Yvon Parent, 88, of 276 Torringford West St. Torrington died Friday Jan. 21, 2005 at his home. He was the husband of Laurette (Bousquet) Parent. Born December 28, 1916 in St. Alphonse, Quebec Canada, he was the son of the late Omer and Alexia Parent. He moved to Enosberg Vt in 1927 and married in Richford VT in 1940 where he was a dairy farmer until he moved to Torrington in 1966. He was employed by the Turner and Seymour Mfg. Company in Torrington until his retirement.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, he leaves his children, Patricia Bertoldi and Denise Gyurko of Torrington, Louise Dwan of Northfield, Pierrette Duso of South Burlington VT, Alan Parent of Lyndonville VT, and Real Parent of Westberg VT, seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He also leaves a sister Georgette Theriault of Quebec Canada, and was predeceased by a brother Baldor Parent and a sister Yvette Chauvin.

Barbara Seaback Annis, 74, of Satsuma FL,
WINSTED--Barbara Seaback Annis, 74, of Satsuma FL, a former Winsted area resident died Tuesday Jan.18 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas Annis. Born in Torrington March 30, 1930 daughter of the late Leslie and Alice (Noonan) Hine, she lived in Winsted and Harwinton prior to moving to Florida. She was a graduate of Saint Francis School in Torrington and was a former employee of Dano Electric in Winsted and also Sunalex in Florida. She was a Communicant of Saint Monica's Church in Palatka Florida and a member of Senior Friends and The Children of Mary. She also was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her children, Michael Seaback and his wife Susan of New Hartford, Charles Seaback and his wife Ellen of Winsted, and Janet Singer of Coral Gables FL. She also leaves grandchildren Justine and Danielle Singer, Alison, Brian, Robert, and Caroline Seaback, a sister Claire Townsend of Portsmouth RI, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a step father Henry Landry and a brother James Hine.

Lola Mae Cyr, 61, of 21 Oak Ave. Ext. Torrington
died Saturday January 8 at her home. She was the wife of Philip J. Cyr. Born in Waterbury Feb. 19, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Richard and Leora (Snyder ) Andrews. She was employed by O&G Industries in Torrington for 34 years.
She was a member of The Sokol Club and also belonged to their bowling league, and was active in fund raising for The United Way and Cancer Charities.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Daniel Finello and his wife Liza of Torrington and two daughters, Diane Thompson and her husband Thomas Thompson Jr of Simpsonville SC and Michele Cyr of Torrington and eight grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers, Gene Andrews of Houston TX and Gordon Snyder of Torrington.

Theresa Barella, 86, formerly of 244 Forest Street in Torrington
died Sunday Jan 2, 2005 at Wolcott Hall. Born in Torrington Oct. 14, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Clorindo and Frances (Guillou) Barella. She was employed by Cigna for 28 years, retiring in 1979.
She was an avid bingo and card player.
She is survived by two brothers, Frank Barella of Plattsburgh NY and Clorindo Barella of New Hartford, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Emma Smith, Rosemary Hall, Catherine and Levia Barella and brothers Ernest and Richard Barella.

Edward G. Fulop Sr. 73, of 52 Willow Street Torrington
died Tuesday Dec. 28 at his home. He was the husband of Jean (Ellis) Fulop. Born in Torrington Nov. 19, 1931 son of the late John and Ruth (Douyard) Fulop, he attended Saint Francis School and graduated from Torrington High School. He was a long time employee of Doyle's Pharmacy in Torrington and later worked at Big Value in Bantam.
He was a long time Little League coach and also coached Varsity Alumni League and Young Men's League basketball He was a member of The Valley Park Athletic Club and also belonged to Sullivan Senior Center. He was also a big fan of PAL basketball played by his granddaughter and his grandson's soccer and volleyball teams.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Deb Casey and her husband Bill and Tina Hazzard and her husband James, of Torrington and a son Edward Fulop Jr and his wife Barbara of South Windsor, and grandchildren Andrew Fulop, Caitlyn Hazzard, and Billy and Julie Casey. He also leaves two brothers Roger Fulop of Oregon and Thomas Fulop of Plainville and two sisters, Doris Frauenhofer off Nevada and Betty Holloway of Warwick RI.
He was predeceased by two brothers, John and James Fulop.

