Maria Ana Machado, 83, of Houston, went home to be with her Lord January 30, 2005. Mrs. Machado was born October 7, 1921 in Moore, Texas to Natividad Zuniga and Jacinto Ramos Zuniga. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers & sisters; by her beloved husband Francisco Machado and sons, Robert Z. Machado and Cypriano Machado.
She is survived by sons, Oscar Machado of San Antonio, Texas; Francisco Machado, Jr. of Red Granite, Wisconsin and Arthur Machado of St. Paul, Minnesota; by daughters, Eleanor Martinez of Houston; Valet Machado of Houston; and Nancy Salcedo of Racine, Wisconsin; she also leaves 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Racine, Wisconsin where she will be laid to rest. Arrangements were with Carter Funeral Home.

Kevin Coty Shipman
Kevin Coty "Huck" Shipman, 37, of Channelview, passed away suddenly January 22, 2005. Huck was born January 8, 1968 in San Angelo, Texas to J.E. & Loretta Shipman. He was preceded in death by his father J.E. and is lovingly survived by his mother, Loretta Tyler of San Angelo, Texas; daughter, Patricia Jean Shipman of Shepherd, Texas; brother & sister-in-law, Piyi W. & Teresa Shipman of Pearl, Mississippi; sister, Stephanie D. Killam of Channelview and step-sister, Penny Strachan of Louisiana; as well as aunt Jean and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial Services to celebrate Huck's life were held Wednesday, January 26, 2005 with family and friends in attendance under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Ray Landers Penland
Ray Landers Penland, 80, formerly of Bay City, Texas, went home to be with her Lord, January 22, 2005. She was born October 14, 1924 in Bronx, New York to Samuel & Ida Landers. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as by one daughter, Ray Beth Herrin. She is lovingly survived by son & daughter-in-law, Jeffery & Yvonne Basey of Houston; and by daughter, Karen Evans of Houston; as well as by six grandchildren, Tony Herrin, David Evans, Kelley Evans, Jeana Hernandez, Stephanie Jones and Amy Reindl; and seven great-grandchildren, Schuyler Stevens, Jonathan Warner, Kaitlyn Herrin, Jonas Hernandez, Kolbie Reindl, Jacob Jones and Jackson Jones.
Visitation and Services were held Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at Bay City Baptist Church in Bay City, Texas with Pastor Lee Watson officiating.

Willis Morgan Edwards
Willis Morgan Edwards, 81, of Houston, passed away January 20, 2005. He was born March 13, 1923 in Richton, Mississippi to Willis O. & Cenie Edwards. Mr. Edwards served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked as an industrial insulator for a local chemical construction company for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and well as by his loving wife, Nancy Edwards in October of 2001 and son-in-law, Gerald Guy in July of 2004.
He is survived by son, Jerry M. Edwards of Houston; and daughter, Glynda Guy of Houston; and by brother, Ellis Edwards of Richton, Mississippi, and sisters, Lillian Hillman of Leaksville, Mississippi and Edna Mae Estes of Lucedale, Mississippi. As well as by grandchildren, Claude Autrey, Lisa Navarre, Terry Guy and Rose Guy; and great-grandchildren, Chelsea Wolfenbarger, Mark Wolfenbarger Jr., Tommy Wolfenbarger, Erica Harding, Terry Dwayne Guy, Carri Guy and Alex Guy.
Services celebrating Mr. Edward's life were held Monday, January 24, 2005 at Carter Funeral Chapel with Pastor George Helfrich officiating with military honors by the American Legion Post 521 Memorial Team. He was laid to rest with his beloved Nancy, in Houston National Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Bertie Faye White
Bertie Faye White, 63, of Houston, passed away January 19, 2005 after a lengthy illness. She was born February 18, 1941 in Hemphill, Texas to Ira Wright & Vera Clark Wright who have preceded her in death. She is lovingly survived by husband of 39 years, Danny N. White of Houston ; sons, Johnny Eden, Lewis Eden and David Eden all of Houston; James Eden of Waco ; and Billy White of Illinois ; and by daughters, Sheila Pua of Channelview and Deborah Root of Missouri. She also leaves 1 brother, 3 sisters and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were with Carter Funeral Home.

Mildred Becker Lewis
Mildred Becker Lewis, 91, of Crosby, formerly of Portland, Oregon. Passed away January 13, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford M. Lewis in 1972 and also by one sister, Helen Scheuerman. She is lovingly survived by her son, Pastor Robert Lewis & wife Diane of Crosby; and by grandson, Joshua Lewis also of Crosby. Services celebrating her life were held Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Carter Funeral Chapel with Mr. Johnny Noel officiating. She will be laid to rest in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon on Tuesday, January 18, 2005. Arrangements by Carter Funeral Home.

