Gertrude Marie Gerardi, of 280 Hillside Ave. Torrington
died Thursday Dec. 19, 2002 after a long illness.
She was born in Torrington, daughter of the late Domenic and Vita (Crescenzia) Gerardi.
She is survived by her sister, Margarite Marino of Torrington and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Leonard, Daniel, and William Gerardi and a sister Lucy Lake.
Gert fought a valiant battle. Her generosity, spirit, and tenacity will not be forgotten. Special thanks to the Kennedy Dr Cancer Center Staff.

Albert "Bill" Bobinski, 73, of 83 Pershing St Torrington
died Monday Dec. 16, 2002 at his home. He was the husband of Daphne (Wilmot) Bobinski. Born in Torrington Nov 18, 1929 son of the late Joseph and Mary (Kobylenski) Bobinski, he served in the Army during the Korean War. He was employed by New Departure in Bristol for 37 years before his retirement 9 years ago.
He was a member of Torrington Lodge of Elks, and enjoyed his grandchildren, playing the horses and dogs, and visiting the Indians.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Barbara Jacklin and her husband Gregg of Torrington and a son Kenneth W. Bobinski and his wife Leah of Farmington, and two grandchildren Courtney and D.J. Jacklin.
He also leaves two brothers, Thomas Bobinski of Homossasa FL and John Adams of Morris.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley, Raymond, and Edward Bobinski.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday Dec 19 at 11:00 AM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington with Rev. Ellen Tillotson Pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating.
Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday Evening from 6:00 to 8:00.
Memorial Contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Margaret Rita (Gaura) Stengel 87, formerly of Torrington Towers
died Sunday Dec 15, 2002 at Haven Health Care in Torrington. She was the wife of the late Francis Arthur (Casey) Stengel. Born in Torrington June 26, 1915 daughter of the late Andrew and Emma (Witte) Gaura, she was a life long Torrington resident.
She is survived by her son Arthur Stengel of Thomaston, her granddaughter and best friend Lori Ozbat of Torrington and a brother Adolf Gaura of California, 7 other grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Pauline Marucci and Barbara " Jean" Hammond.
Private Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery.

Donald E. Keesler, 70, of 812 Torringford West St. Torrington
died Sunday March 23 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Roberta (DeMichiel) Keesler. Born in Torrington Jan 11, 1933 son of the late William and Ida (Chipman) Keesler, he was a Navy Veteran of The Korean Conflict.
He was employed by The Torrington Company for 30 years, and later worked for Federal Business Products. He was a Communicant of Calvary Baptist Church and was an artist and a singer.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by a son Donald M Keesler, Sr of Torrington and 4 grandchildren, Michelle, Justin, Donald Jr., and Dustin. He also leaves two sisters Adele Reale and Elaine Masters of Torrington and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Robert Keesler and Grant Booth.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday March 26 at 11 AM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington with Pastor Michael Ambrose of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday Evening from 6-9.

Diane Veronica Lee, 31, of 63 Norwood St. Torrington
died Sunday March 16 at her home.
Born in New Milford Aug 13 1971 daughter of Mary (Schiel) Lee of Torrington, she was a graduate of Torrington High School class of 1989.
In addition to her mother, she leaves three sons, Clifford Perry and Cory and Cody Kulesza, and a sister Angela DuBois and a brother James Aerykssen, all of Torrington. She also leaves her grandmothers, Elizabeth Schiel of Warren and Helen Krikscium of Torrington.
Burial will be held at The Warren Cemetery in the Spring. Phalen Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Burial Service Saturday May 3 at 11 AM at Warren Cemetery.

Luke F. Farrell, 73, of Bridgeport CT
died May 25 at St Vincent Hospital in Bridgeport.
He was born July 1, 1929 in Torrington son of the late Edwin J and Margaret (Brennan) Farrell.
He attended local schools and graduated from Torrington High School in 1946. he earned his Bachelors' Degree from Central Connecticut State University and a Masters' Degree from Columbia University. He was a Navy Veteran, having attended the Reserve Officer Training Center in Newport RI. Mr Farrell was commissioned a second lieutenant, and served aboard the USS Orca completing tours of The Persian Gulf, Philippines, Japan, and Hong Kong.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mathematics teacher in the Fairfield School System for 35 years. He was a life long fan and student of classical music and for many years hosted a popular radio program at WSHU in Fairfield. He was also active in The Square One Theater group in Stratford, playing roles in several productions and assisting in the production of many others.
Mr. Farrell is survived by a brother Edwin Farrell of Torrington and several cousins.
Funeral Services were private. Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington had charge of arrangements.