Joseph L. Boucher, 73, of Garden St Torrington
died December 24 2004 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Marie (Satti) Boucher.
Born in Euclid OH, June 21, 1931 son of the late Leo and Helen (White) Boucher, he was a graduate of Saint Ann's School and attended Crosby High in Waterbury. He enlisted in The US Air Force in 1948 and served until 1953.
He was employed for 36 years by CL&P in Waterbury, serving as a lineman and later as a supervisor, retiring in 1989. He was an avid baseball and basketball player in his younger years and he loved the game of golf, and was a member of Eastwoods Country Club. He was also an active member of The First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Brian Boucher of Stamford, Alan Boucher and Kevin Boucher of Naugatuck, and two daughters, Doreen Fabro of Torrington and Sharon Marek of Chasta MN. He also leaves two brothers, Conrad Boucher of Naugatuck and Ronald Boucher of Bethlehem, and a sister Mary Ann Frenette of Watertown, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Elaine Chorozak, 85, of 613 Prospect St. Torrington
died Dec. 18, 2004 at Haven Health Center. She was the wife of Dr. John Chorozak. Born in St. Claire PA. April 9, 1919 daughter of the late Ignace and Josephine Wondro, she was a long time Torrington resident. She was a Communicant of Saint Mary's Church.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a brother Edward Wondro and a sister Elizabeth Luczko, both of New York State.

Patricia Ann Reading, 65, of 189 Wheeler Road, Litchfield,
died Thursday, April 7 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after battling with cancer. Born in South Burlington, Vermont, on April 19, 1939, she married William E. Reading on November 23, 1957, and became a long time East Litchfield resident. A breeder of pedigree dogs, she was a devoted animal lover and a former employee of Hilltop Aquarium in Torrington. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anita Derrick, and step-father, Lee Derrick, both of South Burlington, Vermont, and her brother, Donald Poirier of New Britain, Connecticut. In addition to her husband, William, she is survived by her two daughters, Debra Quinn and her husband Donald of Northfield and Michelle Reading of Litchfield. She also leaves behind three sisters, Barbara Fields of Colchester, Vermont, Dorothy Dauphin and Eleanor Poirier both of South Burlington, Vermont. Patty will be remembered as a wonderful friend, wife, and mother, who touched all of our hearts and will not be forgotten. A memorial service for family and friends will be held later this spring, date to be announced. Nora Quinn, 103, formerly of Brookside Ave Torrington
died Thursday April 7 at Litchfield Woods. Born Feb. 15, 1902 in Roskeen County Tipperary Ireland, she was employed by private families in New York before coming to Torrington.
She is survived by nieces and nephews including Jetta Quinn of Niantic, Christine Griffin of Waterbury, Kathleen Kos, Ann Zubrowski, and Jack Ryan of Torrington and many great nieces and nephews.

Stephen A. Simko Jr. 84, of Stratford CT
a long time Torrington resident, died Thursday April 7 at Geer Memorial in Canaan. He was the husband of Shirley (Orie) Simko. Born in Torrington Feb. 5, 1921 son of the late Stephen A. Simko Sr and Mary (Lenart) Simko. He was a graduate of Torrington High School and attended Oliver Wolcott Tech. He served in the US Army during WWII.
He was an electrician and was employed from 1952 to 1975 by Ducci Electric in Torrington as Vice President. In 1975 he became president and owner of Eastern Electric Construction Co. in Bridgeport until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Torrington Elks Lodge, and was a past president of NECA.(National Electrical Contractors Assoc.) He was a member of The Oronoque Country Club and was an avid bowler, golfer, and tennis player.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Thomas Simko and his wife Helen of Litchfield, Roger Simko and his wife Rosemary of Harwinton, Paul Simko and his wife Randy of Woodbury, and a daughter Barbara Fink and her husband David of Melrose MA.
He also leaves a sister Dorothy Sesko of Torrington.

Viola A. Dwyer, 79, of 244 Forest St Torrington
died Thursday Dec. 16 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Born in Torrington, May 21, 1925 daughter of the late Edward L. and Viola (Rogenski) Dwyer, she was a long time resident of Bantam.
She was employed for almost 30 years at PTC Aerospace in Bantam, and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Bantam.
She is survived by a sister Patricia Gottschall and her husband Frederick and a brother Edward L Dwyer and his wife Noma, all of Harwinton.
She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas E. Dwyer and a sister Mabel A. Dwyer.

