Patrick V. Wareing
Patrick V. Wareing, loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, died of leukemia Oct. 11, 1999, at his home in the woods, The Acres, in Roy. His family was at his bedside at the time of his death. Pat was born in Eureka, Mont. March 18, 1917.
He is survived by his wife Lois; daughters Christy Bonner of San Diego and Trish Wareing of Arlington and their husbands John and Steve; as well as his sister Anona Kanoff of Tumwater; brother Joel of Grand Mound; plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
An Army veteran of WWII and retired Lieutenant of the Seattle Fire Department, Pat enjoyed his retirement years on his land in the woods with his wife, Lois. They traveled extensively throughout the west for several years, returning often to Montana where Pat was born and lived during much of his childhood.
Funeral services were Oct. 16, at Fir Lane Chapel, in Spanaway. Donations may be made in Pat's memory to the Hope Heart Institute of Seattle.

Richard C. Stidham
Richard Stidham, 79, of Eatonville, passed away Oct. 7, 1999. He attended schools in Tacoma and Washington State University. He owned and operated a cattle ranch and tree farm, and belonged to many civic and farm organizations.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Camilla; daughter Judy Rogers; granddaughters Jody Freund (Thomas), Jill Rasmussen (Travis) and Janie Rogers; great-granddaughters Chanel and Sierra; great-grandsons Shane and Forrest; several cousins and numerous friends.
He was a member of United Methodist Church of Eatonville. He served in World War II and the Korean conflict.
Special thanks to renal dialysis staff at St. Joseph Hospital, Dr. Paul Schneider and the family and staff at Welcome Home.
Remembrances may be made to United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 205, Eatonville, 98328; the Lion Sight and Hearing Foundation, 901 Boren Ave., Suite 810, Seattle, 98104; or charity of choice.

Clarence John Welsh
Clarence John Welsh, 69, of Graham, died Oct. 18, 1999. He was born May 7, 1930, in Duwamish.
John was retired from the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He liked to cook, paint, do woodwork, pan for gold and go to Reno. John and his wife Beverley were married for 48 years.
In addition to Beverley, he is survived by children Alan D. Welsh (Bonnie ) of Elbe, Carol (John) Seidl of Graham, Diana Myers of Graham, John R. Welsh of Algona, Richard J. Welsh (Tammy) of Sumner and Teresa (Roger) MacKey of Elbe; sister Shirley (Roy) DalSanto of Enumclaw; brothers Larry (Cecelia) Harper of Enumclaw and Frank (Kathleen) Welsh of Forks and 21 grandchildren.
Funeral services were Oct. 21 at Fir Lane Chapel. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. Fir Lane Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Eugene "Gene" Meyer
Eugene "Gene" Meyer, 91, passed away Nov. 9, 1999 in Puyallup. He was born Jan. 21, 1908 in Lynn, Texas to Irwin W. Meyer and Minnie Mae Dixon. Gene moved to Washington when he was 18 and worked i the fruit orchards in Yakima. He moved to the Puyallup area in 1945. He was a truck driver for Pierce County, District #2, a member of the Teamsters Union, and a 55 year member of the Benston Grange. Gene loved traveling, gardening and yard work. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Naomi Ruth Meyer of the home, daughters Loretta Bowles of Tacoma and Lorraine (David) Koerner of Utah; son Dan Meyer of SeaTac; stepsons Richard (Jeanie) Logston of Aberdeen, Jesse (Bonney) Batts Logston of Eatonville; and brother Clifton (Ann) Meyer of Lacey.
Services were held Nov. 11, at the Eatonville Cemetery.

