Murtaugh, Mildred K.
A longtime resident of Hampton Circle in Elmira, Mildred passed away peacefully Tuesday morning July 4, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born on December 18, 1913 in Syracuse, NY, Mildred was the daughter of William & Clara Dietrich Benz. She was the loving wife of the late, Harry F. Murtaugh. A homemaker, Mildred enjoyed crafts, gardening and cooking. She was a long time communicant of St. Mary's Church. Surviving is her loving daughter and son-in-law, Kathy & Scott Parsons, Millerton, PA and her two grandchildren, Sara and Matthew Parsons.
In honoring her wishes Mildred will be cremated. A memorial Mass will take place in St. Mary's Franklin St. Church, Elmira on Monday July 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. Interment
of her ashes will take place in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Elmira. Memorial donations may be directed to Catholic Charities, 215 E. Church St. Elmira NY 14901 in her memory.
Pierce, Frederick A.
A long time resident of Pennsylvania Ave. Pine City passed away peacefully in his home with his loving family by his side on Friday evening, March 3, 2006 at the age of 81.
Surviving is Fred's wife and companion of 63 years, Ethel Wright Pierce; along with their two children, Fay "Sue" & Douglas Palmer, Alabama; and Robert "Mack"& Ingrid Pierce, Germany; two cherished grandchildren, Jordan and Lauren Palmer; sisters-in-law, Jane Alexander, Catherine Wright and Frances (Donald) Shaffer, brothers-in-law, Walter (Polly) Wright; Donald (Betty) Wright; and Albert Wright.
Fred was predeceased by his mother, Winona Fay Pierce, brothers-in-law, Laverne Alexander, Chauncey Wright and Richard (Georgiana) Wright.
Fred was a WWII Army Veteran and was very active in the VFW Post # 8675, Troy, PA as well as the American Legion Harry Bentley Post # 443, Elmira, NY. He was also active in the Genealogy Society of Troy, PA. He found enjoyment in traveling, gardening, and was passionate for his love of antiques, refinishing and woodworking.
Fred will be cremated at the Northern Bradford Crematory and a memorial service will be held at the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday July 1, 2006, with his pastor, the Reverend William Vallet officiating. Full military honors will be accorded Mr. Pierce at the church following the service; His ashes will be interred in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, PA later that afternoon. Memorials may be directed to the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church, 1238 Pennsylvania Ave. Pine City, NY 14871 or Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 E. Corning Rd. Gates, Marion A.
Formerly of Carpenter Apartments, Elmira passed away Saturday evening, June 24, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital following an illness at the age of 88.
Born on January 29, 1918 in Elmira, Marion was the daughter of Theron & Margaret Ross Gardner. She was married to George W. Gates in 1939 and he predeceased her in 1969. Marion was employed for many years at St. Joseph's Hospital in central service. Devoted to her home and family, she took enjoyment in crafts and sewing.
Surviving is her loving family, a daughter and son-in-law, Anna & Robert Yanowiak, Elmira; a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent & Twyla Gates, Seattle WA; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marion was predeceased by a sister and four brothers.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 between the hours of 6-8 p.m. A Wednesday morning prayer service will be held at Caywood's at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter & Paul's Church, 161 High St. Elmira at 10 a.m. Graveside services will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
Anderson, Ralph H.
A long time resident of Elmira passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Bath, NY on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 following an illness at the age of 74.
Born on June 9, 1932, Ralph was the son of the late Otto & Jennie Hillman Anderson, He served in the United States Army and was a life long carpenter employed with National Homes True Temper of Pine Valley. His many interests included vegetable gardening, carpentry, woodworking and always offering a helping hand to his friends and neighbors.
Surviving are his loving children who cherish his memory, Scherrie Anderson, Tonowanda, NY; Deseree (Brian) Clark, Elmira; and Ralph (Dorothy McMasters) Anderson, Elmira; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Danielle) Melchiorre, Bryan Jones, Alisa Jones and Andrea McMasters; sisters, Anna May (Lynnwood) Austin, Wellsburg; and Betty Jean (Jim) Cranmer, Chemung; along with several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to share in a graveside service at Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Captain John Cornelius officiating. Full military honors will be accorded Mr. Anderson at the graveside.
