Erma A. Halterman

Erma A. Halterman, age 85, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004, at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln, Missouri, where she had been a resident for the past four years. She was born on January 9, 1919 at Brookfield, Missouri.
She grew up in Brookfield and moved to Kansas City where she made her home. She was employed as a seamstress for the International Ladies Garment Union for 23 years, retiring in 1981. Following retirement she moved to Warsaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Halterman, one son, Gerald Fields and three sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Herbert Halterman and his wife, Shirley, of Warsaw and Lloyd Halterman and his wife, Judy, of Buckner, Missouri, 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Cremation. A memorial services for family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lincoln Community Nursing Home. Arrangements by the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Dorothy Blair

Dorothy M. Blair, age 85, of Warsaw, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, Missouri. She was born on December 12, 1918, in St. Louis, Missouri, the only child of Ernest L. and Myrtle Belle Land Schroeder.
She graduated from high school in St. Louis and attended St. Louis Business College.
On December 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Dr. Kendall P. Blair at Olathe, Kansas. Following their marriage, they made their home in Kansas City, Kansas where she was a Doctor’s Assistant for her husband’s medical practice. In 1962 they moved to Warsaw and continued the medical practice until 1985.
Dorothy was a member of the Unity Church and had attended the Warsaw First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kendall, on February 9, 1987.
She is survived by one son, Skip Blair, of Daytona, Florida, one daughter, Sandy Knowle, of Blue Springs, Missouri, three grandchildren, Jim and Mike Knowles and Tanya Wang and five great-grandchildren, Shelly, Clelsea, Samantha, Morgan and Janie Grace, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Dorothy M. Blair will be at 2:30 P.M., Friday, April 23, 2004, at the Reser Funeral Home with Dr. Diana Loomis officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 Friday at the funeral home. Cremation to follow with interment

Frances Wine Ellis

Frances Wine Ellis, 89, formerly of Kansas City, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2004, in Warsaw, MO. Mrs. Ellis’ life will be celebrated with a
Memorial Service at 11:00 am on May 8th at the First Methodist Church, 154 Washington Street in Warsaw, Missouri. Grave side services will be held on May 6th at 2:00 pm at the Springfield, Missouri, National Cemetery where she will be interred alongside her husband of 40 years. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the First Methodist Church of Warsaw or Benton County Hospice.
Frances Ellis was born on May 22, 1914, in Brookfield, MO. She worked as a photography technician for Kodak in Chicago, Illinois prior to marrying Frank Ellis, Jr. in the summer of 1950. Frank was a survivor of Pear Harbor, having been stationed there with the Marine Corps. at the time of the attack. The Ellis’ lived in the Raytown area for many years while Frank worked for Armco Steel. They loved to travel and were actively involved with the Shriners and the American Legion. Mrs. Ellis was best known for her cooking and baking abilities and she spent many hours sewing detailed doll clothes for her many nieces. She loved crossword puzzles and was very well read.
Her husband, Frank Ellis Jr., parents Clara and Ivan Wine, and her brothers Bob and Bernard Wine preceded her in death. Her beloved sister, Harriet, her brother, John, and many nieces and nephews survive her. The family would like to thank the staff of Warsaw Health & Rehab Center and Benton County Hospice for their special care and attention. Frances Ellis was a warm and gracious lady and will be missed by many.
Theron L. Pratt

Theron Lee Pratt, age 69, of Warsaw, passed away Sunday morning, April 18, 2004, at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. He was born on October 24, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Charles L. and Ruth A. Stiles Pratt.
He served his country in the United States Navy Seabees from December of 1952 to October of 1956. After his discharge, he returned to Kansas City. He became a fire fighter with the Kansas City Fire Department in October of 1963 and retired from them in October of 1988. After retirement he moved to his home near Warsaw.
He was a life member of the VFW and American Legion Post #217 of Warsaw. He was also a member of Local #42 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard E. Pratt.
Theron is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home, three sons, James Pratt, and his wife Sue, of Jefferson City, Missouri, Robert Pratt, of Sugar Creek, Missouri, Mike Pratt, and his wife Dawn, of Blue Springs, Missouri, one daughter, Regina Edgington, of Raytown, Missouri, twenty-three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two step-sons, Richard Richardson, and his wife Tammy, of Kansas City, and Ricky Richardson, of Raytown, a step-daughter, Sherry Falke, and her husband Robert, of Kansas City, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Theron Pratt will be held Thursday, April 22, 2004, at 11:00 A.M., at the First Bible Baptist Church of Blue Springs, Missouri, with Pastor Rick Johnson, Officiating. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to the American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
Charles Sutton, Sr.