Silvio Guidi
Silvio Guidi, 93, former 20-year Eatonville resident, passed away on Oct. 27, 1999, in Stockton, Calif., where he had lived since 1953. He worked for Eatonville Lumber Company and retired from American Forest Products in California.
His survivors include Leo Guidi of Puyallup; Arthur Guidi of Belfair, Wash.; Robert Guidi of Stockton; Barbara Harper of Fortuna, Calif.; a sister in Italy,; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Kenneth B. Kuper
April 12, 1919 - November 4, 1998
Ken Kuper was born in Tacoma and lived on a farm in the Spanaway area. He was a graduate of Kapowsin High School. Ken retired as a bus driver from the Bethel School District and formerly held positions as school custodian, newspaper carrier and U.S. Postal service employee. He also helped at this fathers grocery store, Kuper's Korner, for many years.
Ken was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed a wide circle of friends. He was an avid sportsman and fan, playing regularly in horseshoes, softball and bowling leagues ( He bowled a perfect sanctioned 300 game at age 70). Ken was an active community member: He was a retired volunteer fire fighter of 25 years, he umpired youth league baseball and was a PTA Golden Acorn recipient.
Ken was actively involved in his church and had a strong faith that guided his life. He attended Spanaway Assembly of God for many years and more recently , Clover Creek Bible Fellowship.
Ken is survived by his wife Lois; son Larry Kuper (Mona); daughters Margie Bellmer and Darlene Keen (Gregg); brothers Earl and Bob Kuper and six grandchildren: Jessica and Alan Kuper, Michael and Angela Bellmer and Emily and Joshua Keen.
A public memorial service was held Nov. 10 at Clover Creek Bible Fellowship.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Clover Creek Bible Fellowship, 17708 28th Ave. E. Troy Sherman Mannon
Troy Sherman Mannon graced family and friends with this gentle and quiet presence for 72 years before embarking on his final journey. On Nov. 4, 1999, he bid farewell to his wife of 22 years, Barb Mannon; two sisters, Audrey Plummer of Sedro Wooley and Emma Dombeck of Bryant, Wis.; four loving children, Rick Mannon of Tacoma, Louie Budinick of Gig Harbor, Jenny Pessemier of Eatonville and Patty Ramsdell of Lakewood; three special stepdaughters, Chris Kelly, Debbie Drake and Kelly Hunsaker, all form Bremerton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many treasured friends.
Troy was born on Dec. 22, 1927 in Payden, Oklahoma. For nearly 50 years of his life he made his home in Port Orchard and Bremerton.
On the 4th of November, his weary footsteps led him on his final journey to the Gates of Heaven. He was greeted by hi father, mother and ten brothers and sisters where he now makes his permanent home.
When you left, dad, a bit of us went with you, but also, a bit of you remains in us. This comfort and the special memories will sustain us until we, too, make our final journey where you will greet us with one brow cocked upwards, a smile upon your lips and a twinkle in your eye.
Forever you remain in our hearts!

Larry Clayton Jamerson
Larry Clayton Jamerson, 65, of Eatonville, died Nov. 19, 1999 in Eatonville. He was born July 11, 1934 in Toppenish, Wash. to Robert Henry Jamerson and Alice E. Bryan. He was a truck driver for Wilcox Farms for over 23 years. He was a member of Puyallup Eagles and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. His biggest joy was his family and trucking.
Larry is survived by his wife, Rosalie Jamerson of the home; children Lloyd (Jill) Emery of Puyallup, Gerry (Penny) Emery of Mossy Rock, John (Beverly) Emery of Eatonville, Randy (Elaine) Emery of Hoods Port, Gale (Eugene) Shumacher of Spanaway, Clay (Sharon) Jamerson of Eatonville; Mother Alice Jamerson of Eatonville; brother Robert (Diane) Jamerson of Tacoma; sister Geraldine (Bill) Pettitt of Shelton; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Nov. 24, 1999, at 1 p.m., at the Eatonville Methodist church. Interment will follow at Eatonville City Cemetery. Viewing at Dryer Mortuary Tuesday, Nov. 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Oncology Department at Good Samaritan Hospital or to District 21 Pierce County Aid Car. Bettye Ford
Elizabeth Elaine (Bettye) Ford, 76, of Eatonville, passed away at her home, Nov. 17, 1999, of pancreatic cancer. She was born Jan. 13, 1923 in Mineral, the daughter of longtime Eatonville residents, Edith and Henry Meyers. Bettye graduated from Eatonville high School and married Joseph A. Ford on May 4, 1943. She was a homemaker and active in Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Eagle's Ladies Auxiliary.
Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, Aug. 19, 1988. Survivors are her three children, Kenneth J. Ford of Gig Harbor, Robert A. Ford of Eatonville and Vicki D. Young of Spanaway; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marjorie Kling of Cincinnati, Doris Ryan of Sun City West, Ariz. and Dolly Akers of Farmington, New Mexico.
Private family services will be held at Mineral Cemetery. Arrangements were made through Commencement Bay Crematorium. Remembrances are suggested to the Eatonville Fire Department or the Franciscan Hospice of Tacoma.