Evans, Dorothy Marie
A resident of Elmira and the beloved wife of the former J. Max Evans passed away peacefully Tuesday September 4, 2007 the day following her birthday at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center after an illness at the age of 70. Born on September 3, 1937 in Elmira, Dorothy was the daughter of John W. & Ruth VanHorn Watts. She was married to J. Max Evans until his passing in 1992. Her many interests included playing cards, making quilts, she hand made braided rugs and enjoyed many cherished memories with her family who survive; children, Steve & Mary Evans, Elmira; Irene & Mike Fitzpatrick, Horseheads; six grandchildren, Michael Ryan , Joshua, Casey Jon Fitzpatrick, Jennifer Claire, Caitlin Eileen and Stefanie Michelle Evans, sisters, Virginia & Kenneth “Scott” Bush, Elmira; Betty & Stanley Harris, TN; Helen Gradwohl, Southport; and Martha & Joseph Wilgosz, Elmira; a sister-in-law, Gail Watts, Southport; nieces, nephews and many family friends along with her canine companion, Angel Michelle. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, John & Ruth Watts; her husband, J. Max Evans and her brother, John “Jack” Watts.

Woughter, Irene M.
A long time resident of Pine City, passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday morning, September 2, 2007 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center at the age of 88.
Born in Elmira on April 26, 1919, daughter of Walter & Avis Heaxt Monks. She was married to Sydney R. Woughter in 1937 and he predeceased her in 1984. A homemaker, Irene was also employed by Holmes Trucking, and retired from the Chemung County Treasures Office as a Senior Account Clerk. In serving her Lord, she was a member of the Mosherville Bible Church. Irene was a supportive and loving mother who is survived by her children, Terry & Jackie Woughter, Gillett, PA; Bonnie & Elwin Vosburgh, SC; Janet & Robert Brown, GA; a sister, Hazel Stowe, Pennfield, NY; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a supportive church family and long time friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was predeceased by her son, Jerry Woughter.

A resident of the Elmira community passed away Sunday morning, August 26, 2007 at home with his loving family by his side at the age of 76. Lynn was born on February 26, 1931 in Olean, NY, son of Francis & Nettie Teets. He worked for Bonady Brother’s Food Market in Painted Post, NY as a store manager and later was employed by the Association for the Blind after loosing his eyesight in an automobile accident. His interests included dancing and playing country music. Proud to be an American, He was a member of the American Legion. Leggiero, Mary J.
A resident of the Elmira community passed away Wednesday morning, August 22, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital at the age of 92. Mary was born on December 4, 1914 in Elmira, NY, daughter of Anthony F. and Anna Scala Fusare. She married William E. Leggiero Sr. on January 12, 1944 at St. Anthony’s church in Elmira and he predeceased her on December 2, 1983. Mary worked for the Elmira City School District for 15 years in the food service department. In addition to the love and care she provided her family, her interests included playing cards and spending time socializing.
Surviving is her loving family, a daughter, Donna & Robert Van DeBogart; son, William E. Leggiero Jr., Lewistown, NY; three grandchildren, Scott & Theresa Nichols, Elmira; AnneLies VanDeBogart, Macedon, NY; Tracy Petsky, Penfield, NY; five great grandchildren, Laura and Larry Petsky, Christian Stuewe, Isabella and Annasofia Nichols; a sister, Frances & Rocco Picarazzi, Elmira; a sister-in-law, Diane Fusare. In addition to her parents, Anthony & Anna and her husband, William, Mary was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Fusare, a sister, Carmel McCabe, and great grandson, Joshua Logan Nichols.

A resident of Bentley Creek, PA passed away on August 15, 2007 at home following an illness at the age of 50.