Charles Sutton, Sr., age 59, of Warsaw, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2004, at his home in Bent Tree Harbor near Warsaw. He was born on June 29, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Joe and Helen Kruse Sutton.
He grew up in Kansas City and on May 31, 1963, was married to Barbara Stumph at Independence. They made their home in North Kansas City and enjoyed their lake home near Warsaw on the weekends. In 1992, they moved permanently to their home in Bent Tree Harbor near Warsaw.
He worked as a truck driver for North Kansas City Hauling for 20 years and also drove a dump truck.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Louis Sutton.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home, two sons, Charles Sutton, Jr., and Joe Sutton, both of Warsaw, one daughter, Marie Sutton, also of Warsaw, three grandchildren, Charles Sutton, III, Desiree and Destiny East, one brother and five sisters, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Charles Sutton Sr., will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at the Reser Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Hix officiating. Burial will be in the Shawnee Cemetery. Lorietta L. Guier Davisson

Lorietta L. Guier Davisson, age 76, of Cross Timbers, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born on March 11, 1928, in Hickory County, Missouri, one of four children born to Clint R. and Stella Anderson Smith.
She grew up in Hickory County and graduated from Cross Timbers High School.
On January 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Flavel M. Guier at Republic, Missouri. They made their home on a farm in Cross Timbers, Missouri for six years and unto this union, one son, Reginald James, was born. They later purchased a home in Kansas City, Missouri, and shared their residence between Kansas City and Cross Timbers for many years.
Lorietta attended Research Medical Center School of Nursing and graduated as a LPN in the mid 1970's. She worked for 17 years as a LPN in the Postpartum Maternity Ward at Research Medical Center and enjoyed caring for many infants and well as their new mothers.
Her husband, Flavel, passed away on June 5, 1987.
In 1989, she took up permanent residence at her home in Cross Timbers. On February 2, 1992, she was united in marriage to Boyd Davisson at her home in Cross Timbers.
She was a member of the Cross Timbers Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and also one sister, Elaine Smith.
Surviving is her husband, Boyd, of the home, one son, Reginald James Guier, and his wife, Maureen, of Largo, Florida, two step-sons, Sam Davisson of Sedalia and Dave Davisson of Miller, Missouri, 5 grandchildren and two brothers, Olen C. “Jack” Smith of Cross Timbers and Sammie J. “Joedy” Smith of St. Louis, Missouri, other relatives and a host of many friends.
Funeral services for Lorietta Guier Davisson will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 19, 2004 at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. Jackie Davis officiating. Freida A. York
April 11th, 2004
Freida A. York, age 82, passed away Sunday April 11, 2004, at the Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation Ceneter. She was born on November 7, 1921, in Putnam County, Indiana, the daughter of Willie and Elsie Grahm Lydick.
On September 15, 1940, she was united in marriage to Raymond C. York. Unto this union, three children were born. She was a devoted and loving housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cared for an invalid daughter for thirty-eight years as her own health permitted. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was an avid fan of NASCAR and Jeff Gordon, the NBA and the Indiana Pacers, and the Kansas City Royals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Marion, Maynard and Roy Lydick, a sister, Eula Lydick, a daughter Deborah Lynn York, and a great grandson, Zachary Olson.
She is survived by her husband Raymond, of the home, one son Melvin York, and his wife Beverly, of Blue Springs, Missouri, one daughter, Barbara Johnson, of Warsaw, one brother Willard Lydick, and his wife Madge,of Coatesville, Indiana, six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Grave side services and Interment
for Freida A. York, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw, with Bill Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Freida’s memory be made to Benton County Hospice or the Warsaw Senior Center Building Fund in care of the Reser Funeral Home.
William T. Mahan

William T. Mahan, age 88, of Warsaw, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2004, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. He was born on October 2, 1914, in Rosedale, Kansas, the son of William Henry and Mattie Le’Row Mahan.
He made his home in Kansas and on May 16, 1942, he was married to Muriel Erickson. ON October 26, 1942, he was inducted into the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was honorably discharged on February 14, 1946. He made his home in Kansas City, Kansas where he was employed as a shipping clerk for H.D. Lee, retiring after 35 years. In 1977, they moved to Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Mahan, on December 17, 1999.
He is survived by one son, Wm. Theodore Mahan of Topeka, Kansas 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cremation. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw, with Rev. Richard Anthony officiating. Arrangements by the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Lonnie "Gene" Reaves