Felicity Anne Morris
Felicity Anne Morris (age 41) died peacefully at home on November 22 at 10:30 a.m., surrounded by her loving family, after a valiant battle with breast cancer.
Felicity was born on June 18, 1957, in Maidstone, England.She moved to Pullman, Washington in 1966, where she eventually received degrees in education from Washington State University. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. While at WSU, she met Bruce Morris of Eatonville. They were married in Pullman in 1982 and moved to Eatonville.
Felicity dedicated her life to helping others, especially children. She opened the first licensed childcare facility in Eatonville, ran Katie's Garden Montessori School, taught religious education to youth in her church, and was active in the junior P.S.I.A. program until her death.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce, and three children, Elizabeth (13); Andrew (12); and, Katie (8), all of Eatonville; her mother, Edwina Barnsleyof Pullman; sister, Gabriel Vorenkamp of Bellingham; brother, Michael Barnsley of Atlanta; brother, Jonathan Barnsley of Australia; and, brother, Simon Barnsley of England. She is preceded in death by her father, Alan Barnsley, who died on Thanksgiving Day in 1986.
Some of Felicity's last words included, "Tell all the angels around the world who have been praying for me, I was proud to be among them. . . and don't forget to get a mammogram!"
Arrangements are being handled by Fir Lane Funeral Home. A Vilgil Service will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel on Frinday, November 27 at 7 p.m. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 229 Antonie Avenue in Eatonville.

Cecil Mae Smith dies
Cecil Mae Smith, 86 of Eatonville, died Nov. 16, 1998. Cecil was born in Kopiah, Wash. And has lived in the Eatonville area for 64 years.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Smith of Eatonville, a sister, Elsie Palmer and two brothers, Robert and Ralph Osborn, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Nov. 19 at Dryer Mortuary.

Gary L. McGinnis
Gary L. McGinnis died Nov. 7, 1999, at his home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Funeral services were held Nov. 9, at he Bonners Ferry Funeral home Chapel. Burial followed in the Grandview Cemetery.
Gary was born Aug. 11, 1943 to Ralph Eugene "Mac" McGinnis and Lena Mary Eickmeyer McGinnis in Petaluma, Calif. He was raised in the small town of Cotati with his younger sister Jeannie. Gary enjoyed Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and loved tinkering with old cars. At the age of 18 he graduated from Petaluma High School. After his graduation he and a buddy left for Alaska, but ran out of money in Olympia. This is where he met his future wife Nancy. Two years later, on Oct. 16, 1965, they married. They had their son Michael in 1966 and daughter Jennifer in 1969. From the time he was a young boy Gary was always interested in old cars. In 1974 he opened a business selling antique car parts and a Hub equipment service company. After moving to Eatonville he became a general contractor. As the years progressed he built commercial buildings. In 1995, Gary and Nancy moved to Bonners Ferry.
Gary is survived by his wife Nancy; son Michael (Denise) of Bonners Ferry; daughter Jennifer (Dave) Kast of Elbe; Mother, Lena and Stepfather and R.C. "Tubby" Braden of Cotati, Calif.; sister Jean Ennis of Loomis, Calif.; four grandchildren, Mark Mierke, Katie Kast, Mitch McGinnis and Mason McGinnis.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Ralph "Mac" McGinnis.

Louise Ellen Carson
Louise Ellen Carson, 66, passed away Nov. 30, 1999 after suffering a heart attack. A long time resident of Eatonville and Graham, Louise was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Tacoma. She attended Fife High School, graduating in 1951 and studied at Bates Technical School where she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1970. Louise worked in the health care industry for 25 years, after which she retired and started Granny Goose Daycare. Her interests included square dancing and arts and crafts. Her greatest joy was sewing for her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years, George "Stretch" Carson; sons Raymond L. (Dorthea) Stecker and Randall M. Stecker; stepsons Richard Carson, Larry Carson and Jimmy Carson; foster son Eddie Mitchell; daughter Sharon Louise (Jess) Palmer; daughter-in-laws Dorthea "Dottie" Stecker and Cynthia Bastian; brother Daniel Nase; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents Grace and Millard Nase.
A family memorial was Dec. 11, arrangements by American Memorial, in Renton.

