Bell Berns
BERNS, Bell – passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, Iowa.
Bell Berns is survived by a son, John, and his children, Cassandra and Josh; a son, Michael and wife, Carol, and children, Sarah and Andrew; a sister-in-law, Edna Berns and a niece and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, her parents, Alfred and Mary Jorgensen, sisters, Violet and Mae, a brother, Ralph and a daughter-in-law, Sherry Berns.
Bell was born on May 14, 1915 on the family farm. She graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1933. She was married to Elmer Berns on January 22, 1936 at the parsonage of St. John Lutheran Church by Reverend George Grundle. Bell and Elmer farmed east of Lanesboro for 8 years and then moved to the family farm that became a century farm in 1999.
She was very active in church women's groups, Thursday Club and Open Hand Club. She was well known for her excellent baking, her passion for flowers, and her unforgettable sense of humor.
Funeral Details: Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Lanesboro. Rev. Dwight Grosvenor will be officiating. Burial in Lanesboro Cemetary. Visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City.

Pearl Viola Ringgenberg
RINGGENBERG, Pearl Viola– passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2004 in Carroll, Iowa.
Pearl Viola Brown was born Sunday, August 8, 1915, in Auburn, Iowa. She was the daughter of Charles and Elma Willert Brown. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1933. She married Ai Walrod on December 29, 1938, at Auburn and the couple farmed between Auburn and Lake View for several years. After Ai died on August 8, 1971, Pearl moved into Auburn. In 1983 she married Russell Ringgenberg, and he died on September 9, 2002. Pearl belonged to the Sunshine Birthday Club for several years, and also enjoyed playing cards.
Pearl is survived by her sons Richard (Linda) Walrod of Sioux City, IA; Ronald (Shirley) Walrod of Boone, IA; Robert (Gail) Walrod of Akron, IA; stepson Don (Lana) Ringgenberg of Manning, IA; stepdaughter Claudia (Paul) Horick of Iowa City, IA; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and a sister Elma Green of Auburn, Iowa.
Funeral Details: Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Auburn, Iowa.

June Lasher
Lidderdale – June Lasher, 93, died Friday, December 3, 2004 at Shady Oaks Care Center, Lake City. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City. Rev. Lorinda Hoover officiating. Burial in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lidderdale. Visitation after 3 p.m. Monday at the Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City.
Survivors include her son, Larry Lasher, Glidden; 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; 1 sister Naomi Streeter, Lanesboro; 2 brothers, Don Remsburg, Belan, New Mexico, and Cecil Remsburg , Lake City; 1 daughter- in-law, Linda Lasher, Glidden; 2 sister-in-laws, Alice Remsburg, and Phyllis Remsburg both of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 brothers, Warren, Dale and Deane Remsburg; 2 sisters, Wilma Hopkins and Helen Chevalier; three brothers-in-law, Russell Streeter, Earl Hopkins and Vern Chevalier; three sisters-in-law, Ann Remsburg, Doris Remsburg and Betty Remsburg.
June Remsburg was born on June 30, 1911 to parents William and Lulu ( Wierick ) Remsburg. June graduated from Lanesboro High School. and married Daniel Lasher on March 8, 1931 at Carroll, Iowa. She lived on the farm near Lidderdale for 40 years, Lanesboro for 33 years, and for the past 2 years at Lidderdale. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lanesboro. June belonged to several Bridge Clubs.

Evonne (Bonnie) Barkmeier
Bonnie Barkmeier, 74, died Friday, Novemeber 26, 2004 at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines. Survivors include her husband Keith, Lake City; five children, 3 daughters, Bethany and Mark Morrow, Lake City, Peggy and David Rathe, Waverly, and Amy and Kevin Schumacher, Lake City. 2 sons, Kim and friend Donna Barkmeier, Boone, and Bill Barkmeier, Lake City. 17 grandchildren, and step-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. 1 brother, Duane Sohm, Havre, Montana. Preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Claire, Vernon, Eugene, and Leon Sohm; and her granddaughter Jill Schumacher. Bonnie was born on February 1, 1930 in Danbury, Iowa to Leonella ( Dirkx ) and Frank Sohm. Her mother died when Bonnie was two years old, and she was then raised in Carroll by her grandparents Mary and Theodore Dirkx, and her aunt and uncle Annette and Lou Hannasch. She attended school in Carroll and graduated from St. Angela Academy in 1948. After graduating she entered St. Anthony's School of Nursing and received her R.N. in 1951. On November 2, 1951 she married Keith Barkmeier at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Carroll. Bonnie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and nurse. Her nursing career spanned 50 years, most recently retiring from Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City in 2001.