Lonnie “Gene” Reaves, age 52, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, April 9, 2004, at his home in Sedalia. He was born on November 22, 1951, at Warsaw, the son of Leo and Ila Kirby Reaves.
He grew up in Benton and Pettis counties and in the late 1970's was married to Luanne Bentzen. Unto this union, one son, Donnie Lee, was born.
He had made his home in Sedalia where he worked as a maintenance man for the City of Otterville. He later worked for ABM Die Cast Company in Sedalia.
At an early age he professed his faith in Christ and had been saved.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Reaves, on July 7, 1985, two sisters, Debra Marie Reaves and Linda McGinnis and one brother, Junior McGinnis.
Surviving is a son, Donnie Reaves of Otterville, a step-son, Monte McGinnis of California, and four grandchildren. Also surviving is his mother, Ila Reaves of Sedalia, three brothers, Charles McGinnis, Ronnie Reaves and Teddy Reaves, all of Sedalia, one sister, Charlotte Paxton, of Sedalia, other relatives and friends.
Grave Side Services for Lonnie “Gene” Reaves will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 12, 2004, at Concord Cemetery near Fristoe, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., Monday at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw. Body will lie in state at the Reser Funeral Home after 8:00 A.M., Monday.
Larry D. Stevens

Larry Steven, age 65, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 8, 2004, at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln, Missouri, which has been his home for the past two & one/half years. Although he lost his life to Alzheimer’s several years ago, he passed away in the arms of his devoted wife, Vicki, and is now, finally, at peace. He leaves behind his wife, Vicki, of the home, four daughters, Linda Schaper, and her husband, Marty, of Chesterfield, Missouri, Barbara Payne, of Columbia, Missouri, Sandra Kempf, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Korena Sundek, and her husband, Bob, of Maryville, Missouri, and one son, Mark Stevens, and his wife, Darla, of O’Fallon, Missouri, eleven grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Loni Stevens, the mother of Larry’s children, passed away Monday, April 5, in Chesterfield, Missouri, with their children present, after a two month illness.
Larry & Vicki were married August 9, 1969, and moved to Warsaw, inm 1984, making their home in Pom O Sa, and had a wonderful life until Alzheimer’s disease showed in 1990. It was a long process, but the disease finally took Larry in April of 2001, and it became necessary to place him in a nursing home. All of the employees of Lincoln Nursing Home took care of him with loving care at all times, even when he became a handful. They became family to him and his wife because of their kindness and devotion. It was especially felt in the last week of his life.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Sam Hinkle officiating. Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery near Warsaw. Pallbearers are his caring friends, Tom Blair, Tony Blair, Bob Courtney, Hollis Cox, Tom Novak, and Bobbie Reaves. They helped carry him through Alzheimer’s, so it’s appropriate that they carry him to his final resting place.
Larry has been missed for several years and we thank God he is finally at peace.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday evening, April 12, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-Missouri Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
Joy J. Marshall

Joy Jaunice Marshall, age 73, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Katie Boise, in Warsaw. She was born on March 19, 1931, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, the daughter of Virgil Leo and Willie Loyce Tilley Gremore.
She grew up in Oklahoma and on November 15, 1948, she was married to Donald J. Marshall in Arkansas. Following their marriage, they made their home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Her husband worked in the oilfield industry and as an oilfield family they moved often and had made their home in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas and then overseas in Saudi Arabia and South America. In 1966, they settled in Lafayette, Louisiana. Joy had worked as a beautician and also was manager of Hertz Car Rental. In 2001, she moved to Warsaw and managed the Rivers End Motel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Marshall on December 2, 1989.
Surviving are three daughters, Donna Tacy, and her husband, Jim, of Palestine, Texas, Katie Boise, and her husband, John, of Warsaw, Missouri and Susie Mouton, and her husband, Keith, of Lafayette, Louisiana, 9 grandchildren, David Sarkies, Stephen Sarkies, Ashlie Kay, Cristian Boise, Branden Boise, Jamie Mouton, Joy Lynn Mouton, Jenna Mouton and Jessica Mouton, 8 great-grandchildren, Britany, Tiffany and Troy Sarkies, Mara Kay, Gage and Mason Boise, Lindsay Mouton and Zachary Steward. Also surviving is one brother, Virgil Dwayne Gremore, and his wife, Linda, and one sister, Johnnie Mae Warner, and her husband, Leon, all of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Joy J. Marshall will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 9, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw with Dr. Diana Loomis officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to services at the church. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 12, 2004 at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette, Louisiana. Darren D. Stebbins

