MARGARET S. LLOYD
Heaven welcomed a new angel on Saturday, May 8th, 2004, when Margaret S. Lloyd, 97, passed away at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa, her home for the past three years. Born in Troy, December 11, 1906, she was the daughter of James and Frances (Carpenter) Sheeran.
She worked at Ballston Knitting Company and the Ballston Journal. She sold Better Brushes and was a licensed real estate agent. An active member of the Ballston Area Seniors for many years, she served 23 years as Sunshine Lady.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, and the love of her life, George A. Lloyd. Her brother James Sheeran also predeceased her.
Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was very proud of her family, as they were of her. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Raymond) Murphy of Ballston Spa and Ann (Robert) Perrino of Greenfield Center, four grandchildren Jay (Maria) Murphy of Cleveland , Ohio, Lee (Christine) Murphy of Gansevoort, Lloyd (Billie Jo) Perrino of Saratoga Springs and Tracy Perrino of Fort Worth, Texas. 5 Great Grandchildren Allison, Cole, Tommy, Danny and Katie Murphy. She is also survived by a sister Anna Mae Bennett of Saratoga Springs and several nieces and nephews.

K. IRENE ARMER, 96, of Birchton Road, Ballston Spa, died Thursday, May 6, 2004 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in the Town of Milton, May 28, 1907, she was the daughter of Edgar and Lillie Palmateer. She was the oldest living graduate of Galway High School Class of 1923.
Mrs. Armer worked at Ackshand Knitting Mill in Ballston Spa for many years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. She was a devoted regular attendee of The Alliance Church in Ballston Spa.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Gordon Armer, a son Robert Armer, 3 grandchildren Gerald Bishop, Carla Quinlan, Susan Belak, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survivors include seven daughters, Doris Tretiak of West Charlton, Myrtle Hamilton and her husband Richard of Hammondsport, Betty Trigg of Galway, Alice Carpenter of Galway, Ruth Quinlan and her husband Charles of Galway, Ella Laird and her husband Loren of Charlton, June Hatlee and her husband Carl of Schenectady; six sons, Laurence Armer of Ballston Spa, Cecil Armer of Ballston Spa, Gordon Armer and his wife Gladys of Ballston Spa, Wallace Armer of Ballston Spa, Willard Armer of Galway, Arthur D. Armer and his wife Lois of Galway; three sisters, Alice Barnes of Charlton, Margaret Richardson of Galway, Clarice Reynolds of Galway; two brothers, Clifford Palmateer of Galway, Floyd Palmateer of Galway; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Maxine H. Gifford, 66, of Kirby Road, Saratoga Springs, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at her home.
Born in Warrensburg, January 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Winfred and Bertha Wescott. Mrs. Gifford worked as an inserter at the Saratogian for 10 years. She enjoyed Bingo
She was predeceased by her husband Julian Gifford, a son Jeffery Gifford, a grandson Joshua Pritchard and a brother Earl Wescott.
She is survived by five children, Arthur H. Gifford and his companion Laura Westcott of Springfield, MA, Brian P. Gifford and his wife Bunny, of Greenfield Center, Beverly Pritchard and her husband Timothy of Corinth, Lisa Norton and her husband John of Hudson Falls, Kevin Gifford of Hudson Falls; a brother, Ralph Wescott of Ballston Spa; a sister, Gloria Iovino of Schenectady; twelve Grandchildren and three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

DOUGLAS H. WELCH
Douglas H. Welch, 85, of Currie Court, Ballston Spa, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Charlton, May 6, 1918, he was the son of the late Frederick and Clara Welch. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Mr. Welch worked for the Saratoga County Highway Department for 20 years until his retirement. He was an avid golfer. He was a longtime member of the Ballston Spa Country Club and was club champion several times.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Welch; two children, Douglas F. Welch and his wife Kathleen of Ballston Spa, Elizabeth Holub and her husband Ray of Saratoga Springs; two grandchildren, Gregory Welch and Molly Schaefer; two sisters, Margaret Irwin of Ballston Spa, Agnes Tilsley of Ballston Spa, and several nieces and nephews.