Born on April 7, 1957 in Bangor, ME, she was the daughter of Theodore & Beatrice Hill Hoose. Before attending college in Harrisburg, Cheryl graduated from SRU High School in 1975. In serving her county, she enlisted the United States Army where she was a Lab Technician and later worked for several physicians. Surviving is her loving mother, Beatrice Hoose, Gillett, PA; her son, David & Corinne Barrios and their children, Dylan and Trystan Dahlonege, GA; two sisters, Robin & Steve Nero, Bentley Creek, PA and Tammy & Robert Steele, Mechanicsburg, PA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and close family friends also her companion “Kitter”. Cheryl was predeceased by her father, Theodore Hoose in 2005.
Family and friends are invited to take part in a memorial service for Cheryl on Sunday August 19, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. as a part of the Sunday worship service in the First Baptist Church of Bentley Creek, where she attended.
Mickley, Cleon E.
A longtime resident of the Fassett, PA community passed away Wednesday morning, August 8, 2007 at Troy Community Hospital following an illness at the age of 84. Cleon was born on July 15, 1923 in Thomasville, PA son of Titus & Margaret Gruver Mickley. He married Minnie Krise on June 20, 1942 in Covington, PA and she predeceased him on September 27, 2006. Cleon was employed by Upstate Tool Inc. Elmira Heights where he was a tool and die maker for many years. Known for his hard work ethic, Mr. Mickley provided well for his family and cherished times spent with them. He was a long time member of the Gillett Baptist Church where he was one of the founding members of the Mens Breakfast Group which still meets to this day. Active in his community, Cleon was a charter member of the South Creek Fire Department.
Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Ardith & Lyle Harkness, Columbia Cross Roads, PA; Darene & William Reiff, Fassett, PA; five grandchildren, Kristine Abrams, Shawn (Vicki) Harkness, Craig Harkness and Lyle Ryan (Sheri) Harkness Christine (James) Zdziebkowski; eight great grandchildren, Randall and Gavin Roloson, Harlan Abrams, Taren, Colton, Mariah and Ethan James Harkness and Elizabeth Zdziebkowski; a brother and sister-in-law, Clair & Helen Mickley, Fassett, PA; nieces, nephews and many family, church and community friends. 78, of 715 Sayre St. Horseheads, NY, passed away Sunday morning, August 5, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Nelson, PA on January 12, 1929, Gene was the son of Clifford & Dorothy Chilson Price.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Lorraine Baker Price and their children, Gene Rockwell Price, Pennellville, NY; Cynthia Price, Horseheads, NY; Loree & Dan McOwen Dryden, NY; and Holly & Paul Yanowiak, Rochester, NY and his grandchildren, Kayla Price, Matthew Outen, Caitlin Outen, Chelsea Yanowiak, Bailey McOwen and Edward McOwen. Also survived by, sister-in-law, Priscilla Price, Nelson, PA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and Don Irwin, Charlotte, NC and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Joann Killen, Huntington, IN; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by a brother, Keith Price and a sister, Constance “Connie” Kreisler.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and caring son-in-law.
Gene started his career as a glass blower at Corning Inc. and eventually left to start his own business, the Unicorn Glass Co. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed golf, bowling and hunting. He served his country in Korea in the United States Army. He was a long time member of the Horseheads First Presbyterian Church, Horseheads Elks and The American Legion.

Born on July 24, 1933 in Elmira, NY, Donald was the son of Hugh V. & Marian Lyon Remington. He enjoyed stamp collecting and the pleasures of a simple life. In serving his country, Don was an Air Force Veteran. Short, Alberta M. "Bert"
A longtime resident of Pine City passed away Saturday evening, July 28, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital after declining health at the age of 87. Born on July 1, 1920, Bert was the daughter of Albert & Margaret Knoop Schorr. She was a loving wife to William E. Short until his passing in 1989. Bert is remembered for her love of music. She touched many lives with her patience and skill in teaching piano and organ to many. She was an active member in the Christian Faith Fellowship Church where she played the piano and organ for church services. Bert also enjoyed crafts, family times and was an avid flower and vegetable gardener.