Darrin Lawrence Wiemer
Darrin L. Wiemer, born on March 6, 1970 in Tacoma, died on Dec. 19, 1999 in Seattle. A 1988 graduate of Eatonville High School, Darrin was a warehouse foreman for the Pepsi Cola Company in Seattle, and held membership in teamsters local #174. His enthusiasm for sports, love for animals and generosity towards others played a large role in his life.
Darrin was the beloved husband and friend of Vanessa (Sherrill) Wiemer, of Graham; devoted father of Alexis Mireille Wiemer of Graham; loving son of Norman (Caroline) Wiemer and Jean (Freeman) Pruitt, all of Eatonville; cherished brother of Diana (Joe) Root of Eatonville, Todd Wiemer of Tacoma and Brian Wiemer of Eatonville. Darrin is also survived by maternal grandmother Harriet Greeman of California; great-uncle Carl (Laverne) Wiemer of Puyallup and great-aunt Norma Berg.
A Mass was held at All Saints Catholic Church on Dec. 23. Interment at Woodbine Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to All Saints Catholic Church, 204 6th Ave. S.W., Puyallup, WA 98371 or to the Alexis Wiemer Fund at any Washington Mutual Bank. Arrangements by Powers Funeral Home.

Evelyn May Rind
Evelyn May Rind, 76, of Yakima, died Dec. 21, 1999 at her home in Yakima.
Evelyn was born in Marysville, Wash. on May 31, 1923 to Jerome and Mae Agnus (Phelps) Dean. On April 10, 1943 she married William Rind in marysville, making their home in the Eatonville and Graham areas. In 1994, Evelyn moved to Yakima after the death of her husband. She loved to read an garden and enjoyed making crafts as gifts. She belonged to the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spanaway.
She is survived by one son, Donald Rind of Seattle; three daughters, Elizabeth (Betty) Beales of Richmond, Virginia, Carol Breshears of Yakima and Janet Johnson of Leavenworth, Wash; one brother, Everett Dean of Grants Pass, Ore; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her extended family and the staff and residents of Cedar Hills Adult Residential Care Center. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, William Rind; and two brothers, Willard and Harvey Dean.
Memorial services were held Dec. 27, at the Trinity Nazarene Church, in Yakima. The family suggests that memorial be made to the Parkensons Research c/o Yakima Valley Credit Union, 122 N. 50th Ave., Yakima, WA 98908.

Wayne Dennis Brink
Wayne was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on Nov. 20, 1938 and passed away in Eatonville on Dec. 21, 1997. He leaves behind a brother, Paul Brink of Ashford; his children, Judy Baily of Eatonville, Susie McMahon of Lakewood, Dwayne Brink of Eatonville and Donna Starks of Graham.
Wayne was a beloved husband and father, a friend to everyone, kindhearted and a good worker. He was married to his first wife, Mary Ellen, for 30 years and to his second wife, Shelly for two years. He worked at Clay City for 32 years.
A memorial service was held on Dec. 27. Burial was at Trinity Lutheran.

John Van Eaton
December 30, 1911 - December 27, 1997
Town patriarch John Van Eaton passed away at home in Eatonville on Dec. 27. Son of Eatonville founder, T.C. Van Eaton and Nellie Appleby Van Eaton, he retired form active participation in Van Eaton Chevrolet more than a decade ago.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Van Eaton; sons and daughters Tom Van Eaton (Louise), Terry Van Eaton (Sharon), Joan Jordan (Mike), James Patrick (Edwina), Margaret Neymen; brother Robert A. Van Eaton and sister Nell Hales. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Most of his descendants live in the local area with two living in Washington D.C.
Services will be held at the Eatonville Methodist Church on Mashell Avenue N., on Jan. 3, 1998, at 2 p.m.

Stella Mae Dick
Stella Mae Dick, 71, a former resident of Eatonville, died March 28, 1997 at her home in Parkland. Stella was a member of AARP and a former member of Eatonville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Ron Dick of Seattle, Gary Dick of Eatonville, Diane Clements of West Sacramento, Calif; her brother, Les Schrag of San Lorenzo, Calif; four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 4, at Dryer Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International. Services directed by Dryer Mortuary.

Lorraine M. Brown
Lorraine M. Brown, resident of Eatonville, passed away in Puyallup, Washington on March 31, 1997, at the age of 75 years.
She was born to Emelia (Lemaire) and Rene Benoit in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on April 22, 1921 and served her country during WWll as a flight nurse. She was founder and co-owner of Evergreen Truck Stops, Inc. of Federal Way, Missoula, Montana and Verdi, Nevada. She was a member of St. Vincents Catholic Church of Federal Way. A member of the American Legion Auxiliary - Bruce A. Mercer Post #67 of Puyallup and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary - Post #2224 of Puyallup.
She dedicated her life to her children. She is survived by four daughters: Sydnie Rota of Edgewood, Kendra and her husband Mike Dotson of Renton, Leslie and her husband Randy Anderson of Spanaway and Lynette Britton of Kalispell, Montana; four sons: Dana Brown of Roy, Scott and his wife Cecilia Brown of Eatonville, Todd Brown of Spanaway and Jim and his wife Julie Wysong of Grandview, Washington; sister Renee Ryan of Middletown, Connecticut; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of good friends.
Funeral Services were held on April 4, 1997 at the Gethsemane Cemetery Chapel. Services were celebrated by the Reverend Father Gary Southerton. Arrangements were made through Hills Funeral Home in Puyallup.