Mary Diane Kraft
Mary Diane Kraft - Manson, 58, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at Trinity Regional Medical Center , Fort Dodge . Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City , with Pastor Mike Hastie officiating. Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery , Lake City . Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City .
Mary Diane Kraft was born October 11, 19 46 at the Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge to Clifford Lee and Charlotte ( Bradford ) Abrams. She graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1964. She was united in marriage with Delbert Kraft, July 24, 1970 , at Fort Dodge . They made their home in Fort Dodge for 7 years and then moved to the Manson area where they have lived for the past 27 years. Mary Diane Kraft had worked as a nurse's aide for 10 years at the Mercy Hospital , Ft. Dodge , and was a homemaker. She was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church, Ft. Dodge .
Mary Diane Kraft is survived by her husband, Delbert Kraft, Manson; sons, Ronald Kraft, Gowrie and Matthew Kraft, Ft. Dodge , who is a member of the Iowa National Guard and is presently serving in Afghanistan ; 2 grand- children, Haylee and Grace Kraft; a brother, John Abrams, Maine ; a sister, Carole Welch, Maryland and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her parents.

John DeVries
Lake City – John Edward DeVries, 77, died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Stewart Memorial Hospital, Lake City. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Woodlawn Christian Church, Lake City, with the Rev. Carla Hillyer officiating. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery, Lake City. Military flag presentation by the Lake City Legion and V.F.W. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City.
John is survived by his wife, Doris; sons Jerry and his wife Norma, of Lake City; Rodney and his wife Joni, of Ankeny, Iowa; Scott and his wife Marlys, of Lake City; and daughter Denise Bird and her husband Bill of Newell; eight grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and three great-step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ella Ahrenholz DeVries, brother Martin DeVries, sister Etta DeVries and daughter Elaine DeVries.
John Edward DeVries was born November 28, 1926 near Breda, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946. On December 31, 1946 he was united in marriage to Doris Kral at the Christian Church parsonage in Lake City. John was a farmer, DeKalb Seed dealer, and ringman for the Lake City Sale Barn. John was a member of the Woodlawn Christian Church.

Lavon Anderson
ANDERSON, Lavon – 85, Lake City, died Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Stewart Memorial Hospital, Lake City. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lake City Union Church. Rev. Betty Weidert officiating. Burial in the Cottonwood Cemetery, Lake City. Visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City.
Survivors include her husband Ronald (Andy) Anderson Sr., Lake City, one daughter Ronna L. McNeil, Fredericksburg, Iowa. Two sons, Ronald Anderson, Jr., and Rick Anderson, both of Lake City. 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Two brothers Harold Janssen, Auburn, Iowa and Merlin (Jake) Janssen, Yetter, Iowa. Two sisters, Evelyn Twogood, Lake City, Iowa and Phyllis Huisenga and her husband Don, Marble Falls, Texas. Preceded in death by her parents, one sister Alva Batz and a brother in infancy Ronald Janssen . One great-grandson Jacob Allen Keen.
Ida Lavon Janssen was born on October 23, 1919 at Lake City, Iowa to parents Jake and Faye ( Wright ) Janssen. Lavon married Ronald Anderson on June 2, 1947 at the Lake City Presbyterian Church, Lake City. Worked for a number of years with the Lake City Schools before retiring.

Albert Bauer
Albert Bauer, 85, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Stewart Memorial Hospital, Lake City. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Auburn. Rev. Erland Asmus officiating. Burial in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Auburn. Visitation after 3 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City.
Albert John Godfrey Bauer was born on February 10, 1919 the son of Adolph and Margaret ( Mau ) Bauer in Jackson Township, Crawford County, Iowa. He was baptized on the 13 th day of April 1919 at Wall Lake, Iowa at Peace Lutheran Church. He went to grade school in the Boyer and Herring area. After moving to the Yetter and Auburn area he went into the U.S. Army on the 10 th of October 1941 at Ft. Des Moines, Iowa. Served in Alaska, Europe and Italy. He was awarded the good conduct ribbon and one Bronze star. He was discharged October 10, 10945 at Carson, Colorado. Albert married Johanna Gerdes on December 11, 1946.
Survivors include his two children; son Norman Bauer and his wife Vivian of Rockwell City and daughter Linda Magner and her husband Terry of Glidden. 4 grandchildren, Amie Tate, Mark Bauer, Angie Kraus, and Kelly Bauer, 2 step grandchildren Jeff Magner and Mike Magner. One brother Arnold Bauer, Kimberling City, Missouri. Preceded in death by His parents, 1 brother William Bauer and 1 sister Margaret Ann Chandler. Albert was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church serving on the church council for many years. Also a faithful member of Adult Bible Class.
