James P. Stoughton, 72, of East Street North, Goshen
died Monday Dec. 6 in Winsted. Born in Waterbury, March 12, 1932 son of the late Roy and Eunice (Holbrook) Stoughton, he served in The US Army during Korea. He was previously employed as an auto mechanic at Weir Motors, Wilson Dodge, and Capuano's, and most recently was employed by his sons at Mountaintop Trucking. He was an avid Model A fan.
He is survived by his long time companion Marguerite Sweeney of Goshen and two sons, Daniel and Duane Stoughton and two daughters Cheryl Knox and Jennifer Stoughton all of Torrington and stepsons Clifton Sweeney and Anthony Friedrich of Torrington and grandchildren Ashley Wilkins, Joshua and Kelli Stoughton. He also leaves two brothers, Bruce Stoughton of Torrington and Ronie Stoughton of Myrtle Beach.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10 AM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. Burial will be at St Thomas Cemetery in Goshen. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Henrietta Rood, of 1955 Torringford West St. Torrington
died Monday Dec. 6, 2004 at Valerie Manor. She was the wife of Russell Rood. Born in Torrington daughter of the late Eugene and Katherine (Farnham) Messenger, she was a life time Torrington resident.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Harriet Pelkey and a sister Joanne Kubina of Torrington and three grandchildren, Willliam Putnoki of Torrington Mariette Slater of New Hartford and Tracy O'Keefe of Middleton Mass. and three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband William Pukas.

Laila Battistoni, 82, of Bantam
died Friday December 3, 2004 at Litchfield Woods in Torrington. She was a loved and loving mother. Born in New London CT December 30, 1921 daughter of the late Oscar and Ina (Kulesa) Haahti, she was a long time resident of Litchfield and Bantam.
She will be remembered for her loving heart and fun-loving manner. A founding member of the Radio Auction for March of Dimes and St. Jude's Children's Hospital, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and American Legion Morgan-Weir Post #27 Women's Auxiliary, she was also a long time baseball fan that died happy.
She is survived by two sons, Louis M. (Corky) Battistoni and David M. Battistoni of Litchfield, and four daughters, Sandra Meyers of Bantam, Jeanette Devaux of Morris, Nanci Battistoni of Harwinton, and Liisa Kelly of Great Barrington MA, eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Gail Spiess of Torrington.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday Dec. 6 11:30 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church 220 Prospect St Torrington. A celebration of her life will follow the service at the home of Nanci Battistoni and Stan Voket 7 Silo Dr. Harwinton CT.

Norma A. Lawrence, 75, of 52 Willow St Torrington
died Friday March 25 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of Everett S. Lawrence. Born in Winsted Nov. 9, 1929 daughter of the late Harold and Theresa (White) Swanson, she was a former employee of Wolcott Hall.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Mary Vickers of Boston MA, and a son Jeffrey Brean of Torrington, step daughters Kathy Patty and Pamela Jaycox and a step son Terry Brean. She also leaves a brother Norman Swanson and sisters Shirely Bernard and Doris Jasmin, and 5 grandchildren. She was predeceased by as son Wayne Brean.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday April 8 at 11:00 AM at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Helen B. Longhi, 85, of 159 Highfield Dr. Torrington
died Saturday March 26, 2005 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Michael E. Longhi. Born in Torrington June 22, 1919 daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Pustinger) Kocsis, she was a former employee of General Time Seth Thomas in Thomaston. She was an arts and craft enthusiast and was active with many of their shows. She was a Communicant of Saint Francis Church and an affiliate of The Sisters of Mercy.
She is survived by her son, Michael A. Longhi and his wife Kathleen and two daughters, Sandra Pasko and her husband Edward and Linda Gardinello, all of Torrington and six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Sister Louise Miriam Kocsis, Sisters of Mercy, Milford CT.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday March 30 at 8:30 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington to Saint Francis Church for a Mass at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Brian E. Ocain, 52, of Greenwoods Road Norfolk
died Saturday March 26 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Born in Torrington March 4, 1953 son of Elwin H. and Inez (Spino) Ocain of New Hartford, he was a graduate of Regional 7 High School. He lived in Lakeville for many years and was a former partner in Lakeville Wine and Spirits. He was the owner of OK Engineering. He was a former member of Norfolk Curling Club and Bristol Fish and Game Club, and his hobbies were cars and horses.
In addition to his parents, he leaves two brothers, Timothy E. Ocain of Torrington and Christopher J. Ocain of New Hartford, and several nieces and nephews.