Carmel M. Parillo, 85, of Eastern Avenue, Ballston Spa, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa.
Born in Ballston Spa, March 3, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Fannie Parillo. She was a graduate of Ballston Spa High School and Albany Business College.
Carm worked for the former Siegel’s Furniture Store in Saratoga Springs for 44 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa and the Principessa Elena Society of Saratoga Springs. She loved to cook, knit and spend time with her family.
She was predeceased by 3 sisters Mary Frandino, Rosalie Parillo, Frances Davis
and a brother Anthony Parillo.
He is survived by a brother, James Parillo of Saratoga Springs and several nieces and nephews.

Leonard J. Gleason, 53, of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, died Thursday, April 29, 2004 in West Virginia after a motorcycle accident.
Born in Ballston Spa, August 9, 1950, he was the son of Joseph Gleason and the late Mildred Svoboda Gleason. He was a graduate of Ballston Spa High School and New England School of Art in Boston, Massachusetts.
Lenny was an artist and worked for Quad Graphics in Martinsburg, West Virginia. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa. Lenny was an avid motorcyclist and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Joseph and Mary Gleason of Ballston Spa; several cousins.

Charles R. Sleezer, 50, of Lewis Road, Ballston Spa, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at his home.
Born in Gloversville, January 4, 1954, he was the son of the late Charles Sleezer and Doris Sleezer Miller. He was a graduate of Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School and served in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Sleezer was a professional musician and an active worship team member of Saratoga Abundant Life Church. He worked for AIM Services in Malta.
He is survived by a daughter, Megan Sleezer and a granddaughter, Hayden Sleezer, both of Ballston Spa.

LESLIE O. KING
Leslie O. King, 77, of West High Street, Ballston Spa, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at his home.
Born in Mary, Kentucky, August 4, 1926, he was the son of the late Corsie and Stella King. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He moved to Clifton Park in 1968 and later to Ballston Spa in 1991.
Mr. King was th manager of the instrument and model shop at the General Electric Research and Development Center in Niskayuna, retiring in 1990, after 37 years of service. He was a long standing member of the Instrument Society of America and served as past area president.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Ballston Spa, serving as an usher, a deacon, and in the food pantry. He was an active member of The Gideons, Ballston Area Seniors and the Masonic Lodge in Ohio and Lions Club in Virginia. He was a member of the Adirondack Blue Grass League, Adirondack Fiddlers and the Cambridge Valley Volunteers Blue Grass Band.
He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Mae King. Survivors include his children, Linda Russell of Lynchburg, Virginia, James King of San Jose, California, Carol Fogarty of Ballston Spa, and Nancy Brisson of Schenectady; eleven grandchildren, Chris and Heather Russell, Jamie and Chris King, Courtney and Mollie Fogarty, Wilfred, Anjanette, Michael, Daniel and Thomas Brisson; five sisters, Aneda Gableman, Lois Cable, Maivis Stricker, Adeline Seibert and Inez Schuelle of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Clinnie King and Paul King of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Lynne B. Clairmont, 64 of Galway Road, Ballson Spa, died Thursday, April 22, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital.
Born in Schenectady, November 28, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy Kopper.
She was a graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School and the Ellis Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Clairmont worked as a nurse at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady for 10 years and later at the Saratoga County Infirmary and Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs. After retiring from nursing, she was a school bus driver for Ballston Spa Central Schools for many years. She was a member of the Humane Society.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Clairmont, Sr.; a son, David Clairmont, Jr. and his wife Holly of Northville; granddaughter, Krystle Clairmont; step grandchildren, Jason and Jerrica Baker; two brothers, Richard Kopper of Orlando, Fl, Edward Kopper Jr. of Schenectady; nephew Edward Kopper III of schenectady; niece, Suzanne Kopper of Guilderland.