Darren D. Stebbins, age 33, passed away Friday, March 26, 2004, at his home in Warsaw, Missouri. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on July 10, 1970, the son of Daryl Dean and Diana Lynn Webb Stebbins.
He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, and graduated from high school there. On September 13, 1997, he was united in marriage to Teresa Anne Harris in Kansas City, Kansas. They made their home there until moving to Warsaw in 1998. Unto this union two children were born.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa, one son, Matthew, age five, and one daughter, Allyson, age four, his mother, Diana Lynn Bary, of Warsaw, his father, Daryl Stebbins, of Kansas City, Kansas, two brothers, Doug Stebbins, of Warsaw, and Duncan Stebbins, of Kansas City, Kansas, one sister, Denelle Williams, of Sedalia, Missouri, his maternal grandmother, Velma Webb, of Kansas City, Kansas, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 1201 Dogwood, in Warsaw. Cremation. A memorial fund has been established for the family at the Farmers Bank of Lincoln.
George W. Coleman

George W. Coleman, age 40, formerly of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Thursday evening, Marcy 25, 2004, at the Osage Beach Health Care Center in Osage Beach, Missouri. He was born in Benton County, Missouri, on November 23, 1963, the son of George and Elvadine Rose Coleman.
George’s mother passed away in 1970 when he was only eight years old, and his father died in 1974. He had been a resident at the Miller County Group Hope Home in Rolla, Missouri, from 1991 until 2002 and has been a resident at the Osage Beach Nursing Home since then.
He loved music and dancing and shared a passion for all sports, especially basketball, with his brothers, Henry and James.
George is survived by two brothers, James, and his wife, Peggy, of Warsaw, Missouri, and Henry, of Osage Beach, Missouri, and one sister, Nadine Dillon, of Greenridge, Missouri, several cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Grave Side Funeral Services and burial will be held at 11:00 PM. Thursday morning, at the Fredonia Cemetery near Warsaw.
George C. McGonagle, Jr.
March 24th, 2004
George C. McGonagle, Jr., age 84, of Warsaw, formerly of Paola, Kansas, passed away March 24, 2004 at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln, Missouri. He was born in Joplin, Missouri on November 1, 1919, the son of George C. And Ollie Lewis McGonagle.
On April 12, 1940, he was united in marriage to Frances Dowty in Pittsburg, Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1970. Unto this union three children were born. On May 23, 1971 he was united in marriage to Madelyn Morris, in Hillsdale, Kansas. George was employed as a police officer for the City of Paola for thirty years, until retiring in 1984. In 1985 they moved to Warsaw, were George spent much of his retirement as a local handyman and community taxi for his neighbors and friends.
George served in World War II in the Pacific theater with the 4th Marine Division. He landed in Iwo Jima, Japan on February 19, 1945 and was wounded in action in Iwo Jima on February 26, 1945, where he recieved the Purple Heart. He was an accomplished rifleman. He was discharged on October 6, 1945.
George was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2673 in Paola, the Disabled American Veterans #34 of Johnson County, Kansas, The Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post #3712 of Paola and the American Legion Post of Paola.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Frances.
He is survived by his wife, Madelyn of the home, three children, Robert McGonagle, of Carthage, Missouri, Sharon Hopper, of Carthage, Missouri and Carol Cooper, of Mound City, Kansas, one sister, Lenora Fruit, of Spring Hill, Kansas, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation for George McGonagle, Jr., will be held, Sunday, March 28, 2004, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., at the Reser Funeral Home, in Warsaw, with Graveside services to be held on Monday, March 29, 2004 at 1:00 P.M., at the Paola Cemetery in Paola, Kansas. Joan M. Davis