Nina Maria Williams
Nina Maria Williams, 57, of Galena Park, passed away January 12, 2005. Nine was born October 2, 1947 in Monroe, Louisiana to Pat Harrison Williams Sr. and Fannie Olene Burns Williams. She is preceded in death by her parents and by brother, James David Williams. She is survived by sisters, Frankie Eanes of Houston and Susan Williams of Seattle, Washington; and by brothers, Pat H. Williams Jr. of Jasper, Texas and Timothy Williams of Humble, Texas; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service was held Thursday, January 13, 2005 with family and friends in attendance. Arrangements with Carter Funeral Home.

Robert David Stockstill
Robert David Stockstill, 48, of Houston, passed away January 11, 2005. He was born August 8, 1956 in New London, Connecticut to Donald P. & Joanne Stockstill. He is preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Tracey Stockstill. He is survived by brothers, Dane Stockstill of Concord, North Carolina; and Dean Stockstill of Florida ; by special friend David Overall of Houston as well as by numerous other family members and friends. Memorial Services were held Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Carter Funeral Chapel with Pastor John Haymon officiating.

Barbara Ann Kelly
Barbara Ann Kelly, 61, of Channelview, passed away January 10, 2005. She was born November 6, 1943 in Fenton, Missouri. She is survived by husband, John S. Kelly of Dayton; sons, George Edward Higgins of Dayton, TX and James Daniel Higgins of Channelview; daughters, Janet Thomas and Tracey Marie Higgins of Channelview; as well as by mother, Beulah Vance of Columbia, Missouri; sisters, Caroline, Anita and Becky; friend and father of her children, Edward William Higgins; and by 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Friday January 14, 2005 at Carter Funeral Chapel.

Cynthia Powell Baker
Cynthia Powell Baker, 45, of Baytown, passed away February 28, 2005. She was born February 7, 1960 to Bobby Powell & Patsy Wilson Powell. She is survived by two sons, her mother Patsy Rivera of Baytown ; as well as numerous aunts, nieces and cousins. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements with Carter Funeral Home.

Louise Rydolph Mike
Louise Rydolph Mike, 72, of Houston went home to be with her Lord February 28, 2005. She was born January 14, 1933 in Bloomington, Texas to Ernest & L.C. Rydolph.. She married Otis C. Mike on September 25, 1948 and was a member of Abiding Love Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, O.C. Mike of Houston; daughters, Linda Bell of Victoria, Texas; Patricia Davis and Brenda Enard both of Houston; sons, Ernest Mike and Kenneth Mike both of Houston; brother, Ernest Rydolph Jr. of Victoria and sister Rose Marie Rydolph of Houston; step-sisters, Lee Etta Howard of Austin, Rosetta Mumford of Victoria; and step-brother, Ned Howard of Bloomington, Texas along with 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services celebrating her life were held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Carter Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Marcellus D. Bolden officiating.

Fred Clifford Isbell
Fred Clifford Isbell, 82, of Channelview, passed away February 21, 2005 after a long illness. He was born October 31, 1922 in Caldwell, Texas to George W. & Amelia Isbell. He was a veteran of World War II with service in the U.S.Army. He married Mary Ann Zorn on January 24, 1950, and resided in the Channelview area for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Isbell of Channelview; brother, George W. Isbell, Jr. of Beaumont; and sister, Annie Albina Sides of Topeka, Kansas; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services celebrating his life were held Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at Uvalde Baptist Church with Rev. Galen Cooper officiating. He was laid to rest in Houston National Cemetery with full military honors by the V.F.W. District 4 Memorial Team under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Esther Miles
Esther Miles, 82, of Galena Park, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, February 20, 2005. She was born January 25, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Sol & Eva Zimberoff. She married Luther P. Miles on July 12, 1947 and resided in the Galena Park area for many years. She was a member of First Baptist of Galena Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by 3 brothers, Al, Sol and Norm and by one sister, Clara. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Luther Miles of Galena Park; daughter, Bonnie Strickland of Humble; sons, Martin Louis Miles of Huffman and Woody Miles & wife Veronica of Houston; one brother, Harold Zimberoff of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and sister Sarah Holland of Clearwater, Florida; as well as by six grandchildren, Miranda, Jason, Adam, Aaron, Cory and Galen; and four great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Isaiah, Lindsey and Kimberly.
Services celebrating Esther's life were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2005 at Carter Funeral Chapel with Mr. Donnie Carnathan officiating. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Shirley Ann Pasquinel
Shirley Ann Pasquinel, 63, of Houston, passed away February 15, 2005. She was born June 8, 1941 in Houston to Harold & Elsie Futch. She is survived by son, Joseph Harold Scarborough of Houston; and daughter, Tonjia Lisa Scarborough also of Houston ; as well as by 3 grandchildren, Brooke Scarborough, Kristopher Scarborough and Madison Scarborough. Rita Marie Curry
Ms. Rita Marie Curry, 61, of Highlands, Texas passed away February 11, 2005. She was born September 15, 1943 in Austin, Texas to Fred & Roy Lorraine Windham. She is survived by sons, Mike Curry of Cleveland, Texas and John Curry of Porter, Texas ; and by special friend Michael Carlson and ex-husband, Edward Curry both of Highlands ; as well as by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Private Memorial Services were held Saturday, February 19, 2005. Arrangements with Carter Funeral Home.

