Devoted husband and father
Of Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira passed away at home Sunday January 14, 2001 at the age of 57.
Ron is survived by his loving wife and friend Judy Knapp, his daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Gilbert Hill and Jennifer and Ray Hinkle, his grandchildren, Paige, Rebecca and Gilbert Hill Jr., and Megan Hinkle; He was predeceased by his son Ronald Knapp Jr. in 1975. Ron touched the hearts of those he knew. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and NASCAR.
Ron's family will receive friends at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Wednesday January 17, 2001 from 6 - 8 PM. Dininny, Farrel "Luke"
Owner and Operator of Dininny's Garage in Southport
Passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon January 13, 2001 at his home in Southport following an illness at the age of 85.
Luke was born on October 21, 1915 in Colorado son of the late Benjamin and Fairy Sutton Dininny. He married Florence Buchanan in 1939 and she predeceased him 1963. Later he married Roxanna Hutchings who predeceased him in 1986. Luke was the owner and operator of Dininny’s Garage on Cedar St. in Southport where he built his business on service. He was very proud of his business and dedicated his life to serving the community of Southport and the surrounding area. He was also employed for 35 years at the Remington Rand. During the Agnes Flood of 1972 he spent endless hours helping those in need. Luke was a lifelong member of the Elmira Wesleyan Church. He served during WW II in the United States Army, returning home as a Decorated Veteran. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, woodworking, gardening and time spent with his cherished family and friends.
Surviving is his loving family, sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sharon Redder of Elmira; Richard and Sylvia Dininny of Pine City; Lewis and Nancy Dininny of Brandon, FL; and Thomas and Deborah Dininny of Elmira; a sister-in-law, Agnes Dildine of Elmira Heights; eleven grandchildren along with many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends including Shirley Tice of Southport and Luke’s loving care giver Sharon Green. He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers, Ruth, Florence, Willard and Ariel.
Luke’s family will receive friends at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 from 2–4 and 6–8 PM. Funeral services will take place in the Elmira Wesleyan Church 1100 S. Main St. Elmira on Wednesday (10 AM) with Luke’s pastor, the Reverend Edward Crandall officiating. Committal services will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira where full military honors will be accorded Mr. Dininny. Memorial donations may be directed to the Elmira Wesleyan Church or the Arnot Ogden Medical Center Kidney Dialyses Unit in Luke’s memory.

Matusko, Timothy M.
Lifelong Resident of Pine City
Passed away Saturday January 6, 2001, very unexpectedly, as the result of a house fire.
Tim was born on July 26, 1965 son of Jeannette Norris Matusko and the late Martin Matusko.
He graduated from Southside High School in 1983 and attended Corning Community College. Tim was formerly employed at Thomas and Betts Corp. as a machinist and also the Pine City Inn. Throughout his life he was very active in the Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Tim enjoyed hunting, fishing and spent many hours painting Diorama Models.
Surviving are his loving children, Jason, Amber and Andrew Matusko of Big Flats; his mother and friend, Jeannette Norris Matusko of Pine City; brother's, Anthony Matusko and his fiancée, Lynette Sterling of Atlanta, GA; and Patrick Matusko of Glendale, NYC; several aunts and uncles, including Laverne and Charlotte Rose; Eugene and Shirley Woychak; and Lester Montayne; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends whom Tim cherished spending time with. He was predeceased by his father Martin Matusko in 1995, his maternal grandfather and grandmother, Seth and Mable Norris, and his paternal grandfather and grandmother, John and Mary Matusko.
The family will receive friends at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Wednesday January 10, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St., Elmira on Thursday (9:00 AM) the Reverend Richard Farrell celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery where Timothy will be buried next to his father, Martin Matusko. The family will provide flowers, Memorial donations may be directed to the Webb Mills or Pine City Volunteer Fire Departments in Tim's memory.

