Schulz, Vera M.
A resident of Horseheads, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital following an illness at the age of 92.
Vera was born on September 29, 1914 in Boaz, WI, daughter of Neil & Bessie Ewers. She was married to Raymond Schulz in 1949 and he predeceased her in 1986. Vera retired from the United States Postal Service. She was proud of her war effort, having worked for General Motors during WWII as an aircraft engine inspector. A born again Christian, Vera was devoted to prayer and sustained a deep faith with her Lord through good and bad times in her life. She loved bird watching, making her homemade bread, taking walks and reading. She was well known at Maranatha Bible Chapel where she was an active member.
Surviving are her loving children, Ruth Beirne, OR; Roberta (Ken) Scholten, TX; Rebecca Schulz, Horseheads; Rodney (Donna) Schulz, MA; a daughter-in-law, Fredine Cole; eight grandchildren, Kathleen Cole, Charlene Block, Christina Andries, Curtis, David and Amanda Schulz, Bill and Blake Boyland; two great grandchildren, Jennifer Block and Shane Pervis; a great great grandchild, Tristan; nieces, nephews and a close church family. In addition to her parents and husband, Vera was predeceased by her son Richard Cole.

Koponen, Lauri H.
Of Pine City, passed away peacefully at Elcor Health Services on Sunday morning, December 17, 2006 following an illness at the age of 76 one day before his 77th birthday.
Born on December 18, 1929 in Sayre, PA; Lauri was the son of Andrew & Agnes Soini Koponen. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Lauri was a loving husband and friend to his wife of 43 years, Jean Simmons Koponen; a father to Kim Koponen, Pine City, NY; a step-father, Anita R. (Ernest) Shimp, Clyde, NY; John E. (Patricia) Goble, Elmira, NY; and David R. (Karen) Goble Latham, NY; a grandfather to eleven and a great grandfather to eight. Lauri's love of the outdoors and nature made for many hunting and camping memories with his family. He was employed for many years at Elmira Tobacco and Swift Meats. Lauri attended Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Laurie was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Leo & Juanita Koponen.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Thursday, December, 21 2006 between the hours of 11 a.m.-1 p.m. A memorial service will follow the visitation at Caywood's at (1 p.m.). Lauri's ashes will be interred in the Woodlawn National Cemetery Wall with full military honors.
Seymour, Bernice Marie
A longtime resident of the Southport community, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday evening, December 14, 2006 at her home with her family at her side.
Born in Gillett, PA, Marie was the daughter of Fred H. & Blanche Updike Brewer. She married Wilson E. Seymour in 1941 and he predeceased her in 2005. Marie was employed by Castle Cleaners for many years; She was also a homemaker, loved rose gardening and took enjoyment in crocheting, walking and camping with her family. Marie served the Lord as a member of the Millerton Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her loving children, Donna & George King, Dundee; Ronald & Lois Seymour, Gillett, PA; Dena & Ward Friends, Millerton, PA; Linda & Butch Serfas, Woodbury, TN; her brothers, brothers, Bradley (Clara) Brewer, Millerton, PA; Burdette (Sara Mae) Brewer, Lawrenceville, PA; and Bill Brewer Lawrenceville, PA; Betty Kerr, Pine City; brother-in-law, Phillip & Lea Seymour, Big Pond, PA; along with nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many cherished family friends. Mosher, Mary Etta
A long time resident of Kinner Hill Rd. Pine City passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital following an illness.
Born on May 27, 1932 in Blossburg, PA Mary Etta was the daughter of Henry & Ella Hakes Gleason. She married David Mosher on March 1, 1952 in Keenneyville, PA. Mary Etta was employed by the Elmira City School District for 27 years as the Cafeteria Manager. She attended the Millerton United Methodist Church. Mary Etta was a long time member of the Harmony Loyal Chapter of the Eastern Stars. She enjoyed camping and trips to Florida.
Surviving is her husband of 54 years, David Mosher, Elmira; their children, Allyn & Jeanette Mosher, Pine City; Gary & Kristie Mosher, Gillett, PA; and Carol (Nelson Harris) Wheeler, Elmira; a sister, Grace Driebelbies, Wellsboro, PA; six grandchildren, Patrick, Heather and Jillian Mosher, Mark Karen and Christopher Wheeler; a great granddaughter, Delaney Owen; four step grandchildren, Bridget Seney, Brian, Joshua and Sarah Cox; two step great grandchildren, Makayla and Joshua Cox Jr. several nieces, nephews and family friends. McCarthy, Michael R.
A long time resident of West Elmira passed away Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center after declining health with his family by his side.
Born on September 18, 1937 in Hornell, NY, Mike was the son of Lawrence & Bernice Preston McCarthy. He married Doris Francisco on August 20, 1960 in Hornell. Together they raised a close and loving family. "His beloved wife's Garden was his oasis" Mike was employed by Robinson Lumber in the paint department for many years. He was a United States Marine field bugler who always remained patriotic to his country. Instrumental in local youth, Mike was very active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years. In serving the Lord, He was active in the "Promise Keepers" and the A.C.T.S. Group.
Surviving is his loving family who cherish his memory, his wife, companion and best friend, Doris Francisco McCarthy; their children, Ann Michele McCarthy, NYC; Kathleen Rose (Robert) Hansen, Horseheads; Michael Edward (Katelyn) Murphy-McCarthy, Norcross, GA; four grandchildren, Kevin, Jeffrey and Julie Hansen, Aiden Murphy-McCarthy; a brother, Lawrence (JoAnn) McCarthy, Hornell; many nieces and nephews and many cherished family friends along with his canine companion, "Frisco". Mike was predeceased by his two brothers and three sisters.