Memorial Service Sat. July 12 at 12 Noon at The Stratford Public Library 2203 Main St. Stratford. and members of the Square One Theater Company will participate.

James I. Beyer, 85 formerly of 11 Center St Torrington
died Sunday June 1 at Adam's House.
He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann (Greenhalgh) Beyer. Born in Torrington Oct 14, 1917 son of the late Aloysius and Mary (Schott) Beyer, he served in The US Navy during WWII in The Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was employed as a machinist for Hayden Mfg Co and later at Torin Corp. before his retirement.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Almstedt of Simsbury and three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Carol Miklos and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday June 6 at 10:30 AM at The Chapel at Hillside Cemetery.

Bernice (Kisiel) Washburn, Locascio, Cotto
of Westfield MA, formerly of Torrington died Saturday May 31, 2003 at Governors Center in Westfield MA after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Dino Cotto. Born in Chicago IL. August 28, 1920 daughter of the late John and Catherine (Walski) Kisiel.
She is survived by three daughters; Elizabeth Dangonini of Torrington; Gloria Washburn of Winsted; and Karen Mattingly of Muncie, IN. She also leaves two sisters, Josephine Pustinger of Tolland MA, and Katherin Burgess of Dallas, TX and three brothers John J. Kisiel of Goshen, Andrew Kisiel and Joseph Kisiel of East Hartford, 8 grandchildren and several gr. grandchildren. She was predeceased by an infant son and a sister Helen Filiphone and 2 brothers Edward and Raymond Kisiel.
Funeral Services will be at the convenience of the family.
A Memorial Service will be held at The First Church of Winsted Saturday June 7 at 11 AM with Rev. Ruth Maedel officiating.

Noreen Magyar 56, formerly of Wakefield Blvd Winsted
died Aug 14 at Laurel Hill Healthcare in Winsted. Born in Torrington Nov 11, 1946 daughter of the late James Sr and Louise (Fogarty) Magyar, she was employed by Lark Industries in Torrington.
She is survived by a sister, Kathleen Lenihan and three brothers, Stephen and James Magyar, Jr all of Torrington and William Magyar of Bristol. She also leaves an aunt Anna Magyar, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday Aug 18 at 10 Am at Saint Maron's Church. Burial will follow at Old St Francis Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM.

Robert Ruot, 70, of Torrington
died Aug 8, 2003 at Adam's House. Born in Torrington April 11, 1933 son of the late Jules and Arvella Ruot, he lived in Torrington all of his life, and attended local schools. He was a former employee of Inertia Dynamics in Collinsville.
He was a member of The Blanche McCarthy Senior Center in Winsted.
He was an avid train enthusiast and Torrington Historian.
He was predeceased by a step brother Marcus Lecchi.

Ralph Sabia, 72, of Torrington
died Saturday Aug. 9, 2003 at his home.
He was born in Torrington September 7, 1930 son of the late Michael and Helen (Waltos) Sabia. He was a lifelong Torrington resident. He served a tour of duty in Korea with the US Army. For 25 years, he was employed by The Torrington Company as a research engineer.
Ralph leaves his sons, Rock Sabia of California, Chris Sabia of Arizona, and Timothy "Chip" Sabia of Torrington, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Rick Sabia.
He is also survived by his former wife Marlene Sabia of Torrington and his long time companion Aisla Dove of Winsted.

Shirley (Jacobs) Raydenbow, 75, of 213 Greenridge Rd Torrington
died Wednesday Oct 29 at Valerie Manor. She was the wife of the late Roy D. Raydenbow. Born in Torrington, March 2, 1928 daughter of the late Edward and Jennie Jacobs, she was and employee of The Torrington Company for 30 years, and also had worked at Waring Co in New Hartford and Dorset Ray in Thomaston. She and her husband raised chickens and rabbits, and vegetables.
She was a member of Center Congregational Church and The Torrington Elks Lodge.
She is survived by a son Jerry Raydenbow of Torrington and granddaughter Crystal Jennersjo and her husband Dennis of Granby. She also leaves four brothers, Russell Jacobs of Fl, Marcel Jacobs of Bristol, Edward Jacobs of CA, and Michael Jacobs of Torrington and two sisters Bernice Wood of Norwalk and Esther Poniatowski of Torrington.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Nov 1 at 10 AM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington with Rev. Dr James Fung Pastor of Center Congregational Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday Evening from 6-8. Memorial Contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Christina Marie Emprino Gilbert, 85, of 240 Highfield Dr Torrington
died Sunday Oct 26 at Valerie Manor. She was the wife of the late Linus R. Gilbert. Born in New Marlborough MA Sept. 7, 1918 daughter of the late Modest and Saraphine (Jugler) Emprino, she was a longtime Northfield resident. She was a member of The Beacon Grange in Northfield.
She is survived by her son William Gilbert and his wife Susan of Torrington and a step son L. Russell Gilbert of Jupiter FL. She also leaves two grandsons, Michael and Matthew Gilbert, and two sisters, Catherine Costello of Torrington and Dell Bianchi of Canaan.

