Clora "Cal" Hart
A celebration of Life will be conducted July 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Burney Veterans Hall for Clora Jane "Cal" Hart, age 89, of Burney. The Crater Lake Detachment of Marine Corp League and the Burney Veterans Combined Honor Guard, VFW 5689, VFW 1021 and American Legion 441 will officiate. A pot luck will follow the service.
Miss Hart died June 15, 2005 at her sister's residence in Pioneer, CA of natural causes. She was born May 23, 1916 in Ukiah, CA. She moved to Shasta County in 1980 from Los Gatos, CA.
She was an accountant and a member of VFW Post 5689, WWII Veteran of the US Marine Corps, member of Crater Lake Detachment of Marine Corp League, American Legion 441, Mayers Memorial Hospital Guild, and the Women's International Bowling Congress. She is survived by her sister Barbara Mims of Pioneer, CA.
Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Community Center "Toys for Tots."
Arrangements are being handled by McDonald's Burney Chapel.
Richard Wright
A Masonic service will be conducted for Richard Ezekial Wright, 94, of Fall River Mills at the Fort Crook Masonic Lodge in Fall River Mills, at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25. Burial will follow at the Fall River Mills Cemetery.
There will be a potluck at Ingram Hall at the fairgrounds following services. Mr. Wright died June 15, 2005 following a short illness. He was born March 17, 1911 in Gage Okalahoma and moved to the area from Gage in 1937.
He was a Mobil Oil Distributor for 30 years. He was a member of the Fort Crook Lodge F&AM, Fort Crook Historical Society, Gallery and Gifts, a past member of the Fall River Mills Volunteer FireDepartment and Fall River Lions Club. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Gronwoldt of Redding, eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

B/GEN. JACK LaGRANGE, JR. (USAF-Ret.)
General Jack LaGrange, Jr., died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Reno on Sunday, June 5, 2005. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by love with his wife and children at his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack LaGrange, Sr., his mother, Mary Eliza Holloway LaGrange, his brother, William LaGrange, and his sister, Edwina LaGrange Cobb.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Lori, his son, Michael LaGrange, his daughters, Holly Schneider (Merlin), Liza Chapen (Larry), and Leah Beth Davis; his grandsons, Michael Jack Thompson, Todd Maxwell Thompson, and Tobin Jon Schneider; and his great-grandsons, Levy Cody Thompson, Rowan Maxwell Thompson and Henry Heath Thompson.
In his youth, the General was known as "Jacky" in his hometown of Apache, Oklahoma, where he was born on November 10, 1919. After graduating from Apache High School, he attended Cameron State College in Lawton, Oklahoma on a boxing scholarship. He represented Cameron State at the Golden Gloves, at a hefty 126 pounds. Jack also represented Oklahoma in the AAU Boxing Tournament at Treasure Island San Francisco in 1939.
"General Jack", as he was called, proudly served his country for 39 years, retiring in November of 1979. During World War II, he flew 51 missions in his P-47, dubbed "Fast Action Jackson". On his 52nd mission his plane went down, he was captured, and spent nine months as a POW in Germany.
Jack was an active early member of the Nevada Air National Guard, playing a significant role in initiating its original development. At the age of 36 he became the youngest Brigadier General in the United States Air Force. In 1955, he was appointed as the Asst. Adj. General of the State of Nevada and in 1970 became the Air Commander of the Nevada ANG until retirement. In 1979, he was a co-founder of a national organization called the Former Air Commanders United, which is still active.
After the war, and receiving a Bachelor's degree in Mortuary Science from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science in Dec. of 1946, Jack became the proprietor of LaGrange Mortuary in Carson City, Nevada, which he operated for 10 years. He was a volunteer fireman in Carson City (Warren Engine Co. #1), a member
of VFW, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Kerak Shrine Temple, Royal Order of Jesters (Reno Court #33), and Order of the Eastern Star (Esther Chapter #3).
During retirement, Jack and Lori enjoyed golf at their summer residence in Graeagle, CA for 17 years, and spent time traveling in their motorhome. In 1988, they moved to a golf course home in Fall River Mills, CA and resided there for 16 years, enjoying traveling and golf. While there, "Ol' Bad Jack" (a term of endearment by his friends) was an active member of the Fall River Men's Golf Club, the
Redding Elks Lodge and the Fall River Lions Club. Due to Jack's declining health, Jack and Lori moved back to Reno in August 2004 to be near their family, long-time friends, and better medical facilities.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Monday, June 13th, 11:00 a.m. at Walton's Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd St. in Reno, with Msgr. Leo E. McFadden officiating.

