C.E. "Eddie" Fowler, 63, of Andrews died Monday August 8, 2005 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
Memorial Services are 1:00 PM Friday, at the Andrews Church of God. Jeff Welter of Gardendale will officiate.
Eddie was born June 18, 1942 in Andrews, Texas and has been a life long Andrews resident. He servded in the US Navy from 1959 to 1961. He worked as Grounds Keeper of the Andrews County Court House for many years.
He loved music and enjoyed hunting when he was young, with his brothers and grandfather.
He is survived by; Two Sons-Eddie Fowler, Jr of Andrews; Joe Fowler of Andrews; Daughter- Malissa K. Fowler of Corpus Christi, Texas; His Mother- Margie Reed of Andrews; Bothers- David Fowler of Andrews and James Reed of Santa Anna, Texas; Sisters-Julia Rich of San Angelo; Jane Grace of Andrews and Jakie Ann Cowling of South Dakota; and Eight Grandchildren and one Great-granschild.

Services for L.C. Abbott, 78 of Odessa will be 10:00 AM Graveside, Wednesday August 10, 2005 in Andrews North Cemetery. The Odessa V.F.W. Post # 4372 will conduct military services.
L.C. passed away Sunday, August 7, 2005 in Andrews. He was born on December 30, 1926 in Truscott, Texas to Henry and Zora Abbott . He taught and coached for 36 years in Mertzon and Ector County Independent School District. He loved to golf, fish and be with his grandchildren and family. He was in the Navy aviation division in W.W. II.
Survivors include, wife of 56 years, Jean, Odessa; son Bruce, Odessa, daughter Carole Watts and husband Dusty of Lubbock, grandchildren Taylor Abbott and Seth Watts, sisters Peggy Jackson, San Angelo and Maxine Butler and her husband Norman, Conroe. A sister Brenda Abbott preceded him in death.

He died Friday, August 5, 2005 at his residence in Odessa.
He was born June 9, 1959 in Andrews to Joe Clifton Rich and Vera Jean Orndorff Rich. He attended Andrews High School and moved to Odessa in 1993. He married Sonia Ann Adams on December 21, 1999 in Odessa. He worked as a courier, nurses aide, and in maintenance for Seabury Nursing Center in Odessa. He was a member of the Andrews Church of God.
He is survived by his wife: Sonia Rich of Odessa; parents: Joe C. and Vera Rich of Odessa; 2 sisters: Donna Gregory and husband Donald of Odessa and Vickie Rich of Odessa; and nephew: Jessie Rich of Odessa.

She died Thursday, August 4, 2005 at Avalon Place in Odessa.
She was born October 6, 1909 in Kiefer, Oklahoma to Howard Harvey Hines and Hazel Dale Rutter Hines. She married James Henry Forlines on April 26, 1931 in Chandler, Oklahoma. They moved to Andrews in 1957 from Denver City. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1989. She moved to Odessa in 2004. Earlier in her life, she had been a member of the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker and a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister: Beatrice Hines.
She is survived by her daughter: Carol Fore and husband Howard of Gardendale; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.

Joan Hammack, 54, of Andrews passed away Sunday, July 31, 2005 at herhome in Andrews.

Joan was born April 15, 1951 in Dekalb, Texas. She moved to Andrews with her family when she was just 3 years old. She married Glenn Hammack, November 2, 1968 in Andrews. She was a clerk for Key Energy in Andrews for many years and loved her job there. She helped her husband pastor the House of Mercy Church in Andrews and Day Spring Assembly of God in Odessa. She loved being with her Kids and Grandsons. She also loved to play the piano and sing in church. She was preceded in death by, her father, Chester Compton, and brothers David and Ronald Compton.
She is survived by: Her Husband-Glenn Hammack of Andrews; One Daughter- Amy Hammack of Odessa; One Son-Eric and his wife Jessica Hammack of Andrews; Her Mother-Nadine and Step-Father, Alfred Campbell of Andrews; and Sister Barbara Harris of Andrews; and Three Grandsons-Jair M., Jachin B. and Jase T. He died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at his residence in Andrews.
He was born January 6, 1965 in Richmond, Texas to Franklin Delano Swindle and Gladys Feen Swindle. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1983 and from the Odessa Police Acadamey. He had also worked at George Brothers Fabrication and J & J Steel in Odessa. He received his LVN license in 1992 and had worked as a traveling LVN at prisons and Midland Memorial Hospital. He married Tracye Lynne Peek on July 6, 2005 in Andrews. He liked to fish, play golf, and ride motorcycles. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his father: Franklin D. Swindle on September 26, 2001.
He is survived by his wife: Tracye Swindle of Andrews; son: Jarod Swindle of Andrews; 2 stepdaughters: Stassi Fuller of Andrews and Heather Fuller of Brownwood; mother: Gladys Porter and husband Johnny of Andrews; 3 sisters: Frances Steward and husband Junior of Andrews, Bonnie Cummins and husband Craig of Andrews, and Kathy Snell and husband Billy of Andrews; and niece: Kay Moore of Andrews.

