Patricia C. Breyo
Of Galway Road, passed away Friday, January 5, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Ballston Spa, May 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Earle and Emily Arff. Pat was a floral designer at several area florists and later worked at Skidmore College until her retirement. Her hobbies and passions included golfing, gardening, photography and summers at Lake George. She was active in the Saratoga County 4-H and attended many horse shows with her daughters, when they were growing up. She was very artistic and enjoyed basket weaving and water colors. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years Robert Breyo; her 3 daughters Kimberly Fisk of Galway, Michele (George) Plarr of Eden, and Robin Gannon of Galway; 5 grandchildren Eric Fisk, George and Joshua Plarr; Lane and Griffen Gannon; 3 sisters Chery Austin of Denver, CO, Nancy Vosler of Bradford, PA and Marcia Champagne of Saratoga Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

Julia Timko Bousa
Formerly of Schenectady, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa. Born in Mechanicville, August 10, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Timko. She was a homemaker. Julia enjoyed knitting and knitted many pairs of slippers. She also enjoyed embroidery, and playing BINGO.
She was predeceased by her husband Vincent Bousa, sister Anna Jurcsak, nephew Alexander Orzel, great niece Barbara Orzel Amato and great nephew Mark Jurcsak. She is survived by a niece Betty Orzel of Ballston Spa; 2 nephews Thomas Jurcsak of Ballston Spa and William Jurcsak of Albany, and several great nieces and great nephews.

Magdelen "Maggie" Kozlowski
Magdelen Kozlowski, 80, died peacefully, Wednesday, January 3, 2007 in her winter home in Fairfax, VA with her family close by.
Born in Niskayuna, NY, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth Paskocim. She retired from NYS Department of Parks and Recreation in Saratoga Springs. She formerly worked for Schenectady County Office of the Aging in Scotia; General Foods Corporation, Espey Manufacturing and Electronic Corporation in Saratoga Springs and General Electric in Schenectady. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church for many years before relocating. She enjoyed animals, flowers, golf, puzzles, and most of all her family.
Maggie was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Kozlowski; and her brothers Stephen and Vito Paskocim. She is survived by her loving children Robert Kozlowski of Galway and Mary Cirincione of Fairfax, VA; dear caregivers and friends Evelyn St. Louis of Galway and Joseph Nudi of Fairfax, VA; seven loving Grandchildren Bobbie Brownell, Coby Askew, Sheri Conerty, Kari Smith, Jennifer Arrant, BJ Kozlowski, Jay Cirincione and their spouses; thirteen Great-Grandchildren Shane and Zack Smith; Bailey, Tiffany, and CJ Askew; Brianna, JR and Emma Conerty; Nathan, Amanda, Hannah and Karalyn Smith; and Alexa Arrant; 5 sisters Elizabeth Murray of St. Maries, ID; Anna (Ida) Cruickshank of Ballston Lake; Albina Yanis of Schenectady; Leona Homic and her husband Raymond of Scotia, and Marjorie Della Villa of Fair Oaks, CA; brother Daniel Parks and his wife Renee of Santa Barbara, CA; sister-in-law Sophie Golojuch of New Port Richey, FL and brother-in-law Edmund and his wife Louella Kazlauskas of St. Johnsville, and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held 11am Saturday, January 13 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 9-10:30am Saturday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc, 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa.

William B. Kreski
Of North Street, Ballston Spa, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Maplewood Manor. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Kreski. He moved to Ballston Spa in 1942. He earned his pilots license at age 31 and went on to teach aviation to World War II pilots. He was the manager of Ballston Spa airport and made frequent flights out of Ballston Spa and Round Lake airports. Bill retired from Rickett’s Laundry in Ballston Spa after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Ballston Area Seniors and of their bowling and golfing teams. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at Jim’s Ballston Citgo.
He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, June Kreski. He is survived by his children Robert Kreski and his wife Carol of Madison, Tennessee, Karen Isaacs and her companion Aurel Gregoire of Waterford, 3 grandchildren Robb Law, Shelley Corcoran and John Isaacs and his wife Victoria; 3 great grandchildren Brandon Law, Corey Law and Sara Isaacs.