Christina (Bookless) Rushworth, 89 of 356 Torringford West St. Torrington, CT
Passed away Wednesday after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late Henry Rushworth. She will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Robert Tompkins of Torrington and her son, Robert Rushworth also of Torrington as well as her three grandsons and their wives (Staff Sgt. Scott and Lena Rushworth of Killeen, Texas, Jeff and Liz Tompkins of Burlington, CT and Jason and Robyn Tompkins of New York City) and five great-grandchildren. One of nine children born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, she is also survived by her brother Ronald Bookless of Glasgow and her sister, Janet Valaitis of Torrington.
After immigrating to Torrington in 1953 at age 38 with her husband and children (then 11 and 5 years old) Mrs. Rushworth worked for many years as the Head Housekeeper of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Following her retirement she was active for years with the Torrington Chapter of AARP, traveling extensively with that group, a member of the First United Methodist Church and volunteered for over ten years at the Torrington Soup Kitchen, receiving the Volunteer of the Year Award for her work.
Calling hours are Friday from 9:30-10:30 at the Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave in Torrington followed by a brief memorial service. Burial will be at The Hillside Cemetery in Torrington. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either The Torrington Soup Kitchen or The Torrington Library.
Rollin Charles Wescott, 72, of 10 Sharon Ave Torrington
died Monday Dec 13 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Litchfield. He was the husband of Mary (Fitzpatrick) Wescott. Born in Dover Plains NY April 21, 1932 son of the late Vernon and Dorothy (Treado) Wescott, he was a Veteran of The Korean War serving as a Corporal in the US Army.
He was employed by Local 677 of Waterbury, employed by many years by Cotton Hill Farm in New Hartford and had also worked as a driver for Formaggioni Oil in Torrington. His life long passion was dairy farming and he was active with 4H and also showed at many area Fairs.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Neal Wescott and his wife Jamie of Harwinton and two daughters, Deborah Stanizzi and her husband Ralph of Winsted and Valerie Peacock and her husband Charles of Torrington. He also leaves 8 grandchildren, Jason Roberts, Thomas and Michael Stauckas, Beth Griffen, Tyler and Brandon Wescott, and Katelyn and Shaela Peacock and a great grandson Samuel Stauckas.
He also leaves two brothers, Vernon Wescott Jr of California and Clark Wescott of Woodbury, and two sisters Dorothy Fischer of Terryville and Eilien LaBella of Florida.
He was predeceased by a daughter Lynda Rickert and a brother Raymond Wescott.

Eunice Gioia, 86, of Torrington
died Wednesday April 6 at Valerie Manor. She was the wife of the late Samuel Gioia. Born in Torrington March 29, 1919 daughter of the late Alfred and Dorothy (French) Watson.
She was a former employee of WW. Mertz Co. where she worked for 18 years, and had also worked at McCann's Store and Hayden Mfg. Co.
She was a Gold Star Mother and was a member of Saint Peter's Rosary Society.
She is survived by her son, James Gioia and his wife Susan of Torrington and grandchildren Jessica Bortoloti and Tristan Gioia, and three great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister Priscilla Bruno of Torrington and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son PFC John F. Tino Jr. killed in Vietnam.

Emily C. Ohotnicky, 88, of 219 Northside Dr. Torrington
died Tuesday April 5 at her home following a long illness. She was the wife of 65 years of Stephen E. Ohotnicky.
Born in Jersey City NJ, July 20, 1916 daughter of the late John and Mary (Stach) Wilczek, she was employed by The Torrington Company for 33 years retiring in 1978. She was a member of The Polish National Alliance and a Communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Her hobbies included bowling and baking.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Stephen T. Ohotnicky and his wife Barbara of Granger Indiana and James A. Ohotnicky and his wife Dayna of Thomaston, three grandchildren, Peter Ohotnicky, Susan Riley, and Jill Seibold and eight great grandchildren, and her sister, Mary Nardine of Santa Barbara CA.

