Eila Chisholm, 94, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl and formerly of Buck Street in Canton, died on February 11, 2005 at her home. The funeral will be was held as a memorial service on April 2, 2005, at the Calvary Prebyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale.
Graveside services will be Saturday, May 28, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the Evergreen Cemetery, Canton. The Rev. Michael P. Catanzaro will officiate. Local arrangements by Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton. Condolences may be sent to the online guest book at www.funeralhome.org Surviving are her two sons, Richard Chisholm of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and William Chisholm of Tampa, FL; two sisters-in-law; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Born September 10, 1910 in Pyrites, NY she was a daughter of the late, James and Martha Bellinger Given. She was a graduate of Canton High Class of 1929, where she enjoyed studying and playing basketball. Mrs. Chisholm worked in her mother’s beauty salon until she married George Chisholm on August 7, 1933 in Canton. The two lived on Buck Street in Canton for thirty seven years until their retirement to Ft. Lauderdale, Fl in 1970. She was a devoted super wife and loving super mom. For years she cared for ill and dependant family members. Mrs. Chisholm was a devout Christian; she loved her Church, Grace Episcopal in Canton, where she and George were very active until their retirement. She also loved to play golf and enjoyed playing cards; especially Bridge. She was a life-time member of the St. Lawrence Golf and Country Club. Her sensitive nature was often masked by the realities of day to day life. When she and her husband retired to Florida, she left a legacy of many friends. Her retirement in Florida was devoted to sharing with and caring for her husband. Calvary Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale quickly became their new Christian home. Mrs. Chisholm’s new friendships grew to become long lasting comforts after the death of her husband in 1990. She cherished the frequent lunch dates, shopping sprees and afternoon/ evening Bridge games with her friends. She also loved to read and seldom missed a Marlin’s baseball game or a Miami Heat basketball game.

David H. Richardson, 63, 21 Goodrich Street, Canton, died on May 16, 2005 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. The funeral will be held as a memorial service at 11:00 A.M, at the Gunnison Chapel, St. Lawrence University Campus in Canton on May 21, 2005.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 pm-7 pm at the Lawrence Funeral Home. A private Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Canton. Surviving are three daughters, Sara J. Ricalton and husband Alan T. of Natural Bridge, NY, Lori A. McGrath and husband Peter L. of Rochester, NY, Jennifer L. Richardson and George K. Jaquette of Scarsdale, NY; one son, John D. Richardson of South Boston, MA; three brothers, Warren A. Richardson and wife Nancy of Orrington, ME, Robert G. Richardson of South Carolina, and Mark J. Richardson of Watertown, NY, four grandchildren, Maria L. and Darren T. Ricalton of Natural Bridge, NY and Owen R. and Ethan R. Jaquette of Scarsdale, NY. Mr. Richardson was predeceased by his wife, Ann, who died March 27, 2003. Born on July 3, 1941 in Carthage, he was the son of Warren Allan and Pauline Emma Herzig Richardson. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1959 and earned his B.A. from Colgate University in 1963, Phi Beta Kappa, where he was a member and Captain of the Golf Team. Mr. Richardson went on to obtain his M.S. and Ph.D. from Purdue University. On August 22, 1964, he married Ann Lormore at the First Methodist Church in Lowville, NY. Mr. Richardson, Dana Professor of Economics, joined the faculty of St. Lawrence University in 1979, having taught at the University of Kansas from 1966-1972 and the University of Kentucky from 1972-1979. During his career as a professor, he did sabbatical in Malaysia from 1975-1977, Washington from 1989-1990 and Vancouver, British Columbia from 1993-1994. He offered the 1991 Frank P. Piskor Faculty Lecture, on the currently timely topic “Privatization of Social Security: An Idea Whose Time Has Come and Gone.” In 1992, he received the J. Calvin Keene Award. He was department chair for many years, and also served as Faculty Council chair, a member of the Professional Standards Committee and a faculty delegate to the Board of Trustees. His fields of specialization were econometrics and labor economics. Mr. Richardson has published articles in numerous economic journals. He also completed consulting work as a forensic economist. In 2005, Mr. Richardson retired due to illness. He was a four-time club champion at Carlowden Country Club, ran in the Stillman Foote Races in the late 1970’s, coached Canton Pee Wee baseball and softball. He was also an avid fly fisherman, member of the Cranberry Boat Club and a Commodore for two terms, a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, a devoted fan of SLU hockey and other sports, a member of the Board of Trustees of Canton Free Library, Canton Day Care Center and Canton Pee Wee Association. Mr. Richardson had traveled to the Kentucky Derby in early May of this year. Aileen Hutchinson, 89, Claremore, Oklahoma and formerly of 37 Riverside Drive, Canton, died Friday April 22, 2005 in Claremore Nursing Home in Claremore, OK. The funeral will be Friday April 29, 2005 at 1:00pm, at the Fairview Cemetery in Canton.
Burial will be in Fair View Cemetery in Canton with Rev. James M. Brand, pastor, Canton United Methodist Church, officiating. Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law Mrs. Jeri Collins, Claremore, OK, Pauline McMaster and her husband, James “Jim”, Gulf Port, Mississippi, one son and daughter in law David and Sharon Hutchinson, Phoenix, Arizona; 9 Grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one great great grandson; and a sister Pauline Lambert, Canton, one niece and one nephew. She is predeceased by her husband, two sons, and a son in law. Born September 16, 1915, in Mallorytown, Ont. Canada the daughter of Fred Henry Nowlan and Vivian Osier, she attended Canton High School where she later received her CED in Tucson Arizona, then went to school in Phoenix and received her LPN license. Mrs. Hutchinson married Donald Charles Hutchinson in Canton, Mr. Hutchinson died in 1994.In 1996 she moved to Claremore OK. To be near he daughter, Jeri . The Hutchinson family moved to Tucson, Arizona due to their youngest daughters health needs. While in Tucson Mrs. Hutchinson studied and received her U.S. Citizenship. Mrs. Hutchinson enjoyed traveling, embroidering, and spending time with her family.