Formerly of Dry Run Rd. Pine City and presently of Beaver Dams passed away Saturday morning December 9, 2006 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center following a brief illness and complications from a stroke.
Born on May 3, 1943 in Austinville, PA Sharon was the daughter of the late Robert Tiffany & Margaret Berry. She was well known in the Southport Community having been the proprietor of Broadway Hair Fashions. She loved all living things, including her boxers as well as a host of other animals which she & her husband raised on "Magic Mountain." Sharon had passion in all that she did. Her love of water and sailing would often lead her to Seneca Lake. She was also a very talented artist. She enjoyed gardening because it helped her to connect with Mother Earth. Through her last years, Sam spent countless hours researching alternative & holistic healing. She became a Reiki Master founding a group called "Soul Discovery Thru Reiki" which has over a thousand members throughout the world. It was her desire to send unlimited love, joy, peace, compassion, wisdom, and abundance to all she met.
She was a loving wife and mother to her family who survive and cherish her memory.

Baty, Anne A.
Age 86, residing in Elmira Heights, passed away Friday evening, December 1, 2006 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Born in Auburn, NY, Anne was the daughter of Nicholas & Antoinette Speen. She was married to Harry Baty Jr. who predeceased her. Anne was well known in the Elmira Heights community as a hard working and loving mother. With for over 36 years of employment, Anne provided customers excellent service at Pierce's 1894 Restaurant. She was a long time communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church. Her many interests included watching football, playing cards, taking care of her home and raising her family which she was very proud of.
Surviving are her loving daughters, Pamela & William Cavaluzzi, Horseheads and Deborah & Trevor Ball, Saluda, VA; her five grandchildren, Brian and Kristen Cavaluzzi, Nikki, Lori and Steven Allegretto; a great granddaughter, Isabella Paschall; sisters, Paula Jividen, Horseheads and Helen Manwaring, Elmira Heights; Anne's close friends and coworkers, Dorothy Brown, Helen Hancock and Karen Vaughn; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Anne was predeceased by her brothers and a sister-in-law, Alex & Mary Speen; John Speen and her brother-in-law, John Jividen.

MacNeal, Raymond
A longtime resident of the Southport community passed away Thursday evening, November 30, 2006 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center following an illness at the age of 85.
Born on June 22, 1921, Ray was the son of Ellison Curtis & Edna Engle MacNeal. He married Bessie Lev in 1946; together they have enjoyed 60 years of companionship. He was an Army Airforce Veteran of WWII and was a member of the American Legion Ernest Skinner Post # 1612, V.F.W. Rex Field Post # 901and a life long member of the Disabled American Veterans. Ray was a well respected by his coworkers, having been employed at the Remington-Rand, Ward LaFrance and Upstate Tool Co. Ray's interests included fishing at their family cottage on Seneca Lake and providing for his loving family who survive. His loving wife and companion, Bessie Lev MacNeal; along with their two children, James & Judith MacNeal, Southport and David & Sally MacNeal, Elmira; six grandchildren, Joan Rice, Jill Grantier, Joel, John, Megan and Ryan MacNeal; nine great grandchildren, Devon, Hunter and Grace Grantier, Dakota and Brayden MacNeal, Elizabeth, Andrew and Jonah Rice, Brady Vaughn; uncle Glen Engle, Horseheads.