Martin, Annabelle Johnson
Retiree of Arnot Ogden Medical Center
Resident of Horseheads, NY and formerly of the Southside of Elmira passed away Friday December 29, 2000 following an illness at the age of 83.
Anne was born on January 29, 1917 in Collinswood, Canada daughter of William and Susan Turner Johnson. She married Fay Eugene Martin in 1947 and he predeceased her in 1965. Anne retired at the age of 70 from Arnot Ogden Medical Center where she worked as a housemother in the student-nursing dormitory for many years. She will be remembered for her flower gardens, her terrific sense of humor, and her wit. Anne will be greatly missed by those whose hearts she touched.
Surviving is her loving family, daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Billy Howell, of Omaha, NE; Deborah Martin of Elmira, NY; Carla and Thomas Wheeler of Denver, CO; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Roberta Martin of Denver, CO; and Gregg and Connie Martin of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Robin (Darrel) Schultz, Jamie (Terese) Hammond, and Lynn Hammond all of Omaha, NE; Ryan (Katie) Byrd of Syracuse, NY Caitlin Byrd of Elmira, NY; Thomas D. Loving mother and daughter
Passed away Saturday December 16, 2000 unexpectedly while visiting Lewiston, ME at the age of 38.
Neva was born on June 17, 1962 in Elmira daughter of Philip and Letha Rozell Earl. She graduated from Southside High School in 1980. She married Robert Jessmore on November 20, 1982. Neva enjoyed Bingo, Roller Skating, Theme Parks, and time spent with her girls.
Surviving are her loving daughters, Desiree, Tierra, and Kayla Jessmore, her husband, Robert Jessmore of Southport; mother and stepfather, Letha and Claude Blim of Southport, a sister, Laura Morrison of Elmira; brother's Phillip (Rhonda Galpin) Earl, Wayne Earl, and Toby (Sandra Good) Earl; mother and father-in-law, James and Ruth Jessmore all of Elmira; a dear friend, John Adams, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Neva was predeceased by her father, Philip Earl.

Gee, A. Frederick Sr.
Life long resident and Community Servant of Fassett, PA
Was reunited with his beloved wife Anna on Friday morning December 15, 2000 following an illness at the age of 82.
Fred was born on October 14, 1918 in Osceola, PA son of the late Amasa and Mary Tobey Gee. He married Anna Hugg on June 5, 1942. Together they spent their lives in Fassett, PA where Fred was very active throughout the community. He was a past Trustee of the Fassett Baptist Church where he attended, one of the original founders of the South Creek Rod & Gun Club, founder of Northern Tier Little League Baseball, served on the Board of Directors for the local schools prior to there formally becoming the Troy School System, member of the Twin Tiers Antique Car Club, former Secretary of South Creek Township, Former Fire Chief for the South Creek Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Fire Police and past Assistant Deputy Sheriff for Bradford County. Fred was employed at the Remington Rand for 33 years, Albee Truck for 10 years and Elmira Auto Paint for 10 years. A sportsmen, Fred enjoyed hunting, bowling, and baseball. He loved to spend time with his family and longed to be with his beloved Anna following her passing three short months ago.
Surviving is Fred's loving son and daughter-in-law, Andrew F. Jr. "Doc" and Susan Gee of Wellsburg, NY; a daughter, Darlene Gee-Woodfin of Pine City, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Jerry Geiger of Binghamton, NY; grandchildren, Andrea, Karyn, and Jennifer Gee; a great granddaughter, Morgan Leonberger; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Irene Gee of Orlando, FL; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In addition to Fred's parents and wife he was predeceased by his seven siblings.