Arthur R. Garrison, 66, of Jockey Street, Galway, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at his home.
He was born at home April 13, 1938 near Ballston Spa. He was the son of Roy A. and Dorothy E. Garrison. He was a graduate of Galway Central School and served in the U.S. Navy.
Art recently retired from Anvil Fence and Supply Corp of Clifton Park where he was employed as a fence erector for many years. Prior to this he was employed by McNeal Fence in Burnt Hills, and th Towns of Galway and Charlton as an equipment operator.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with family and friends each fall. Art was an active member of the Eastern Regional Draft Horse Association for many years showing horses at local fairs and participating in charity events.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda (Kenyon) Garrison, whom he married October 14, 1962; two sons, Jeffery Garrison and his wife Laura of ballston Lake, Brian Garrison and his wife Karen of Broadalbin; his mother, Dorothy E. Garrison of Galway; two sisters, Betty Denison and her husband Lester of Galway, Sara Gaba and her husband William of Middle Grove; beloved grandchildren, Justin Daniel and Hannah Marie Garrison of Ballston Lake, Kade Joseph Garrison of Broadalbin; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth A. Center, 89, of Goode Street, Ballston Spa, went to the arms of her Lord, Friday, April 16, 2004 at her home.
Born in the Town of Ballston, July 30, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Alice Merchant. She was a graduate of Oneonta State College. Mrs. Center was a teacher at Burnt Hills Schools.
In 1940 she married Glendon G. Center and together they ran a dairy farm and raised their children. She was an active member of the Ballston Center Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Ballston Center Homemakers and Ballston Center Grange. She was a great cook, enjoyed crafts, dancing with her husband and entertaining family and friends.
She was predeceased by a son Glendon Center. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Glendon G. Center; a daughter, Donna J. Preston of Lake Luzerne; a son, Douglas M. Center of Clifton Park; grandchildren, John B. Walson III of Hadley, Glendon K. Walson of Walnut Creek, California, Douglas M. Center Jr of Fort Worth, Texas, Christopher Center of Rockville, Maryland, Kenneth Center of Indianapolis, Indiana, Charity Center of Clifton Park; a sister, Doris Cunningham of Shreveport, Louisiana; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

George Solotruck, 87, formerly of Malta, died Friday, April 16, 2004 at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Barre, Vermont.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey, April 3, 1917, he was the son of Michael and Anna Solotruck. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre.
Mr. Solotruck was a dairy farmer from 1923-1962. He then joined the IBEW Local 1249 Electrical Workers Union in Syracuse and worked as a general foreman for various contractors. He was devoted to his family.
He was predeceased by his first wife Florence (Olechowski) Solotruck, his second wife Mary (Decker) Solotruck and a brother Peter Solotruck. Survivors include a son, George M. Solotruck and his wife Debra of Williamstowne, Vermont; grandchildren, Suzanne Solotruck of Saratoga Springs, George C. Solotruck of Schenectady; great grandson, Sam of Williamstowne, Vermont; sister, Anna Horstman and her husband Richard of Ballston Lake; several nieces and nephews.

Robert L. Pratt, Sr., 69, of Paisley Road, Ballston Spa, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at Saratoga Hospital.
Born in North Greenbush, April 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Daniel and Gladys Pratt. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Pratt worked as a maintenance man for many years.
He was predeceased by a daughter Gladys Pratt. Survivors include three children, Robert Pratt, Jr of Vermont, Pearl Pratt of Florida, Burt Pratt of North Adams, Massachusetts; former wife, Sandra Soltren of Ballston Spa; sister, Beatrice Weaver of Green Island; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Timothy D. Le, 27, of Morris Plains, NJ, died Friday, April 2, 2004, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Vietnam, he was the son of An and Mary Le of Oklahoma City, OK, and the husband of Melody Iffland of Morris Plains, NJ. Timothy graduated from Ballston Spa High School and Pennsylvania State University.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is also survived by three sisters, Amanda Le of Grand Rapids, MI, Marie Le of Greenville, SC, and Jennifer Le of Palatine, IL; a brother, Viet-My Le of Oklahoma City, OK; and a nephew, Casey Le-Wilbanks of Greenville, SC.

WILLIAM J. SHEFT
William J. Sheft, 91, of Ballston Spa, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Ellis Hospital after a short illness.
Born in New York City, July 9, 1912, he was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Bogdan) Sheftz.
Mr. Sheft retired in 1974 from Bentley’s Express in Ballston Spa. He was a truck driver there for 43 years. Mr. Sheft will be remember for his love of wildlife and animals. He was an avid horseracing fan who enjoyed
many, many years at Saratoga Race Track and Simulcast.
Mr. Sheft was a communicant of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa and a member of the Ballston Spa Elks Lodge #2619 for 20 years.
Mr. Sheft was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Agnes Sheft on September 11, 2002. He was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Survivors include a son, William J. Sheft of Ballston Spa; a daughter, Gail Hopeck and her husband Larry of Round Lake; a stepson, David Gerard and his wife Sally of Scotia; seven grandchildren, William J. Sheft, Jr, Michael Sheft, Christopher Sheft, Donald Martin, Lori Barnum, Jessica Huston and Robert Gerard; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Burton D. Quillan, 90, of Arnold Street, Ballston Spa, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Ellis Hospital.
Born in Benson, March 31, 1914, he was the son of the late Frank and Bertha (Hunter) Quillan. He served in the United States Navy, 58th Seabee Battalion Company B4,during World War II in the South Pacific Islands from 1942-46.
Mr. Quillan was an operating engineer for Local 106 of Albany. He was a heavy equipment operator for 50 years. He was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary (Malacynski) Quillan; and his two children, Patrick Quillan of Ballston Spa, Karen Robinson and her husband Jerry of Saratoga Springs; grandson,Devin Robinson of Saratoga Springs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins

Faye E. Dennison, 56, of South Creek Road, Middle Grove, died Monday, March 29, 2004 at Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Saratoga Springs, July 15, 1947, she was the daughter of the late John and Jessie Dennison. Faye was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and singing.
She was predeceased by three sisters Dawn Meader, June Dennison, Donna Blake and two brothers Larry and Jeffrey Dennison. Born in Broadalbin, March 13, 1939. He was the son of Edward and Georgia Person. Mr. Person worked for Cottrell Paper Co. in Rock City Falls for 40 years, retiring in 2003. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

DORIS E. BELLROSE
Doris E. Bellrose, 95, formerly of Middle Grove, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born in Cohoes, July 5, 1908, she was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of St Paul’s Catholic Church in Rock City Falls.
Survivors include 3 Cousins, Doris “Dottie” Delano and her husband Robert of Saratoga Springs, Bessie Thibodeau of Middle Grove, Ruth Burton of Wilton.
Funeral services will be held 10am Monday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Route 29, Rock City Falls where a mass of christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in the spring at Middle Grove Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Sunday afternoon from 2-4pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc

RENEE M. DAVIS
Renee M. Davis, 38, of Rum Cherry Road, Malta, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at her home.
Born in Elyria, Ohio, June 28, 1965, she was the daughter of James and Ann Ward. She served in the United States Air Force at Travis Air Force Base in California, where she met her husband.
Renee was a day care teacher at the YMCA in Malta. Her life and love was dedicated to her family and day care children.
Survivors include her husband, Joel Davis; 2 sons, Zackary and Jakob Davis of Malta; mother, Ann Ward of Oberlin, Ohio; 3 sisters, Kathy Stanfield of Wakeman, Ohio, Debbie Brentlinger of Ocala, Florida, Cindy Pinkston of Oberlin, Ohio; 2 brothers, Bruce Ward of Oberlin, Ohio, Jim Ward of Fort Worth, Texas; Several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Countless Friends.
A celebration of Renee’s life will be held 1pm Saturday at YMCA in Malta Commons at 100 Saratoga Village Boulevard in Malta.

ANITA CAPASSO
Anita Capasso, 57, of Rowland Street, Ballston Spa, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Frankfort, Germany, January 31, 1947, she was the daughter of Kiriakoas and Agnes Aglidian. She came to the United States in 1951 and served in the United States Marine Corp.
Anita was a hairdresser working at Finishing Touches in Ballston Spa. She was a member of American Legion Post 234 of Ballston Spa.
She is survived by a son, James Capasso II of Ballston Spa; a daughter, Nicole Capasso of Ballston Spa; her mother, Agnes Aglidian of Ballston Spa; 4 Brothers, Hans, Albert, Michael, and Kirk; several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

CHARLES R. ZETTERSTROM
Charles R. Zetterstrom, 78, of 320 Old Ballston Avenue, Ballston Spa, returned to the arms of his Maker, Friday, March 5, 2004, at his home.
Born in Saratoga Springs, October 22, 1925, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Helen DaBell Zetterstrom. He was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School. He entered World War II at the age of seventeen, traveling around the world in defense of his country. He was awarded an American Theatre Medal, European Threatre Medal with 1 star, Asiatic Pacific Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Zetterstrom was a master carpenter, retiring after many years as foreman at Skidmore College. He loved the earth, animals and gardening. He especially enjoyed bird hunting with his buddies in Down East, Maine.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Hulka Zetterstrom; a son, Charles Robin Zetterstrom and his wife Alice of Saratoga Springs; a daughter, Debby Zetterstrom of Saratoga Springs; a beloved Grandson, Charles Lowder Zetterstrom of Saratoga Springs; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 6pm Monday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa.
Calling hours will precede the service from 4-6pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring at Maplewood Cemetery in Saratoga Springs