Joan M. Davis, age 74, of Warsaw, passed away Tuesday evening, March 16, 2004, at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past several months. She was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, on October 29, 1929, the daughter of John and Lucille Parr.
She was in the Navy when she met and married Harry Davis on July 26, 1952, in Yuma, Arizona.
She was a member and past president of American Legion Post #217 Auxiliary, past president and member of Ladies of the Warsaw Shrine Club, an ARARAT Shrine Lady, ARARAT Legion of Honor Lady and a life associate member of the Patrol Craft Sailors Association of America.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Olsen, Janice Schuoler, of The Woodlands, Texas, and Darlys Ann, of Florida.
She is survived by her husband of almost 52 years, Harry, of the home, one daughter, Sandra Simons, and her husband Mike, of Warsaw, three granddaughters, Colleen, Brenna and Allison Kelly, two great grandsons, Austin and Mathew, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She is not gone, she is just away, to a place where we all wish to go someday. A place without suffering, without pain, a place where only laughter, joy and happiness reign. God willing, I will be with you again someday my darling wife, your ever loving husband, Harry.

Larry D. Hart

Larry D. Hart, age 62, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 16, 2004, at his home near Warsaw, Missouri. He was born at Pine Island, Minnesota, on July 22, 1941, the son of Burdette O. and Leora Belle Crouch Hart.
He attended high school in Burlington, Iowa, and graduated from high school in Mesa, Arizona, in 1959. On November 28, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Kay Wampler in Tempe, Arizona. They made their home in Tempe for about one year and then moved to Mesa where he was employed at the Salt River Project Dam & Reservoir.
From there he went to Ft. Peck, Montana, and began working for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. In 1980 they moved to the Warsaw area where he became the Operations Foreman at the Harry S Truman Power Plant. He retired on January 3, 2003.
Larry is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home, four children, Tammy Hart, of Duluth, Georgia, Larry Todd Hart & his wife, Pam, of Jefferson City, Missouri, Michael Hart & his wife, Kathy, of Grain Valley, Missouri, and Bobby Hart & his wife, Heather, of Owasso, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren, one brother, David B. Hart, of Carlsbad, California, three sisters, Chere Cheney, of Camdenton, Missouri, Nancy Baldenegro, of Chandler, Arizona, and Sue Bailey, of Showlow, Arizona, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Warsaw with Dr. Larry Nail officiating. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Lloyd I. Hopkins

Lloyd I. Hopkins, age 67, of Warsaw, passed away suddenly, Saturday, March 13, 2004, at the Bothwell Regional Health Care Center in Sedalia. He was born on March 24, 1936, near Fairfield, Missouri, the son of William and Gladys Wolfe Hopkins.
Lloyd grew up in the Fairfield and Warsaw communities and graduated from Warsaw High School with the class of 1955.
He served in the United States Army and was stationed overseas in Germany. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Warsaw and was employed for several years at the Warsaw Lumber Yard.
On June 7, 1962, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Yount at the home of Rev. Guy Jones, Sr., near Edwards, Missouri. Following their marriage, they made their home in Warsaw.
He worked at Bishop’s Gunstock Factory and later at Fajen’s as a carver and gun stock fitter, retiring in 1998. Lloyd loved people and helping his fellow man, he spent many enjoyable hours fishing and hunting in the Ozarks.
He was a member of the New Home Baptist Church near Warsaw.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Genny, on June 13, 1994, and an infant son, Gary Lloyd Hopkins.
He is survived by a twin brother, Floyd Hopkins and another brother, Melvin Hopkins, both of Warsaw, a sister, Shirley Stull, also of Warsaw, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Lloyd I. Hopkins will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at the Reser Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Nail officiating. Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery near Warsaw. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 P.M., Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the New Home Cemetery in care of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Chase Johns
March 12th, 2004
Charles “Chase” James Johns was born December 7, 1999 in San Diego, CA. He lived in Temecula, CA until his death March 12, 2004. Chase was a lively boy who was full of love, mischief, and a kind heart. He was taken from us too quickly but left us with so many memories.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Olen C. Johns of Edwards, MO; and a cousin Everett Crow of Pomona, MO. He is survived by his parents, David and Tawnya Johns of Temecula, CA; a sister Aaryn Johns; a paternal grandmother Ilene Johns of Edwards, MO; maternal grandparents James and Juanita Walker of West Plains, MO; paternal uncle Ronald and Wanda Johns of Great Lakes, IL; paternal aunt Jeanetta Lewis of Grandview, MO; maternal uncle Kyle and Erica Walker of West Plains MO; and maternal uncle Kevin Walker and fiancé Lacy Brown of West Plains, MO; three great-grandmothers; one great-grandfather; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Parents have asked that in lieu of flowers gifts be given to the Loma Linda University School of Nursing as a form of thanks for the excellent care and love that was shown to Chase and family during his stay at the Children’s Hospital. Services will be held Monday March 22, 2004 at Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, MO at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in the Bethel Campground Cemetery, near Edwards. Pallbearers will be Donnie Davis, Ronald Johns, Kyle Walker and Kevin Walker.
Rosemary Barb