Madison Savanna Stiles, infant daughter of Malcolm and Sara Stiles, Jr, passed away Monday, January 1, 2007 at Albany Medical Center.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her sister Avonlea Stiles; brother Kaleb Stiles, maternal grandparents Gene and Pat Rougie of Ballston Spa; paternal grandmother Joan Quackenbush of Scotia; paternal grandfather Malcolm Stiles, Sr of Saratoga Springs; paternal great grandmother Ruth Ceraldi of Scotia and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

William (Bill) C. Miller
Of St. Petersburg, FL and formerly of Ballston Spa, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Bay Pines, FL. Born in Ballston Spa, April 1,1921, he was the son of the late W. Gordon and Florence Miller. Bill graduated from Ballston Spa High School and Albany Business College. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force during WW II and was employed by General Electric Co in Schenectady, for 33 years.
He was secretary of the Ballston Town Planning Board for 24 years, secretary/treasurer of the Burnt Hills Fire District for 31 years, and secretary/treasurer of the Briggs Cemetery, Ballston Spa for 35 years. He was also a 60 year member of the Grange, Patrons of Husbandry, a 20 year member of the Ballston Area Seniors, a member of the Franklin Lodge #90 F&AM of Ballston Spa and a member of East Glenville Community Church in Scotia for over 37 years. He was an Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America for 6 years. Bill was an avid gardener, water skier, bowler, snowmobiler and downhill skier. He also enjoyed both square and line dancing, playing pincohle , as well as singing in the church choir and special musical productions.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years Doris Carr Miller; a daughter Karen (Donald) Weldon of Slidell, LA; a son Keith Miller of Ocala, FL; a sister Florence Evans of Schenectady; 2 nephews and a niece.

Of Rock Rose Way, Ballston Spa. Died Sunday, February 26, 2006 at Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Ballston Spa, October 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lucille Golden. Mrs. Dohig previously lived in Shelbyville, Indiana; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Erie, Pennsylvania. She returned to Ballston Spa in 2003. She was a homemaker and a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa.
She was predeceased by her husband William Dohig.
Survivors include her 2 sisters Arlene Noonan of Ballston Spa and Joan Carbone of Ballston Spa. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and 1 great nephew.