Thomas K. Gardiner, 86, of 52 Willow St Torrington
died Friday April 1, 2005 at his home. He was the husband of almost 59 years of Theresa (Ciesco) Gardiner. Born in Glasgow Scotland Oct 28, 1918 son of the late Andrew and Jessie Gardiner, he was a long time Torrington resident.
He served as a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII in The South Pacific, and was the recipient of The Silver and Bronze Star Medals, and later served in The Army Reserves.
He was employed as a tool and die maker for Aerotherm UOP in Bantam for 33 years before his retirement.
He was a former member of Torrington Elks and bowled with their bowling league for many years. He also loved to golf and was a member of The Eastwoods Country Club Retiree's Golf League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Thomas J. Gardiner and his wife Nancy of East Longmeadow Mass., Robert Gardiner of Torrington, and James P. Gardiner of Kings Beach CA, and grandchildren Heather and Scott Gardiner. He also leaves a sister Wilhelmina Kerr of Florida and brother Andrew Gardiner of Torrington.

a former Torrington resident died July 27, 2005 at Bethesda Hospital in Lantana Florida. She was the wife of the late William L. Clark. Born in Winsted May 2, 1927 she was the daughter of the late William Patten, former Torrington Mayor, and Cora Bartholomew Clark.
She is survived by her mother in law, Alice Clark and sister in law Marilyn McCarty and her husband Frank, and two nieces.

Marjorie A. Ross, 80, formerly of 240 New Harwinton Rd and 65 Rockledge Loop in Torrington
died Thursday August 25 at The Governor's House at Harborside nursing home in Simsbury CT. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Ross.
She was born in Torrington Sept. 15, 1924 daughter of the late George and Anna (Couch) Parulis, and was a former employee of The American Cancer Society in Torrington.
She is survived by her daughter Lynn A. Dell and her husband Dave of Simsbury, and sons Joseph (Jay) Ross Jr. and his wife Christine of New York City, James A. Ross and his wife Christine of New Hartford, Robert (Bobby) Ross of Torrington, David J. Ross and his wife Phyllis of Simsbury, and Richard Ross and his wife Sharon of Colebrook, and 13 grandchildren, Jordan, David, and Sammy Dell of Simsbury, Makenzie, James, and Katherine Ross of New Hartford, David, Jr, Danielle, Lauren, Liseanne, and Joelle Ross of Simsbury, and Ryan and Rachel Ross of Colebrook.

Margaret (Peg) Murphy, formerly of Torrington
Passed away August 21, 2005 in Boynton Beach, Florida from injuries received in an automobile accident. Born Margaret Mary Humphries, December 2, 1924 she attended Saint Francis School and was a graduate of Torrington High School where she was voted "Most Popular Girl" Class of 1942.
She attended Amery Riddle Aviation College in Coral Gables FL. She married James E. Murphy in 1948 and together they had 9 children. She was an active member of St. Francis PTA and associated school organizations, as well as being one of the founding members of The Torringford Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She was involved with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and a children's Irish Dance Troupe, Little League, and for many years was a fixture at Torrington High Football games. Always active in politics, she served on The Torrington Democratic Town Committee and was a campaign manager for former Governor Ella T. Grasso. She was instrumental in establishing The Sullivan Senior Center on East Albert St. in Torrington. Residing in Florida for the past 15 years she continued her political involvement and at the time of her death, she was a member of Boynton Beach Parks and Recreation Committee.
She is survived by three sons, Timothy Murphy and his wife Pam of Marietta GA, Patrick Murphy of Litchfield CT, and Michael Murphy and his wife Sheryl of Columbia SC. Her five daughters are Cathleen Bartlett and her husband Robert of Stamford CT, Margaret Allred and her husband Scott of Las Vegas NV, Jane Kish and her husband Bruce of Winsted CT, Mary Elizabeth Kacenski and her husband Daniel of Milford CT,and Christine Delgrande and her husband John of Torrington CT. She has 10 grandchildren Kate Howlett and Kevin Murphy, Amy and Brian Delgrande, Erika and Michael Krish, Ryan and Megan Kacenski, and Thomas and Erin Murphy. She also leaves two sisters, Eileen Hicks of Fayetteville NC and Jane Nickerson of Fort Myers FL, 19 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Kevin Murphy.