A longtime resident of Elmira and Zephyr Hills, FL passed away Tuesday June 12, 2007 while a patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital at the age of 99.
Born on August 26, 1907 in Chapman, PA, Mildred was the daughter of George & Dora Maurer Loder. She was a loving wife to her husband, Claude D. Crippen until his passing 1973. Mildred was employed for many years by NY Telephone as an operator and supervisor, she was a member of the “Telephone Pioneers”. Active in her community, she was a long time member of the Eastern Stars.
Surviving is her nephew, George (Jerlyn) Cole, Pine City; her niece, Maxine Spaulding, Montour Falls; great nieces and nephews. A longtime resident of the Southside, passed away Monday evening July 30, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital following an illness at the age of 99.
Born on October 8, 1907 Helen was the daughter of Joel E. & Harriet M. Carman Bennett. She was a loving and supportive wife to her husband Arthur Rinebold for over 70 years until his passing in 1994. Her many interests included BINGO reading, sewing and family times. Surviving are her loving daughters, Naomi Rinebold with whom she resided in Southport, NY; Betty Tillotson, Chemung, NY; oberta Shipmen, Waverly, NY; Jo Ellen (Roger Kleinfeld) Robinson, Horseheads, NY; seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many family friends. In addtion to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by her sons, James E. Rinebold when he was 5, Arthur B. Rinebold in 2000; a daughter, Phyllis Rutledge in 2005; a son-in-law, Bill Tillotson in 2005 and a sister, Charlotte Drake. Of 337 E. Market Street Extension in Corning, NY, Passed away after a courageous battle with leukemia. Sarah was born April 8, 1986 in Plattsburgh, NY. Sarah was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy and previously attended Corning Community College. She was a member of Christ’s United Methodist Church in Elmira, and was also a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America. Surviving Sarah are her mother and stepfather, Amy & Michael Kuczka of Corning, NY; father, David Hughes; sisters, Harriett Hughes and Carmen Coppola of Corning, NY; paternal grandparents, Raymond & Kathy Hughes of Athens, PA; maternal grandparents Albert Jr. & Deloris Wheeler of Wellsburg, NY; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Formerly of Elmira Heights, NY passed away on Monday afternoon, May 14, 2007, with his loving sisters by his side at his home in Englewood, FL where he had been residing at the age of 80. Neal was born in Elmira Heights on July 3, 1926, son of Harold & Velma Sautter Kehoe. Surviving is his loving family, son, James Kehoe, Ft. Myers, FL; daughter, Deborah (Dennis) Reed, Powhatan, VA; brother, John (Joan) Kehoe, Gulf Cove, FL; sisters Alyene Jenkins, Wellsburg; Marilyn Rathbun, NC; grandchildren Tracy and Megan Reed; brothers-in-law, Ron Yanney and Bruce Yanney both of the Towanda, PA area; several nieces, nephews and many family friends. In addition to his parents, Neal was predeceased by his first wife Betty Yanney Kehoe in 1985 and his second wife Emma Kehoe in 1994; brothers-in-laws Richard “Dick” Jenkins and George Rathbun. In serving his county Neal was a U.S. Marine during World War II. Neal attended mortuary school in Philadelphia, PA. He was well known in the Endicott and surrounding communities by the many families he faithfully served with the highest degree of compassion while he was a partner at the Allen Memorial Home where he was a funeral director for many years. Neal enjoyed the sport of fishing, traveling, spending his winters in Florida after his retirement and quality time with his family. He was active in his community as a member of the Lyons Club, Odd Fellows and. the Masons in Endicott and Elmira and an active Kiwanian in Vestal and Southport. Passed away on Friday July13, 2007 at the age of 87. Born on June 29, 1920 in Ellenburg, NY. He was a loving husband to Bernice Hennrich for 56 years until her passing in 1998. He was enlisted in the United States Army during WWII during the “Battle of the Bulge” in the 308th Artillery Battalion. He retired from Schweizer Aircraft after 25 years of faithful service. A long time resident of the Elmira Community, passed away on Saturday morning, June 9, 2007 at Founders Pavilion peacefully.
