George Montgomery
Services were conducted yesterday (August 22, 2005) at Halcumb Cemetery for George Norman Montgomery, 63, of Hat Creek. Mr. Montgomery died August 18 at Mercy Medical Center in Redding of natural causes.
Born March 16, 1942 in Redding, he was a lifelong resident of Shasta County. He was a logger and member of the Pit River Indian Tribe.
He is survived by his wife Mary; son, Eric Mitchell, both of Hat Creek; daughter Sheila of Burney; and sisters Alvian Johnson of Coasegold, California and Marian Burrough of Friant, California.
Robert Vangen
Memorial services will be conducted at 5 p.m. August 26 at the Old Station Fire Hall for Robert E. Vangen, 70, of Old Station. Mr. Vangen died August 12, 2005 while fishing near his home.
He was born September 7, 1934 in Duluth, MN and moved to Shasta County from Redwood City in 1988.
He was a retired auto mechanic and a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Vangen is survived by daughter Linda of California and sister Lois Vangen Myran of Bloom, MN.

Ruby Bagby
Services were conducted for Ruby Pearl Bagby, 90, of Fall River Mills. Mrs. Bagby died August 14, 2005 at her residence of natural causes.
She was born May 12, 1915 in Spokane, Washington and moved to the area from Paradise, California in 1990.
She was a licensed, practical nurse for 20 years.
She is survived by son, James Weibel of Yuba City; daughter Brenda Dahle of Fall River Mills; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

David Smith
Graveside services will be conducted at the Pine Grove Cemetery in McArthur at 2 p.m. (today) Tuesday, August 16, 2005 for David Allen Smith, 25, of Bieber.
Mr. Smith died in a vehicle accident near Burney August 10.
He was born September 20, 1979 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and moved to the area in 2004 from Tampa Florida. He was a carpenterbuilder for Wilderness Construction in Burney.
He was a member of the United Bikers of Northern California “F” Troop, and Shepards Chapel in Gravett, AR.
Mr. Smith is survived by brothers Feff Sutter of Columbus, OR and Doyne Baker Jr. of Little Rock, AR; sister Raelynn Weekley of Tampa, FL; parents Beverly and Doyne Baker of Bieber and grandfather Earl Lee Routh of Johnson Park. McDonald’s Burney Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Marlin Norgaard, Jr.
Memorial services will be conducted August 17, 2005 at the Burney Veterans Hall with burial following at the Burney District Cemetery for Marlin Andrew Norgaard, Jr., 42, of Burney.
Mr. Norgaard died August 10 in a vehicle accident near Burney.
He was born July 15, 1963 in Fall River Mills and was a life resident of the area. He was a roofer for Wilderness Construction in Burney. He is survived by longtime companion Kym Ganz of Fall River Mills; daughters Tatiana Ganz of Fall River Mills and Cassie Dustin of Greenville; brothers Baron Styir of Shasta Lake City, Glenn Styir of Hat Creek and Stan Stoud of Burney; sisters Nancy Norgaard of Burney and Michelle Rechcygl of Millville and father Muggs Norgaard of Burney.

Cora Parnell
Services were conducted August 4, 2005 for former Burney resident Cora Lee Parnell, 89. Burial was at the Burney District Cemetery.
Mrs. Parnell died of natural causes July 29, 2005 at Sunbridge Care Rehabilitation for Weed, in Weed, California.
Born April 18, 1916 in Summerfield, Oklahoma, she moved to Weed from Burney. She was a homemaker and member of the Word of Life Assembly of God Church in Burney.
She is survived by sons, Dean of Montague and Gerald of Bella Vista; daughter Alice Fay Blay of Montrose, CO, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren.
Margaret Shigley
Private services will be scheduled at a later date for Margaret Pearl Chrandall Shigley, 84, of Fall River Mills and Burney. Burial will be at the Burney District Cemetery.
Mrs. Shigley died of natural causes July 30, 2005 at Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills.
She was born November 21, 1921 in Six Rivers, Oregon and moved to the area in 1964 from Healdsburg, CA. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Shigley is survived by sons Wes of Santa Rosa, Sherman of Healdsburg and Joe of Medford, Oregon; daughter, Diane Thompson of Healdsburng: brother Joe Atkinson of Healdsburg, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In memory of Jennifer Skuce
Jennifer Bubier Skuce was born on July 7, 1965 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Frankenmuth, Michigan on July 28, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. All her immediate family was at her side.
Jennifer attended Menlo Atherton High School in Atherton, California, Hollins College in Virginia, and Arizona State University. She subsequently lived in Cave Creek, Arizona where she met her true love, John Warack. They moved to his home state, Michigan, in 1995.
Jennifer loved to travel, visiting Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Central and South America, as well as most of the United States. But her true passion was animals of all kinds, and in particular horses. She was an accomplished rider as well as a breeder of Arabians and Thoroughbreds. Incongruous as it may sound, she was also an excellent rifle shot, and lifetime member of Safari Club International.
She will be remembered by family and friends for her contagious smile, infectious laugh, and inner and outer beauty. Jennifer is survived by John and their beautiful daughter, Hunter Amelia Warack, and Hunter's half sisters Jennifer and Ashley, as well as her parents, Betsy and Dave Skuce of Menlo Park and McArthur, and her sister Kendal and Brother Jake.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth.