William E. "Bill" Tracy, 80, 584 County Route 14, Rensselaer Falls, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at United Helpers Canton Nursing Home. The funeral will be Thursday April 28, 2005 at 2:00, at the Lawrence Funeral Home.
Burial with Military Honors will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Tracy died Sunday evening at United Helpers Canton Nursing Home, where he had been a patient since May 4, 1998. Surviving Mr. Tracy are his wife Doris, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Joseph and his wife Sandra, Rensselaer Falls, Kurt, Canton, two daughters, Joanne Tracy, Lakeport, Kelly Tracy, Rensselaer Falls, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters, Eileen Peters, Canton, Inez Madill, Heuvelton and several nieces and nephews. Predeceasing Mr. Tracy is one son William A., who died on Nov. 26, 1996, and two brothers Roger and Leon ”Farmer” Tracy, and two sisters, Doris Burwell and Mabel Kenyon. Born in Lisbon on August 16, 1924, he was the son of Erastus Sidney and Mae Goodison Tracy and attended Heuvelton High School. He later attended many General Motors Training Classes. On July 30, 1946, he married Doris Locke at the First Presbyterian Church of Ogdensburg with Rev. Melville Nesbit, Jr., officiating. The age of 17, Mr. Tracy worked on the installation of power lines in Northern New York. He served in the United States Army during World War II from November 20, 1945 until March 21, 1946. After returning from the service, he worked at Kinman’s Garage in Norwood in the bodyshop. In the late 1950’s he started his own bodyshop on the Russell Road at the current site of Star Route Sales and Service. Later, he worked at various area garages doing body and restoration work, including Clarence Collins in Ogdensburg, and most recently for Frank Mace at Mace Motors, where he ran the bodyshop and restoration of antique automobiles. He retired in 1983. Mr. Tracy enjoyed hunting especially at Massawepie Lake. He enjoyed playing the fiddle and became quite proficient at playing.

Alma T. Burkman, 90, 18 Farmer Street, Canton, died Tuesday April 19, 2005 at United Helpers Canton Nursing Home. The funeral will be Saturday April 23, 2005 at 10:30am, at the Grace Episcopal Church, Canton.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday afternoon and evening from 5-8 at the Lawrence Funeral Home, where the Canton Fire Department will meet at 7:30. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Anne Cline and her husband, Charles “Chuck”, Livonia, one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ronald T., Jr. and his wife, Mildred “Millie”, Longmeadow, MA. four grandchildren; Jason Burkman, Indianapolis, Marnie, Phoenix, AZ., Jennifer Mariani, and Christine Cline, both of Rochester, one great grandson Adam Mariani. Born in Somerville, New Jersey, on January 10, 1915, she was the daughter of Alvah and Mary Figgle Tunison and graduated from Somerville High School in 1933. In 1937 she graduated from the Somerset Hospital School of Nursing in New Jersey. On June 10, 1942, she married Ronald Thomas Burkman at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Potsdam. Mr. Burkman, for whom the Burkman Gymnasium on the St. Lawrence University Campus was named, died December 1, 1996. Prior to her marriage, she worked at the Somerset Hospital and later at Potsdam Hospital from 1940-1942. At the time the E.J. Noble Hospital in Canton opened in the early 1950’s, she worked part-time and later worked full time until retiring in 1970. Mrs. Burkman was a founding member of the Canton Fire Department Ambulance Advanced Life Support Unit in 1977. Mrs. Burkman was a member of the local chapter of the American Red Cross, the Canton Garden Club and the Silas Wright House.

