Robert J. Wurst
Robert J. Wurst, 66, of Stratham, NH, died suddenly on Saturday, December 24, 2005 at his son’s home in Thorndale, PA. His family was gathered there to celebrate Christmas. He was the beloved husband of 36 years to Ann (Wiseley) Wurst.
Born and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia Bob displayed his characteristic optimism, good cheer, and generosity in a neighborhood known to be tough and gritty.
In his youth, he loved to play basketball and played at the varsity level for Mastbaum High School from where he graduated in 1957. His passion for the game continued throughout his life. Watching his granddaughter Jessica’s basketball games was especially enjoyable for him.
Mr. Wurst was an electrical designer. He started his career at the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard and later went on to United Engineers, Catalytic Inc., and J.J. Henry Inc. His work took him to many parts of the country outside of the Philadelphia area and included Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi and California. Bob became a respected member of his profession. However in 1993, due to a heart condition he was no longer able to work.
It was during this stressful time in his life that Bob became to truly appreciate the motto: “Live, Love, and Laugh.”

He loved to spend time with his family fishing, going to NFL games, playing basketball, or just hanging out at home watching movies, telling funny stories and laughing.
Mr. Wurst was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and was active in the Marriage Encounter and Pre-Cana programs of the Catholic Church. He also was a Eucharistic Minister.
Bob’s most extraordinary legacy will be the incredible love he had for his soul-mate and wife, Ann. No matter whom he met or where he was he would never fail to mention at least once if not a dozen times how lucky he was to be living the greatest love affair of all times with his wife Ann. He loved her as much as any man could love a woman. What a lucky man he was!