Helen Kocsis, 88, of 24 Tracy Ave. Torrington
died Friday Oct. 24 at Valerie Manor. She was the wife of the late Stephen Kocsis. Born in Torrington July 22, 1915 she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Varga) Kuchta. She was a life long Torrington resident.
She is survived by her son, Gerald S, Kocsis of Weddington NC, and a daughter Carol Vanczak of Torrington, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Mary Bonini and sister in law Agnes Magistrali of Torrington.

Ethel Quint Collins, 100, of Lakeville
died Tuesday Dec. 16 at Noble Horizons. She was the wife of the late Julius Collins. Born in New York City Oct 28, 1903 daughter of the late Abraham and Rose (Schapp) Quint, she moved to Connecticut in 1993. She was a graduate of Barnard College Class of 1925.
She is survived by two sons, Matthew Collins of Cornwall and Arnold Collins of Chicago, and three grandchildren.

Agnes Schroeder, of Goshen
died Sunday Dec 14 at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford following a long illness. She was the wife of Paul A, Schroeder. Born in Helens, Lancashire England July 7, 1923 daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Arnold) Ludden. She was employed by Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and Rumsey Hall School, as well as being a care-giver for many years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, James Schroeder of Goshen and Barry Schroeder and his wife Leslie and granddaughter Jennifer of Winston Salem NC. She also leaves two brothers Frank and Dennis Ludden of England. She was predeceased by a brother Thomas Ludden.

Susan Elizabeth Bridges, 49, of 113 Preston Rd Winchester
died Sunday Dec 14 at Valerie Manor in Torrington. Born in Presque Isle Maine Feb 8, 1954 daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Hagerman Bridges.
She is survived by a sister Mary Ann Kelmelis and her husband Patrick of Winchester, a brother John Jacob Bridges of Waterbury a niece Tara Mathieu and her husband Dan of Torrington and a nephew Lance Dopp.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wedensday Dec. 17 at 6 PM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington

Scott Wilson Hennige, 53, of Winsted
died peacefully Jan. 31 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. Born in Sacramento CA April 15, 1950 son of the late Carl W. and Jean Hennige. He was a Connecticut resident for many years, but grew up in California where he taught music and became a drummer for the country swing band ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. While with the band they were nominated for a Grammy Award in 1975 for the album TEXAS GOLD and in 1976 for the album WHEELIN AND DEALIN. He later located in Austin, Texas with the critically acclaimed group and toured throughout the country.
He had been giving private drum lessons in Winsted prior to his illness.
The family would like to thank ICU Nurses at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for their kindness as well as Virginia Urso and Al and Rita Warren for their friendship to Scott.
He is survived by a daughter Sarah Hennige of San Clemente CA and his sister Barbara Wilkinson of East Haddam CT and a niece Kate Wilkinson of NYC.

Theodore J Banas, 79, of Bannon St. Torrington
died Monday Feb. 16 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Anna (Yurtin) Banas.
Born in Torrington Oct. 30, 1924 son of the late John and Teofila (Gustowski) Banas, he attended Torrington High School and retired from Pheoll of New England after 32 years of employment. A Veteran of WWII, he served in The US Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater as a sergeant in the 3rd Marine Craft Wing.
An avid golfer, he was a former member of Canaan Golf Club and was a member of Eastwoods Country Club Post Office League. He was a communicant of Saint Mary's Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother Leon Banas of Terryville and a sister Blanche Dombi of Torrington. He was predeceased by a brother John and four sisters, Mary. Geneva, Gussie, and Steffy.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday Feb 18 at 10:30 at Saint Mary's Church. Burial will follow at Saint Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at The Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington on Wednesday from 9-10 AM.