Murdough, Patricia A.
Passed away Tuesday morning, March 6, 2001 at her home on Laurel St. in Southport, NY following a courageous battle with lung cancer at the age of 58.
Pat was born on July 18, 1942 in Elmira, NY daughter of Raymond and Mable L. Carpenter Eames. She was employed for many years at Ward Diesel Filter in Elmira Heights where she was an office manager. Pat enjoyed time spent with her family, and quiet times at home with her husband of 15 years, Bernie Murdough.
Surviving is her husband and friend, Bernie Murdough; and their children, Scott Kayser of New York City, NY; John Patrick Kayser of Westchester, NY; Sherry and Timothy Todd of Elmira, NY; Lisa and Jeffery Carlson of Horseheads, NY; Mark and Amy Murdough of Elmira, NY; Todd and Patricia Murdough of Pine City, NY; and Kathleen and Charles Lockhart of Elmira, NY; a sister-in-law, Jean Bouille of Elmira, NY; brother's-in-law, William and Alma Murdough of Southport, NY; and Gary and Cynthia Murdough of Martinez, CA; eleven grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and her cherished "Pepper" and "Little Bird".

Doane, Margaret A.
Passed away Saturday morning February 17, 2001 at St. Joseph's Hospital following a brief illness at the age of 75.
Born in Wysox, PA Margaret was the daughter of Max and Daisy Stevens Chilson. Through out her life she had many interests, having been employed at the Blue Swan in Towanda, PA; Remington Rand in Elmira, NY; a poultry farm in Nichols, NY; and also owned and operated Peggy's Restaurant in Elmira. Margaret enjoyed the precious time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and playing Bingo with her many friends.
Surviving are her loving children, MaryAnn (Dino) Soultanis, Charles Wallace (Kathy) Doane, Sherry Lee (Henry James) Price, Allen William (Patricia) Sick, and Kathleen Ann (Dean Lyn) Springstead; brother's, Clifford (Kay) Chilson, Albert (Elsie) Chilson, Max Chilson, Franklin Chilson, Tommy (Rose) Chilson, Welmer (Peggy) Chilson; a sister, Susie (Ernest) Woodruff; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Doane in 1963 after 22 years of marriage and by her longtime friend and companion, William A. Sick in 1990; her infant daughter, L. Marie; brother, Paul Chilson; and a half sister, Eloise Malowski.

Funeral services will be held there on Thursday (10AM) with the Reverend John Bedzyk officiating. Interment will follow in French Asylum Cemetery, Durell, PA.

Houghtaling, Leonard, V.
Of Pennsylvania Ave. Southport, NY passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at St. Joseph's Hospital following an illness at the age of 76.
Leonard was born on June 5, 1924 in Thurston, NY son of the late Merrit and Rose Morris Houghtaling. He served in the United States Marines during WWII. Leonard was employed by American LaFrance for many years. He enjoyed being active and was known for his carpentry work, having worked in many of the homes here in Southport. Leonard also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and time spent with his grandchildren and family.
Surviving is his loving wife and friend of 54 years, June Misner Houghtaling; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Pat Houghtaling of Virginia Beach, VA; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tim Robinson of Spring Water, NY; grandchildren, Lisa, Ashley, Lindsay, Jenna, Michael, Jim and Steve; great grandchildren, Justen and Noah.
Friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Thursday February 15, 2001 from 6 - 8 PM and on Friday from 10 - 11 AM. Funeral services will take place on Friday (11AM)
with the Reverend Larry Lain officiating. Committal services will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will provide flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 627 W. Church St. Elmira, NY 14905 in Leonard's memory.

Scrocarelli, Amelia M.
Long time resident of Southport
Passed away Tuesday February 6, 2001at St. Joseph's Hospital following a brief illness at the age of 89.
Amelia was born on May 17, 1911 in Cortland, NY daughter of Luigi and Antoinette Serafino Bellardini. She was the loving wife of 60 years to Peter Scrocarelli who predeceased her in 1993. Amelia enjoyed being a housewife, cooking, caring for her family and preparing for the holidays.
Surviving is her loving son and daughter-in-law, Francis and Joan Scrocarelli of Southport; sisters and brother-in-law, Katherine (Louie) Scala and Delores Pacentine; sisters-in-law, Matilda Ponzi and Ida Cornacchio; several nieces and nephews, including two dear nieces and friends, Denise Szymanski and Sheila Lowe.
Amelia was predeceased by her parents, Luigi and Antoinette Serafino Bellardini, her sisters, Marie Pauldine, Alice Levant; brothers, Albert and Harry Bellardini; and a brother-in-law, Othello Scrocarelli.
Amelia's life was honored on Friday February 9, 2001 in a private service held at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, at 10 AM. The Reverend Joseph Brodnick, Pastoral Director of St. Joseph's Hospital officiated the funeral. Committal services followed in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Elmira where Amelia was laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Peter Scrocarelli.