Marcie A. Franklin, 23, 11 Pyrites Russell Road, Russell, died on April 19, 2005 at United Helpers Gateway Apartments in Ogdensburg. The funeral will be Friday, April 22, 2005 at 11:00 AM, at the Lawrence Funeral Home with Branch President, Michael R. Bridgen, Officiating.
Calling hours are Thursday, April 21, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the South Russell Cemetery in Russell. Born on August 10, 1981, in Potsdam she was a daughter of Warren and Vicky Willard Franklin, she graduated from Edwards Knox Central School in 1999. Ms. Franklin attended Canton College of Technology and worked as a Home Health Aid for Health Services of Northern New York in Potsdam and also St. Lawrence University Food Service for four years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she taught Sunday School and while attending SUNY Canton she was a member of the SUNY Canton Outing Club

William "Bill" Butterfield, 85, 485 Eddy Pyrites Road, Canton and a resident of United Helpers Canton Nursing Home, died on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Canton Potsdam Hospital. The funeral will be Monday, April 11, 2005 at 10:00 AM, at the Lawrence Funeral Home.
Friends may call on Sunday, April 10, 2005 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Norwood, NY. Contributions can be made in his memory to Canton Fire Department, 77 Riverside Drive, Canton or United Helpers Canton Nursing Home, Activities Fund 40 West Main Street, Canton. Surviving are his wife Myrtle Wilson Dafoe Butterfield; a daughter, Nola Henry and husband Gerald of Oneonta, NY; four sons, Donald W. Butterfield and wife Shirley of Potsdam, Duane Butterfield and companion Penny Davis of Stillwater, NY, Gary Butterfield of Hannawa Falls and Darrell Butterfield and wife Cheryl of Silver Spring, MD; four step-children, Myron Dafoe, Jr. and wife Linda of Canton, Amy Bigelow and companion John Oney of DeKalb Jct., Scott Dafoe and wife Linda of Norwood; Chad Dafoe and wife Rachelle of Wilmar, MN; 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Butterfield was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie Hatch who died August 16, 1983 (they were married on Sept. 2, 1939); a sister, Hazel Butterfield and four brothers, Lawrence, Harold, Howard and Arthur Butterfield. Born in Pierrepont on July 14, 1919, he was a son of the late Frederick and Alice Cram Butterfield. He attended Pierrepont Schools. After his schooling, Mr. Butterfield worked at an area farm and then on the St. Lawrence Seaway, where he was a diamond drill operator. Later he worked for the Town of Stockholm for 23 years as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1981. Upon his retirement, he was a driver for Social Services and Office for the Aging for 14 years. Mr. Butterfield was a member of the Canton Fire Dept Auxiliary and Teamsters Local #687. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing and traveling. His favorite place to travel was Branson, Missouri. Most recently he enjoyed playing BINGO at the nursing home.

Sylvia M. Marschat, 74, Morrill Road in Pierrepont and formerly of Waterman Hill, died on March 29, 2005 at Massena Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be held as a spring burial, at the at St. Mary's cemetery.

Surviving is a sister Mrs. Dennis (Mary) Mintz of Sheffield, Mass.; also a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and John J. Corner, Jr.. Born April 27, 1930, in Great Barrington, Mass., she was a daughter of the late John James and Wanita Jane Sondrni Corner. Mrs. Marschat attended Cannon, CT High School, where she was a member of the Glee Club. Prior to her marriage to Raymond Marschat in April 24, 1952, she worked at John’s Restaurant in Cannon, CT. In 1952 she moved to the Pierrepont area (Waterman Hill) in 1952 and ran a dairy farm with her husband until 1972, when the couple moved to the Morrill Road and ran a dairy farm until their retirement in 1983.