A long time resident of Elmira Heights passed away on Thursday morning, November 30, 2006 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center following an illness at the age of 94.
Born in Leolyn, PA, LaVina was the daughter of Guy & Elnora Carey Bastion. She was married to Paul Benjamin in 1928 and he predeceased her in 1960. She was employed for 30 years at Eclipse and also operated the Benjamin Personal Care Home for over 24 years, where she provided excellent care for the elderly. She was a long time member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and an active part of the Elmira Heights community.
Surviving is her loving family, a son and daughter-in-law, James & Phyllis Benjamin, Riverview, FL; a brother, Daniel Bastion, Odessa, NY; along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews including, Seward & Doris Spencer who provided her with wonderful care and friendship. In addition to her parents and husband, LaVina was predeceased by her sisters, Lilly Saunders, Daisy Spencer, Violet Smith, Myrtle Smith, Gladiola "Gladys" Griffin, Flossie Bastion, Chrysanthemum "Chris" Fisher; a brother, Guy Benjamin Bastion Jr.

Ruth was born on December 16, 1911 in Elmira, daughter of Jessi & Gertrude Hagar. She was employed for many years at the Remington-Rand. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Ave. United Methodist Church and the Excelsior Chapter # 323 of the Eastern Stars. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family who survive; her children, Richard (Ann) Hitchcock, Daytona Beach, FL; Joan Dygert, Sarasota, FL; and Marlene Fudge, Millerton, PA; a proud grandmother of forty one including, twelve grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her daughter, Jean Orton; a sister, Lida Gamble; a brother, Wesley Hagar; sons-in-law, Leonard Fudge, John Dygert and William Orton.

A longtime resident of South Broadway, Wellsburg, NY went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, May 22, 2006 peacefully in the home he built fifty six years ago within the care of his family, wonderful friends and Southern Tier Hospice at the age of 86. Art was born in Elmira on March 14, 1920, son of Hazel MacDougal Caywood. He learned at an early age the importance of hard work as he left school to help support his mother and siblings. He worked on a farm in Himrod through his teen years. Art married Alice Montene Holland on August 30, 1941 in Harrison Valley, PA. In honor of his brother, James E. Caywood who was killed in Italy during WWII, Arthur joined the United States Navy. While in service, his ship came under enemy fire and several of his comrades lost their lives. Following the war, he returned home to raise a family. A skilled carpenter, he built several homes in the area. He was well known within his trade as a Tool & Die Maker. A quiet unassuming gentlemen, Art found enjoyment in family outings, traveling to Virginia, dining out, quiet afternoons at the lake and most especially a long day of golf with his buddies at the Mark Twain Golf Course. He was proud of his family and always encouraged us to do better. His hard work and sacrifices made it possible for his family to have an easier life than he had growing up.
Surviving is his loving family, including his wife of 65 years, Alice Montene Holland Caywood; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannette & Thomas Congdon, Pine City; Sheila & Bo Jennings Fink, Strausburg, VA; a son, James Caywood, Southport; four grandchildren, Rebecca & Dave Davis, Lisa & James Epp, Scott Congdon, and Michael Fink; seven great grandchildren, Ashton Davis, Rachel, Stephen, Daniel, Nathan and Elizabeth Epp and Brooke Congdon Binford; a sister, Mary Caywood Rice, Elmira Heights; sisters-in-law, Betty Morgan, Millport and Edna Mascho, Horseheads; several nieces, nephews and his church family at Fassett Baptist, along with many cherished family friends and the companion he had made in his little dog "Corky".