Michael J Hamm Jr., 81, of 2694 Torringford St Torrington
died Sunday July 9, 2006 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Corrine (Nolet) Hamm. Born in Torrington December 25, 1924 son of the late Michael J Hamm Sr. and Anna Manes Hamm, he was employed by O&G Industries for 13 years. He also owned and operated his own construction company and lumber yard, and farm as well as working for his son Michael for several years.
He served in The US Army during WWII with HQ Co., 1st BN 86th Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, participating in PO Valley offensive and rescue mission to rescue wounded American soldiers from a cliff, he was recipient of European Theater Ribbon, two battle stars, and WWII Victory Medal.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Richard Hamm of Torrington, David Hamm and his wife Sandra of New Hartford, and Michael J Hamm III of Winsted, six grandchildren and two gr.gr grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday July 14 at 1:00 PM at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington.

Nicholas William Biancucci, 18, of Harwinton
died Friday July 7 2006 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born in Hartford July 11, 1987 son of Jerry Biancucci and Lee Ann Curtiss Biancucci, lived in Crowmwell prior to moving to HarwintonBurlington area. He was a graduate of Lewis S Mills High School Class of 2005 and was a student at Tunxis Community College.
In High School he was involved with Cross Country, Lacrosse, and Basketball, and he enjoyed snowboarding, hunting, and his most recent passion was scuba diving.
He was currently employed by Bertucci's Restaurant in Avon.
In addition to his parents of Harwinton, he leaves two brothers, John and Vincent Biancucci of Harwinton and his grandmothers, Julia Curtiss of Sheffield MA and Katherine Biancucci of South Windsor many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Matthew A Dziedzic, 33, of 55 Baron Lane
Died Saturday July 1, 2006. He was born in Torrington July 5, 1972 son of Stanley J. Dziedzic Sr., and Josephine (Knox) Dziedzic of Torrington. He was a graduate of Saint Francis School and Oliver Wolcott Technical School.
He was employed by RJB Contracting Inc. of Torrington and formerly had worked for CH Nickerson Co. and also worked with his father, Stan's Construction Co.
In addition to his parents, he leaves his daughter, Rita Marie Dziedzic and his former wife Erin Riley Dziedzic. He also leaves brothers, Stanley J. Dziedzic Jr and his wife Sue of Winsted and Timothy Dziedzic and his wife Sue of Torrington and sisters Lynn Anderson and her husband Dave, Colleen Dziedzic, and Cindy DuBois and her husband Joe, all of Torrington, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Larry Dziedzic.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday July 7 at 10:00 AM from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to Saint Francis Church for a Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Charles R. (Dick) Logan, 80, of Columbia CT,
died suddenly on Tuesday (May25, 2004). He is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Logan. He was born in Franklin, Ohio on December 17, 1923, the son of Howard and Virginia Logan. He was raised in Pittsburgh and Butler, PA attending local schools there. He served for three years as a United States Marine during WW II stationed primarily in the south Pacific theater of action as well as aboard the USS Shangri-La. After his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Pittsburg earning a Bachelor's degree in only three years of study. After working for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Indiana and Ohio, the family moved to East Hartford, CT where he worked for over twenty five years at the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company in their fuel cell and turbine programs. He was a long time member of the Manchester Barbershop Chorus, the BEARS Amateur Radio Club and the Orient Masonic Lodge of Waverly, Ohio. In recent years he had been actively involved with the Columbia Public Library. He was a prolific reader and loved classical music. Aside from his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Margaret Uziemblo and her husband William of Tolland, a son, Mark H. Logan and his wife Judy of Coventry and a son, Attorney John R. Logan and his wife Nancy of Avon. He was predeceased by both his son Richard L. Logan and his daughter-in-law, Chen Ye, both late of Londonderry, New Hampshire. He is also survived by several sisters and brothers and numerous grandchildren (his "joys").
The funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Torrington Rotary Foundation PO Box 123 Torrington CT 06790.