Brenda J. Mabie
Of West Milton Road, Ballston Spa. Died Saturday, February 18, 2006 in Lowville, after a snowmobile accident. Born in Glens Falls, November 21, 1963, she was the daughter of Carl and June Gilman. She was a graduate of South High in South Glen Falls and Mohawk Valley Community College. Brenda was a Home and Community Based Service Coordinator for AIM Services of Saratoga Springs. She enjoyed decorating and outdoor activities. Her greatest joy was making her house a home for her husband and children to enjoy. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband Rickke Mabie; her children Joshua Mabie, Matt Mabie and Morgan Mabie of Ballston Spa; parents Carl and June Gilman of Lakeland, Florida; 3 brothers Carl Gilman Jr of South Glens Falls, Thomas Gilman of Lakeland, Florida and Michael Gilman of Tampa, Florida. Freeman L. Gladd, Jr
Formerly of Ballston Spa, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Glendale Nursing Home, after a long illness. Born in Lake Placid, January 21, 1938, he was the son of Agnes Sullivan and the late Freeman L. Gladd, Sr. He was an Army engineer, serving in Italy during the Korean War. Freeman worked for the Southern California Lathers Union for many years, before retiring and moving to Ballston Spa. He enjoyed martial arts, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his 4 children Freeman L. (Debbie) Gladd III of Effort, PA, Dean J. Gladd of Schuylerville, Brian W. (Robyn) Gladd of Pahrump, NV and Jessie L. (Scott) Hinchcliff of Rexford; his mother Agnes Sullivan of Schenectady; 4 brothers Lee Gladd of Albany, Timothy Gladd of Colonie, David Gladd of Schenectady and James Gladd of Clifton Park; sister Patti Hamilton of Bonham, TX; his wife Joyce Gladd of Ballston Spa and her children Robert (Cheryl) Lee of Elijah, GA and Jennifer (Scott) Blaauboer of Ballston Spa. Philip H. VanTassel
Formerly of Middleline Road, Ballston Spa, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Maplewood Manor. Born in Hillsdale, December 22, 1916, he was the son of the late Philip and Florence VanTassel. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Local 157 Laborers Union in Schenectady for 60 years. He enjoyed hunting and the great outdoors.
He was a devoted husband. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Monetta Christensen VanTassel; daughter Andrea Alexander-Varvarchin of Ballston Spa; grandson Philip Michael Alexander of Ballston Spa; brother Vernon VanTassel of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Leona M. Rougier
Of Paisley Road, Ballston Spa, went to the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Ballston Spa, January 13, 1922, she was the daughter of the late George and Ruth Barnes. Leona worked for the former Taylor’s Restaurant in Ballston Spa, Dunster’s in Malta and Ballston Spa Knitting Mill for many years. She loved music and enjoyed her cats.
She was predeceased by her husband William Rougier.
She is survived by her children Sharon Green of West Milton, Diana Staulters of Ballston Spa and William Rougier of Ballston Spa; 7 grandchildren Jeff Staulters, Tony Arpey, Jamie Woodcock, Paul Staulters, Zach Rougier, Josh Rougier and Nicole Rougier; 2 sisters Marilyn Abeel of Ballston Spa and Patricia Hodgson of Gansevoort. Born in Ballston Spa, December 3, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Norman and Marjorie Eldridge. Anna worked at the Morningkill Bake Shop in Ballston Spa for 20 years. She was a member of Ballston Center Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. She loved her pets.

Paul D. Kniskern, Sr
Of West High Street, Ballston Spa. Died suddenly, Monday, January 23, 2006 at his home. Born in Gloversville, May 12, 1940, he was the son of the late Harold and Mildred Kniskern. Paul was a photographer for 40 years. He worked for the Union Star, Knickerbocker News, Capital Newspapers and the Times Union, retiring in 1998. He was a past member of the Carman Fire Department of Rotterdam. He was a member of Eagle Matt Lee Fire Co No 1 of Ballston Spa for many years and served as a fire policeman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Carol Kniskern, 2 sons Paul D. Kniskern, Jr of Johnsonville, Ronald (Tina) Kniskern of Ballston Spa; 2 stepsons Samuel (Alice) Ostrowski of Breakabeen and Ira Ostrowski of Maryland; brother Gary (Linda) Kniskern of North Carolina. Roy J. LaQue
Of Kile Drive, Glenville. Died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Albany, April 1, 1932, he was the son of the late George and Mary LaQue. He grew up in Ballston Spa and served in the US Air Force. Mr. LaQue was a machinist at General Electric Co in Schenectady for 25 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of American Legion Post 70 of Saratoga Springs, American Legion Post 234 of Ballston Spa and VFW Post 358 of Ballston Spa. He was also a member of Ballston Spa Elks and GE Quarter Century Club.
He was predeceased by 3 sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years Ruby LaQue; 3 stepchildren Jeannie Banks of Ballston Spa; Robert Lanoue of Cohoes and Mary Ann Lanoue-Alvaro of Glenville; 2 sisters Doris Bradt and Jane Buchard of Ballston Spa. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Catherine L. McCauliffe
Of Longkill Road, Ballston Lake, died Saturday, January 21, 2006.
Born in Whitehall, September 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George and Thelma Tromblee. Mrs. McCauliffe was the owner and operator of Classic Interiors in Clifton Park, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa and the Clifton Park Elks Ladies Auxiliary where she was named “Mother of the Year”. She and her husband took many foster children into their home. She like to play BINGO and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister Margaret LaCross.