A resident of Athens, PA and formerly of Bentley Creek, PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday December 19, 2007 at the age of 81.
Born on September 24, 1926 in Elmira, NY Arlene was the daughter of Charles W. & Beulah I. Lester Dunlap. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Glenn Paul and their children, Reverend Stephen Paul (Cynthia), Athens, PA; Mary Jane Russell (James), Horseheads, NY; and Karen Paul, Troy, PA; five grandchildren, Christopher Russell (Arin), Stephanie Russell, Laura Newton (Justin), Ryan Paul and Ethan Somers; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey, and Benjamin, along with many nieces, nephews and cherished family friends. In addition to her parents, Arlene was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry & Betty Dunlap and Clair & Rose Alice Dunlap. In serving her Lord, Arlene was very active as a church secretary for the Southside Baptist Church and the Fassett Baptist Church where she was presently a member. She was a member of the American Baptist Woman's Ministries and was on the state boards for both New York and Pennsylvania American Baptist Church's. Arlene was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved caring for her home and keeping in touch with the many friends she made in her life.
Many heartfelt thanks to niece, Sharon Erway, Dr. Schiavone, and the nursing staff of St. Joseph's hospital for the wonderful care given during her extended illness. Ted was born on August 6, 1956 in Elmira son of Robert A. & Ellen P. Friends Farmer.
He was employed with Chemung County ARC for many years. Teds interests included music and dancing. He was a member of the Jackson Summit Baptist Church. Ted enjoyed the Holidays with his many friends and loving family who survive; his mother and step father, Ellen & Richard Hackett, Pine City; his father and step mother, Robert A. & Rose Farmer, Millerton, PA; siblings, Richard Farmer, Rome, NY; Denis Farmer, Elmira; Babie Reece, Elmira; Terry Farmer, Elmira; Raymond Farmer, MO; Tina Hackett, NC; Elizabeth Christman, NC; Several nieces, nephews and many family friends.

Kellogg, Jack W. Sr.
Of Southport at the age 43 passed away Sunday morning, December 2, 2007 at the home of his mother, under her loving care.
Jack was born on August 27, 1964 in Troy, PA son of Donald & Helen Watts Kellogg. Before his illness, Jack was employed by General Revenue and Finance Corp. in Big Flats. His many interests included NASCAR and Fishing. Jack enjoyed watching the Jacksonville Jaguars football games but his greatest joy was time spent with his mother and children who survive.

Easton, Stuart E.
A resident of the Pine City, NY community passed away on Sunday morning, November 25, 2007 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Born on December 16, 1932 Stuart was the son of Charles & Florence Mahar Easton. In serving his country, Stuart served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He married Joan Sullivan on May 30, 1959 in Elmira at Sts. Peter & Paul's Church together they enjoyed 48 wonderful years. He was manager of Consolidated Freightways, Horseheads, NY for 25 years and then retired. Earlier, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for 17 years. His interests included spending time with his family, (especially summers at Keuka Lake) traveling, fishing and playing golf. Stuart was a faithful parishioner at St. Mary's Church. In addition to his loving wife and companion of 48 years, he is also survived by their three children, Craig, his son and wife, Sue Easton, Accord, NY; Mark, his son and wife Alison Easton, Newpaltz, NY; Dr. Caroline Easton Creighton, his daughter and her husband Jay Creighton, Madison, CT; grandchildren, Aimee, Amanda and Maxwell Stuart Easton and William Stuart Creighton. Stuart is also survived by his sister, Bea Brown and brother-in-law, Don Brown; sister, Margaret Morrell and brother-in-law, Don Morrell; a sister-in-law, Kay Easton.