George Douglas Telford, formerly of Torrington
George Douglas Telford, formerly of Torrington died Sunday May 23, 2004 at his home at Geer Village in Canaan. (77 South Canaan Rd Canaan CT 06018) He was the husband of over 60 years of Genevra "Nem" Telford. He was born in Worcester MA July 28, 1920, and was a founder of Litchfield County Plumbing Supply (LITCO SUPPLY) in 1948 and remained its Chairman of the Board until his death.
He was a WWII veteran serving as a B-24 pilot with the 8th Air Force, 44th bomb group, 66th Squadron out of England. He completed 24 missions and on March 18, 1944 on his 25th mission he was shot down after making two passes over targets to avoid hitting any of the B-17's flying 2000 ft. below them. After delivering their ordinance they encountered heavy enemy fire but were able to land in Switzerland where he and his crew were interned. They escaped as a crew on Sept. 25, 1944 through France with the help of the French Underground. Capt. Telford was awarded the Air Medal with 3 oak clusters, the Purple Heart, North American Defense Medal, and European Theater of Operations Medal.
He was an avid golfer and a member for over 50 years of The Torrington Country Club, where he was Past President, he was a past member of Greenwoods Country Club, a member of Torrington Elks Lodge, as well as Past President of New England Wholesalers. In addition he was a 50 year member of The Webster Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his daughter Marcia Scattergood and her husband John of New Hartford, and his son Mark Telford and his wife Pauline of Riverton, as well as 5 grandchildren, Carrie Gahagan and her husband Sean of Laurel MD, Rebecca Scattergood of New York City, Jed Scattergood of Osaka Japan, Matthew Telford of Manchester CT, and Erik Telford of Washington DC. He also leaves a great grandson Owen Patrick Gahagan of Laurel MD, a sister Emma Roy of Southbridge MA and a brother William Telford of Apopka FL.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday May 27 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church in Torrington.

Joseph S. Manes, 87, of Torrington Towers, Torrington
died Sunday May 23 at Haven Health Care. He was the husband of the late Phyllis (Martin) Manes. Born in Torrington April 19, 1917 he was the son of the late Louis and Rosemary (Ciesco) Manes. He served as an Army Staff Sergeant during WWII in The European Theater of Operations, serving in France and Germany.
He was a self employed barber, operating The New York Barber Shop in Torrington before his retirement.
He was a member of The Knights of Columbus and was a 3rd Degree Knight, and also belonged to The Italian American War Veterans, The VFW, AARP, and The Monfort Missionary Group, and also The Pallantine Spiritual Partnership. He was a Communicant of Saint Francis Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Denton and her husband Albert of Torrington and a son Joseph L Manes and his wife Beverly of Litchfield, and four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother Rocco Manes of Litchfield.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 9:45 from Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington to Saint Francis Church for a Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at new Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home onTuesday from 6 to 8 PM.

Dora Mae Phillips
went to be with the Lord August 18, 2005 in Torrington CT at the age of 80. She was the wife of the late Elmer "Chan" Phillips.
Born in Wheelock VT. October 14, 1924 daughter of the late Nelson and Emma Jane (Miles) Heath. She was a 48 year resident of Fish's Eddy New York and had recently lived at Valerie Manor in Torrington near her two sons.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who opened her door to many relatives and people of all ages.
She is survived by her daughter Ethel Mae Goebel and husband Donny of Walton New York and Tampa FL, and two sons, David Phillips and his wife Cyndie and Charles Phillips and his wife Laurie of Torrington CT. She also leaves nine grandchildren: Larry Goebel of Walton NY, Brian, Katelyn, and Brianna Phillips and Brandi, Anthony, and Nicole Sestito all of Torrington CT and Desirae Saro of Farmington, CT and Tyler Phillips of Uncasville CT, as well as three great grandchildren, Stephanie, Renee, and Adam Goebel of Walton NY.
Also surviving are two brothers, Dewey Shelburne of Waterford CT and Richard Shelburne of Walton NY and many loving nieces nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a grandson Donny Goebel Jr. and brother Nelson "Johnny" Heath.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday September 10, 2005 at East Branch Cemetery in East Branch NY. A gathering of friends and family will follow at East Branch Fire Hall.