Ted died Saturday, July 23, 2005 at Willow Hill Assisted Care Center in Andrews. She was born on October 12, 1912 in Eolian, Texas. She graduated in Andrews High School in 1930. She married Carl P. “Mutt” Ellis on September 8, 1934 in Andrews. Mutt preceded her in death in 1949. Ted owned Andrews Tiny Tech Nursery School from 1958 to 1987. She was a member of the Means Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter Jan Bilhartz, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, sons Mutt Ellis, Midland, Texas and Bobby Ellis, Odessa, Texas, a sister Dottie Truk, Midland, Texas, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
BYFORD GAYLE SEALY

Byford Gayle Sealy, the only child of Carl and Lurline Sealy was born on February 19, 1926 in Waxahachie, Texas. He died on July 21, 2005 in Andrews. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, July 24, 2005, at the Andrews Church of Christ. Officiating will be Minister Mark Wilson, and Moody Conner. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Jo Ann of the home, one son Scott Sealy and his wife Gloria of Andrews; two daughters-Gayle Schultz and her husband John of Houston, Texas, and their children Shauna Schultz of Dallas, Texas and Jason Schultz of San Diego, California; Keri Wientjes and her husband Ross of Mound City, South Dakota, and their children, Payton, Pearson, Reece and Channing. He was pre-deceased by his parents and a son Michael Neil Sealy, who died in an automobile accident the day after he finished his junior year at Texas Christian University.
Byford and his parents moved to Andrews in 1929 and Byford graduated from Andrews High School in 1942. He was baptized at the age of 13 in a dirt tank about 10 miles north of Andrews. He attended John Tarleton Agricultural College for one year and then enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of seventeen in 1943 at Marine Recruit Depot in San Diego. Basic training was at Camp Pendleton in California. He served as a machine-gunner on Saipan and Okinawa, an as an MP in the occupation of Japan in Nagasaki after the atom bomb was dropped. He returned home in 1947 and attended what is now the University of North Texas, earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music in 1951. He then became the band director in Hawkins for one year before re-entering the Marine Corps as an officer in 1952. While in Hawkins he was also the tuba player in the East Texas Symphony. He was a naval gun spotter in Korea for about 6 to 7 months. He returned to the U.S. and was stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. Upon leaving the Marine Corps as a captain in 1955, he entered the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent in Washington D.C. and Chicago, Illinois. Byford and his family returned to Andrews in 1957 for him to go into the abstract business with his father. After returning to Andrews he served on the City Council as Mayor, he served as a board member of the Andrews Independent School District. He was a member of the Andrews Industrial Foundation and was on the Board of Directors of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce. Byford met his wife Jo Ann while they were both playing in the Midland-Odessa Symphony Orchestra, where he played tuba and she played French horn. Jo Ann attended West Texas State University on a music scholarship given by the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, in which she played French horn. Byford and Jo Ann were married on September 27, 1969. Byford has reflected that Jo Ann is comparable to the wife described in Proverbs 31:10-31 and has said that she has all of the good characteristics of that wife.
Byford has lost his long battle with cancer – having had treatment for the past 18 years.

Rosa Chavarria, 57, of Andrews passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at her home in Andrews.
Rosa was born January 5, 1948 in Valle Nuevo, Mexico. She moved to Andrews from El Paso in 1983. She was a Homemaker and Mother.
She was a member of the Andrews Iglesia De Christo in Andrews. She loved to be involved in church and she loved to sing.
She will be State at the Andrews Iglasia De Christo, until services Friday.