Passed away peacefully, Thursday afternoon, November 1, 2007 at his Pine City home with his loving daughter and caregiver, Linda Corson and church friends by his side.
Born on February 22, 1911 Harold was the son of George W. & Blanche Wright Sheive. In serving his country, Harold was a decorated Army Pilot during WWII. Following his return home he married Lillian Sheive on August 24 1946 in Elmira. Together they remained a constant team until her passing in January of this year. Harold worked as Production Planner for Remington-Rand in Elmira for 35 years. His interests included playing a game of Golf, donating blood regularly and collecting seashells which he created into homemade shell boxes which he gave as gifts. In serving the Lord, he was a former member of the South Creek Evangelical Church and presently the Living Word Evangelical Free Church. Harold was also a proud member of the Gideons International. He was loving and devoted father to his family who survive, children, Marlene (Harry) Roman, Elmira, NY; Donald F. Sheive, Vine Valley, NY; Linda J. (Richard) Corson, Elmira, NY; Bruce C. (Brenda) Sheive of Centreville, VA; daughter-in-law Linda (Richard) Sheive Vine Valley, NY; five grandchildren, Sarah (Ted) Normand, Jozel O’Donnell, Joseph O’Donnell, Davis Sheive and Harrison Sheive, a sister-in-law, Clara Teed, Dundee, NY along with nieces, nephews and many family friends. Passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Thursday, October 18, 2007 with his loving family by his side. Born on July 4, 1921 in Stolp, Germany. Heinz was the son of the late Herman & Minna Zessin Kautz. He was a loving husband and friend to Anni Kautz who he married on December 31, 1943 and she predeceased him in March of 2007. His interests included gardening, reading and stamp collecting and time spent with his family.

A resident of Southport, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, October 17, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital at the age of 82.
Born on January 30, 1925 in Sayre, PA, Donald was the son of Roy & Lorna Rose Gleockner. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret Hakes Gleckner and their children, Stephanie Leupelt, Elmira; Donna Gleckner, Southport; Joel Gleckner, Southport; Tracy & Thomas Wichtowski, Wellsburg; Leslie & Bradley Sullivan, Southport; grandchildren, Carrie, Kenny and Rebecca Leupelt; Angela, Mitchell and Justin Gleckner; Jacob and Matthew Wichtowski; Taylor Boyd; and Alana Sullivan; six great grandchildren; a sister, Joann West, Sayre, PA; brothers, David (Janice) Gleockner,Waverly; and Thomas Gleockner, Elmira Heights; as well as many nieces, nephews and family friends. Donald worked as a machinist at American LaFrance in Elmira, for 30 years. His interests included reading, Revolutionary War history and visiting Civil War Battlefields, playing golf and Euchre. In serving his country, Donald was a United States WW II Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific from 1943 - 1945. He was in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines Sea, Battle of Tara Wa and the Battle of Okinawa. He and his fellow crew received the Presidential Unit Citation on the USS Cabot for their outstanding service. Don was proud to have met the now famous wartime Corespondent, Ernie Pyle, In addition, he also admired Admiral William “Bull” Halsey and Andy Rooney. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Otis Gleockner. Conley, Margaret Faye
Of Sharr Ave. went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, October 4, 2007 while at the Tioga Nursing Facility at the age of 100. Born on March 26, 1907 in Westerville, Ohio, Margaret was the daughter of Lawrence H. & Myrtle Clymer Conklin. Faye earned her teaching degree at the Indiana Wesleyan University and was a school teacher in Westerville, OH where she taught Latin and English. She was married to Reverend Issac Leslie Conley until his passing in 1996. Through out the country they served the Lord as a team for over 50 years in the Wesleyan Church community. Locally they served at the Grace Lee Memorial Wesleyan Church in Beaver Valley and the Elmira Wesleyan Church where Reverend Conley was the pastor for many years. Her many interests included directing plays, and she loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ.
Surviving is her loving daughter and son-in-law, Joy & Ken Squires, Southport; sisters, Helen & Reverend Paul Hunsburger, Seattle WA; Frieda Mae Bennett, Westerville, OH, nieces, nephews and many church and family friends. Went to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at his home in Mosherville, PA. Born October 24, 1921 to Lawrence R. and Nellie Grinnell Palmer in Elmira, NY.
In addition to his mother and father, Bud was also predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Lois (Alton) Crippen; a sister-in-law, Christine Boughton; and a great-granddaughter Ellie Latham.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Virginia McClure Palmer. Their children and spouses: Kathleen (Stephen) Swecker, William (Christine) Palmer, Mary Ann (Eugene) Ploucha, Thomas (Ann) Palmer and Mark (Susan) Palmer. Grandchildren: Jennifer (Sean) Latham, their children, Zoë and Sophie, Todd & Matthew Besanceney, Sarah (Andrew) Haflett, Jeffrey and Katie Palmer, Samuel and Benjamin Palmer. Also, three step-grandchildren and their families. Bud’s siblings: Drexell (Mary) Palmer, Gale (Barbara) Palmer and Joyce Palmer. A brother-in-law: Thomas E. Boughton. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Bud served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Algeria, Sardinia, Corsica and Okinawa during WWII. This selfless, caring and gentle man — a lifelong Phillies fan — is dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