Edward Schutt, 90, of 199 Wheeler Rd. Litchfield
died Wednesday Aug 17 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Bertha (Kraig) Schutt. Born in Jersey City NJ Dec. 23, 1914 he was the son of the late Edward and Ophelia (Weise) Schutt, and a long time Litchfield resident.
He was employed by Martin Hudak Co in waste management in Torrington for 40 years, and later was employed by The Torrington Company.
He was a long time member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church and was a member of The East Litchfield Volunteer Fire Department, and was active in Volunteer Fire Department Parades.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Louis (Regina) Pagano of Torrington and two sons, Edward R. Schutt of Salisbury and Karl R. Schutt of Torrington. He also leaves a brother Henry Schutt and sisters Tillie Martin and Wanda Haas all of Litlchfield and Olga Ellis of Harwinton, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother Walter Schutt and a sister Lydia Schibi.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Aug. 20 at 10:00 AM at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Mildred Cusati, formerly of Torrington Rd Litchfield
died Tuesday Aug. 16 at Litchfield Woods. She was the wife of Edward Cusati who died June 19, 2005. Born in New York City she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Amalia (Bucenec) Yurco, and was an adoring wife and loving mother.
She is survived by her son Ward Cusati and his wife Barbara of Burlington and two sisters, Anne O'Bara of Tolland and Lillian Lang of Pougheepsie NY, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday Aug 18 at 11:00 AM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Edward Cusati, 85, of Torrington Road Litchfield
died Sunday June 19 at Litchfield Woods. He was the husband of Mildred (Yurco) Cusati. Born in New York City, Nov. 21, 1919 son of the late George and Palmira (Mazzochi) Cusati, he grew up in Park Ridge NJ. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, and was retired from The Torrington Company after 33 years.
He was a member of The VFW Post in Litchfield.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his son Ward Cusati and his wife Barbara of Burlington and a sister Jennie Modarsky of Lakewood CA, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Fred, Joseph, and Romeo Cusati.

Theodore J. Boulli, 90, formerly of Circle Dr. Torrington
died Thursday May 20 in Torrington. He was the husband of 59 years of the late Julita (Molitor) Boulli. He was born in Torrington Feb. 2, 1914 son of the late Joseph Boulli and Ruth (Barnes) Boulli Allan.
He owned an operated a Milk Route and Dairy Farm prior to his managing feed stores in the area, including Big Y Feeds, Litchfield County Co-op, Worthmore Feeds, Eastern States Feeds, Agway, and Blue Seal Feeds.
He was a former member of Torrington Elks Lodge and Seneca Lodge #55.
He is survived by two sons, Ted Boulli of Boynton Beach FL and Richard Boulli and his wife Janice of Torrington, and daughters Gaye Belli and her husband Jerry of Torrington, Marie Cianciolo and her husband Neal of Vernon, and Rita Langzettel of Southington. He also leaves a sister Irene Martin of Litchfield and 4 grandchildren- Jerry Belli Jr and Kevin Belli and Richard Boulli Jr and Courtney Boulli. He was predeceased by two step sons, Floyd and Kenneth Langzettel.
Funeral Services with burial at New Saint Francis Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Phalen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Florence (Stone) Wellersdick, of Litchfield
died May 4 after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Earl L. Wellersdick. She was born in Detroit daughter of the late John B. and Emma (Phillip) Stone, and grew up in Shaker Heights Ohio and lived in Litchfield for the last 40 years.
She leaves a daughter, Susan Torrant and her husband Jonathan of Litchfield and a son, Michael Wellersdick and his wife Karen of Torrington, and a grandson Michael Jon Torrant. She also leaves a sister Mary Lou Morrison of Chester Landing OH.