Rosemary Barb, age 72, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004, at the Bothwell Regional Health Care Center in Sedalia. She was born on December 28, 1931, in Benton County, Missouri, the second of four daughters born to Clyde and Gertrude Yeager Bybee.
She grew up near Warsaw and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1949. On July 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to John L. Barb at Harrison, Arkansas. They made their home in Warsaw where they raised their family of one son, Steve and daughter, Leah.
Rosemary was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and a past member of the Pitch Club and Mother’s Club. However, her greatest attribute was being a “stay at home Mom”, who enjoyed her family and the special times they shared.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John, of the home, one son, Steve Barb, of Sedalia, and one daughter, Leah Clarke, and her husband, Brad, of Lee’s Summit, two grandchildren, Landon Meyer and Ashley Barb, two step-grandchildren, Leslie Crowder, and her husband, Tyrone, and Amy Grant and her husband, Gregory, and three step-great-grandchildren, Hailey, Alyssa and Cameron. Also surviving are three sisters, Freda Whitaker of Warsaw, Beverly Spatz, of St. Louis, and Darlene Bailey of New Port Beach, California, several nephews and nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services for Rosemary Barb will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 15, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw with Rev. Roger Pickard officiating. Burial will be in the Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw. Pallbearers will be Leroy Whitaker, Tim Clark, Larry Whitaker, Jeff Templeton, Kelly Whitaker and Keith Whitaker. Honorary Pallbearers are Todd Clark, Scott Summers, Troy Clark, Martin Barb, Bill Barb, Jimmy Barb and Robert Barb. Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services. Ray DeFreece
March 8th, 2004
Alvin Ray DeFreece, age 75, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Monday morning, March 8, 2004, at the Baptist Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born in Marshall, Missouri, on October 27, 1928, the son of Roy and Margie Rorrer DeFreece.
He grew up in Hickory County, Missouri, around Cross Timbers, and was married to Pansy Powell on October 29, 1949, at Warsaw, Missouri. On July 6, 1955, he was inducted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany for about one year and was discharged on May 3, 1957.
He returned from the service to make his home in Kansas City. There he worked as a carpenter throughout the metropolitan area and was a member of Carpenters Local #61 in Kansas City.
He retired on April 12, 1988, and they moved to their lake home near Warsaw, Missouri. His wife preceded him in death on July 8, 1997. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Gary DeFreece on December 13, 1977, a daughter, Judy Rabas, on November 10, 1998, and a grandchild, Richard DeFreece in 1972.
Ray is survived by one daughter, Lori Chinnery, of Independence, Missouri, five grandchildren, Becky Pence and her husband, Chad, of Independence, Missouri, Rachel Hart, and her husband, Grady, of Lamar, Missouri, Jeanette Russum, of Mesa Arizona, Wesley Rabas, and his wife, Debra, of Buffalo, Missouri, and Amanda Rabas, of Independence, and five great-grandchildren, Derrick & Gabi Pence, of Independence, Bryant & Kobe Hart, of Lamar, and Emma Rabas, of Buffalo. Also surviving is one sister, Opal Thompson, of Marshall, Missouri, and three brothers, Alva DeFreece, of Independence, J. W. DeFreece, of Cross Timbers, and Carl DeFreece, also of Independence, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday morning, March 11, 2004, at the South New Home Missionary Baptist Church near Cross Timbers with Rev. Dennis Skinner officiating. Burial will be in the South New Home Cemetery, Cross Timbers. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri.
Dave Waller

