillips Catholic Church in Jonesboro. She is survived by a daughter Dagmar P. Thurmond of Vicksburg, MS; a son Wolfgang M. Platt of Conyers; a sister Margit Bier of Damslos Germany; a brother Hans Meissner of Wissembourg France; four grandchildren Jennifer Platt, Christina Platt, Anna Augusta Thurmond, Megan Thurmond. A serivce is planned for 11:00 am Wednesday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Denise Louise Davis
Mrs. Denise Louise Davis, 46, died Monday (May 28, 2001) at her residence in Marietta. She is a native of Vernon, LA, but was a resident of Marietta. She was a homemaker. She is the daughter of the late Harley Leon Davis. She is survived by her husband, Col. Michael H. Davis of Marietta; one son, Sgt. Chad Davis of Hinesville; two daughters, Melissa Davis and Sarah E. Davis both of Marietta; her mother, Josephine Barber Davis of Houston, TX; three brothers, Donald P. Davis of Texas, Darwin Davis of Pineville, LA, and Dennis Davis of Moss Bluff, LA; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday (May 31, 2001) at Roy Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Austell. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday (June 1, 2001) at Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Leonard M. Courson
Mr. Leonard M. Courson, 69, died suddenly Thursday (May 31, 2001) in Satilla Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Pierce County but had resided in Waycross most of his life. He was son of the late D. W. Courson and Eddie Hiers Courson. He was retired from CSX Railroad and after retirement he worked with Electrolux. Mr. Courson was a member and a deacon of Second Baptist Church and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. The survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean Taylor Courson of Waycross; a daughter, Melissa Courson Hickox (husband David) of LaGrange; two grandchildren, Brooks and Brittany Hickox; a sister, Minnie Lee Taylor of Waycross; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday (June 3, 2001)in the Second Baptist Church. Entombment will be in the Greenlawn Mausoleum. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home tonight from 7 until 9 o'clock. The family request memorials be given to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund. The deacons of the church and the Second Baptist Church Sunday School Adult Mens Classses are requested to meet at the Church Sunday at 2:30 p.m. to served as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Andrew William Scott
Mr. Andrew William Scott, Sr., 74, died Friday (June 1, 2001) in Satilla Regional Medical Center following a long illness. He was a native of Harbor, Ind. but had resided in Indiana and Florida most of his life. He was married to the late Effie Lee Sills Scott and was preceded in death by a son, Andrew William Scott, Jr. He was a retired photographer and served in the Navy during World War II. The survivors include two sons, Michale D. Scott of New York, Dennis Scott of Waycross; two grandchildren and one great granddaughter. A memorial service for Mr. Andrew William Scott, Sr. will be held Monday (June 4, 2001) at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Music Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends following the service until 9 o'clock. Memorialization will be by cremation.

Mrs. Clara G. Blount
Mrs. Clara G. Blount, 86, died Monday (June 11, 2001) at Baptist Village after an extended illness. She is a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. She was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church. She is the daughter of the late W. C. (Bill) Gardner and Myra Thomas Gardner. She is the husband of the late Ernest Long (E. B.) Blount. She is also preceded in death by a son, Ernest Blount, Jr. and daughter, Jeanette Blount Sowell. She is survived by her son, Thomas E. Blount (wife Marlene) of Waycross; seven grandchildren, Bonnie Bickerstaff of Elkmont, AL, Tommy Blount, Jr. of Key West, FL, Toni Blount of Waycross, Mike Sowell of Waycross, Timmy Blount of Waycross, Robin Sowell of Waycross, and Tinker Blount of Waycross; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Davis of Waycross; one brother, Jim Gardner of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday (June 13, 2001) at Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Music Funeral Home.