Earl Nichols Planty, 93, Route 1, Box 149, Potsdam, died Monday March 28, 2005 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. The funeral will be Thursday March 31, 2005 at 7:15pm, at the Lawrence Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in the spring. Mr. Planty died Monday March 28, 2005 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. Calling hours will be Thursday afternoon and evening from 4-7 at the Lawrence Funeral Home. If friends desire contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Surviving are his wife Bea, one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Ellis and her husband Jerry, Kendall, NY; three granddaughters, Brandy and her husband Brent Leasure, Lori, Dawn, two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Jordyn. Predeceasing Mr. Planty are two brothers Elwood and Mason and one sister Hilda Marquardt. Born in Massena on November 5, 1911, he was a son of Herbert and Viola Snow Planty and attended Massena schools, before attending Canton Schools. On August 31, 1937, he married Beatrice Dean in Malone. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm on the Canton-Morley Road from 1943 until 1976 when Mr. Planty retired. They then moved to the Canton-Potsdam Road for two years, before moving to Route 1, Potsdam.

Estella Veronica Harmon, 97, 37 Riverside Drive, Canton, died Friday March 25, 2005 at United Helpers Canton Nursing Home. The funeral will be Tuesday March 29, 2005 at 11:00, at the St.Mary's Church in Canton.
Burial will be in the spring at Fairview Cemetery in Rodman. Mrs. Harmon died Friday morning March 25 at United Helpers Canton Nursing home, where she had been a patient for the last two years. Calling hours will be Monday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Lawrence Funeral Home. The family wishes donations to be in prayers or to St. Mary’s Church, 66 Court Street, Canton, 13617. Surviving Mrs. Harmon are two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia Ann Jones, Canton, Joan Marie Parsnick and her husband Thomas, Union Springs, six (6) grandchildren, ten (10) great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceasing are five sisters Molly Boyce, Bertha Boyce, Alice Raymo, Celestine Beaudin and Hazel Mosher. Also predeceasing are three brothers; Alfred, Daniel and Bernard Deleel. Born in Massena on September 21, 1907, she was the daughter of Charles and Celia LaFrance Deleel, also spelled Delisle. On January 22, 1944, she married Aubrey E. Harmon, in Potsdam. Mr. Harmon died December 22, 1984. Mrs. Harmon graduated from Nursing School with a degree in Licensed Practical Nursing. From 1944 until 1955 the couple lived in Potsdam, where Mrs. Harmon, worked as a housekeeper at St. Mary’s Church, a Licensed Practical Nurse, owner and operator of Harmon’s Restaurant, at Alcoa in Massena for a couple of years, before working as a clerk in Pearl’s Department Store and finally at the Clarkson Cafeteria. After moving to Antwerp in 1955, the couple then moved to Watertown in the mid 1970’s, where she worked as a sitter in Mercy Hospital for several years. In the mid 1990’s she moved to 37 Riverside Drive in Canton to be near her daughter, Patricia Ann Jones. An active communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Canton she was a sacristan for weekday masses at the Grasse River Apartments.

Sawyer James LaFaver, 2 d, 269 Jones Road, Lisbon, died March 21, 2005 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. The funeral will be Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 2:00, at the Lawrence Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Morley Cemetery. If Friends so desire contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Surviving beside his mother Melinda, are his maternal grandparents, Thomas LaFaver, Canton and Katherine LaFaver, Lisbon, an uncle Korey, Lisbon and Canton, maternal great grandparents, Morris and Arlene LaFaver of Lisbon and Lee and Elizabeth Williams, Canton, and a very special couple Eric and Debbie Richards, Weedsport, NY. He was born on March 19, 2005 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.

Max C. Tupper, 79, 5859 County Route 24, Canton, lifelong resident of Pierrepont, died Thursday March 3, 2005 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam. The funeral will be Tuesday March 8, 2005 at 1:30, at the Lawrence Funeral Home .
Burial will be in Pierrepont Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where the Pierrepont Fire Department will meet at 6:45. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen George and her husband Gregory “Greg”, Pierrepont and Vickie Barkley and her husband Larry, Raymondville, 7 grandchildren; Mark George of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, Tracy George of Canton, David Barkley of New York City , Mrs. Mike Sherry Kelly of Florida ,Marie Delosh of Norwood, Andrew Barkley of Malone and Matthew Barkley of Raymondville and 2 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Predeceasing Mr. Tupper was a brother Lawrence. Born on October 29, 1925 in Pierrepont, New York the son of Roy Charles and Iva Rosina Cooke Tupper, he attended Pierrepont rural school and graduated from Canton High School. On August 23, 1948 he married Joyce Mary Thomas at the Union Free Church in Pierrepont. Mrs. Tupper died February 17, 1997. Mr. Tupper worked on the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway, later was a bus driver for Canton Central School, owned and operated a dairy farm in Pierrepont from 1948 thru 1984 when he sold the farm to his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Greg George. Mr. Tupper was a charter member of the Pierrepont Vol. Fire Dept. and served for 35 years from 1952 to 1987, Grand Mason, St. Lawrence Lodge # 111 F and AM for 50 years, a past member of the Gulf Brook Club. Mr. Tupper was also an avid bowler at Gray Lanes for many years, loved to hunt and was a trout fisherman.