Edger, Jack Alan
Of Elmira passed away Saturday evening, January 12, 2008 at the Arnot-Ogden Medical Center following an illness at the age of 62.
Born on March 26, 1945 in Elmira, Jack was the son of Willis D. & Margaret Allen Edger. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; after returning home he earned his Bachelors Degree. Jack was employed by Thomas & Betts Corp. for many years. An avid sportsmen he enjoyed a game of golf and following the NY Yankees.
He is survived by his loving family, a sister and brother-in-law, Rowena "Red" & Franklin Freeborn, Horseheads; a brother and sister-in-law, Willis & Betty Edger, Ulster, PA; nieces and nephews, Franklin Freeborn, William Freeborn, Hugh (Cheryl) Freeborn, Laurie (John) Howe, Scott Freeborn, Willis (Charleen) Edger, Thomas (Vicky) Edger and Carol (William) Williams, several great nieces and great nephews and cherished family friends.

A long time resident of the Fassett and Gillett communities passed away Monday, January 7, 2008 while under the care of Bethany Health Care and Southern Tier Hospice at the age of 84. Born on September 22, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA, Gertrude was the daughter of John E. & Blanche S. Otto Blake. She was a loving wife to her husband, Elmer Elsworth Fulmer Jr. for over 50 years until his passing in 1994. Their first 20 years of marriage were spent in the Philadelphia, PA area before moving to the Fassett, PA. In serving the Lord, she was an active member of the Fassett Baptist Church. Honored by her family heritage, Gertrude was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution with over 50 years of service. She was also active in the Fassett Grange.Very social, Gerturde made friends easily, as was the case at Bethany Manor.

Passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital following an illness at the age of 80. Born on June 19, 1927 in Elmira, Shirley was the daughter of Francis E. & Edna Mae Olin Thayer. She married Harold B. Long on July 14, 1967 in Lowman, NY together they shared 34 wonderful years until his passing in 2001. Shirley loved to spend time with her family, traveling and caring for her home. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. She is survived by her loving niece and caregiver Linda & Fred Beaver, Elmira; sisters, Edna Evelyn Taylor, Horseheads; Betty Groom, N. Syracuse; and Nancy Green, CA; a brother, Roy Thayer, FL; a daughter, Dianna Marie Breese; a special granddaughter, Darcy D'Errico, FL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many family friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was predeceased by her three brothers, Robert, Edwin and Richard Thayer. Noonan, Karen
Of South Main St. Elmira, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the Arnot-Ogden Medical Center following an illness at the age of 79. Born on May 8, 1928 in Hjorring, Denmark, Karen was the daughter of Laurits & Edith Rasmussen Bogh. She was a loving wife and companion to her husband David Noonan Jr. until his passing in 2001. She graduated from Elmira Business Institute and was employed by both Hills and Ames Department Stores following their closing she began employment for the American Red Cross in Elmira as an office worker. During her employment she held the responsibility of encouraging people to donate a life saving gift. Her many interests included gardening, bike riding and caring for her pet birds. Karen was very active and enjoyed the challenge each day presented.
Karen is survived by her loving children, David & Laura Noonan , Pine City; Laurits Noonan, Elmira; Colleen Scalzo, Elmira; Patrick Noonan, Elmira; Kevin & Eileen Noonan, Elmira; twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister, Vivika Bailey, Mansfield, PA; and a niece, Lisa Bailey.

Bruce was a member of the American Legion Post #0423 of Elmira; F&AM Lodge # 350 Chemung-Waverly, Chemung; Elks # 62 Elmira; Moose Lodge # 1490 Waverly; NARFE of Elmira; A life member of the Ridgebury Sportsman's Club, Gillett, PA. he is survived by a brother-in-law, Frederick A. Benn, New Smyrna Beach, FL; a sister-in-law, Myra E. Morris, Lowman; nieces, Holly Ann Haeger, FL; Carolyne Cesari, NY; nephew, Robert Morris, of NC, and uncle, Revilo Van Horn, Himrod; several cousins, great nieces, great nephew's and many close friends.