Born on January 20, 1912 in New York City, Marguerite was the daughter of David W. & Nellie Horton Crandall. She was the loving wife of Alfred H. Austin until his passing in 1984. Faithfully she attended and was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Elmira Heights. Marguerite was an advocate for education and graduated from SUNY Geneseo with her teaching degree. She influenced young lives in the many years she taught school first in the Corning City School District and later in the Elmira City School District until her retirement in 1972. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano. Marguerite was a former Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving is her daughter Elaine & Stephen Skellett II, Corning, NY; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Austin; five grandchildren, Stephanie & Michael McDonald, Claire Ann & John Berleue, Erik Austin, Victoria & Jon Books, Elizabeth & Joel Robinson; seven great grandchildren, Nichole & Dante’ Bocage, Chelsea, Curtis, Hannah, Erik, Ellie, Michael and Ben; nieces, nephews and family friends. Marguerite was predeceased by her beloved son, David Wayne Austin in 2005.
Family and friends will be received at the Caywood’s Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Monday evening, June 11, 2007 from 6-7 p.m. Funeral servicecs will follow at 7:15 p.m. with her pastor, the Reverend Robert Adkins officiating. Age 87 of Big Flats, NY passed away Saturday June 9, 2007 at Elcor Heath Services peacefully with his loving family by his side. Born on September 15 1919 in Elmira. Dick was the son of Ralph C. & Mabel Hayes Reese. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Naomi Nail Reese. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Pierri) Reese; children, Barbara (Frank) Spinelli of Buffalo; Jeanne Reese (Jodie Estes) of Elmira; Steven (Lisa) Reese of LeRoy, NY; grandchildren Stacey (Steve) Koch, Vincent Spinelli and Richard Spinelli of Buffalo, NY; Erica (Kyle) Elston, Marcy DeNunzio, Amy DeNunzio (Justin Clark) of Elmira; Emily and Tyler Reese of LeRoy, NY; and 3 great-grandchildren, Hunter and Sarah Clark and Jack Elston of Elmira; sisters-in-law, Loretta Reese of Horseheads; Ennis Reese of Pine City, Barbara Nail of Horseheads; Amy Blake of Elmira; and June (Steve) Kerestan of Greenville, NC.
Dick was employed by Pipe Welding Supply for 26 years as office and purchasing manager. Devoted to his community, he served as the Southport Town Justice for 24 years. He was a life member of the Horseheads BPO Elks, a member of the NYS Magistrates Assoc. serving 2 terms on the executive Committee, the Elmira Heights American Legion, a past president of the Purchasing Management of the Twin Tiers and a former member of the Relaxed Squares. Dick was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church. He served 33 months overseas in Africa, Sicily and Italy as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps. During WWII. A loving family man he devoted himself to his family.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Tuesday June 12, 2007 between the hours of 5-8 p.m. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 8:15 p.m. with the Reverend Bill Vallet officiating. Private graveside services will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, where full military honors will be accorded Mr. Reese. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice in Dick’s memory.

Formerly of Ohio Ave, Elmira, passed away Saturday May 19, 2007 at Bethany Village. Born in Corning, NY, Lucille was the daughter of Bert & Florence Rogers Griswold. She was an employee at Kelley Drug as a sales associate. She enjoyed yard work, antiques and knitting. Surviving are nieces; nephews, friends and neighbors, including a special friend, Jane Ditler. In addition to her parents, Lucille was predeceased by her husband, George Sykes, and her brother & sister-in-law, Howard & Marjorie Cary. As she requested, there were no services and she was interred in Woodlawn Cemetery next to her late husband, George Sykes. Lucilles family would like to thank the caring health care professionals at Bethany Manor who made her final years so comfortable. God Bless Each of You.