She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at her residence in Andrews.
She was born September 10, 1929 in Stanton, Texas to Frank Russell Payton and Nannie Pearl Payton Shelburne. She attended Stanton High School, and she married Laymon Lee Baker on August 4, 1946 in Big Spring. They moved to Andrews in 1965 from Stanton. They owned and operated Baker Shoe Service in Andrews from 1965 - 1984. She loved to fish, sew, cook, play dominos, puzzles, and cards. She was a lifetime member of Royal Neighbors of America and was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter: Mary Dailee Williams in 2002; and a grandson: Laymon Bryan Morris in 1986.
She is survived by her husband: Laymon L. Baker of Andrews; 3 daughters: Alice Buttross of Edmond, Oklahoma; Linda Thomson of Rotan, and Sheila Matthews of Arlington; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Dane Lee, 83 of Andrews passed away Saturday July 9, 2005 at his home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Bill Melton will officiate. Burial will be 5:30 PM at Trinity Memorial Cemetery in Big Spring.
Dane was born March 28, 1922 in Regency, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Dorothy "Aleene" Padgett, July 27, 1948 in Kermit, Texas. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas for 36 years, he was a plant superintendent. They moved to Andrews in 1983 after his retirement. Dane Loved to golf and enjoyed traveling to places like Las Vegas to play in golf tournaments with his wife and friends. He enjoyed Camping and traveling with their RV, and he loved to work in the yard. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews and the Masonic Lodge in Jal, NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Benjamin Isaac and Effie Jane Lee, and a Sister-Vernell Maples.
Dane is Survived by: Wife- Aleene Lee of Andrews; Son- Jim Berringer of Big Spring; Brother- Floyd Lee of Jal, NM; 2 Grandchildren- Paul Berringer of Big Spring and Amy Fields of Coahoma and 4 Great-Grandchildren-Kolby and Tailor Fields and Brett and Cortney Berringer; One Nephew- O.B. She was born December 8, 1912 in Junction to William Tate Jarvis and Rosabell Ivy Jarvis. She graduated from Junction High School. She married Clarence Grobe on December 26, 1934 in Rocksprings, Texas. They moved to Andrews in 1956. She taught school in Andrews for over 20 years, and also taught school in Jal, New Mexico, Katy, and in Sutton County for a ranching family. Her husband preceded her in death on February 7, 1991. She moved to Odessa in 1994 and then to Bedford in 2002. She was a lifetime member of the Pink Ladies Auxillary in Andrews, and a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Bill Grobe of Jal, New Mexico and Fred Grobe of Euless, Texas; 1 brother: Jack Jarvis of Austin; 2 sisters: Dorothy Baker of Sonora and Loma Waters of Marietta, Georgia; 3 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

He died Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at Hospice Midland Inpatient Unit in Midland.
He was born January 16, 1931 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Clement Bernis Fitts and Clara Jane Paden. He attended Bacone Indian School in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he was on the boxing team, was a Golden Glove, and boxed at nationals in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Air Force for 7 years during WWII and Berlin Airlift. He married Alma Grace Fitts on April 2, 1956 in Andrews. He moved to Big Lake in 1956 from Levelland and then to Andrews in 1958. He has owned and operated Fitts Electrical Construction, Inc. in Andrews since 1966. He served on the Andrews City Council from 1976-1979. He supported and volunteered at the Boys Club Boxing and Mustang Boxing Club in Andrews. He sponsored the Cherokee Nation "Trail Of Tears" bicycle ride from North Carolina to Oklahoma in 1986. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024. He was a registered member of the Cherokee Nation and was a Methodist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother: Bill Fitts in 1993.
He is survived by his wife: Alma Grace Fitts of Andrews; 1 son: Stephen Duane Fitts of Manchester, England; 2 daughters: Lana Carol Browning of Aurora, Colorado and Glora Elizabeth Crutcher of Andrews; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

They moved to Andrews in 1965 from Fort Worth. He preceded her in death on October 31, 1999. She had been involved in the Andrews Amoco Annuitant Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was involved in the Victory Singers, Kare Club, and most important the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 sister; and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her daughter: Juavana Stark of The Villages, Florida; and son: Billy Jackson of Norfolk, Virginia; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