Mr. Robert J. (Bob) Lenihan
Mr. Robert J. (Bob) Lenihan, 75, died Tuesday (June 12, 2001) at Satilla Regional Medical Center. He is a native of Chicago, IL, but he has lived most of his life in Waycross. He is retired from Georgia Power Company as a lineman. He was a member of the Retired Ambassadors with Georgia Power Company. He is also a member of the St. Josephs Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. His parents are the late John Joseph Lenihan and Agnes Dvorak Lenihan. He now joins his beloved grandson, Matthew Halter, in heaven. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Lenihan of Waycross; two daughters, Nina Halter (husband Paul) of Jacksonville, FL, and Susan Buckner of Waycross; seven grandchildren, Eric Halter (wife Linda) of Jacksonville, FL, Lori Berry (husband John) of Atlanta, Kelly Englert (husband Curt) and Chris Halter (wife Keri) both of Jacksonville, FL, Bucky, Katie and Lydia Buckner all of Waycross; three great grandsons; one sister, Lois Jeffcott (husband Jeff) of N. Palm Beach, FL; and numerous other relatives. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday (June 14, 2001) at St. Josephs Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The retired employees of Georgia Power Company are asked to meet 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church to serve as honorary pallbearers. A rosary service will take place 7 p.m. Wednesday at Music Funeral Home, and the visitation will follow the service until 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Waycross Army Airfield Monument Fund, 911 Golfview Dr., Waycross, GA 31501.

Mrs. Juanita Sowell Pitts
Mrs. Juanita Sowell Pitts, 71, died Tuesday (June 12, 2001) in St. Vincents Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla. following a short illness. She was native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was daughter of the late Estelle Sweat and Emma Waters Sweat. She was retired from Baptist Village and was a member of the Pebble Hill Baptist Church. The survivors include her husband, G.L. (Bud) Pitts of Waycross; five daughters, Pat Roundtree (husband Ray) and Debbie Skipper (husband Pete) both of Waycross, Marie Holman (husband John) of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Claudia Lyons (husband Buddy) of Richmond Hill, Betty Jo May (husband Buzz) of Eastman; six sons, Troy Kenny Sowell (wife Teresa), Richard Sowell (wife Pam), Benny Jolley (wife Alice) and Rickey Pitts (wife Kathleen) all of Waycross, Junior Pitts (wife Sherrie) of Kingsland, Edward Pitts (wife Dorcas) of Ludowici; four sisters, Wilma Murray, Ruth Thomas and Emmalene McDaniel all of Waycross, Sadie Musgrove of Millwood; three brothers, James Sweat, Virgil Sweat and Tommy Sweat all of Waycross; 31 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday (June 13, 2001) in the Pebble Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 until 9 o'clock.

Mr. Larry Charles Taucer
Mr. Larry Charles Taucer, 56, died Friday (May 11, 2001) at his residence following a long illness. He was a native of Waco, Texas but resided in Brantley County for the past 12 years. His mother was the late Helen Pollard Taucer. He was employeed with St. Marys Railroad in St. Marys. The survivors include his wife, Sandra Taucer of Hoboken; his father, Willie Taucer of Buna, Texas; two brothers, Richard Taucer and Anton Taucer (wife Sharon) all of Buna, Texas; three nephews, Philip Taucer and William Taucer both of Buna, Texas, Justin Thigpen of Waycross; mother-in-law, Edith Jones of Hoboken; sister-in-law, Cheryl Griffin (husband Donald) of Waycross; brother-in-law, Daryl Jones (wife Debra) of Valdosta; a aunt, Pauline Wilson of Houston, Texas and many loving friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday (May 14, 2001) in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Buna, Texas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Mr. Leonard Warren (L.W.) Turner, Jr.
Mr. Leonard Warren (L.W.) Turner, Jr., 70, died suddenly Monday (Apr. 30, 2001) at Satilla Regional Medical Center. He is a native and lifelong resident of Dixie Union. He was a farmer and a carpenter. He also served in the United States Army and was a member of the VFW. He attended Liberty Baptist Church. He is the son of the late Leonard W. Turner, Sr. and Isabelle Lee Turner. His wife was the late Ida Sears Turner. He is survived by five daughters, Sheila Platt (Husband Rick), Marie Rowland (Husband Dahryl), Linda Reynolds (Husband Greg), Teresa Morgan (Husband Billy) all of Waycross, and Lisa Gill (Husband Marvin) of Holly Hill, SC; one son, Leonard W. Turner III (Friend Terri) of Waycross; two sisters, Rosa Lee King and Nelliophay McGee both of Waycross; fifteen grandchildren, Brian King, Deanna Clem, Jessica Peters, Leonard W. Turner IV, Matthew, Ashley and Katie Turner, Kim Vick, Kurt and Hank Landrum, Wendy, Melissa and Billy Morgan, Renee McQuaig and Marvin Gill; seven great grandchildren, Corissa Harris, Brandon Clem, Brigitte Peters, Kara Vick, Madison Williford, Ashlyn and Derick McQuaig; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday (Apr. 30, 2001) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