Mayo Idom
Mr. Mayo Idom, 74, of Houston, went home to be with his Lord, February 11, 2005. Mr. Idom was born March 31, 1930 in Lake, Mississippi to L.H. & Leona Idom. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He married Frances Lucille Schumacher on December 2, 1952, raised a family and worked for Champion Paper in Pasadena until he retired in 1986 after 33 years. He loved fishing and had a passion for gardening. He especially loved his roses.
He is preceded in death by his parents and by brothers, Charlie & Curtis Idom ; sister, Emily Freeman and by son, Faron Idom in 2003. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucille Idom of Houston; son & daughter-in-law, Ron & Ava Idom of Dallas, Texas; daughters & sons-in-law, April & Stanley Trekell of Anchorage, Alaska and Jo Ann & Mark Harty of Pasadena, Texas; daughter-in-law, Annie Idom of Seattle, Washington; brothers, Clifton Idom of Houston; Laverne Idom of New Caney; Daniel Idom of Houston; sister, Eunice Henderson of Houston; as well as grandchildren, Parick Idom, Audrey Idom, Joseph Trekell, Aspen Clifton & husband Sean, Amberlyn Idom, Julie Pinson & Zackary O'Conner.
Services celebrating Mayo's life were held, 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2005 at Market Street Baptist Church with Pastor Walt Snyder officiating. He was laid to rest with full military honors by the American Legion Post 586 Memorial Team, in San Jacinto Memorial Park under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Jeffrey Jay Reynolds
Jeffrey Jay Reynolds, 41, of Channelview, passed away, February 8, 2005. He was born May 2, 1963 in Fort Worth, Texas. He is survived by sons, Christopher and David Reynolds of Shepherd, Texas and by parents, Marshall J. & Patricia Reynolds of Lake Jackson, Texas and one sister, Lisa Allen of Houston. Aubrey "Earl" Wood
Aubrey "Earl" Wood, 69, of Houston, passed away February 6, 2005. He was born January 31, 1936 in Ballinger, Texas to Edmond & Lorena Wood. He worked as a maintenance worker with Harris County Parks & Recreation for 30 years. He is preceded in death by both parents, as well as brothers & sisters, Jackie, Sandra, Betty, Donna, Mary Linday & Douglas.
He is lovingly survived by children, James Wood of Galena Park; Jesse Stokes of Houston and Jeffery Thresher of St. Louis, Missouri; daughters, Audrey Garcia of Cleveland, Texas; Joy Wood Bellamy of Highlands; Joanna Thresher of Arnold, Missouri; Jennifer Jones and Jetta Penrod both of New Caney, Texas; He also leaves behind sisters & brothers, Florene McKnight of Pasadena; Effie Jo Engbrock of Houston; W.G. Wood of Mancum, Texas; Doyle Dean Wood of Justin, Texas; and Maybelle Graham of Boonsville, Texas; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many good friends from the Cloverleaf area.
Visitation and Chapel Services were held Monday evening, February 7, 2005 in the Garden Chepel of Carter Funeral Home.

Jesus "Jesse" Alvarez
Jesus "Jesse" Alvarez, 26, of Houston, went home to be with his Lord, February 4, 2005. He was born April 7, 1978 in Harlingen, Texas. He was preceded in death by one brother, Eric Alvarez and he is lovingly survived by his parents, Gilberto and Belia Castaneda of Houston; wife, Alisha Alvarez of Houston; brother, Moses Alvarez of Houston; sisters, Lydia Rose Ortuno & husband Amado of Houston; and Mandy Seleste Alvarez of Houston; grandmother, Lidia Alvarez of Rio Hondo, Texas; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Services celebrating Jesse's life were held Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at Carter Funeral Chapel with Rev. Andy Plunk officiating. He was laid to rest beside his brother in Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Ralph Edward Melody
Ralph Edward Melody, 62, of Houston, passed away February 3, 2005. He was born November 2, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware to Gordon H. Melody and Annie Vance Shaw Melody. He married Betty Diane Colbert on June 23, 1972 and worked as an ironworker for a construction company. He was a member of the Steel Construction Local 84.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Melody of Houston; daughters, Dawn Melody of Manville, Texas and Betty Joanne Patterson & husband Sean of Norfolk, Virginia; brother & sisters, Hugh Melody of Wilmington, Delaware; Jeanette Snyder of Dagsboro, Delaware and Marion Ward of Wilmington, Delaware; and one grandchild, Aaron "Bailey"Mattix.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were through Carter Funeral Home.