King, Shawna & Dakota
Loving mother and son
Were reunited in Heaven on Saturday January 27, 2001 following injuries they sustained in a house fire in Elmira, NY.
Shawna, age 21 was the loving daughter of Tim and Sandi Farris King born on August 8, 1979 in Fort Riley, KS. She was employed at Sam's Club in Big Flats, NY where she made many friends. Shawna always smiled and shared a kind word. She enjoyed cooking and music.
The light of her life was her son Dakota, age 2. He was born on September 13, 1998 in Hutchinson, KS son of Salvador Valencia III. At an early age Dakota loved sports and M&M Candies. He inherited his mother's warm smile and cherished their time together.
Surviving are Shawna's parents, Dakota's grandparents, Tim King of Wellsburg, NY; Sandi Farris King of Marion, VA; Salvador and Rebecca Valencia Jr. of Hutchinson, KS; Shawna's grandparents, Dakota's great grandparents, John and Barbara King of Pine City, NY; Bill and Ruby Farris of Dover, DE; Shawna's brothers, Jonathan King of Hutchinson, KS; and Chad King of Marion, VA; many aunts, uncles, and cousins including Shawna's Aunt and dear friend, Laurie and Vince Putney of Pine Valley, NY;
Dakota's father, Salvador Valencia III and his half sister, Jaiden Valencia of Hutchinson, KS; along with many dear friends.

Were honored by their many friends and family members on Thursday February 1, 2001at Horseheads First Baptist Church. The Reverend Eldon Fowler and Reverend Bruce Snyder both officiated the funeral with memories of Shawna age 21 and Dakota age 2 as being two young individuals who shared love and warmth with all of those whose hearts they touched. Wendy Weaver, David Scott Seymour and Joyce Coughan provided music throughout the service. Al Brough, Gracie Mast, and Tom Horne shared readings and memories. The pallbearers were Chris Hills, Darren Connell, Jim Leonard, Brian Arnold, Don and Bill Edwards. Committal services followed in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira were Dakota was laid to rest in the arms of his mother, Shawna. Dakota leaves to his day care provider, Jessi's Home Day Care in Big Flats, the gifts people so generously brought him during visitation so other children may find the joy he did during his brief visit on this earth.

Dellow Roy H.
Of Cayuta, NY and formerly of the Syracuse, NY area passed away at his home under the care of his family and Southern Tier Hospice at the age of 54 following a lengthy illness with cancer.
Roy was born on May 8, 1947 in Cortland, NY son of Leslie and Florence Courtney Dellow. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as an Aviation Mechanic. After returning home he married Pam Tice on June 12, 1971 in Homer, NY. Together they have been involved in "Muzzle-Loaders" and have honored away of life prior to the 1840's for many years. Roy was a member of the "Land of the Seneca's". He was employed by Cornell University. Roy enjoyed caring for his home and being close to his family, especially during his illness.
Surviving is his wife and best friend, Pam Tice Dellow; his son's, Robert Dellow; Thomas Dellow and his fiancée Rebecca Bassett all of Cayuta, NY. Roy's loving mother, Florence Dellow of Cortland, NY; sister's and brother's, Ruth (Gerald) Breeds of Moravia, NY; Charles (Gloria) Dellow of Cortland, NY; Janice (John) Kowatch of Auburn, NY; and Caryl (Roy) Smith of Pompey, NY; along with many nieces, nephews, cherished neighbors and friends. Roy was predeceased by his father, Leslie Dellow.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Tuesday, August 14, 2001 from 7-9 PM. Funeral services will take place there on Wednesday (10AM) in the Gardens with the Reverend Eleanor Haber officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Chemung County Veterans Military Honor Guard. Following funeral services Roy will be cremated at the Northern Bradford Crematory and his ashes will be buried in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, NY.