Pierce, Ethel
A long time resident of Pennsylvania Ave. Pine City passed away peacefully in her home with her loving family by her side on Monday morning, March 5, 2007 at the age of 84.
Born on May 17, 1922 in Snedekerville, PA, Ethel was the daughter of Chauncey and Bertha Holton Wright. She graduated from Troy High School in 1941. Ethel married Frederick Allen Pierce on December 9, 1942 in Elmira. Together they shared over 60 years of companionship and marriage until his passing on March 3, 2006. A warm and caring mother and grandmother, Ethel is survived by her children, Fay “Sue” & Douglas Palmer, Alabama; and Robert “Mack” & Ingrid Pierce, Germany; two cherished grandchildren, Jordan and Lauren Palmer; sisters Jane Alexander, Frances (Donald) Shaffer and sister-in-law Catherine Wright, brothers Walter “Pete” and (Polly) Wright; H. Donald (Betty) Wright; and Albert Wright.
She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Chauncey Wright, Richard (Georgiana) Wright and Albert’s wife, Marge (Ross) Wright and a brother-in-law, Laverne Alexander.
Ethel worked hard all her life to include jobs and friendships made at: Goodfriends, Peck’s Hardware, Remington Rand, Stiles and Son Realty, becoming a realtor and later managing the Coachman Motel, and Southern Tier Health and Credit.
Her many interests consisted of gardening, crocheting, reading, traveling, and family time, particularly after she retired. She was dedicated to her friends and family offering help in a time of need or companionship. Ethel enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City with her friends. She had fun at the casinos and loved being near the ocean.
Ethel and Fred enjoyed traveling, routinely visiting their children and families at their various military assignments to include Germany and Alabama.
A celebration of life will be held at Caywood’s Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway on Thursday May 24, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. with her pastor, The Reverend William Vallet officiating. Her ashes will be interred in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, PA. Memorials may be directed to the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church, 1238 Pennsylvania, Ave. Pine City, NY 14871 or Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 E. Corning Rd. Fenton., Lewis W. Sr.
A resident of the Pine City community passed away peacefully Thursday morning, May 10, 2007at his home with his loving family at his side at the age of 87. Born on December 17, 1920 in Wyalusing, PA, Lew was the son of Lewis & Anna Baker Fenton. Lew married Laura J. Stevens on June 29, 1951 in Elmira. He was employed for Corning Inc. with over 50 years of active and retired service. An outdoorsmen, He enjoyed hunting and fishing. A true sportsmen, Lew was an avid bowler and league champion at Dixie Lanes; he also followed NASCAR and was a Jeff Gordon fan.
He is survived by his loving family of seven daughters and four sons and their families. In addition to his parents, Lew was predeceased by his loving wife, Laura Fenton in 2000, and his grandson, William Hildebrand Jr. in 1999. Lew was the last surviving sibling of thirteen.

Age 56 of Chemung, NY passed away Monday May 7, 2007. Danny was very well loved by his family and many friends. He grew up in Waterloo, NY where he was born on January 8, 1951 son of Carl D. & Alice Norcott Van Tassel. He married Jane Schendel on July 18, 1970 in Waterloo. His many interest included hunting, Pike fishing, boating. Danny served two years in the United States Air Force. He was employed by the Labor Union # 1358 in Elmira Heights for many years and worked in highway construction. . After moving to Chemung he raised and took care of his loving family who survive, his wife and companion of 36 years, Jane Van Tassel, along with their children, Sheila Perry, Cheming, NY; Valerie Van Tassel, Deltona, FL; Shawn (Angela) Van Tassel, New Freedom, PA; Danny’s mother, Alice Van Tassel, Waterloo, NY; a sister, Gloria (Derek) Scott, Limestone, TN; three brothers, Kirk Van Tassel, Chemung, NY; Marvin (Linda) Van Tassel, Santa Rosa Beach, FL; Kenny Van Tassel, Ft.