Goldie Sinyard
Graveside services were conducted at the Burney Cemetery, August 1, for former Burney resident, Goldie Sinyard, 83, of Redding.
Mrs. Sinyard died of natural causes, July 26, 2005 at Shasta Healthcare in Redding.
Born, January 25, 1922 in Silver Creek, Oklahoma, she moved to the area in 1952 from Springfield, Oregon. She was a machine operator at Fiberboard's Plywood Division in Burney for 20 years.
She is survived by her son, Jim, of Redding; sisters, Hazel Hinkel of McMinville, Oregon, Pauline Davies of Springfield, Oregon and Dorothy Jones of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, four grand children and six great-grandchildren.
Janice Cessna
Private services will be conducted for Janice Cessna, 66, of McArthur. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Cessna died July 15, 2005 at Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills.
She was born May 18, 1939 in Redding and was a lifelong resident of Shasta County.
She was a bookkeeper for Sierra Market in Fall River Mills and a member of the Women’s Golf Club.
Survivors include husband Bill, daughter Lynn Riggins of Cottonwood; brothers Frank and Grant Brown, both of Fall River Mills and two grandchildren.
Rosalys Seiber
Services and the interment
of Rosalys Joiner Sieber's ashes will be 11 a.m., August 5, at the Adin Cemetery. Mrs. Seiber died at St. Paul Minnesota, March 20, 2005. Born in Pittville, California, she was 91.
She was a teacher who began her teaching career at Little Hot Springs in the Big Valley area in 1933. She also taught in Lookout and Eureka.
She is survived by sons Bruce of Arden Hills, MN and Bryan of Tullahoma, TN and five grandchildren.
Jon Dalton
Services for Jon Robert Dalton, 44, of Waipahu, Hawaii will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. at Kewalo Basin near Honolulu, July 27, 2005
Mr. Dalton died July 14 in Waipahu. He was a 1979 graduate of Fall River High School. Mr. Dalton is survived by his wife Cydnie; children, Frankie and Leilani; brothers Dan Mooney of Bend, Ore. And Patrick Mooney of Truckee, CA; sister Miki Mooney of Hailey, ID; and parents Robert and Mickey Dalton of Corvallis, Ore.

Carmen B. Ward
A Funeral Mass was conducted at St. Joseph Chapel in Sacramento yesterday (July 18), for Carmen B. Ward, 89, of McArthur. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sacramento.
Mrs. Ward died July 8, 2005 of natural causes at Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills. She was born April 10, 1916 in Silver City, New Mexico and moved to the area from Sacramento in 2002.
She was a butcher for a meat packing company for 35 years.
She is survived by brother Vidal Borrego of El Paso, Texas; sisters Herminia Fuentes of Sacramento, Isabel Madrigal of Fairfield, CA; Frances Perez of Rio Vista, CA and Marylou Vasquez of Santa Clarita, CA and nephews Richard Fuentes of McArthur and William Fuentes of Sacramento.
Luther Williams
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., July 17, 2005 at the Pine Grove Cemetery in McArthur for Luther Curtis Williams, 83, of McArthur. The family will officiate.
Mr. Williams died at Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills, June 29 of natural causes.
He was born December 19, 1921 in Quanah, Texas and moved to the area in 1975 from San Jose. He was a self-employed cement contractor for 50 years.
Mr. Williams is survived by wife Audie of McArthur; sons John & Greg of McArthur, and Danny of San Jose, CA; sisters, Wanda and Pat of Texas, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A potluck at the Williams residence will follow services.
Donald William "Bill" Eidson,
formerly of Day Road, died peacefully at home in Redding, June 14, 2005 with his beloved wife Genevieve "Bunny" Eidson at his side, at the age of 81.
They moved to Redding, from their home on Day Road a few years ago.
Bill was born June 5, 1924 in Walnut Park, CA to parents Theodore and Ilean Eidson, who preceded him in death. Bill's sister Kathrine Lloyd also preceded him in death.
Bill was previously married to Aleen Crandell until her death on May 30, 1984.
He and Aleen had two sons, Alan and Michael Eidson. Allen and his wife Patty, granddaughter Jennefer Eidson and greatgrandchildren Abby, Conner and Richard, all reside in Auburn, CA. Michael lives in Oakland, CA and Bill's niece Carolyn Horowitz and her family in West Covina, CA.
Bill and Bunny met at a Day Road function and were married October 19, 1992. Four stepsons survive Bill. Steve Jacobson and his family, from Newport Beach, CA, Dan and Peggy Jacobson with their sons Travis and Cody from Day Road, Fred and Bobbi Jacobson and their family from Fall River Mills and David Jacobson from Waldport, OR.
Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was aboard the U.S.S. Little when it sank at Guadalcanal. He survived the attack and was rescued after spending 6-hours in the ocean. He truly was one of "America’s Greatest Generation."
Bill moved to the community of Day after he retired from Sylvania as an electrical engineer. He had been an avid fisherman and loved to square dance in his younger years. He had been a tireless volunteer with the McArthur Fire Department, while living on Day Road.
His generosity to his family and to the Day community will be fondly remembered and will be dearly missed by his loving family.
A graveside memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 at the Pine Grove Cemetery in McArthur, CA
Nickie Anderson
Services were conducted for Nickie Blanche Anderson, age 87, of McArthur, Friday, June 24 at McDonald's Burney Chapel. Reverend Gene Gruell of Faith Lutheran officiated.
Mrs. Anderson died June 18, 2005 in her residence of natural causes.
She was born September 3, 1917 in San Francisco, CA and moved to Shasta County in 1990 from San Francisco, CA.
She was a mail sorter for the US Postal Service. She is survived by her
sons Jimmy and Arthur Jr. of McArthur, John of Cool, CA; daughter Barbara Anderson of Portland, OR; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