Lepkowski, Peter Thomas
Formerly of Breesport, NY and presently of Corning, NY passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning August 9, 2001 as the result of a construction accident at the age of 24.
Born on January 14, 1977 in Elmira, NY; Peter was the son of William and Diane King Lepkowski. He attended Horseheads High School, graduating in 1995; while in school he was an standout athlete, excelling in football and baseball. His love of hockey began at age 5 and continued throughout his life. Peter was a communicant of St. Peter & Paul's Church in Elmira. He was employed by Beavers Petroleum and Equipment Co. for the last 5 years. He enjoyed attending sporting events and spending time with his family and many friends.
Surviving are his loving parents, Diane and William Lepkowski of Breesport, NY; his sister, Sara Lepkowski; brother, Michael Lepkowski; and a niece, Alissa VanOstrand all of Breesport, NY; aunts and uncles, James and Veronica Lepkowski of Pine Valley, NY; Roger and Diane King of Horseheads, NY; and Jean and Donald Quinn of Horseheads, NY; Peter's companion and loving friend, Candice Hall of Corning, NY; several cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Leland and Pauline King; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Cecilia Lepkoske; and his great great aunt Helen Masterson.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Sunday, August 12, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will take place there Monday (10AM) in the Gardens with the Reverend Pat Connor officiating. Following funeral services Peter will be cremated at the Northern Bradford Crematory and his ashes will be buried in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Pete was loved by all whose hearts he touched.

Campbell, John J. "Jack"
Formerly of Elmira, NY passed away on July 13, 2001 in Daly City, CA where he had resided for many years at the age of 81.
Jack was born on June 18, 1920 in Elmira, son of Hugh E. and Catherine Reidy Campbell. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and attended school there. From an early age, Jack enjoyed adventure and challenges in his life. He worked in several fields of interest. At one time Jack was a truck driver, worked on fishing boats and trained horses to list a few of his many different jobs. But it was his love of flight that led him to be employed with Pan Am Airlines where he was instrumental in the development and design of aircraft for over 30 years. Jack was a fun loving person who enjoyed traveling the world and meeting people. In his travels, he enjoyed panning for gold, hot air ballooning, railroading, deep sea fishing, and writing down his adventures for others to enjoy.

Jack requested a private graveside funeral service, which was held at his families' convenience in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Elmira, NY.

Mahosky, Rein' Sabatina
Visited this world briefly on Monday July 23, 2001 before joining the Angels later that day at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
Surviving are her loving parents, Jennifer L. Cory and Rex S. Mahosky of Elmira, NY. Her maternal grandfather, Robert Cory of Elmira, NY; paternal grandparents, Janice Wood of Elmira, NY and Rex Mahosky of Anchorage, AK; maternal great grandfather, Carmelo Sagaria of Corning, NY; paternal great grandmother, Mary Wood of Elmira Heights, NY; uncle, Joseph Cory of Montour Falls, NY; aunts, Stephanie Mahosky and Carrie Rice of Elmira, NY. Rein' Sabatina was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Sabatina Cory in 1999.
Funeral services will take place at the families convenience with Deacon Bob Stowell officiating and she will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira, NY.