She was born July 24, 1916 in Charleston, Texas to Albert Oats and Birdie Drucilla George Oats. She married David Walker Server on April 20, 1934 in Portales, New Mexico. They moved to Welch in 1937. They owned and operated Server Gin Company in Welch from 1950-1977. Her husband preceded her in death on February 25, 1993. She moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 2000. She loved her family and loved to quilt and embroidery. She was a member of the Welch United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her daughter: Drucilla Ann Server in 1935; her parents; 3 sisters; and 4 brothers.
She is survived by her daugher: Kay Fowler and husband Bob of Jal, New Mexico; 1 son: David Server and wife Evelyn of Snyder, Texas; 2 sisters: Billie Tucker of Newark, Ohio and Sue Cobb of Bosier City, Louisiana; 1 brother: Scott Oats of Mission, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren.

Dwight Longley, 53, of Andrews passed away Friday June 17, 2005 at his home in Andrews.
Dwight was born October 14, 1951 in Dallas, Texas. He has lived in Andrews for many years. He worked as a Tubing Tester for with Basin Testers for many years. He loved to play the drums and enjoyed music. He was an artist, enjoying drawing and making things.

She was born October 27, 1923 in Winston County, Alabama to Joseph Hurst Teague and Vera Emma Hand Teague. She married Jesse "Son" Harris on November 22, 1941 in Haleyville, Alabama. They moved to Andrews in 1951 from Haleyville. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 13, 2005. She was a homemaker, a member of the Gleaner Sunday School Class and a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews.

Angela "Angie" Mireles Montono, 37, of Greeley, Colorado passed away June 4, 2005 at her home in Greeley. Rosary will be at 7:00 PM Thursday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2005 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Ted Short pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Angie was born August 31, 1967 in Andrews, Texas. She was a homemaker. She grew up in Andrews and has lived in Greeley for the past several years.

Services for James R. Holder, 73 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 26, 2005 in Calvary Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Don Swindell, Chaplain with Star Hospice and James Beard, Pastor of McKinney Baptist Church of Andrews.
James died in Andrews on Sunday, May 22, 2005. He was born on April 27, 1932 in Winsor, North Carolina. He married Evelyn Louise Cowling on July 21, 1953 in Wichita Falls, Texas. James was a Baptist; drove a truck for Pride for several years and for Permian; and drove an activity bus for Andrews schools for 4 years. James served in the Air Force during the Korean War Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn on June 17, 2004 and a daughter Wilma Southern on May 28, 1981.
Survivors include; daughters; Charlotte Brown, Midland, Debbie Riordan, Porterville, CA, Sandra Tidwell and Tammy O’Bannon both of Andrews, sisters Florene Jones and Syble Mizzile, both of Winsor, NC; Eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Opal Crowe Thompson, 85, of McAllen and formerly of Andrews, passed away Friday May 20, 2005 at Twinbrook South Nursing Home in McAllen, Texas.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday May 24, 2005 at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Andrews. Dr. Jeff Donnell will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Opal was born October 24, 1919 in Jennings, Oklahoma. She married Earle Thompson March 23, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They moved to Andrews in 1952 and she lived there until 2000. Her husband preceded her in death in 1984.
She was a File Clerk for Amaco for 30 years from 1952 to 1982. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Andrews, She was one of the founding members of the Victory Singers, she was in the Sweet Adelines, and sang in the church choir, music was her life.
She is survived by: Daughter-Diane Wood of Mission, Texas; One Brother-Jim Crowe of Alamonte, FL; Grandchildren; Rene Morgan of Hickory Creek, Texas; and Larry Wood of Corinth, TX; Great-Grandchildren; Jeremy and Taylor Morgan of Hickory Creek and Madison and Lanie Wood of Corinth, Texas.