James Manfred Longmire
James Manfred Longmire passed away March 10, 1997, in Seattle. He was born in Yakima, Wash. on April 6, 1918. James married Beulah Marshall on Aug. 9, 1941. The family lived in Selah, Wash., until 1950 when he moved with wife and children to Grays Harbor where he worked as a Stevedore. Shortly after his retirement in 1980 he relocated to the Eatonville area.
His great-grandfather, also named James, lead the first wagon train to ever cross the Northern Cascade mountain range in 1853. At the west entrance to Mount Rainier National Park is Longmire, Wash. This area was established as a hot springs resort by the elder James Longmire in 1883.
James is survived by his wife Beulah Longmire of Eatonville; his brother Maurice Longmire of Selah; four children, Judy Ball of Alvaton, Ky., James M. Longmire Jr. of Vancouver, Wash., Sandra Kilmer of Beaverton, OR and Harry Longmire of Brooklyn, N.Y.
A memorial service was held on March 15, at the Eatonville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Condolences can be sent to: P.O. Box 1727, Eatonville, WA 98328.

Martin Oliver Remmen
Martin Oliver Remmen, most recently of the Alston-Corners area, passed away March 3, 1997 at St. John Medical Center at the age of 90.
He was born Dec. 21, 1906, in LaGrande, Ore., to parents Sivert Monson Remmen and Mabel Elizabeth Lightfoot.
He and Lucy (Cook) Remmen were married Feb. 15, 1936 in Shelton, Wash. They had lived in Ashford for about 40 years. She preceded him in death in 1995.
Martin enjoyed gold mining, fishing and the out of doors. He and his grandson were prospecting for gold the Thursday before Mt. St. Helens blew, in May 1980, and were forced to leave their cabin.
He is survived by two daughters, Toddy Heiner of Longview, Wash. and Ella Ray of Rainier, Ore.; one brother, George Remmen of Shelton; nine grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held March 15 at Hudson Cemetery. Bishop John Cook of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Shelton officiated. Haakinson-Groulx Mortuary of Clatskanie handled the arrangements.

Pauline Johnson Kuykendall Rathbone
Pauline Rathbone was born on Feb. 10, 1911 to Robert and Lydia (Fleek) Kuykendall at the family home "Rebel's Retreat" in Reese's Mill, W.Va., and passed away on March 13, 1997 in Tacoma. She was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy, the Channel 9 "Nine Club," A.A.R.P. and a lifetime member of the 4-H Club.
She is survived by her husband, Edison; stepdaughter, Jacqueline of Neah Bay, Wash; a brother, John Mike Kuykendall; a "special sister," Veora Rotter of Eatonville; four granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on March 18 and funeral services were conducted March 19 at the Mt. View Garden Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, 1124 Columbia, Seattle, WA 98104. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.

Jane Jackson Davis
Jane Jackson Davis, 70, of Mineral, died Sept. 19, 1997. Jane enjoyed the beauty of living in this area for the past 21 years and spent much of her time sharing this beauty with her numerous friends and family from all over the world. She was active in the Republican Party and was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children: Judy Filkins of Spokane, James (Lynda) Filkins of Auburn, Susan Banks of University Place, Lisa Drury of Tacoma, Joe (Terri) Davis of Mineral, James (Debbie) Edwards of Phoenix and Bob (Cathy) Edwards of Glendale, Ariz.; brothers Virgil (Jackie) Jackson, Fr. of Albania and Donald (Karen) Jackson of Puyallup; sisters Zorita (Ed) Faris of Orlando, Lovera (Thomas) Baird of Rolla, Missouri, R. Maude (Joe) McMains of Ephrata, Ginger (Kenneth) Burress of Nashville, Indiana and Geneva (Tom) Gilbraith of Kent; grandchildren John and Jeff Graham, Bob Banks, Lisa Troh, Laura Drury, Tiara and Seth Davis, Michael and Michelle Edwards and James Edwards; five great-grandchildren and numerous adopted children all over the world. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Orting Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Dryer Mortuary.