Master Dylan J. Marcellus, 1, 5 Harrison Street, Norwood, died February 17, 2005 at home in Norwood. The funeral will be Tuesday February 22, 2005 at 11:00, at the Lawrence Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Marcellus Family Cemetery in Rossie. Calling hours will be Monday afternoon and evening from 5-8 at the Lawrence Funeral Home. The family had moved to Norwood in November 2004 from their home in Hermon. Surviving are his parents Justin Marcellus and Deborah Burt, paternal grandparents, Adel Jordon, Ogdensburg and Terry Marcellus, Rossie, maternal grandmother, Maxine Peets, Ogdensburg, paternal great- grandmother, Bertha Marcellus, Rossie, maternal great-grandfather, Victor Skoders, Rensselaer Falls, and several aunts and uncles. Born in Ogdensburg on January 23, 2004, he was the son of Justin Terry and Deborah Lee Hardy Burt Marcellus.

Doyle E. Remington, 86, 49 Brown Road, Colton, died on Monday February 7, 2005 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam. The funeral will be Saturday February 12, 2005 at 11:00am, at the Lawrence Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Pierrepont Hill Cemetery. Mr. Doyle Remington died Monday evening at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Surviving Mr. Remington are his wife Mildred A., four daughters, Sonja Hennigan and her companion Bill Morgan, Florida City, Fl., Sandra Davis and her husband Charles “Chuck”, Colton, Sally Spicer, and her husband Rex A., Colton, Sherry Selleck, Gaithersburg, Md., three sons; James “Jim” and his wife Ellen, Carthage, Barry and his companion, Judith ‘Judy’ Straton, Rochester and Brian and his wife Lori, Colton, eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister Elizabeth Hawley and her husband Jean, Colton, one brother, John and his wife Resa, Parishville, and nieces and nephews. Predeceasing Mr. Remington are two brothers, Warren and Carl and one sister, Belva Hawley. Born in Parishville on March 13, 1918, he was the son of George and Lucy Trumble Remington and graduated from Pickettville grade school and attended Parishville High School. On July 16, 1939 he married Mildred Avis Brown in the Parishville United Methodist Church Parsonage, with Rev. Van Valcanburg, officiating. At the age of 18, Mr. Remington went to work at the Maurice Hawley Lumber Company in Colton, where he worked for 20 years. Then for a couple of years he worked at the town of Pierrepont Highway Department, before going to work in the Colton-Pierrepont Central School in the early 1950’s. Mr. Remington retired in the early 1980’s as Maintenance Supervisor of Building/Grounds and Transportation. Mr. Remington was a 50 year member of the High Falls Lodge #428, Free and Accepted Masons, a member of the Potsdam Chapter #24 of the St. Lawrence Commanderie, the National Rifle Association, and a former member of various bowling leagues at the Gray Lanes in Canton and the Chap Hill Hunting Club in Colton.

Louise R. Fuller, 97, 42 Stone Meadow Drive, Bridgewater, Massachusettes and formerly of Canton and Pierrepont, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Braemoor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton, Mass. The funeral will be Friday, February 4, 2005 at 12:00 PM, at the Lawrence Funeral Home with Lay-Pastor Donna R. Clark of the Pierrepont Free Association Church.
Burial will be in the spring in Fairview Cemetery in Canton. Calling hours will be Friday from 10:00am-12:00 at the Lawrence Funeral Home. Surviving Mrs. Fuller is her daughter Elizabeth “Liz” Fuller and her husband, Robert Jiovanoni, Bridgwater, Mass. Mrs. Fuller was predeceased by a daughter who died shortly after birth in 1942 one brother Lee Rexford and one sister, Dorcas Chilton Born in Pierrepont, New York on October 18, 1907, she was the daughter of Fred and Marietta Hubbard Rexford. On August 22, 1935, she married William W. Fuller in the Methodist Church Parsonage in North Bangor, NY. Mr. Fuller died November 28, 2003. From the mid 1920’s through the mid 1930’s , she worked as a bookkeeper at the St. Lawrence County National Bank in Canton, the predecessor of Community Bank. The couple moved from Canton to Burlington, Vt. after the Great Depression, then moved to New Jersey, where Mr. Fuller worked in the steel business. In 1990, the couple moved to Massachusetts to be near their daughter. Mrs. Fuller was a Girl Scout Leader in the late 1950’s.