David Richard Waller, age 51, of Warsaw, passed away suddenly, Sunday, March 7, 2004, at the Bothwell Regional Health Care Center in Sedalia. He was born on April 27, 1952, at BonneTerre, Missouri, the son of Clarence and Mary Kirby Waller.
He grew up in the Salem and Vibernum areas and graduated from Salem High School in 1970. In 1974 he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Fisheries Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
On January 31, 1981, he was united in marriage to Mary Mills at Columbia. Dave worked for the Missouri State Department of Conservation for 30 years. He first was employed at Montauk State Park in Salem, Missouri from 1981 until 1986. Then he went to Hunnewell State Park from 1986 until 1998. In 1998, they moved to Warsaw where Dave was instrumental in the overseeing and building of the Lost Valley Fish Hatchery that he managed. Due to his love of the out-of-doors, he was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Dave was currently serving as the Associate Pastor and Youth Minister of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw. Previously, he had served as Youth Minister for Licking United Methodist Church from 1981-1986, he served as Pastor of the Florida United Methodist Church for over 10 years, and after coming to Warsaw served as Pastor of Edwards United Methodist Church. He was very involved in missionary work and had made many trips to Nicaragua.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Waller, and his grandparents.
Dave is survived by his wife, Mary, and a daughter, Sierra, both of the home, a son, Daniel Waller, his daughter, Lily Grace Waller and his family, Sarah, Mason and Avery Stebbins, all of Warsaw, his mother, Mary Waller of Potosi, Missouri, one brother, Gary Waller of the Greenwood, Missouri, one niece Lisa Waller and her daughter, Kylie, a nephew, Chris Waller, and his daughter, Chloe, several aunts, uncles, other relatives including Mary’s mother, 5 brothers and 2 sisters, and a host of co-workers and friends.
Memorial services for Dave Waller will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 12, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, with Dr. Diana Loomis, Rev. David Belt and Rev. John Maynard officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M, Thursday evening at the church. Body was cremated. Memorials may be made to the Women’s Empowerment Movement of Nicaragua or the First United Methodist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Merle R. Brown

Merle Robert Brown age 64, of Edwards, Missouri passed Friday, March 5, 2004 at his home in Edwards, Missouri. He was born on November 14, 1939 in Bemidji, Minnesota, the son of Floyd & Verla Geller Brown.
He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He worked for Ceco Steel Company working as a shear operator, for many years retiring in 1986. After retirement, he then moved to Edwards, Missouri.
Merle was an avid outdoors man, who loved to hunt, fish and be with nature. He was a family man, and would spend as much time with his family as he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, Debbie and one brother, Don Brown.
He is survived by his five children, which include, a daughter Lisa Wade, and her husband Steve, of Kansas City, Mo., a son Darren Brown and his wife, Angie, of Liberty, Mo., a daughter, Ericka Brown, of Independence, Mo., a son Tony Brown, and his wife, Martha, of Kansas City, Mo. and a son Merle Brown and his wife, Becky, also of Kansas City, Mo. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jacob Wade, Ciara Brown, Jordan Brown and Toni Brown, two brothers Ernie Brown and his wife Shirley, and Shirley was not just his sister-in-law, but was his best friend, and Ted Brown, and his wife Bird Brown. He also leaves behind a sister Phyllis Danielson and her husband Roy, and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and many friends.
Grave side service for Merle R. Brown will be held, Monday, March 8, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bethel Campground Cemetery, in Edwards, Missouri, with Rev. Richard Anthony, officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Benton County Hospice c/o the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Polly Fastner

Pauline “Polly” Virginia Thomas Fastner, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 3, at the age of 67, after a prolonged illness of lung cancer. She was born in Beebeetown, Iowa, in 1936, the daughter of Chester O. and Myrtle M. Thomas, the youngest of six children.
She was a graduate of Missouri Valley High School (class of 1954). She received her certificate in X-ray Technology in 1956 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
She was united in holy wedlock to Karl D. Fastner on November 30, 1957. The Fastners relocated to Warsaw in 1991 and they, along with their daughter, Melanie, opened The Mule Barn Trade Fair in 1994. The business was sold in 2001 and they retired.
She was baptized into the Lutheran faith in 1959. She was active in various organizations throughout her life. She served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Turners Club of Kansas City in 1968.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and a son, Karl Thomas Fastner.
She is survived by her husband, Karl Dieter Fastner, of the home, a daughter, Melanie and her husband Chris Taylor, grandchildren, James Christopher, Adrienne Rose and Holly Kay. Also surviving are two sisters, Marjorie Tripp of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Janice Mart of Altoona, Iowa, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, March 13, 2004, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw. They family requests memorial remembrances to Twin lakes Hospice in lieu of flowers. John 3:16.