Memorial services for Alex W. Shaffer, 67 of Andrews will be 4:30 PM Saturday, May 21, 2005, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Riley, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas. Cremation was under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Alex died Thursday, May 19, 2005 in Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews. He was born on July 21, 1937 in Erath County, Texas. He married Ginger Holden on January 1, 1959 in Comanche, Texas. Alex owned and operated Andrews Flight Service for several years before retirement.
Survivors include: Wife Ginger, Andrews, daughter Debra Guthrie and husband David, Odessa, brother John Shaffer, Midland, sister Bonnie Palmer, Dublin.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Vera Shaffer, a son Mark Allan Shaffer in 1996, brother Odell Shaffer in 2003 and a sister Juanita Clyde in 1989.

She was born June 6, 1920 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma to Harry Vanner Lantz and Allie Mae Chester Lantz. She moved to Andrews in 1965 from Oklahoma City. She cleaned homes in Andrews. She was a past member of Bible Baptist Church in Andrews, where she also ran the nursery for 20 years.
She is survived by her 2 daughters: Brenda Joyce Lemmons of Denver, Colorado and Shawna Lea Criner of Andrews; 2 sons: Dewey Lynn Carr of Burke, Virginia and David Lance Carr of Denison; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

Julian Turnbow, 80, of Andrews died Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrerws.

Julian was born November 16, 1924 in Lorane, Texas. In 1928, at the age of three, he and his family moved to Andrews. He served in the US Army during World War II. He worked in the oilfield for many years in West Texas. He married Lou Ann Westfall April 5, 1963 in Andrews. He was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church and loved to serve as a greeter there. He enjoyed working in his garden trying to make his roses bloom. He liked to fix thing and reading his Bible. He loved sports; and the Andrews Mustangs and the Dallas Cowboys were his favorites. He also had a bit of a sweet tooth and loved chocolate pie, and he loved living in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four Brothers.
He is survived by: Wife Lou Ann Turnbow of Andrews; Four Sons- Gary Vaughn of Corpus Christi; Gene Young of Austin, Brad Young of Andrews; Charlie Young of Andrews; Three Daughters- Linda Sue Rumbaugh of Andrews; Marion Sheffield of Andrews; and Martha Bryant of Andrews; One Sister- Lola Haller of Mason, Texas ; 19 Grandchildren and 14- Great-Grandchildren

She died May 13, 2005 at her residence in Andrews.
She was born September 10, 1912 in Purcell, Oklahoma to Silas Hawkins and Mary Wilkey Hawkins. She married Albert Lee Nelson on September 4, 1934 in Decatur, Texas. She had lived in Seagraves and Seminole. She had worked as a nurse and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seagraves.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; her son: Robert Lee Nelson in 1995; her daughter: Yvonne Workman in 2004; her parents; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her 4 daughters: Shirley Alcorn of Conroe, Betty Wooten of Odessa, Shirley Locke of Bronte, and Sharon Digby of Rockland; 1 son: Ronnie Nelson of Jasper, Alabama; 4 sisters: Alice Graham of Michigan, Orlean Farris, Billie Murray, and Gracie Calhoon, all of Sacramento, California; 38 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; and 20 great great grandchildren.

J.L. Perry, 72, of Buffalo, Texas passed away Saturday, May 7, 2005 at College Station Medical Ceneter in College Station, Texas.

J.L. was born February 2, 1933 in Rusk, Texas. He married Lou Ann Scoggins May 27, 1961 in Tioga, Texas. They lived in Andrews for over 38 years. They moved to Buffalo in 2001. He worked in the oil field for years and was known as "Levi" to many of his co-workers. He ran the first Cat Drilling Rig in West Texas and was featured on the Cover of Texas Monthly Magazine. In 1988 he started his own business, Perry's Tire Store, in Andrews and Operated it untill he retired in 2001.
He loved to Fish and Hunt and work in his garden and on cars. He loved his Grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling them.
He is survived by: Wife-Lou Ann Perry of Buffalo; Three Sons- Jay and wife Linda Perry of Andrews; Jeff Perry of Rankin, and Joel Perry of Leona; Daughter Jennifer Perry-Darrow and Husband Billy Paul of Big Spring; 5 Brothers- Troy Perry of Center; Charlie Perry of Palestine; Blue Perry of Corsicana; Pop Perry of Madisonville; and Jim Perry of Ackerly, Texas; Three Sisters- Eloise Roberts of Pointer, Texas; Ann Perry of Palestine; and Dorothy Henderson of Palestine; 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.