Sybill M. Gilbo, 70, 349 County Route 34, Canton, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. The funeral will be Tuesday January 4, 2005 at 7:15pm, at the Lawrence Funeral Home.
Burial arrangements are incomplete. Calling hours will be Tuesday afternoon and evening from 4-7 at the Lawrence Funeral Home. If friends so desire, contributions may be made to Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center, 5 Lyon Place, Ogdensburg, NY 13669. Surviving are her husband: Warren C. Gilbo of Canton; four daughters, Viola McGregor and husband Lynn of Potsdam, Yvonne Boron and husband Bill of Albequerque, NM; Linda Gilbo and her fiancee Michael Smith of Palm Desert, CA and Christine Harbart and husband Bruce of Colton; three sons, Warren A. Gilbo of Rochester, Ken C. Gilbo of Canton and Bryan D. Gilbo of Greece(the country); one sister, Lillian Shadwell;10 grandchildren and one niece and one nephew. Predeceasing Mrs. Gilbo is one brother Fritz Zack. Born September 20, 1934 in Cologne, Germany, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Zack Blatzheim. Mrs. Gilbo married Warren C. Gilbo on March 24, 1955 in Bad Hersfeld, Germany. The couple moved from Germany to Mr. Gilbo’s native Northern New York on April 1, 1957. Prior to her lengthy illness, she worked at Pahler’s Packing Plant in Potsdam and was a waitress, employed by Town House Restaurant in Potsdam and the Chatter Box Diner on Pine Street in Potsdam. Catherine Jeanette Sharlow, 68, 68 Miner Street, Canton, died on December 20, 2004 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. The funeral will be in the Spring, at the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Services and interment will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family. Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard E. Winters Cancer Treatment Center, 5 Lyon Place, Ogdensburg, NY 13669. She is survived by a son, Andrew Gilchrist of Florida; two daughters Catherine Gilchrist and husband Randy of Florida and Mary Ann Ganter of Watertown; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sharlow was preceded in death by a sister, Madeline Collo and a brother, Richard Boshane. Born July 25, 1936, in Gouverneur, she was a daughter of the late William Henry Boshane and Elizabeth Edith Russell Boshane. Mrs. Sharlow attended Canton High School and laterworked as a domestic from 1965-1983 in the Syracuse area and later for United Helpers Nursing Home in Canton. Mrs. Sharlow was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary in Canton. On April 1, 1954, in Brownville, NY, she married Andrew Gilchrist. The marriage ended in divorce. On November 1, 1975, at the Delaware Baptist Church in Syracuse, NY, she married Richard Sharlow, who died in May 1983. Donald J. Babich, 48, 8D Ike Noble Drive, Canton, died on December 15, 2004 at his home in Canton. The funeral will be , at the at the convenience of the family.
Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date w/ Lawrence Funeral Home handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 66 Court Street, Canton, NY 13617. Surviving are his father, Alfred Babich of Canton; a brother, Arthur Babich of Colorado; a sister-in-law, Arlene Babich of Potsdam; and two aunts, Marion Babich of Queens, NY and Delores Sudano of Long Island. He was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Babich in 1992 and a sister, Barbara Babich in 1972. Born February 22, 1956, in Queens, New York, he was a son of Alfred Babich of Canton and the late Johanna Privileggio Babich, who died in 2002. Upon graduating high school in Long Island, Mr. Babich went to Potsdam State, where he received his Bachelors Degree and later went to St. Lawrence University where he graduated w/ a Masters in Psychology. Mr. Babich was most recently working for Massena Central School as a School Psychologist. He worked prior to that w/ St. Regis Falls Schools. Mr. Babich had several interests and hobbies, including, a passion for music and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed traveling, fine wines and preparing gourmet foods. Former co-workers describe Mr. Babich as a caring and sensitive man, which was evident in his work at school and his most recent care for his parents.