Thayer, Dennis R.
Of Southport, NY passed away at his home on Wednesday July 18, 2001 with his loving family at his side following a battle with cancer at the age of 58.
Dennis was born on May 12, 1943 son of Robert E. and M. Geraldine Whalen Thayer. He grew up in Elmira and graduated from Southside High School. Dennis served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he married Cola Lee Aikman on April 22, 1972. Dennis was employed for many years as a Cable Technician with the New York Telephone Co., retiring in 1995. He was a long time member of the Lake St. Presbyterian Church and a member of the church choir. Dennis enjoyed woodworking and was well known for his talents. Many hours were spent in his woodshop at home. He loved his home and the time he spent there with his cherished family.
Surviving is his wife and friend, Cola L. Thayer; his son's, Brian and Jason Thayer also of Southport; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Fred Beaver of Southport; several aunts and uncles including, Shirley (Harold) Long of Pine City, NY; and Edna Taylor of Horseheads, NY along with several nieces and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by his mother, M. Geraldine in 1997, and his father, Robert in 1992, and his brother, David in 1999.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Friday July 20, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8PM. Funeral services will take place in the Gardens at the conclusion of visitation (8 PM) with the Reverend John McLaren officiating. The Chemung County Veterans Military Honor Guard will accord Mr. Thayer full honors. Following funeral services, Dennis will be cremated at the Northern Bradford Crematory and his ashes will be buried in Maple Grove Cemetery at his families convenience. Memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Southern Tier Hospice in his memory, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

McLaughlin, Donald P.
Long time resident of the Pine City community passed away peacefully, July 2, 2001 in his home with his cherished family by his side at the age of 67, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Don was born on November 9, 1933 in Corning, NY son of Arthur and Margaret Smith McLaughlin. He served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Baltimore from 1951-1955. Don later married May R. Wilson on April 30, 1960 at the Sayre Christian Church in Sayre, PA. They were communicants of St. Mary's Church on Elmira's Southside where they renewed their marriage vows on April 30, 1983. Don was employed as a installer and repairman for New York Telephone until his retirement in 1986. He was a kind gentleman who enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, hunting, and winters spent in his Florida home. Don cherished the time spent with his family; even through his illness his concern was always for them.
Surviving is his wife and friend, May W. McLaughlin of Pine City, NY; daughter and grandson, Karen McLaughlin and Michael Thomas McLaughlin of Elmira, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Timothy Schwender of Spencer, NY; a daughter from a previous marriage, Maureen of CO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bud and Patricia McLaughlin and Edward and Janice McLaughlin; a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Bob Anderson all of Elmira, NY; a sister-in-law, Betty (Douglas) Wolfe of Gillett, PA; nieces, nephews, many dear friends along with his canine companion, "Beauford". Don was predeceased by a son from his previous marriage, Michael McLaughlin in 1959.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway on Thursday July 5, 2001 from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St. Elmira on Friday, July 6, 2001 (10AM) with the Reverend Joseph Brodnick officiating. Committal services will follow in the Gardens at Caywood's Funeral Home where full military honors will be accorded Mr. McLaughlin. Following those services Don will be cremated at the Northern Bradford Crematory and his ashes will be buried in St Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Memorial donations may be directed to the Falck Cancer Center, 600 Roe Ave. Elmira, NY 14905 or Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Rd. Corning, NY 14830 in Donald's memory.

McLaughlin, Donald P.
Was honored by his family and many friends on Friday July 6, 2001 in Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church. Don's Funeral Mass was officiated by the Reverend Joseph Brodnick and was assisted by Deacon Bob Stowell. Music was provided by the Resurrection Choir accompanied by Mary Montanarella. Don's family took part in the service; with his niece, Anita Davis caring the Paschal Candle, his grandson, Michael Thomas McLaughlin placing the family crucifix on the casket, The gifts were presented by a sister-in-law, Patricia McLaughlin; nieces, Bernadette Lovejoy, Kate Siglan, Kelly McLaughlin, and Alexis McLaughlin. His wife, May McLaughlin read a poem and his daughter, Donna Schwender shared memories of her father. Pallbearers were Michael, Bud, Ed and Pat McLaughlin, Tim Schwender, and Joseph Parks. Committal services followed in the Gardens at Caywood's Funeral Home, with the Chemung County Veterans Honor Guard conducting the military services and the presentation of the flag to Don's wife, May McLaughlin by Don's nephew, Terry McLaughlin. Pat Saxe played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. Don was taken to Northern Bradford Crematory and will be interred in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery at a later date.