Lloyd Lung
Private family services will be held at a later date for Lloyd Hamilton Lung, 77, of McArthur. Mr. Lung died June 3, 2005 of natural causes at Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills.
He was born February 6, 1928 in McCloud and moved to the area in 1966 from McCloud.
He was a U.S. Forest Service Range and Wildife specialist for 30 years, a member of the Mount Shasta Masonic Lodge #297 and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II.
Mr. Lung is survived by his wife Eunice; son Allen D. of Elk Grove; daughter Gail McIntosh of Fernley, NV, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to the Intermountain Hospice, P.O. Box 459, Fall River Mills, CA.
Delories Harris
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m., June 15 for Delories Marie Harris, 79, of Burney. The Reverend Buck Buchanan of the Intermountain Evangelical Free Church will officiate. The service will be at the Burney District Cemetery on Mountain View Road.
Mrs. Harris died of Natural Causes in Sandpoint, ID, April 24, 2005. She was born February 11, 1926 in Anthony, KS and moved to the area in 1946 from Borger, TX. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by sons, Jerry of Naples, ID, Howard of Burney, Johnny Bosserman of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren and nine

Opal Faye McBride Callaham
Born January 1, 1921 at Cabool, Missouri, she was a twin to her brother Ora Ray McBride. The McBrides had 13 children. Opal’s younger brother Paul survives in Missouri. Opal married Jonas Albert Callaham on June 22, 1940 in Weiser, Idaho. Opal and Jo have five children; Linda and Chuck Turner of Burney; Bobbi Graham, Medford, Oregon, Sandy and Buzz Brown, Burney, Jim and Teresa Callaham, McArthur, and Mike and Susie Callaham, Fort Meyer Beach, Florida.
Opal loved to visit and laugh with her family and friends. She was a great adventurer. The twinkle in her eye brought joy to all. Her passion in life was her family. She had a large and expanded family and when they all gathered they had to rent the legion hall. Opal loved people and the love she gave was returned by all.
Opal was a homemaker and mom first. She did find time for a career outside of her home and retired from Bank of America in 1983. Preceding her in death was her precious grandson Arthur Leroy Brown III and her beloved Joe in 1993.
Opal is survived by her children, 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She entered heaven from Ashland, Oregon with a smile and a jig in her step on June 2, 2005. Memorial services will
be Friday, June 10, 2005, 1 p.m., Eternal Hills Cemetery, Klamath Falls, Oregon. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the local Aszhemier’s Association.
Robert Johnson
Services for Robert Gene Johnson, 60, of Burney were conducted in the Burney Veterans Hall. Family and friends and the Combined Burney Veterans' Honor Guard will officiate.
Mr. Johnson died of natural causes at his residence May 16, 2005.
He was born August 14, 1944 in Placerville, CA and moved to the area in 1960 from Rio Linda, CA. He was a logger and U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.
Mr. Johnson is survived by son James of Redding; daughters Deanna Lynn and Audrey of Burney; brother John of McCloud; sister Barbara Paolinetti of McCloud and four grandchildren.

Harold Wark
Services for Harold Dean Wark, 77, of Burney will be scheduled for a later date. Mr. Wark died at his residence of natural causes, May 26, 2005.
He was born April 15, 1928 in Rexford, Kansas and moved to the area in 1996 from Oakdale, CA.
He was a self-employed jeweler, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and Korea.
He is survived by his wife Margaret; sons Glenn of Port Townsend, WA, Mark of Lake Stevens, WA and Dale of Gig Harbor, WA; brother Howard of Grandberry, TX; sisters Frances Frame of Statele and Patricia McGregor of Howard, CO; seven grand children and one great grandchild.

David Herbert Tretten
David Herbert Tretten passed away October 7, 2004 in Medford, Oregon. David was born March 26, 1954 to Marilyn Tretten Ketman Earnest and the late Herbert Tretten. He grew up in Fall River Mills and graduated from Fall River High School in 1972. He moved to the Pacific Northwest where he worked as a care giver.
He is survived by his three sisters, Diane Dujmovich of Lincoln, CA, Gail Rauch of Placerville, CA and Janice Kennemore of Lacey, WA; three sons, Mathew, Luke and Zack, six nieces and one nephew. A memorial service will be held at the Fall River Cemetery Saturday, June 4 at 11 a.m.
Dorothy (Nash) Brittain
Services were conducted April 29 at the Sacramento Memorial Lawn in Sacramento for Dorothy Faye (Nash) Brittain of Sacramento. Mrs. Britton died April 24, 2005 in Sacramento.
She was born November 26, 1922 in Adin and moved to Sacramento in 1955. She worked for the California Almond Exchange for 30 years. She is survived by sons, Fredrick Smith of Citrus Heights, Bradley Smith of Grass Valley and Kenneth Smith of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Leta Konvalin of Sacramento and Gertrude Neptune of Mt. Shasta; two brothers, Gene Nash of Redding and Earl Nash of Greenfield, MO; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Nancy Cooper No services were planned for Nancy E. Cooper, 64, of
Burney. Mrs. Cooper died at Mercy Medical Center in Redding April 21, 2005. She was born October 29, 1940 in Chico and moved to Shasta County since she was a baby. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Cooper is survived by sons Tony and John Gamio, both of Shasta Lake, Gean Gamio of Vacaville; daughter Cindy Cusick of Burney; brother John Jones of Idaho, sister Joann Greenwood of Chico; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
David Similo
No services will be held for David Similo, 36, of Burney who died April 23, 2005 at his residence. He was born January 17, 1969, in Denver, CO, and moved to the county in 1984. He was a self employed maintenance worker. He is survived by his mother Nancy and step father Leo Hollingsworth, both of Redding. Frances Gomez Services will be conducted at a later date for Frances Caroline Gomez, 91, of the Fall River Valley. She died at home June 25, 2004. She was born February 8, 1913 in Dixon, CA and moved to the area in 1947. She was a homemaker, girl scout leader and registrar for the Republican Party. She is survived by son Juan and daughter Donna L. Spencer, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