Yorke, Edna Mae
Left this world to be with those she missed; on Thursday, June 21, 2001 at St. Joseph's Hospital following an illness at the age of 80.
Edna was born on September 5, 1920 in Rathbun, NY daughter to Benjamin H. and Cora Mae Hanshaw VanSile. She married Howard Yorke on November 21, 1941; together they raised a loving close family and made the Southside of Elmira home for many years. Edna loved being a homemaker and was known for her many collectibles. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, and caring for her family. A visit to her home would bring a soft word and warm smile.
Surviving is her husband and friend of 60 years, Howard Yorke; her children, Corlene (Ralph) Edwards of Conroe, TX; Sharon (Robert) Hornbeck of Wellsburg, NY; Clair (Joyce) York of Lindley, NY; Zelda (Ernie) Ducharme of Slatersville, RI; Yvonne (Joseph) Schipani of Landstuhl, Germany; Joyce Dianna Gordon of Heidelberg, Germany; nine grandchildren, Nina, Matthew, Vanessa, Julie, Kristine, Joel, Amileigh, Melissa, and Jennifer, eight great grandchildren, Hannah, Hailey, Jacob, Devon, Jacole', Kaela, Parker, and Rachel; a sister, Effie DeKay of Cameron, NY; nieces, nephews, many cherished friends; including, Hollis and Jeffery Donnor & family, John and Diane Russell & family, Dan and Michelle Ferraro & family.
Edna was predeceased by her beloved sons, Jay Arthur York in 1974; David Reginald York in 1983; and her precious granddaughter, Camielle Hornbeck Morrison in 1994.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport, NY on Monday June 25, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday (10 AM) at the First Church of Nazarene, 1136 Broadway, Southport with the Reverend Larry Lain and the Reverend Christine Eastwood officiating. Committal services will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY where she will be buried near her two sons, Jay and David. Edna loved flowers or you may direct memorials to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, for use in the Comfort Care Suites, 571 E. Market St. Elmira, NY 14901 in her memory.

Dunlap, Nettie M. "Betty"
A longtime resident of the Pine City community passed away unexpectedly, Sunday June 17, 2001 while visiting in Syracuse, NY.
Betty was born on June 16 1929 in Elmira, NY daughter of Wilbur and Mary Watkins Sickles. She was the wife of Harry Dunlap who passed away on March 14, 1988.
Betty was very active in the community throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church and for many years operated the food tent for the church at the Chemung County Fair. A member of the Pine City Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary where she held the office of treasurer for 22 years. The past president of the Central NY Firemen's Auxiliary. The past president of the Chemung County Firemen's Auxiliary. A member of the New York Firemen's Auxiliary. A member of the Kiwanis Club of Southport and the Home Bureau. She was known for her cooking ability, having been employed by several restaurants in the area during her life. She enjoyed being around people and time spent with her family and friends.
Surviving is her loving family, a son and daughter-in-law, Mel and Linda Dunlap of West Elmira, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Harry Goodwin of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, Richard (Kathleen) Dunlap, Christopher Dunlap, Patrick and Casie Goodwin; great grandchildren, Kurtis, Hanna and Ryan Dunlap; sister's, Claudia and James Tuttle of FL; Jean (Robert) Charron of Elmira, NY Beverly (Kenneth) Clark of Beaver Dams, NY; Grace (Chuck) Miller of PA; Nettie Brooks of Bath, NY; Bea Ann (Ronald) Orme of Bath, NY; a brother, Jack Sickles of Bath, NY; a sister-in-law, Arlene (Glenn) Paul of Gillett, PA; a brother-in-law, Clair (Rose Ann) Dunlap of Mooresville, NC; along with several nieces, nephews, and a community of cherished friends.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Wednesday June 20, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will take place on Thursday (11AM) in the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church, 1238 Pennsylvania Ave. Pine City, NY with the Reverend William Vallett and the Reverend Frederick Turner officiating. Committal services will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira where Betty will buried next to her husband and friend Harry Dunlap. Betty's family will provide flowers , memorial donations may be directed to the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club of Southport, or the Pine City Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
